Create A DIY Sliding Door Bookshelf

Оценок: 2251 | Просмотров: 114774
In this video I create a reclaimed wood bookshelf with some sliding "Barn Door " style rolling track using simple woodworking. I make everything handmade from the local home store and don't use a welder! This piece has a very "rehab addict" feel to it, and i couldn't be happier with the results. oh , and NO WELDING! I know you run through a lot of planer & jointer blades. The reclaimed wood is brutal on prepping. I deal with antique heart pine and sinker cypress, and the pine is always loaded with nails. I use a metal detector but still doesn’t catch all the nails.

Yea it’s the worst. I have helical heads which is nice

First time seeing your page. Seriously good work. It's great to see DIY channels with great production values. Adds so much more professionalism to the amazing stuff you make. Out of curiosity, how long did this take if you were to factor in hours? I just couldn't tell if it was a whole day until you stained, or filmed over a duration of days.
John Malecki (1 год назад)
+Jaydeep Brar a week. Glue up and some other stuff going on

Hey John! Couple things 1. been listening to the podcast for a while now SUPER informative and great stuff. helping a buddy with some tips for his channel over at @Vinson McMurtery Drums. 2. Did you say "cup side down" or "cut side down"? wasn't sure what cup side was but I'm totally new to terminology in woodworking so wanted to make sure. Keep up the good work brother.

Ya man. These arent heavy but was a super easy answer and money saver. I would suggest a bulkier wheel for a bigger door.

John, At about 1:22 or so you where cleaning up the rough edge on the table saw. I noticed a lot of sparks coming off. Curious what causes that. I know you de-nail the lumber, is it just dirt or grime. What are your thoughts. Love the hardware tips BTW, my daughter wants something just like this. Thanks John. BTW loving the POD cast. #madeforprofit
Chase Beazer (1 год назад)
DeWalt has some new blades that go through nails just in case you miss one here and there it won't destroy your blades. I haven't used them yet but I have heard they are nice. Maybe something to check out since you do so many reclaimed wood builds. Awesome build, thanks for the video.

You should look at cheap spray gun and spray the stain on larger projects, then come behind and wipe it. Great project!

"NO WELDING!" HERESY! unsubscribed. JK, for a long time i cursed every time i saw a nice project that requiered a tool i didnt have, so i can get why people would like that.
John Malecki (1 год назад)
Well i wanted to show you can do some metal work with just a drill and bolts and an angle grinder. Dont always need to spark, even though i love it! Thank you

Nice work. I see you cut through a couple of nails with your table saw. Does this affect your saw stop at all with it's electronic triggering? Do you have to turn anything off first? Thanks, looking to get a saw stop but not sure if it can distinguish between fingers and nails.
John Malecki (1 год назад)
Have it in bypass wen i do that.
