Animal House movie clips: http://j.mp/1ux3yfL BUY THE MOVIE: http://amzn.to/rK8A7T Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Bluto (John Belushi) spits mashed potatoes on the Omegas, inciting a food fight. FILM DESCRIPTION: Director John Landis put himself on the map with this low-budget, fabulously successful comedy, which made a then-astounding 62 million dollars and started a slew of careers for its cast in the process. National Lampoon's Animal House is set in 1962 on the campus of Faber College in Faber, PA. The first glimpse we get of the campus is the statue of its founder Emil Faber, on the base of which is inscribed the motto, "Knowledge Is Good." Incoming freshmen Larry "Pinto" Kroger (Tom Hulce) and Kent "Flounder" Dorfman (Stephen Furst) find themselves rejected by the pretentious Omega fraternity, and instead pledge to Delta House. The Deltas are a motley fraternity of rejects and maladjusted undergraduates (some approaching their late twenties) whose main goal -- seemingly accomplished in part by their mere presence on campus -- is disrupting the staid, peaceful, rigidly orthodox, and totally hypocritical social order of the school, as represented by the Omegas and the college's dean, Vernon Wormer (John Vernon). Dean Wormer decides that this is the year he's going to get the Deltas expelled and their chapter decertified; he places the fraternity on "double secret probation" and, with help from Omega president Greg Marmalard (James Daughton) and hard-nosed member Doug Neidermeyer (Mark Metcalf), starts looking for any pretext on which to bring the members of the Delta fraternity up on charges. The Deltas, oblivious to the danger they're in, are having a great time, steeped in irreverence, mild debauchery, and occasional drunkenness, led by seniors Otter (Tim Matheson), Hoover (James Widdoes), D-Day (Bruce McGill), Boon (Peter Riegert), and pledge master John "Bluto" Blutarsky (John Belushi). They're given enough rope to hang themselves, but even then manage to get into comical misadventures on a road trip (where they arrange an assignation with a group of young ladies from Emily Dickinson University). Finally, they are thrown out of school, and, as a result, stripped of their student deferments (and, thus, eligible for the draft). They decide to commit one last, utterly senseless (and screamingly funny) slapstick act of rebellion, making a shambles of the university's annual homecoming parade, and, in the process, getting revenge on the dean, the Omegas, and everyone else who has ever gone against them. Dear God, Zuse, The Force, Ancient Allians or who's ever the creator.. Give us John Belushi back. And we will give you Amy Shchumer.. If you just go by the pound. You'll make 100 to 1 on the trade..

I don’t purposely mean to sound like a pig but the beginning of this clip makes me want to reenact Bluto and grabbing everything I see that looks good from the shelf and picking out.

My parents took my brother, sister and I to see this when it opened. My brother was 16, I was 13 and my sister was 11. We were the only kids in line to get in. Pop had no clue. He asked what we wanted to see and my brother convinced him to see Animal House, because Belushi was in it. Pop loved John on SNL. When Otter pulled the dildo out of the doctors bag he laughed, put his hand up to his head and said, "What did I bring my kids to see?!" Half the stuff I didn't get (yes, a different time for kids), but loved seeing the boobs, lol.

Good point made by prior commentary. Omega’s we’re ready to bully Otter and Blutto came in and defended his friend. Took all the swagger away from the omegas.

Can anyone tell me please if this is the original song in this scene? I have a DVD version that played a song, that I always thought was different than the one I heard the first time I saw the film. The version I have has a song with the line, ' (someone) goes and comes with me.' Thanks in advance.

As another poster pointed out, the scene with Bluto going down the chow line was improvised. Director John Landis told John Belushi to just do things with the food, and told his cameraman to just follow and film Belushi. The whole scene is terrific and the expression on Bluto's face when he pockets (steals) some of the sandwiches makes the bit that much funnier. He knew he was doing wrong! LMAO! I don't know how Belushi got that whole sandwich into his mouth without choking! And the Jello slurping was also a great piece of comedy by itself. The 'eyebrow wave' is also comic genius. Belushi steals every scene he is in, even when he isn't the center of attraction in the film. "I'm a zit, get it!?" --Bluto
GMD Azure (2 years ago)
Hilarious improv! Comedy gold :D love this movie!!

that sound when he eats the jello cracks me up every time
freeguy77 (2 years ago)
+John Kennedy Slurping sound. Might be a sound effect and not something Belushi did by himself. Nice pic, John!

Fun Fact: The Scene is improvised, the reactions of the blonde guy and Tim Matheson are genuine
GV Games (17 days ago)
Some films have improvisation... I am not sure here. The guys reaction when he calls Belushi a bastard seems like acting.
Sigma0283 (28 days ago)
The whole part where John Belushi is getting all the food was also improvised including the part where he eats the hamburger in one go. Director John Landis urged the camera operator to "stay with him".

anthead art (1 year ago)
"improvised" there's at least 4 camera angles, do you think they just turned them all on at one time? and you can't see the other cameras in each shot... ? at best it was "improvised" in the sense that the script didn't have dialogue for belushi
wiisalute (2 years ago)
god I wish I could do the eyebrow thing. how the hell do you do it?

He also urged the camera operator to "stay with him".
goutvols103 (3 months ago)
The director Landis, was right off camera when Belushi was in the food line; telling him what do eat and put items in his pocket or on the tray.
Eryk Pawlik (7 months ago)
It couldn't be improvised. There's a dual camera action.
John Castillo (7 months ago)
Wasn't it just the beginning that was improvised, him eating all that food. I doubt everything after that was improvised.
Metal Fan Dave (3 years ago)
+Ana “The Infamous Hater” Mendoza I think a lot of what Belushi did was. I'm willing to bet that sceen, where he is peeping on the girl on the ladder, the part where he turn to look at the camera, I'd bet that was too.

What a great improv scene by Belushi, bravo he truly was a talented man. He did it all and he was one of my inspirations on getting on SNL....Hey it could happen. Also I'm excited to see how Emile Hirsch is going to portray him in the upcoming movie bout this talented and amazing man. RIP BELUSHI.
