OMG reading the comments on here, it is like the Church of Elon Musk. The same sort of people who have driven the shares of Tesla up , so that a company that has produced 80,000 cars is now worth more than a company that produces 11 MILLION cars a year. General Motors. How long has Tesla been around, and how long before it will ever make a profit. I am guessing one major recall of an entire model is about all it will take to put Tesla on the edge of bankruptcy

alotta intelligent kids can learn alot about personality from this guy. I for one, as a South African, can say he is a true inspiration. Why I particularly say smart kids can learn from him is that media[movies & series about Silicon Valley] seem to be obsessed with potraying the old high IQ, low EQ stereotype and glorifying it. If you have been to University with diverse international students, you have met a few people with a faux intelligence complex with shitty personality, who are inspired by shitty faux cons like Steve Jobs and Mark shitty Burg. Others are genuinely smart, but they not willing to learn etiquette and people skills because its easier to stick to what you know.

Super chargers and charging from home and work is the solution. Petrol and diesel is the past. We need early adopters to help make new tech mainstream. The Model 3 has a good range. It's very safe. It's sexy. It's much cheaper than other models. It's quiet and it has quick acceleration.

You see the corporate media is trying to manipulate doubt into the public with rumors and lies. Huge corporations like Bloomberg do have assets and stocks in the mainline auto industry and Tesla is taking profits from companies like FORD and GM. Demand for Tesla is high and stocks keep growing and the world has to take notice.

etmax1 (1 year ago)
People shouldn't have to wear a suit and a tie to gain respect, they should be clean and groomed but whether it's a clean T-Shirt because it's 35C+ or a skivvy because it's getting cool, it shouldn't matter. If anything I see it as a case of "Snakes in Suits", if anyone knows the book

Joshua Acton (1 year ago)
If he really wanted just money, and only money, he would have gone to the banking sector or real estate, he is easily smart enough to make billions from either one of those two industries. Do you really think if he wanted just money, he would start: 1. A Silicone valley electric car company, the first of its kind, and risk fighting with regular, well established car companies to survive. 2. A Commercial Space company, with the goal of lowering the cost of private space travel to millions of times cheaper than what it was a decade ago, something which no one thought was possible, and also with the goal of making re-usable rockets a reality, which until 2 years ago, no one thought was possible. Money may be part of what he wants, but then again have you watched his TED 2017 Interview? In short, he says that he does what he does because without companies like SpaceX, humanity might not make it out to the stars, and without companies like Tesla, the transition to sustainable energy might take too long and humanity will die.

Amy Foo Elon wants money you fuckhead. He's a businessman. You really make Tesla sound like a cult in the way you talk about Elon.
Amy Foo (1 year ago)
Ricky Bobby The first and basic reason that Elon Musk has built electric-run car is having ENVIRONMENT issue as the basis that we are facing daily now, that is to cut down on the exhaustion of more CO2 in the air atmosphere, that directly hit on the fuel or petroleum-run producers; isn't it the market of today is FREE, this is not only to have competition to improve in trade but to bring goodness to humanity, the good for all regardless of backgrounds? Definitely for every initial good rectification done on earth, there is always some kind of loss effect being made onto someone's pocket; why don't think of it as a way, if you can't beat him, join him, build better electric-run car to compete with him and do good for the earth too at the same?

Poor dumb bastard that cancel their orders... This is the future period. LOL To bad they don't sell those cars here.
Rumple Stiltskin (3 years ago)
Lets discuss how the car really performs and its relative fit and finish.  Consumer Reports says that the Tesla-S has the highest rating of any car they have EVER tested.  AND my friend, that is saying something. When any publication prints an opinion it reflects on that rag.  It appears that the NYT has a grudge against Elon Musk.  Some writers believe the public is only interested in controversy, and if there is none, (about the Tesla-S), they make some up, hoping against hope that creating more controversy will engender a greater readership from the ignorant public The Tesla-S performs perfectly in the role for which it was designed, and any one saying differently is a sniveling piece of dung who is jealous that they cannot afford one.  The NYT should be ashamed !

The New York Times is owned by the corporate right. Whatever they want they will manipulate the public so that the public will get them what they want. They take things out of context when they want to, then then public will go "ahh, this car is no good" and the corporate right goes "well done", then the intellectual community will say "you took that out of context" and the NYT will say "oops, we didn't know, our apologies" or some shit like that but the damage has already been done. But this time the anti solar stunts don't work out any longer! They are now dealing with a genius, Elon Musk, who has the truth on his side and his cutting edge technology that is unmatched. Once those cars come to the market at a price of 30 or 40 000 each, people will buy it for economical reasons only and then a historic marker will be set. Truth, Caring and Love wins. Like in the old fairy tales. But this time its reality.

globalguy (4 years ago)
The reality of any negativity is simple. After the car is sold there is nothing the government can suck from the public. Considering all levels of government get 50% of every gallon or liter sold there would be certain revenue losses. The more & more of these cars sold would mean less & less gasoline sold.  E.g. the average car goes 12,000 miles per year. The average cost of fuel is 3.00 per gallon. So the average luxury car gets about 15 miles to the gallon. So that would be about 800 gallons per year which means a total loss of revenue per car per year of $1200 USD. Then times 20,000 cars and whamo. Now were talking millions and it just keep adding up year after year. Where are the political scum bags going to recover such lucrative revenues? Perhaps they will have to soften their relationships with big businesses. Eventually all the players in the Mega business of oil will start crying along with the governments and start trying to find fault with such products.  Just looking at the NYT article and you can figure it has already started. When you include North Carolina's ban on Tesla car sales it's quite obvious. instead of supporting innovation they do anything they can to actually punish them with such a tactic. I thought bullying was becoming illegal? Wake up. Embrace change. My parents did and bought a TV in the 50s and shut off their radio.

I really can`t get enough of this guy.His honesty and integrity is a shining example and should be seized upon to enhance his entrepreneurial skills which will lead to thousands of jobs. Yet the guttersnipe press ( who incidentally make me fucking sick ) just wait on the sidelines,in readiness to kick Elon into touch. The press are cowardly predators whereas Elon breaks the mould, applies physics and gets on with it. Screw the press because all there paper is worth,is to cut it into 6" squares, wipe ur arse with it and then flush it :) along with the editors.

Well said.  You just have to understand what he is up against.  He is taking on a majority of the automobile & oil companies at the same time.  He is a threat to them.  Fortunately, he is a genius.  Not sure a single genius has ever worked for the oil industry.  It would be a conflict of interest.

The more i watch Elon Musk speak the more i think that every one else is dum retard,, including myself..
The frenchy (4 years ago)
yea , but with the financing they have , it is not that bad.. it cost about 500-600$ a month and depending on how much gas is in ur state you can substract 200$ from that , so about 400$ for a tesla S ... and then you can sell it after 3 years for the rest of the loan and get a newer model.. if you think about a car that cost 30k -40k and that you have to finance another way and sell it to pretty much 1/3 of the price after 3 years, you lose much more money , and it might even be more expensive
The frenchy (4 years ago)
it is still more eco friendly ... and it depends on where you live bro .. europe electricity production is much more eco friendly ... where i am in canada is hydroelectric ... so .. it depends where you live ... also if you use superchargers and or put a solar panel on ur house ( with another elon musk company) you can refill ur car with 100% eco friendly energy and for free (superchargers are also filled with solar energy)
What an asshole
Mark Atkinson (4 years ago)
Because coal fired electricity plants are around 60% efficient and even the best gasoline engines are in the mid to high 20% range. diesels are a bit better but even with bio-fuels the economies don't work for internal combustion (or even hydrogen fuel cell tech as it happens)
