Hi Ashley, I have been watching your videos and they been very helpful in every way in my life. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and insight on vegan products. I have a few questions regarding the sprays that you give to your girls. It says it is not intended for children, yet you give them. is that safe?

I am wondering about the label on the B-12. I bought that exact supplement thinking it would work for my husband, my kids and I but the bottle says not intended for children. I would love to give it to my kids but that made me wonder if I should. What do you think on that? I also have a 6 year old and 4 year old and I have a 1 year old.

I’m so confused by a diet that requires significant supplementation. Especially when there is a well constructed study that shows children raised on a vegan diet have lower IQ and cognitive function than standard American diet, the worst diet on the planet. Adults can do what they want but children need a totally different nutritional diet, and shouldn’t be raised vegan. Really heart breaking.

If someone told you they "personally felt" that it was okay to smoke in the same room as their developing kids, would you feel the same way? That it's a personal feeling and we can all do what we want? Or would you try to show them that, even though they feel their kids are healthy, there is evidence that smoking in the same room as them isn't in fact healthy? There is a big gap between the vegan diet and the standard American diet. Again, I'm not saying go start eating McDonald's every day, but consider something super healthy like wild sardines or wild salmon until they're adults and can make the choice themselves. You can literally do everything else vegan and the difference is massive. Not trying to shame, just educate.

While I do appreciate the links and research you share, they do nothing to change my mind. I have no desire to eat or feed my children animal products for a number of reasons. Personally I feel my children are healthier and have higher IQs than most children on a standard american diet since they rarely get sick, have no health ailments, are on no prescription medications, and are growing as expected for their age. Perhaps you should drive your passion for this topic into an outlet to inform others (that are interested) instead of shaming vegan parents.

This one talks about low stores of maternal and perinatal B12, and it's effect on child development, and that pregnant women are completely depleted of B12 if they are low to start, and that, inferred, the first child gets the most, and each one thereafter less B12, which hopefully you and other vegans understand is stored in the liver. Nonvegans store up to 7-10 years worth of B12 in their liver, so anyone changing to veganism will not notice B12 deficiency until after that time. But pregnant women lose B12 at a much faster rate, since they are supplying it to their fetus. Hence, more children born from a vegan mother start out more deplete than their older sibling. Pediatr Res. 1994 Aug;36(2):194-201. Methylmalonic acid and homocysteine in plasma as indicators of functional cobalamin deficiency in infants on macrobiotic diets. This one talks about the vegan diets vs "omnivore" diets (read: standard American diet) showing that in infants the cobalamin (B12) is dramatically low. Am J Clin Nutr. 1999 Apr;69(4):664-71. Risk of persistent cobalamin deficiency in adolescents fed a macrobiotic diet in early life. This one talks about how children raised on a vegan diet (0-6 years old) can't reverse the effects of the low B12 by switching to a non-vegan diet in adolescence. And the kicker: Am J Clin Nutr. 2000 Sep;72(3):762-9. Signs of impaired cognitive function in adolescents with marginal cobalamin status. Actual study measuring cognitive abilities of vegan-turned-nonvegan adolescents (0-6y vegan) vs lifelong omnivorous diet adolescents, showing that the latter group outperformed the former, despite switching to include animal products in their diet. *** Maybe this quick sampling of literature won't change your mind or conviction that veganism is the one true path. But look deep inside yourself. You're a good parent trying to do the best for your children. We all do as parents. Sometimes we are wrong about our approach though, and it's never too late to change. We used to think blood letting was good and it was the standard practice. Sometimes we're wrong. And being nonvegan doesn't mean you have to support the industrial agricultural complex. You can find a regenerative farmer that leaves the earth better than how they found it. You could literally feed your children a vegan diet plus one can a week of wild caught sustainably harvested sardines and provide them the B12, vitamin D (animal form), and DHA (animal form of omega 3) that their developing brains so desperately need. Vitamins and supplements will never replace nature. Please consider this.

Happy New Year!! One of your old YouTube videos popped up on my feed (my body after baby) and this one showed up after clicking. I’m so glad I did see it because it led me to this particular one. I’m like you when it comes to supplementing. I’m not a vegan, however, years back I was cleaning up mine/my kids diet & found a lot of great vegan/green recipes. I’m more Weston Price way of eating.... I am giddy that I see you have K2. Apparently my researching skills stink online. Thorne Research Labs and a few other ones I came across that had either too much or they told me via phone they cannot give kids dosage. I have to be careful with Vitamin D/K. Don’t want to overdo it. Is this brand new? It has to be because I googled like crazy and this never came up. Anyway- thank you for doing this. I’m sure eventually I would have seen something as I was hopeful. Btw. I give my kids magnesium. HUGE, HUGE, HUGELY important. For everyone. Dr. Perlmutter has a powered one on the market he partnered with Garden of Life brand. I ❤️ garden of life. YouTube Dr. Carolyn Dean & magnesium. Sooooooo important.

I thank GOD my kids can take the liquid. I’ll get Mary Ruth’s vitamin k2 and the vitamin D3 spray. Colleen got back with me on how many IUs and how many sprays etc. Isn’t this sad how we have to go this route just to make sure they’re not deficient. I do my best shopping nongmo/organic. Oh the reading for labels. Oy!! Keep up the great work. 😊

Thanks for sharing what you do. Glad to hear we have a lot in common with our  vitamins (sounds like you area  researcher like me too!). I'm not sure how long Mary Ruth's has been around...I just came across them this summer and so glad I did. Yes I love that the liquid nighttime multi mineral has magnesium in it. I do 1 tsp. for my 4 year old so I'd say close to that (she did 1 tsp. back when she was 3 and had just started the multivitamin liquid). I just do the extra d and b12 for good measure since we're vegan. ( :

Tip: For teens and preteens that drink protein shakes or smoothies, supplements can be added in and ready to go in the morning. For younger children, they can be added in oatmeal as long as the temperature isn’t too hot. We love the Garden of Life sprays in B12, C and D and leave them in the kitchen for the running behind mornings.

Love the smoothie tip too! I tried that with them for a while but they would never drink the whole smoothie and then miss the vitamins, but I bet older kids would drink it up. ( : LOL running behind mornings are my life too!

I really appreciated both videos on the vitamins you all are currently taking! Thank you for that! I find the suggested liquid vitamin bottle price to be pretty even with what I am already spending in capsule vitamins so I am pleased at that...I was curious what everyone's gripe was about the price- it's pretty spot on to other quality vitamins.

The girls and I all use the same vitamins so we go through most of them in a month, the dha/epa and K2 sometimes last 2 months. If anything I would just go with the morning liquid vitamin and nighttime multi mineral + a B12 if you are looking for more of  a budget option.  ( :
