Mental, emotional and physical STRESS is the CAUSE of ALL our problems in life. Get your stress, and stress-related illnesses, including stress-related eating and stress-related bad moods, under control and watch the pounds come off. Live simply and cleanly. Spend time meditating on your hope's and dreams. Pay someone a compliment. Give (and receive) lots of hugs. Smile and laugh a lot. Breath deeply and stretch your muscles as many times a day as you can. Talk less, listen more. Seek out peace and quiet wherever and whenever you can. Get enough good quality sleep. Love yourself and others. Forgive and forget. Life is short. At the end of it, all we have left is our memories. Make some good memories today 😘

This is BS. Better information can be found at The Menopause Taylor. She's an actual gynecologist and vegan.

Well I respect your opinion as it is yours. The video is titled how "I lost the weight in perimenopause" - so it is MY experience and it is not B.S. But whatever you wish to believe and sounds like you have someone to follow that suits you better anyways. I am sure you will not be watching any more of my videos. Which is totally fine.

Are you still taking bioidentical hormones? I've gained 10 pounds on them and I was already overweight :(

Would you suggest soy based proteins for the estrogen content?

I have a question about celulite. I dry brush, I drink tons of water, I practice yoga, meditate. I am 38 vegetarian, I've never had such a rush of cellulite I am tall and always in shape. Then this year I gained 30 lbs it's crazy. Just started prog.cream Can you give advice?
Jess K. (5 месяцев назад)
Diana Marchand I thought I had a defect in progesterone? I am starting Bio identical progesterone yam cream. Tried it this month but 30 lbs is alot!! So then I shouldn't take an estrogen block? You think I am also experiencing a loss of estrogen as well? Last year i suffered from adult acne on jaw line.(never had acne before that) I attribute that to the estrogen& androgens. Acne has all cleared now,Thankfully. But now it's the stubborn 30lbs Thank you for replying. :)

Below is something I have found. I never ever had it before and I am very thin. I have a bit now. Not sure what we can do - most treatments are temporary. I am not on bioidentical hormones anymore. Those may help - not sure. Here is what I found: Hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development. Estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process. One theory is that as estrogen in women decreases in the approach to menopause, blood flow to the connective tissue under the skin also decreases. Lower circulation means less oxygen in the area, resulting in lower collagen production. Fat cells also enlarge as estrogen levels fall. These factors combine to makes the fat deposits more visible. As the fat under the skin protrudes through weakening connective tissue, the familiar dimpling effect results. Age also causes the skin to becomes less elastic, thinner, and more likely to sag. This increases the chance of cellulite developing.

With my patients, I find balancing their hypothalamus helps them lose their menopausal weight gain.

Yes, found your youtube channel - but good to know where you are as I work with women in midlife and many from U.S. You live in a beautiful place!!! So you do have a physical location - good to know. I hear so many sad things about what women go through during this phase and there is just not enough good information out there so I am glad you are doing this and have a physical location for people to come and see you. I will look at your channel - but do you have opinion or video on why doctors do so, so, so many hysterectomies in the U.S? I cannot believe how many women have had them - it is astonishing.

Than you, Diana Marchand. I have an Integrative Health practice in Ojai California. I specialize in neuro-immune-endocrinology. While women are the majority of my patients, as a Family Nurse Practitioner I treat men and children too!

I know, it can be very crazy but learn some coping techniques Lolita. Have you heard of EFT - Tapping? It is Emotional Freedom Technique. It really can help. Also learning some breathing techniques to release stress. There are lots of youtube videos. I highly suggest you look at things you can do in the moment to help you decrease and relax during those times.

I'm 51 and finishing perimenopause. Last year I went on the Dukan Diet and lost 25lbs down to 125lbs but have regained 8lbs. This upsets me as this diet is no sugar, fat or carbs. It's mostly meat, dairy, and veggies. I can live without sugar and fat but living without carbs is not realistic. I highly recommend this diet but now I'm focusing on 16/8 intermittent fasting (fasting 6pm til 10am) and eating whole foods like you say. I quit coffee to get 7-8 hours sleep, trying to be stressfree and brisk walking 30 mins/day. Have been IF for 4 weeks with NO weight loss. Not pleased however I will persevere and it's good to know I'm not the only one dealing with this BS
Diana Marchand (11 месяцев назад)
That sounds great! Thanks and enjoy the holidays!

Diana Marchand Thank you for the inspiration and advice. I will binge watch all your videos and have way more organic greens. Will do HITT and no muffins lol. It all makes sense
Diana Marchand (11 месяцев назад)
You are for sure not the only one. Do you eat good healthy fats? During this phase you need a lot of "good" fats. Plant based fats are really great. So make sure you are getting a lot of those. No counting calories - because what you are eating is very important - the nutrients in the food. Also - you need a TON of minerals. I am not sure what you are having for breakfast and eating/drinking in the morning as that is important too. ALSO - preservatives, chemicals, toxins, etc - all stored in fat. Read ALL LABELS. But during perimenopause it is harder to keep loosing weight. You lots 25 lbs so that is GREAT! Your body is also probably used to the exercise now so you could increase intensity of that. Doing HITT training (can look it up) would be very good. Never give up and focus more on HEALTH. That is what is really important.
TypeAAA (1 год назад)
I have a question: Do you think any fat/weight gain during perimenopause and menopause is 100 percent preventable throughout or do you think a small part of it is inevitable?
Sandra Pope (1 месяц назад)
Do you agree taking vit c will raise progesterone levels? Do you agree that taking Dim supplements will help remove bad estrogens in the body?
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
I would say that probably not 100%. Everyone is not willing to be so strict. I fell in love with the raw food lifestyle and became a raw food chef and taught classes and worked as a chef at a restaurant (raw, vegan) but I am not all raw now. I was for about 1 1/2 years and that is when I lost a ton of weight. And I was in perimenopause at that time. So you can really lose - important to detox and that is what high raw food does too. My body got rid of all the toxins and then I was eating high nutrient, low calories foods. But eventually I needed more food. More calories so I started bringing other foods in.
TypeAAA (1 год назад)
I'm not even perimenopausal, but I find your advice very helpful. Even though, I likely won't go full-blown vegan, especially raw vegan, I am going to greatly limit my meat intake to no more than 3 meals per week. Cutting out dairy is not an issue for me since I don't find it that palatable anyway and hardly crave it. I think even for women who are not perimenopausal yet, they can use your advice for generally losing weight or maintaining their weight.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Absolutely!!! Everyone can benefit from the advice so true! Thanks so much for watching and I am so happy you are making healthy changes and thinking about health. You will do so much better now as you age! keep it up!

Hi Diana! So thankful that someone speaks a language I understand! I get everything that you're saying because I have every symptom that you are talking about. I think my biggest issue right now is S T R E S S! I think most of it is caused because I can't sleep at night with the hot/cold sweats. I am exhausted during the day. The only time I can sleep is when I get home from work. I can't take bio identical hormones because my mother got breast cancer after she started them which raises my risk to a 50-50 chance. What can I do if I can't take Bio identical hormones? I am going to go on your food program and supplement program and I hope that helps but really need to sleep better!
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hi Kathy - you have to be very careful - they will not take away your symptoms as they are not a DRUG or PILL> This is a phase - it will go away. Manage it by food, watching all the things that can make symptoms worse Stress is a HUGE one. You MUST decrease stress - it is everything. Also - sugar, caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods, starchy foods, heavy foods, etc. Diet can change a lot and makes a big difference. You can make payments. Also if you are on Facebook then I do a lot. I am running a 21 day program right now that was only $67.00 and it was mostly all done on FB with vidoes, exercises and sending recipes, etc. So they are all doing amazing! That is possible - I hope to do another one. It may stay at $67.00 or go to $97.00. But I do payments. Here is link to FB Group (not where the program is that is private) but for my other FB Group where I share a lot of information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthypassionatelife/

Diana Marchand my mother was on synthetic hormones and they were pills. Initially after the doctor tested my levels, he put me on them and I have two different creams, one progesterone and one estrogen! After I took them for a few months and they help but did not lately alleviate my symptoms, he said he could not increase the dose without my risk of me getting breast cancer. At that point he told me that he was really risking putting me on them in the first place since my mother had breast cancer with synthetic hormone therapy. That being said, I stopped taking them and of course now all my symptoms are worse. I am wondering if I could be tested for the BRCA1 gene trait and then I can find out if I am more susceptible to cancer, with that let me know if I'm more likely to get it with hormone therapy or are those two different things? I do eat all of those things and usually drink coffee in the morning? Is tea better? I would like to do your program and I am wondering if there is a seasonal discount? $250 a month is it that high for me right now!
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hi Kathy - thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed my video. You can work on stress - so make sure you are doing as much as possible about deceasing your stress. I have a lot of videos on that. Also - do you drink a lot of coffee? Do you eat processed foods, sugar? That greatly affects how your body reacts and how you sleep. Also - high calorie, starchy, spicy, heavy foods cause hot flashes. So does alcohol and coffee. Doesn't mean you have to completely give up coffee for ever. Try for a few days. And then see how you feel and also drink a bit less from then on in. Did your mom take bio-identical hormones? Or synthetic hormones prescribed from a doctor. Were they creams? or a patch or pill? Bioidentical - are creams. and if you are tested first for your levels and then there are creams - estrogen, progesterone and testosterone - all separate. You may not need them all - and then you carefully need to know how much of each to use. If you are on Facebook - come and join my great FB Community - Women Creating Healthy Lives - I share a lot of great stuff on there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthypassionatelife/

Excellent Lucy! I hope you are also healthy! Which is really my #1 thing I tell my clients to focus on.

Thank you Diana, How is it that some women do not lose weight (some gain weight) even though on BHRT? Is it because of the dose and wrong proportions of the different hormones? I am 49 and I would like to start BHRT but I would love to lose weight with it. My cortisol (saliva test) and thyroid (the whole panel) are fine. Therefore I am leaning towards BHRT. I ate healthy at the time of my weight gain and I was slim my whole life before. Where in Canada are you? I am in Toronto. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hello Alien - I live in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island (off the coast of Vancouver) - about 1 1/2 hours from Victoria. I would have to see how you eat. Eating healthy is one thing but eating "right" for this time is a whole different thing. As with BHRT - there is no guarantee. As well all women are different and if you haven't started - you don't know if it will work - maybe it will. But the FOOD is a huge thing. Also did you get your thyroid and stress levels checked by regular doctor or a Naturopath? Here is a great free training I did on "Why the Weight Gain Over 40 and What You Can do about it" - http://dianamarchand.com/weight-gain-40/ That might help. I also am starting a really good program on Monday May 15th where we work on the 3 important areas for midlife weight gain - Food, Stress & Mindset. You get all recipes, meal plans, etc and a coaching call with me 1 x a month. If you are interested you can check it out at: http://dianamarchand.com/30days/ ALSO RE WEIGHT GAIN - if you are eating preservatives - read all labels - because they are in everything - they are stored in fat. So as long as you are breathing in, eating and drinking things with toxins - you need the fat to store the toxins. SO your body will not release the fat. That is an issue too. I hope that helps

Oh boy, I'm 46 and I've been denying what's in front of me, I need to get my health in check ASAP!
Michelle Barnes (1 год назад)
Thanks, I do not do sugars or starches,or drink milk . The Dr said, my hormones are within the norm for menopause. Told me not to worry about weight gain. Easy for him to say. I have gain another 10 since Christmas and cannot for the life of me to get it off. I walk every day and weight bearing. Can supplements add to it? All around my middle, omg back fat now! I was a fit athlete:/
Kelyn (2 месяца назад)
Michelle Barnes are you having trouble sleeping too? I’m 51. I’ve never had a hot flash but I had insomnia for years, weight gain, and what someone said Mean -O -Pause! Lol I’m normally very sweet always & I noticed I wasn’t very patient with people. Anyway, I found a few supplements that are really helping. Look into Pregnenolone & DIM as well as diet. I could post a couple links if you’re interested. PS one thing that is hard for me is I had a partial hysterectomy @ 40 so I can’t use my cycle for clues. And since I didn’t have hot-flashes I assumed I wasn’t in menopause. This is good information here too.

I'm right there with you. I've gained a total of 25 pounds over the last 3 years and absolutely can NOT get rid of it. I am a fitness professional (25+ years) and eat 80% or more CLEAN. Plenty of exercise, so no other explanation other than this hormonal hell. :(

Michelle Barnes I lost 22 pounds on Perimenopause by eating a vegan high carb low fat diet.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hello Michelle - I so get it. I know easy for them to say!! Crazy. There for sure are things you can do. When I talk to women it is usually always the food. Food and stress. When you eat the right foods for you - you will stop the weight gain and most lose. Stress - causes you to gain weight and you won't lose it. Are you on Facebook? I have a fantastic facebook Community where I talk about these things a lot, post recipes, do free trainings, answer questions, etc. Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthypassionatelife/ Also - if you wish to talk to me (see how I can help and what you can change) - contact me through my website: http://dianamarchand.com/contact/ I would be happy to speak with you.

Thanks for the great info Diana.  What are your thoughts on phytoestrogens from flax seeds and soy based foods?  Is this good or bad for perimenopausal women.  Thank you!
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hello -thanks for your comment! Flax seeds are mostly good for you. When you are in perimenopause (before menopause) you tend to be lower in progesterone - so then higher in estrogen - so do not really need the flax. The soy - limit and only use organic and non-gmo. Tempeh (fermented soy) is better - but only get organic and non-gmo. How much of it would you be eating anyway? What is worse is the chemicals from makeup, body lotions, food preservatives, plastics, microwaving in plastic, the hormones in commercial meats & dairy, cleaning products, hair products and sun tan lotions - that is where all the problem in estrogen comes from - just brutal!! So much more important to decrease your bodies exposure to toxins. Canned foods also - as the lining in most canned foods contains BPA as well as the preservatives in many canned and food in jars - junk foods, packaged foods, crackers, cookies, chips, etc. All of those are brutal for things that cause estrogen dominance - which then progesterone is lower and you get a whole lot of health problems, weight gain, infertility, skin problems and other symptoms.
heyitsme (1 год назад)
So can an estradiol patch be bioidentical?
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Wow, ahhhhh... you have been through a lot. Yes, bioidentical are NOT like synthetic. But also - you were on synthetic which really can screw things up and it takes a long time to re-balance again. THE BIG thing to know is ........ it could also be from what you are eating and not eating. This is HUGE and people do not realize this. Also - the "fake" estrogens we get from plastics and other chemicals. Brutal. Yes, hot flashes can be brutal but they decrease in intensity as time go on. Eating higher calorie, fatty, heavy, starchy foods increase them. Red wine and basically alcohol make them worse. Stress make them worse. Sensitivities to foods (that you may not even realize) can make them worse. If you eat dairy, meats (that are not organic) - because of hormones in those - can cause increase in symptoms. Young women in their 20s and 30s are experiencing brutal hormonal fluctuations because of what junk is in the food and drinks and plastics. To help your symptoms - you really need to look at the whole picture. that is exactly what I help women do - so I KNOW there are things you can do to feel so much better. Very few women I know even use bioidentical hormones - they do other things like look at the food they eat, decrease stress, through the right kind of exercises, really putting the focus on HEALTH - mind/body/spirit. THAT IS WHAT TRULY WORKS! I do have a fantastic Facebook Community where I talk about all of these - would love to have you join if you wish. I know it is overwhelming and frustrating.... The Facebook Community is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthypassionatelife/
heyitsme (1 год назад)
I had a complete, radical hysterectomy. I needed to go on an estrogen of some sort. I was on estradiol for about 6 months then went off because of weight gain. I tried a compounded bioidentical cream for the next six months and it did absolutely nothing, I had horrific hot flashes, almost no sleep, etc. Felt like i was rubbing Jergens on my skin every day hoping it would help. I'm back on estradiol patch and have no symptoms, just an extra 20 lbs and I could afford to lose 50. Not sure where to go besides accepting the weight and be happy with not having severe symptoms.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hi, no it is not. It is synthetic. If you go off of it cold turkey your symptoms will get really intense (in most cases). Also - this could be causing you to gain weight, be bloated and retain water. So I would suggest talking to your doctor and start slowly coming off of it. I would not really tell him/her why as they will fight with you. They learn what they learn at conferences from the drug companies. They actually in most cases think it is the same - bioidentical and synthetic. They do not react the same in your body. They are just not educated at all on bioidentical hormones. What were your symptoms and reasons for going on the hormone? I may have some suggestions
Elisa Monast (1 год назад)
Hi Diana, I was searching for some answers and I found this video. I'm 47 yrs old. Had a hysterectomy a year ago. I'm on bio identical hormone therapy and feel good. My problem is that I can not loose weight. I'm extremely active and exercise a lot. I take 8 classes a week at the gym. I try to watch what I eat. I don't drink alcohol and can't loose weight. My goal is to loose 10-15 pounds and I just can't. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for this encouragement -- I've been really taking that time to take care of me the last year, but I was feeling a little guilty about being "so self-centered lately," and what you said helped me realize I'm actually doing the right thing. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you it's okay. :-) I've been experiencing awful cravings for cake and cookies, which I never really had in my life before -- I could always ignore that stuff, it seems to be harder now. Doing green smoothies and mineral salts does seem to help.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Hey Deborah - thanks so much for your comments. I totally agree!! We sure need to change the way women think about this. Because truly every person needs to take really good care of themselves. When we do, it benefits everyone. And also - when people take the responsibility for their health and wellness - themselves - that is very powerful. We cannot always rely on someone else. Except young children - of course! But also teaching our children as they grow up to take really good care of themselves. So important. And by us modelling that - they see it and it is seen as a "good thing" - not a selfish thing.

I'm only 24 years old !! Yesterday after getting my blood results .. I've been diagnosed with early menopause 😭💔
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
Wow, that is early. To check out information on "estrogen dominance" and how to decrease that. Plastics, microwaving in plastics, hormones in meat, drinking from to-go cups with plastic lids, etc. All contribute to estrogen dominance which of course then - hormonal changes.
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
I guess that is what you choose to believe. I will not use one for food at all.

Hi Diane. Is it normal to bloat when starting bioidentical estrogen and progesterone? I just started and I'm bloated and have a lot more breast pain? Should I stop the hormones?
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
It is possible. Also they are tricky to regulate. And when taking both - especially. Who prescribed them to you? I would ask a compounding pharmacist or a naturopath. Someone who can help you regulate them. But very possible. And that may change too.

Can you please tell me what bioidentical hormones you took? Where can I get them? Thanks!
Diana Marchand (1 год назад)
I took estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. There is a test you do first that determines what you need. It is a saliva test. You can try going to a Compounding Pharmacist (they are the ones who make up the creams for you). You need a prescription. If you have Naturopaths in your city - go to one of them. Your regular doctor "may" do that for you but often they just want to put you on synthetic hormones - which are very different. Don't go on those. Find someone that can prescribe bioidential hormones.

Hi - thanks so much! I took supplement formulations from a health food store. I also did energy work, accupuncture and I was on bioidentical hormones during perimenopause. These are natural hormones - not synthetic like the doctors give you. I also cleaned up my diet a LOT and did yoga and exercise.

Thank you so much Marie-Michelle - how nice of you. Your GP may not know that much as they don't really learn about hormonal changes (or hormones) at all. If he wishes to put you on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) - PLEASE SAY NO!!! I hope this is not too late. Best to see a naturopath - natural doctor for sure. Also feel free to watch more of my videos - more info and contact me on my site: http://dianamarchand.com/. I have a fantastic Facebook Community where I post a TON of info, motivation, recipes, meal ideas and so much more here is link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthypassionatelife/

Where can I find information on natural hormones that you spoke about?

Hi Rosemary! So glad you enjoyed the video. For bio-identical hormones you would go see a Naturopathic Doctor to get testing done and prescription for the bio-identical hormones. The place that makes them up (they are creams) is a "Compounding Pharmacy". If you live in Canada that is what you can do. I am not sure how the U.S. handles it but I imagine the same. Regular doctors can prescribe them but they don't really know anything about them and they do not think they are different than synthetic hormones. so important to go to a Naturopath to get them as they know the difference. Do not get synthetic hormones they work differently on your body and are very hard to get off of.
