Interesting conversation, and it may be that technology has created the appearance of polarization, and I agree, the nation was divided in the 60's and that war was part of that, but the politically incorrect elephant in the room that has been denied is the fact that America never had literally millions and millions of illegal aliens invading our nation, keeping wages stagnant for decades as a result, and costing our nation billions annually, while citizens go uncared for and virtually put aside. I know Peterson detests tribalism, however he does say that we all must be united in one thing first, as well as agree to the rules. Mexican flags being waved, Sharia being practiced; HERE IN OUR COUNTRY. These are scary things for anyone whom understands history. We Americans are going to witness our nation fragment into several ones based on the lowest common denominators of tribalism, as Americans, ones ancestrally connected to the founding culture and heritage, we'll find ourselves living like modern day Jews in Israel, fenced in, in our own lands, while foreign hostiles take shots at us. And in the meanwhile, whether it only appears this way or not, we're in a cultural war not just with foreign invaders unwilling to assimilate to our culture, but with a bunch of loonies who have been given far too much power simply because of the color of their skin, political affiliation, or the kinds of sex they enjoy. Being a gay, non-white, male or female, who identifies with liberal politics, now gives you the right to shut everyone up while they declare pedophilia totally acceptable, not only in being taught to 5 year olds in our public schools, but in practice too. It's disgusting.

I am so glad that the discussion started with the the value of comedy and satire... Lately; I have been despairing at quality of comedy in the media. What happened? When did unfunny , pandering, partisan hackery on ALL of the late night comedy shows become the norm ? Years ago I bought a poster that said : " Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups! " I thought it was mildly amusing and ironic in a dark "hipster " kind of way. Little did I realize at the time... how prophetic it was.

Since I discovered Jordan, I have drastically improved my life. I'm only masturbating four times a day, down from once every two hours. Plus I am one step closer to a clean room as I now squirt my load into water bottles. I used to nut into my calloused hand and then rub it into the carpet under my bed. My next step is to chisel out the rock hard carpet that over the years has become matted with my spurt.

First time to this channel. Very impressed with the quality and content of both men. Was a bit surprised that the Fox network was viewed by them as 20% of the right's news and I was actually disappointed that anyone actually takes that network seriously. Jordan really ripped Justin T. apart for legitimate reason, but calls Trump only an anomaly? Trump violates Jordan's most important rule for living a good life, honesty. According to Jordan one lie can cause a person to have problems and that person will suffer the consequences of that lie eventually Trump has 6K+ lies to deal with just in the past 3 years, so according to Jordan the Trumpster and his lying associates should be crushed as a result of the mountain lies. Oh yeah they are getting crushed, fun to watch now knowing what's about to happen.

I respect Jordan Peterson's humbleness. While many, I suspect, were lapping at his ideas and thoughts, I found myself impressed with his admittance to an otherwise average life. Aside from his fascination with books, which may have been his father's doing moreso than his own, he admitted to having nothing particularly unique about his person. He pretty much laid out that the only thing he did to achieve the things he's achieved was work hard and eliminate excuses. I respect that. Thank you for being honest Dr. Peterson, you don't know how much that admittance could help someone.

Well, 32K and you are 1% of the world, and do not complain about it ? Statistically it could be true, but in reality it is depends on what region you live in . I used to leave on 15K, in OK country and I was in top 1%, having much more than minimum. In US, with 32K, you are on the bottom. This is the only thing Dr. Peterson got wrong, everything else is very informative.

Did anyone else think of Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness when Dr. Peterson was discussing a person's value hierarchy at around minute 32-33?
4vsbs2 (5 дней назад)
Peterson's criticism of the media definitely defines his political stance. He definitely is a strong right winger. He has a very limited source of knowledge. He readily admits that he does NOT watch any of the news channels. He admits to reading magazines, but they are right wing magazines. He spends time on the social media such as Twitter, which is simply a site for opinions, not fact. This may be his achilles heal.
4vsbs2 (4 дня назад)
MrDa55555 I agree, but so has the right tilted too far. Jordan Peterson has some very good advice and he dwells on competance and responsibility. But he neglects opportunity and culture which can be an insurmountable obstacles for some people. That doesn't mean that it isn't important for people to follow his twelve rules, but they have to be tempered with reality. Dr Peterson is very well read and intelligent but he is not omniscient.
MrDa55555 (4 дня назад)
I think some of that is because he thinks the Left has titled too far.
Bluewren Reilly (5 дней назад)

There are definitely people that have an eloquent understanding of economics. I think the biggest problem is how people think about this science. There are things that are just as true as basic statements in psychology or other social sciences. It's hard to argue against the fact that you can train a dog or a human through association (pavlovian dogs) and its also extremely hard to argue against division of labor increasing efficiency (assembly lines). From the basic statement of division of labor you can make profound statements about economy (what will happen to the economy if you make a law impeding division of labor in some way?) . There is some disconnect at some point where statements made do not exactly follow from the basic proven facts but the science is just as real as any social science and there is speculation at some level in all social sciences. What is different is that the use of economics is perverse. Its heavy use in politics leads it to become a political tool of deception with certain schools, whether true or not, being extremely convenient for the argument that government has to have heavy involvement in the economy. The use of economics as a political tool is extremely tragic since economics as a profession is not very useful in private sector other then a tool for market analysis. As a financial investor your profit is much more dependent on your knowledge in finance, law and markets so economics even as this tool can be used only as a weak aid. This means that a lot of economist must work for the government, teach (Teaching professions also being heavily tied to government) or actually work outside of their area of expertise. This creates a situation in which economists can be paid to make claims that aren't factually true but benefit the government. In other sciences it usually pays most to produce research that resembles reality. People want to know how to predict other peoples behaviors for their personal gain and if your predictions prove wrong you will not be paid. This means that most profitable research in psychology and other sciences is the one that resembles reality. This is not the case in economics since politicians do not care about how to make the markets work efficiently they care about how to prevent economic problems in their terms (so they can get reelected) and how to convince people that their market manipulation is good for everyone (aka propaganda). Who would hire an economist who claims that government intervention is not needed? This does not mean that economics as a science did not come up with certain models which model reality extremely well. People interested in economics will still peruse this science for the satisfaction of finding the truth. Even Politicians will not find use in economics that doesn't represent the reality to any degree as it will ensure economic policy that will not allow for re-election. Many models in economics have the ability to predict reality extremely well. It is well established fact that Demand and Supply decides prices and it has a backing of great amount of empirical evidence (This has implications on larger outcomes in economy. It states the effects of laws that try to impose price floors or ceilings or quantity of goods supplied. This is why command economy could never work and the underlying model of supply and demand describes the results of such economy with a rigorous precision. This description always comes to light in any country that tries to implement a command economy which means that the study of economics does model reality extremely well) Psychology cannot say how humans will behave 100% of the time. It can however make certain statements that are proven beyond reasonable doubt. Economics cannot possibly predict all the outcomes of an action in a market setting but it can make definitive statements that are just as accurate as statements in other sciences. The ability of economic models are more accurate and profound then most people give them credit for. People do not give economics the proper respect as a science since general public does not understand economics. Which is understandable since there are big incentives to muddy the waters.

I landed on that video because of my interest in Dr. Peterson, which I must admit did not disappoint in his critical thinking and reasoned discourse once again. I genuinely appreciated the interviewer's questions, insight and contribution to that discussion, which was above standard as far as I'm concerned! The only thing that really bugs me, and I hope this is perceived as a constructive criticism, is the way the editing is done. The way editing needs to be done in order for my mind to see continuity in the cuts is if you cut mid sentence so that I see different camera angles that show the same sentence being said... the way this video is edited, cutting in between questions/sentences, I have the gut feeling that questions/dialogues/lines of thought have been cut and pieced together. I can't seem to see any imposed tone that would suggest that the timeline of the interview or that lines of thought have been tampered with intentionally, but the feeling remains. I hope that me sharing that feeling provides some insight on the perception that a first time viewer would subconsciously have of that video! Keep up the good work by the way, I personally enjoyed watching this one!

First of all I´m intrigued with Jordan Peterson, but i would slightly diagree about the part where hes talking about seeking and telling the truth. Hes stating that there isnt a better outcome that the truth produces. I think its ethically more complex. Just one simple, admittedly extreme, example: Youre hiding innocent people in your cellar who are seeked by some killers. Now youre getting asked by the killers if you know where the hidden people are, telling the truth would lead to their death. Thats the basic outcome. Cant see any good in it...

Great interview. I'm about 3/4 of the way through (59min) and there is point that Jordan makes regarding political attitudes. He states that the left have moved farther left and right have stayed relatively the same...... I disagree with that statement. It does seem though that the "far left" have moved more left, which really is of no consequence. Social media has just allowed them to be heard more often than we are used to. In general however I feel the mainstream right has moved farther right while the mainstream left have remained the same. Case and point is after the recent death of George Bush Sr. there were numerous speeches and dialog that have been broadcast during his presidency. Many of his views would be considered Left nowadays. He spoke of immigration, health care, wages, etc..... If you put those into context today he would be considered left of center. Jordan is a brilliant man and I really enjoy his methodical way of thinking, I do think he sometimes doesn't see the whole picture at times. .......Edit Addition to my statement after I posted my initial point, Jordan then went on to say he has not been in touch with mainstream media since 1985. This backs up my previous statement. That shows right there why he is out of touch with how the right has moved further right.

Wow, how nice to see Dr. Peterson be able to relax a bit and be more who he really is. I learn so much from this man, he is incredible. I don't know how he has the patience to deal with so many of the interviewers that he gets matched up with? I couldn't do it. I'm not saying that I'm a genius, but I believe Jordan to be, and I often imagine how he is able to deal with so many of the interviewers, whom operate as though they have an IQ of sub 100. I would scream and start pulling my hair out, I swear! He is so articulate and concise, while many of what he attempts to share is simply an educated logic, that he is difficult to misunderstand, yet time and time again "They Just Don't Get It?!" I hate to say this but I probably would have given up by now. Especially knowing that this was not his original intention, to be taking sides and speaking out & having to protect himself. Whew, JBP you are my Hero! Thank You for you. (Keep Smiling.) Shine

As a Social Worker, who graduated this summer, I have to agree with the tutors being agents of indoctrination. One, just one, of my lecturers expressed center/right views. The others were extremely left leaning. I sniffed out the bias within the first few weeks of my degree (3 years ago) when I saw certain students, who were overtly left leaning, be praised an incredible amount for mediocrity in their work and development of opinions. Wheres myself as someone who is quite firmly central politically, and academically ahead of most others in my cohort, had to put up with a wall of; well you dont agree with the programme 100% so you get less of a platform. People are scared to form their own opinions and prefer a script because its safer. I had three years of lecturers ignore what I had to say because I had different views on immigration, politics, economic approaches. There was a tone of unilateral equality, with the exception of white men. Course leader gathering the opinions of the female students from a minority, but the white guys not so much. Social Work to me is working with facts and establishing what the patterns are. If I see a mother abusing her children and the father is the protective factor I will go against the narrative that men are the truly evil ones. I just want JP to know there ARE Social Workers who dont accept the narrative and think freely. We are a minority but we exist.

When I heard the question about what peterson doesn´t know much about I knew he was going to say that there are a lot of things he doesn´t know much about. And that´s really what makes him so great. He isn´t omnicient, but he only talks about the things he really knows about and has thought through critically. Everybody should really be doing the same instead of believing they have a right to say they´re uninformed opinion about every important issue.
