all you keep saying is bullying the body. never heard a doctor talk like this. to me your a fake!!!!! just because your sitting behind a desk with a wall full of degrees doesn"t mean your a doctor!!! you look fake and sound fake. you sound like your reading off a card...you could be sitting at your friends desk pretending to be a doctor!!! people dont believe everything you hear........................
Sad to see such negativity in your heart. I am here to help and get the Truth out there! You have never heard a doctor talk like this because they are robots controlled by the Big Pharma! I drug bullies your bodies normal physiology! There's nothing about that statement that is fake!! You should probably educate yourself on how 'Drugs' work in the body, they change normal function through a chemical reaction there for 'bullying' normal function to temporarily suppress a symptom! Drugs don't fix anything, people are starting to understand that and are wanting to get to the root cause of a particular symptom. If you just want to take drugs to cover up symptoms, don't be hatful towards us Docs that are truly trying to improve people overall health! God Bless!

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2002. After an initial spell of failed "diet" control, I was prescibed Metformin and Starlix. The Starlix (Nateglinide) was supposed to be for short term blood sugar relief and the Metformin was supposedly for longer term. In practice the Metformin would give me diarrhea and I would also feel down on energy and had occasional bloating. EVENTUALLY, after several years of this regime, new doctors took me off Metformin and put me on Glucophage SR. Now , that is still Metformin, but is genuinely slow release. The Starlix was replaced by a one a day Gliclazide. Even after all this I was given small amounts of Insulin (slow and fast acting). The one thing that is definite is the diarrhea, bloating etc have all ceased. There are very occasional low blood sugars, but that all depends on the balance of food versus the medication and any exercise. According to Dr Eric Berg, type 2 diabetes has a lot to do with the Liver underperforming rather than the Pancreas. The Liver really needs green vegetables in the diet in order to function properly (and even recover if it has been abused by a poor diet). Removal of alcohol from the diet is important to aid liver recovery (consider the case of George Best for instance).

My doctor told me to push through the diarrhoea but that was impossible - the effects on the skin of constant diarrhoea is incredibly painful - like having a blow torch up your bum - not sustainable! I now eat a low carb, plant based diet and my blood sugars are good.

I was diagnosed with type 2 on July 10th 2018. I take 2 metformin each day. Had diarrhea on day 2 and then big red spots all across my chest and arms. I never normally get spots or zits. After that I have had no problems. I have increased my exercise and drastically reduced my beer intake. I have also changed my diet big time. I monitor my blood level with a OneTouch meter. My average blood reading over 25 readings over 5 days is 7.8. I have also lost ten pounds. Thank god I have type 2 and not type 1. I am determined to get slim, clean up my diet and stay healthy.

All these people who are critical of Metformin are getting paid to do so,not everyone is suited for this med, it's all politics ,..I've been on it for five-six years now and never had a problem, and i'm seventy six almost, and my type two diab. is perfectly in control and my numbers are great... Companies are jealous , its the same with other meds and asshole companies. When you are a diabetic you have to do what is right , eat right ,work out and most of all.......commitment is the key word.

Julie Griffith; Thanks for your post giving me this opportunity! Like you; I have decided to comment on this link in support of your message with the hope those who have time to read your post to the end will simply share this information. And, make people aware of the horrific side affects even after treatment with medications like Metformin and others on your body, as it continues to struggle with itself in trying to regulate the spiking/dropping of blood sugar levels.. It's a very long and I believe hopeless process and how it ruins your cardiovascular and renal systems; how drugs that are prescribed may encourage the onset of dementia. Diabetes is very invasive and destructive to your body.

I am so glad I rejected all medications for my Type 2 diabetes. I had an Hba1C result of 65 in October. I getting rid of grains, potatoes and Sugar I got my Hba1C level down to 49 in March and 40 in June. I have now reversed my Type 2 diabetes through diet alone. I have never felt more energised, and I have lost almost 3 stone in 8 months. Down from 17 stone to nearly 14 stone. Another 2 stone to loose ! Type 2 diabetes is a dietary problem requiring a dietary solution not a medical one.

Today, *CelluliteFact Com* has substantially smoothed away all the obvious look of that terrible cellulite from my new, smooth skin. My skin is substantially more flexible and milder as well. Elevated blood sugar is NOT a disease. Hyperglycemia naturally occurs according to diet, exercise, genes, age, stress, etc. The causes of complications of Diabetes such as Nerve damage (neuropathy). ... Kidney damage (nephropathy). ... Eye damage (retinopathy). ... Foot damage. ... Skin conditions. ... are not Hyperglycemia but toxic load, lowered immunity, lowered function of Kidneys, Liver, Spleen, etc. You only need herbs to treat and cure your so called complications of Diabetes.

My doctors who have treated me for transverse myelitus and sarcoidosis successfully work out of the internal medicine section of the hospital They are real believers in medications for health I have certain reservations as they now want to treat me as a pre diabetic and have arbitrarily put me on metformin First two weeks started on 1000 mg /day then 2000mg /day after that I've had diarrhea and heart palpitations they also put me on preventative cholesterol medication I don't have high blood sugar and I never had heart problems I am 60yrs old and could use some weight loss I'm down to 245lbs from 260 Lost the weight mostly from diet modification as my exercise ability is limited to slow walking with a cane I had been swimming but now with the ever impending diarrhea I am excluding swimming as a possibility I think the metformin is doing more harm than good in my case I don't like the way it bullies my digestive system I know my only real way off this roller coaster is through indisputable weight loss Hate to contradict doctors orders because your always worried they'll put you in a category of a patient who does not cooperate For now I'm kind of resisting taking my metformin especially after a bout of diarrhea How can you take this med when you need to take it with food and the food isn't digesting properly I found out almost inadvertently that I should avoid bread pasta rice Rice? Hell I was eating rice to stop the diarrhea and now I'm told it causes the diarrhea? .It is confusing but basically I guess I have to eat veg protein and avoid carbs that don't agree with my system I'll start swimming again if I can lose the loose stool Gotta lose weight and get off this roller coaster These videos are helpful for the info and different opinions and allowing a person to think things through because everyone has similar problems but everyone is different

IMO, most of the problem with diabetes is being over weight. I believe if I dropped 50-60 pounds and had the active life style I had when I was younger, I wouldn't have type 2 diabetes. I'm 69 6' 1" and 260 pounds. As long as I do my treadmill for 3.5 miles, 4% incline at 3.4 mph for one hour, I seem to keep my blood sugar under control. It's a life style behavior we learn when young and carry that behavior into our senior years. The more disciplined you are about eating and exercise the less likely you are to having diabetes. You may be able to prolong your life with healthy habits but in the end we are all going to die anyway. Enjoy your journey.
SpiritBear12 (2 месяца назад)
That's not true. Not all people who are over weight are diabetic, and not all diabetics are fat. I've known slim diabetics. Sure, exercising reduces the sugar in the blood because your muscles are using it. But even when we are younger, and not that active, one's blood sugar doesn't go nuts. Something happens later on in life that changes the way sugars are regulated. A better low carb diet sure helps to keep the sugars at bay, but there is still the problem of something in the body malfunctioning for some reason.

I am Eighty years old, 6’3” tall and I am slightly overweight at 13 stone 10 lbs. I carefully watch what I eat and drink, no treats or alcohol, and I am trying to lose more weight by not overeating. I liked Metformin , using it and an occasional Glyclazide I controlled my blood levels better than I ever had before. I have been Diabetic since 1996 and probably a long time before that. Last year, 2017, I went into Hospital due to trouble with my knees and while I was there a Doctor discovered my Kidneys were only functioning half as well as they had been 6 months before? He immediately took me off Metformin and Glyclazide and arranged appointments with a Nephrologist who I am still seeing. I have since discovered I am one of a small section of the population who’s Kidneys are affected by this type of Drug. Not only that but I have also discovered it is advised that anyone who takes Metformin should have their Kidney Function checked Annually!!

A very encouraging video. I commend you on your rational approach to exploring the origin of symptoms and what initiated the uproar and disapproval of your body balancing monitors in response to this disruption of homiostasis. You have impressed the hell out of me by being courageous and by standing firm on your conviction to cure rather than control or limit symptoms with a poorly conceived and executed treatment plan...which seems to be more the norm today in modern pharmaceutical compound oriented medical practice. Thank you for posting this and for being concerned for your patients' health. Sincerely, Phil

This doctor is right..I am a type2 diabetic and had been on metformin, but the side effects made me more sicker,so i stop using it and is using a glucoach product, which is natural and with an immune molecule that is very helpful. Basically, you are referring to diabetic patients only and not those with PCOS? I don't have an official PCOS dx but I've had 8 pregnancies, 4 losses and 4 children with a history of anovulation. However, I do experience the dawn phenomenon and have since my first GD pregnancy 13 years ago. I have asked to be tested for adrenal fatigue and was told it's just too complicated for my GP to diagnose. Currently I take metformin and lisinopril and I know for a fact that the metformin is raising my blood pressure which is extremely frustrating since...."that's highly unusual" is all I get for a response. Unusual reactions to medication is normal for me, my body hates medication. I do have some positive effects from the metformin so far and want to continue with it. I'm not type 2, I'm pre-diabetic. I think my issues are from the combo of metformin and lisinopril, but I am allergic to nifedipine and labetelol and not sure what else to try.

News Reports around World Describe Multiple Benefits The media has caught up to the potential health benefits of metformin, something our long-term supporters discovered long ago. What caught the media’s attention was the FDA’s approval of the first human study to see if metformin can protect against the multiple diseases of aging. Prominent headlines around the world proclaimed: “New Anti-Aging Drug Could Extend Human Life Span to 120 Years” Metformin of course is not a new drug. It was approved in England in 1957 and made available to type II diabetics around the world shortly thereafter. It took the FDA a staggering 37 years to approve it in the United States. Here are some accurate quotes from worldwide news sources: News Reports around World Describe Multiple Benefits “Although it might seem like science fiction, researchers have already proven that the diabetes drug metformin extends the life of animals, and the Food and Drug Administration in the US has now given the go-ahead for a trial to see if the same effects can be replicated in humans.” “I have been doing research into aging for 25 years and the idea that we would be talking about a clinical trial in humans for an anti-aging drug would have been thought inconceivable…20 years ago aging was a biological mystery. Now we are starting to understand what is going on.” “Scientists think the best candidate for an anti-aging drug is metformin, the world’s most widely used diabetes drug, which costs just 10p [15 cents] a day. Metformin increases the number of oxygen molecules released into a cell, which appears to boost robustness and longevity.”

While in Vietnam, 50 years ago, I was drenched in a lot of things, including Agent Orange. 40 years ago I was (finally) diagnosed with diabetes. Starting with 1 500mg pill a day, I am now up to 4/day, plus Glipizide, 10 mg 2X/day, and now, my latest pride and joy, Saxagliptin HCL 2.5 mg 1X/day. Plus all of the other meds I take for depression, anxiety, COPD, numbness in the hand, feet and lower legs, not to mention prostate issues, high cholesterol & high blood pressure. If anything, I might fear dying from a bolus of that plastic stuff congealing in my gut. I am 72 and live in Eastsound, WA (about 100 miles N of Seattle) and am practically homebound.

But when I go for a check up the Dr. wants me to continue to take drugs and I don't understand why. Thank you for your information.

I'm giving up on this garbage. I had become lazy and unmotivated and my numbers began to suffer so I was seeking a quick fix. So my doc prescribed metfartin. Been on it for around a month and feeling like I have a hangover every day. I don't even drink, but I sure remember what a hangover feels like and it feels like this. So I have decided to start weaning myself off of it, or maybe cutting the dose. I am a type 1 diabetic and really don't need it. I simply WANTED an easy way to use less insulin.

Dr. Miller - aging itself leans many of us into insulin resistance. I wake up with glucose of 94 pretty much every day and I’m on a plant based low carb diet...no processed foods and no sugars. I’m normal weight for height and exercise daily. My doc is having me take a berberine supplement to see if I can get lower fasting glucose. We need to lower it because high glucose causes inflammation and I have Lp(a) inherited and I can’t have inflammation or too much Lp(a) forms plaques. I’m plaque free at the moment and want to remain that way!

When we prescibe medications we balance the risk vs benefits. This is from extensive research. Dont forget diabetes is assiciated with several life threatening complications many if which are irreversible. Yes some people may get some of the side effects but in general all studies done on metformin show it gives more benefits than the risks. For patients seeing this please understand that control of diabetes is paramount. Evaluate the risk vs benefit from any inervention and factor in the long term effectiveness if any treatment taking into consideration that you have to control your diabetes.

I have been suspicious for a long time of all these diabetic dx...suspected a pharmaceutical "scam" and push. My pharmacist suspected the same when I approached him about it too. And sadly, I have been dx with type II for a few years, but refused to take the medicine. The side effects scared me to death. I have Lupus so I seem to be hypersensitive to nearly everything, so I have always been protective of that and what meds I take. But after a terrible flare up with Lupus, I had to start taking Janumet, so here we are....Then a few years ago and not much later than the diabetes dx, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos. Hello.... Long story short, I believe that my thyroid and Hashimotos is the cause. No one taught me a thing about this auto immune disease except that it generally is known for "accompanying" Lupus and Diabetes. I have since learned a great deal only recently through a lot of reading about Hashimotos, and although I haven't read anything like this, I really do believe that Hashimotos, or the effects on my thyroid is...what do you think? Am I crazy, or does this make sense?

Metformin is used with those conditions because it can have an effect on your hormones. There is a specific reason why women develop PCOS and/or fibroid cysts. There is a underlying hormone imbalance that is causing it. We need to test your hormones and find out where the imbalance is and start to correct that issue. Metformin is never a good long term solution. Call our office to set up a free 15 min consult with Dr. Miller. 859.219.0617

Type II Diabetes always seems to lead to a cancer. I felt it deeply, years before the Doctor came to me with the Hi PSA Count from the labs, that I would wind up with it too. Wat urks me the most... I asked my Doctor early on to please test my liver for Cancer. Reply was, there is nothing wrong with your liver. ! ! ! Liver cancer killed my mother, as well as yet another friend later. Why would they refuse to just run a test? They all seem so driven to test everything else!!

Hi Doctor, can you make a video about inhalable insulin Afrezza? I just saw it on TV, they said it's a break through in science and that it's life changing. I'm very interested in knowing how and why it's life changing - Thanks.

Metformin got me so sick like I was dying . I came off of that n did my own natural way . I watched what I ate , exercised , drank lemon water every morning along with cinnamon warm water n honey . I'm pre diabetes free after 30 days ..all these pills will kill u n make the manufacturers rich .. just my opinion..

Well goodness who's telling the truth. One doctor praises metformin and this doctor is saying metformin isn't good at all to take. I know when I first started taking metformin it made me hungry.

No one has a deficiency of metformin. Elevated blood sugar is a symptom of a physiology gone wrong. Fix the root cause of the problem.....TOO MANY CARBS.

The more I look into high triglycerides combined with diabetes, the more apparent it becomes that we are just hopelessly throwing monkey wrenches into a very complex machine and hoping we don't get NASH.

I also stopped taking metformin because it gave me headache and made me feel sick. It feels almost like radiation or something. Now I have more energy. Maybe the adrenaline., but I workout to fix the adrenaline. Plus I stopped taking my mental meds which caused my diabetes in the first place. My new psychiatrist said I was jus5 diagnosed with schizophrenia. So I do not need anti psychotic .

Hello Doc! I have been thinking about weaning myself off of Metformin and Glipizide for a while now but kinda scared to do so! Is there a safe way of weaning myself off of Metformin and Glipizide with proper diet & exercise?

I have lost weight with Met, butttttttt every time I take it my ferritin gets way to low 4. regardless of iron supplements it keeps lowering. Anemia is not fun! When I stop taking it my Ferritin goes up. Dr says its not related. I don't suffer from gastric issues with met, just the ferritin issue :/
