Bananas and plantains are two different things. You have green bananas and you have green plantains. They taste different. I have banana trees and I have plantain trees. The podcast is correct do your research.

boil them with a little salt, a slice of lemon or 1 TB vinegar to keep the water from browning. eat them with whatever meat, stew you like or eggs for breakfast. it will keep you full for hours. you don't need to peel it before boiling. if you do peel it, it will cook faster.

There are pictures with different types of this vegetable (fruit) shown here which are not all classified tropically ads 'bananas' which could cause some confusion to readers from different parts of the globe. Tropically there are differences between plantains, rock figs, red bananas, blugoe, and the different varieties most of which can be cooked and eaten in an unripe (green)

John Gundaker For a nomal healthy person, banana with spots (due to ripeness) is good, but ripe banana is not good for diabetic persons because ripe banana contains more sugar than unripe ones. Thus, unripe banana is recommended for diabetics.

You have to cook them in boiling salted(to taste) water without the peel. If you cant get the peel off, make a slit from end to end and boil with the peel on. When they are close to being cooked, the skin can be eased off with a fork. Continue to cook without the peel until they are soft enough to eat. Two is usually a good amount. Make sure you look for the smallest ones, because the larger ones take a longer time to cook.They will also become very hard quickly. It is also an acquired taste.
