Nuclear And Power Plants Targeted By Hackers

00:41
Hackers thought to be working for a foreign government have reportedly infiltrated the computer networks of power plants across the United States. according to an urgent joint report issued June 28 by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, Security specialists have been responding to attacks at various nuclear power and energy facilities since May. the agencies said they "are aware of a potential cyber intrusion affecting entities in the energy sector.” the attacks reportedly affected at least a dozen power plants, including the Wolf Creek nuclear facility in Kansas. The chief suspect behind the attacks is currently Russia. https://www.buzzfeed.com/briannasacks/hackers-have-been-targeting-us-nuclear-and-power-plants?utm_term=4ldqpia http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

St. Louis & MANY More Radioactive Updates (Nuclear Hotseat #228)

59:21
THIS WEEK’S INTERVIEWS: Byron DeLear lives within seven miles of the West Lake Landfill that contains 43,000 to 48,000 TONS OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE THAT IS LEAKING AND is NEAR AN UNCONTAINED FIRE BURNING FOUR YEARS Already. He has been involved in clean energy issues as chairman and CEO of Energy Equity Funding. He is a columnist with Examiner.com, was founder of Global Peace Solution, and is currently running for state representative. We talked about the legal situation that makes West Lake ineligible for the federal FUSRAP clean-up program of Superfund sites — and how that might be turned around. Mimi German is the founder of RadCast, (Radcast.org) which helps citizen activists learn how to take accurate radiation readings, then compiles their data to figure out what’s going on – radiologically speaking – wherever the EPA has fallen down on the job… which is just about everywhere. She can be contacted directly at: Info@Radcast.org. NUMNUTZ OF THE WEEK: Wanna know how to get around having verifiable radiation readings at a nuclear site? Don’t hire anyone to do the job when your current staff leaves! Workers, we’re not in Kansas any more, but the Wolf Creek nuclear reactor still is! THIS WEEK’S NEWS: Entergy announces upcoming closure of Fitzpatrick nuclear reactor in upstate New York when its tank runs empty, er, when it’s time to refuel and they won’t. Nevada nuke waste dump explosion and fire only 120 miles from Las Vegas and 21 from Nevada test site. EPA admits to shutting off 99 of its only 135 radiation monitors around the country. If you don’t have any data, it can’t be contested. Planned deniability? Explosion and fire at Doel nuclear reactors in Belgium near Antwerp. WikiLeaks: CIA Caught Planting Malicious Software In Windows – Codename ‘Angelfire’

10:24
All Windows machines have been infiltrated by the CIA under a project codenamed ‘Angelfire’ – allowing the U.S. government to load malicious programs onto a persons computer without their knowledge. The latest release from WikiLeaks’ Vault 7 series reveals CIA documents that detail an implant that can allow Windows machines to create undetectable libraries. ‘Angelfire’ consists of five elements – ‘Solartime,’‘Wolfcreek,’ ‘Keystone,’ ‘BadMFS,’ and the ‘Windows Transitory File system.’ Rt.com reports: ‘Solartime’ modifies the partition boot sector of Windows XP or Windows 7 machines when installed, allowing the ‘Wolfcreek’ implant to load and execute. ‘Wolfcreek’ can then load and execute other ‘Angelfire’ implants. Previously known as ‘MagicWand,’ ‘Keystone’ loads malicious user applications on the machine which never touch the file system, leaving “very little forensic evidence that the process ever ran” according to WikiLeaks. ‘BadMFS’ is described as a library which stores all drivers and implants that ‘Wolfcreek’ can activate. In some versions it can be detected, but in most it’s encrypted and obfuscated, making it undetectable to string or PE header scanning, used to detect malware. ‘Windows Transitory File system’ is used to install ‘AngelFire,’ according to the release, allowing the addition or removal of files from it. WikiLeaks says the leaked ‘Vault 7’ documents came from within the CIA, which has in turn refused to confirm their authenticity. Previous releases include details on CIA hacking tools used to weaponize mobile phones, compromize smart TVs and the ability to trojan the Apple OS. I Ride My XR650L Dual Sport to Satsop WA.

03:01
I ride to a small town called Satsop. In this town there is an unfinished nuclear power plant. Some info on the plant. Looming ominously over a verdant river valley near Elma, Washington, the twin cooling towers of Unit 3 and 5 of the Satsop Nuclear Power Plant serve as memorials to an ambitious plan by Washington State to revolutionize energy production. It was the early 1970s, and a consortium of municipal power companies joined together for an auspicious mufti-billion dollar plan to build five nuclear power plants across the state that would create over 6 Gigawatts of electricity. Washington State already produced the most hydroelectric power in the country, but statewide demand for electricity was growing by 7% every year, and nuclear power was nominated as the solution. Three plants were to be built in or near the Hanford Nuclear Reservation on the Columbia River, and two others were planned for this site near the Satsop River. The Washington Public Power Supply System (or "Whoops" as it was later mocked), ran into severe financial and public perception problems when the plants at Satsop were only 76% complete. Construction costs had run $960 million over budget, and American citizens were reeling from the shock of the Three Mile Island incident in New York, bringing the WPPSS to collapse in 1983. Only one of the 5 planned facilities was ever completed and activated: Washington Nuclear Power Unit 2, now called the Columbia Generating Station, located on the Hanford Reservation far to the south and east of its ill-fated siblings at Satsop. No radioactive fuel was ever brought to the Satsop facility. The turbines that would create electricity, and all other machinery associated with the reactors, have been removed and liquidated. But the cooling towers remain. A vertigo-inducing 46 stories high, the concrete towers can be seen for miles, and are regularly used as landmarks for trans-continental flights. The Satsop facility lay dormant for a decade until the Grays Harbor County government petitioned WPPSS to leverage the site for economic development. A top of the line communications infrastructure has been one of the incentives that brought businesses to the renamed Satsop Development Park. Steel tank manufacturers, an internet service provider and a commercial drivers' training program now all conduct business under the shadows of the towers. Music by http://www.danosongs.com

Nuclear Problems in the USA! By Arnie Gundersen

22:11
Podcast: November 21, 2012; Thanksgiving Edition: Financial Pressures Are Affecting Safety Decisions at the Nations Nuclear Power Plants November 21, 2012 http://www.fairewinds.com/content/fairewinds-podcast Nuclear Expert Arnie Gundersen, Fairewinds Energy Education: We had 2 more in the last 2 weeks raise the issue of their not being financially viable. Oyster Creek isn't the only reactor that's experiencing financial problems, we've got Kewaunee we know about, but 2 others have popped up on the radar this week and they're surprising because they're newer reactors. At about 12:00 minutes into the podcast: The Wolf Creek reactor announced it's looking for a partner to share engineering with [...] And Callaway said the same thing. Both of these are new reactors in the Midwest. They're saying basically that the costs to run a nuclear reactor makes them uncompetitive in today's environment. So we've had 4 reactors in the last month talking about they're having trouble making economic sense about running. Kewaunee, Oyster Creek, Callaway, and Wolf Creek. And you've got to believe that there are others out there too. Arnie explains that Oyster Creek is the only nuclear plant in the US that lacks a modern High Pressure Safety Injection System. ; This means that the recently discovered pipe crack in a 3 inch pipe at Oyster Creek would create a serious safety threat if it were to completely break. & Arnie also discusses the cost of operating nuclear plants, and how many nuclear plants around the country are no longer a low cost electric producer. & Finally, Arnie looks at the three nuclear plants with extended shutdowns (Ft. Calhoun, San Onofre and Crystal River) and concludes that the cost of maintaining large staffs when no electricity is being produced is not in the best interests of the ratepayers. South Korea will not eat dirty fish from Fukushima Japan

07:48
South Korea should bring class action lawsuits (asking China, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, US, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore and Hong Kong together) against Japan for hurting fishery business. Japan made the mess, they can clean it up by eating it. I hope they enjoy their sushi from Fuk-ur-shit-ma = Fukushima. Japanese government is dumping radioactive waste water from Fukushima to Pacific Ocean and now they want to turn on those nuclear stations again in their earthquake country. Fukushima radioactive waste has been detected in tuna near west coast of the US. Before wasting your money for the Japanese products, think about this that they are screwing us. Currently, Japan is ran by Shinzo Abe who is grand son of Class A war criminal under Hideki Tojo who bombed Pearl Harbor and responsible for policy of torture & killing POW. IAEA isn't going to do anything to Japan for awhile. The world is screwed with Japanese Yukiya Amano as head of IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) department. He said Fukushima was act of mother nature and not a human error but that is a complete lie. He is trying hard to let Japan keep nuclear power while risking everybody's lives with another potential major nuclear accident in Japan. Japan is sitting on moving earth crust. One of these days, it will go under and drag 54 of their nuclear power plants with it and destroy humankind. This is not if but when. Countries with lot of earthquakes like Japan should be banned from using nuclear power plants. There are alternate power sources available like wind and wave power. Japan has 2nd largest foreign reserves in the world with $1.2 trillion dollars which they can use but they are trying to save money and decided to turn on their nuclear plants again after Fukushima accident. First one they opened was Kyushu island because they thought it was safe being far away from Fukushima but it was hit by another major earthquakes in 4/15/16. Nowhere is safe from earthquakes in Japan but they plan to open 4 more nuclear plants soon. This is a madness and the whole world closed blind eyes to Japan. I am not against nuclear power but earthquakes country like Japan should be banned from using nuclear plants. It's a common sense.

Nuclear Watch: Fukushima fishermen against water release plan 9/18/2014

01:09
Fukushima fishermen against water release plan Nuclear & Energy Sep. 18, 2014 - Updated 12:59 UTC+2 Fishermen have voiced opposition to a plan for well water from around the crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant to be dumped into the ocean. About 90 fishermen attended a briefing held in Iwaki City in Fukushima on Thursday by Tokyo Electric Power Company. The plan involves removing radioactive particles from the water before discharging it, and is part of TEPCO's efforts to reduce the buildup of contaminated water at the site. Company officials said they would only release decontaminated groundwater after tests confirm radiation levels are below safe levels. Many fishermen said they are not convinced about the safety of water to be released into the sea. They said it could still be contaminated to a certain degree. They said if problems occurred and highly contaminated water were accidentally released, the negative media coverage would destroy Fukushima's fishing industry. TEPCO has agreed to a request by fishermen to hold another briefing, as not all the fishermen who wanted to attend could get into the meeting space. One of the participants said the electric power company should do more research and present data that will be more convincing to fishermen.

Farm Factor - Financial Side of the Water Plan with Earl Lewis - Tuesday, September 13, 2016

04:11
(Jamie) Welcome back to Farm Factor with Kyle and Earl. (Kyle Bauer) We're visiting with Earl Lewis. Earl is the Assistant Director of the Water Office. Earl, we want to talk about funding and how the state pays for its water plan. Let's just start with that and then we'll work into John Redmond. (Earl Lewis) You bet. In 1989 the legislature passed the State Water Plan Fund to really try and implement the practices and programs that were coming out of the Water Plan based on a set of fees and some statewide sources. It has been pretty stable over the years but it's been pretty level as well, and it funds a variety of programs, projects and a lot of things just trying to implement water and make things better for Kansans. (Kyle) Now you have a fiscal responsibility for some of the maintenance costs at the reservoirs, how do you get that money? (Earl) Well, in addition to the Water Plan Fund, we do operate a raw water utility and sell water, if you will, to municipal industrial customers. They pay essentially the state's cost to purchase that storage from Corps of Engineers. Cost for the debt service as well as the cost for operating and maintenance and our cost for running the program as well, comes really from our customers. (Kyle) Now, you own a portion of the storage capacity and a number of Corps Reservoirs in the state of Kansas. All of them would have some sedimentation problems. How is it that you chose John Redmond for this first, I'll call it pilot program, is it fair to call it a pilot program? (Earl) It is fair to call it a pilot program and all of our reservoirs do have some level of sedimentation problem. If you look at John Redmond it doesn't really, It's not the most sediment in and neither is it the fastest. The reason it was picked is because, again, trying to make sure that we're providing good service to our customers, and so as we looked at that and said, "How are we able to make sure we have water for our customers?" In that case, those communities downstream and in Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant. We looked and said, "Can we make it through a 50's drop and make sure we have water for everybody?" That was the one that we had the most trouble ensuring that we could meet our customers' demands. (Kyle) When you looked at John Redmond and the dredging, that sort of a dredging project isn't used many other places. (Earl) It's not. It's an expensive process. We did a lot of research on other projects, other programs around the nation; Ohio, Iowa, South Dakota, all have had or do have different dredging programs that run at the state level. But most of those, all of those really are for recreation, cleaning up marinas, cleaning out boat ramps, those type of things. Nowhere in the nation had a non-Federal entity, a state or community gone into a Corps of Engineers Reservoir and dredged for the purpose of restoring storage and creating water supply. While there's been dredging and it's been around forever, doing it for this purpose in this way was really the first time that anybody's ever in the nation. (Kyle) As we look at this and funding specifically the dredging, how is that happening? (Earl) The State of Kansas issued a bond a little over a year ago, a 15-year bond about $20 million. That's going to be paid really 75% from statewide sources from the State Water Plan Fund that we talked about, and then 25% from the Water Marketing Fund. You might imagine there was a pretty good policy debate on who should pay and how much who should pay. But again, since it was somewhat of a pilot program that may or may not go beyond this in the state of Kansas we thought probably a three-quarters, one-quarter was an appropriate split. (Kyle) We're visiting with Earl Lewis. He's the Assistant Director of the Water Office in the State of Kansas. We'll be looking more at dredging on John Redmond Reservoir after this. Back to you Jamie. (Jamie) Thanks Kyle! Stay with us after the break for this week’s Kansas Soybean Update.
Nuclear Problems in the USA! By Arnie Gundersen Part 2/2

U.S. says Russian hackers targeted American energy grid

03:29
The Trump administration on Thursday accused Russian government hackers of carrying out a deliberate, ongoing operation to penetrate vital U.S. industries, including the energy grid — a major ratcheting up of tensions between the two countries over cybersecurity. It says the hackers penetrated targeted companies to a surprising degree, including copying information that could be used to gain access to the computer systems that control power plants. It's the kind of access that experts say would have given Moscow the ability to turn off the power if it wanted to. The alert came eight months after leaked documents revealed that federal authorities had found evidence of foreign hackers breaching computer networks in U.S. power companies, including the operator of the Wolf Creek nuclear plant in Kansas. "Since at least March 2016, Russian government cyber actors ... targeted government entities and multiple U.S. critical infrastructure sectors, including the energy, nuclear, commercial facilities, water, aviation, and critical manufacturing sectors," according to Thursday's joint alert, issued by the Homeland Security Department and the FBI. While the reveal isn’t a surprise to cyber watchers — researchers have been noting such digital espionage for years — it’s rare for the U.S. government to be so blunt about a foreign adversary’s cyber spying. Because the U.S. conducts its own similar online espionage campaigns around the world, intelligence officials have traditionally been loath to openly point fingers at other governments for doing the same thing. After the alert, Energy Secretary Rick Perry warned members of a House Appropriations subcommittee Thursday that he's "not confident" the federal government has an adequate strategy in place to address the "hundreds of thousands" of cybersecurity attacks directed at the U.S. every day. Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington state, the top Democrat on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said Thursday's alert followed a long series of unanswered warnings about the danger that hackers could trigger economically devastating blackouts. "A year ago yesterday, I called for a Russian cyber threat assessment to our grid," Cantwell said in a statement. "I’ve repeatedly asked President [Donald] Trump to tackle this urgent task and have been met with deafening silence. I hope today’s belated response is the first step in a robust and aggressive strategy to protect our critical infrastructure." The alert comes on the same day the Trump administration issued new sanctions against Russia for a range of activities, including its actions in cyberspace. Taken together, the steps amount to perhaps the most direct confrontation of Russian hackers by the U.S. government yet. Russia has been widely accused of launching increasingly dangerous attacks on power grids around the world. Moscow’s most frequent target has been Ukraine, according to researchers. In recent years, Ukraine has twice blamed its neighbor for shutting down portions of its power grid using digital weapons that hackers had not previously successfully deployed on that scale. The alert says Russian hackers attempted to access the American grid and other industries primarily to spy and collect information. Their weapons included malware-laden Word documents — such as engineers' resumes — that appeared in legitimate-seeming emails, but which harvested login and password information from victims' computers. The hackers used these exploits to target vendors and other companies on the periphery of their main targets, then leapfrog their way to gain access to higher-level networks and install malware. Once inside, the hackers would move around and conduct reconnaissance, and appeared interested in industrial control systems that manage processes for critical infrastructure, the alert reads. "The threat actors appear to have deliberately chosen the organizations they targeted, rather than pursuing them as targets of opportunity," the alert says. It says the hackers also used other means to find their way in. In one case, they "downloaded a small photo from a publicly accessible human resources page. The image, when expanded, was a high-resolution photo that displayed control systems equipment models and status information in the background." They also implanted malware in the websites of trade publications and other websites related to the targeted industries, the alert says. According to Jon Wellinghoff, a former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission who now runs his own energy policy consultancy, the hackers seemed to be gathering intelligence “that could provide them with information in the future to do something if they wanted to.” Essentially, they were setting the stage to potentially turn off the power, cyber experts said. The details closely dovetail with research published in October by cyber firm Symantec. The government alert even confirmed that the Symantec report — which didn

In this special edition question & answer podcast, Gundersen and Hurley discuss what effects Hurricane Sandy had on U.S. nuclear power plants, especially Oyster Creek. Gundersen explains how spent fuel pools are not configured to be cooled with diesel power in the event of a loss of offsite power. Oyster Creek and several other nuclear power plants did lose offsite power and Thomson Reuters reports that they may use fire pumps to cool the pools.

This is the first time a prefecture has accepted a radioactive fallout disposal plan amid residents' environmental and health concerns. Masao Uchibori made the announcement on Thursday after meeting mayors of 8 municipalities in the prefecture earlier in the day. Uchibori said he took the difficult step despite the fact he had to ask the municipalities to bear a heavy burden. He said he told the mayors of Tomioka, Naraha and 6 other municipalities of his intention to approve the plan and received their consent. The facility will handle radioactive sludge, straw and incinerated ash, which contain radioactive materials of more than 8,000 becquerels per kilogram. The Environment Ministry plans to nationalize a private-sector facility in Tomioka Town to dispose of the contaminated waste. Trucks carrying radioactive waste will pass through neighboring Naraha Town. Takahama mayor approves nuclear plant restart Nuclear & Energy Dec. 2, 2015 - Updated 22:52 UTC-5 The mayor of a town on the Japan Sea coast that hosts a nuclear power plant has officially approved the restarts of 2 reactors. Takahama Mayor Yutaka Nose told the town's assembly on Thursday that he made his decision from a broad-based perspective. He said Industry Minister Motoo Hayashi assured him at a meeting last month that the central government stands behind its nuclear power policy. He said he also confirmed that a new consultative body will help local governments work out evacuation plans beyond administrative borders in preparation for a serious nuclear accident. Minister: Govt. continues nuclear fuel recycling Nuclear & Energy Nov. 28, 2015 - Updated 08:17 UTC-5 Japan's industry minister Motoo Hayashi says the government will continue to pursue its policy of recycling nuclear fuel. He spoke to reporters after visiting a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Rokkasho Village in Aomori Prefecture, northeastern Japan, on Saturday. It was his first visit to the plant since taking office in October. The facility is a pillar of the government's fuel recycling program. It has suffered a series of problems during test runs. It remains unclear when the plant will start operating. Observers fear that fuel storage pools at nuclear plants nationwide may become full if more reactors are restarted while the Rokkasho plant remains offline. Nuclear Watch: Fukushima Earthquake and Tsunami Station Blackout Accident, by Dr. Magdi Ragheb 2013

08:16
Excerpts from Fukushima Earthquake and Tsunami Station Blackout Accident (pdf), by Dr. Magdi Ragheb, professor in the Dept. of Nuclear Engineering at University of Illinois since 1979, who’s worked with Oak Ridge and Brookhaven National Laboratories, 2013: Unit 3 was the only unit of the six reactors at the site that uses the Mixed Oxide, UO2-PuO2 MOX fuel… A reported long vertical crack running down the side of the containment vessel implies the possible occurrence of a steam explosion. The ejection of fuel parts from unit 3 would imply a more serious event than a hydrogen explosion in the form of a criticality excursion and a steam explosion associated with a core meltdown. Fragments or particles of nuclear fuel from the spent fuel pools above the reactors were blown “up to one mile from the units” and pieces of highly radioactive material reportedly fell between two units and had to be “bulldozed over,” to protect workers Highly localized heat signature in unit 3 may suggest a possible ejection of the concrete shield plug by the observed hydrogen or possibly steam explosion. Atmospheric pressure measurements at units 2 and 3, but not unit 1, suggest containment breach by April 10. 2011. Any leaking corium material… could interact with the sump water as well as the concrete mat causing a steam explosion, then becoming embedded in the concrete. Steam emission [at unit 3] on March 21. 2011 evolved into black smoke. A possible hydrogen or steam explosion tore out the upper part of the containment building structure… Steam and dark smoke emanating from possible burning of the UO2 fuel, concrete rubble, or boron carbide B4C… Highly energetic vertically propagating hydrogen or possibly steam explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi unit 3 BWR on March 14, 2011 was followed by a fire and reactor fuel damage. Heavy debris possibly composed of the concrete shield plug or crane components was vertically ejected and is seen falling back down… It bears some analogy to the complex aerodynamics of an “exploding vortex ring.” [The photo shows the] horizontally propagating hydrogen explosion… preceded the vertical suspected steam explosion at unit 3. Engineers and scientists worldwide will be spending the next 7 lean years in the history of nuclear power redefining the safe use of nuclear energy and addressing and solving the issues uncovered [including the] suspected steam explosion at Fukushima unit 3 http://npre.illinois.edu/directory/faculty/mragheb http://mragheb.com/NPRE%20457%20CSE%20462%20Safety%20Analysis%20of%20Nuclear%20Reactor%20Systems/Fukushima%20Earthquake%20and%20Tsunami%20Station%20Blackout%20Accident.pdf

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/ October 2013 TEST FISHING STARTS OFF SOUTHERN FUKUSHIMA Fishermen have brought in their first catches off the southern coast of Fukushima Prefecture since a nuclear accident at a power plant occurred 2 years and 7 months ago. 13 trawlers from 2 fisheries cooperatives in Iwaki City set out on Friday morning. They returned before noon with 1.3 tons of catch including octopus, hairy crab and a local specialty fish. Fishery officials took samples and tested them for radioactivity. They say no radioactive materials were detected. The products will be shipped around the prefecture on Saturday. The nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant forced local fishermen to stop their work due to concerns of marine products being contaminated with radiation. Test fishing began off the northern coast of the prefecture in June last year. But fishery workers in southern parts of the prefecture had to wait until the prefectural fisheries association concluded that seawater and marine products were safe. Oct. 18, 2013 - Updated 08:49 UTC TEST FISHING OFF FUKUSHIMA TO EXPAND Fishers in Fukushima Prefecture plan to expand their targets for test fishing from 18 types to 27. The heads of the prefecture's fishing cooperatives met in Iwaki City on Wednesday. They started test fishing in June last year, 15 months after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident. The activity was later interrupted due to radioactive water leakage at the crippled facility. At the meeting, the heads approved the inclusion next month of 9 types of fish including flathead flounder, which was the leading catch in the area before March 2011. The additional types have had radiation levels far below the government standard for more than 18 months. The expected increase in catch would be a boon for the region's fishing industry. The fish are checked for radioactive materials before going on sale at local markets. Soma City cooperative head Hiroyuki Sato said the flathead flounder season is starting and the fish bring good prices, motivating fishermen. He said he hopes the ban on other types will be lifted soon. Oct. 30, 2013 - Updated 09:12 UTC SPINY LOBSTER FISHING BEGINS IN MIE PREF. This year's fishing season for spiny lobsters -- a local specialty -- has begun off the Pacific coast of Mie Prefecture in central Japan. 24 boats landed hauls of the lobster variety at Wagu Port on Wednesday morning after taking them at a fishing ground about 5 kilometers off the coast. The season started on Tuesday. Catches totaling around 900 kilograms -- more than last year -- were traded at about 50 dollars per kilo. The prices were close to typical levels. A local fisheries cooperative chief said spiny lobsters from the region are known for their sweet taste and firm texture. The fishing season runs through late April. Oct. 2, 2013 - Updated 05:52 UTC JELLYFISH FORCE NUCLEAR REACTOR TO SHUT DOWN One of the reactors in a nuclear power plant in Sweden was forced to shut down for 3 days starting on Sunday, after a large amount of jellyfish clogged up the pipes carrying cooling water to the turbines. The Oskarshamn power plant in southeastern Sweden is situated on the shores of the Baltic Sea, where there has been a huge increase in jellyfish in recent years due to an increase in plankton. The operator says that they manually halted the operation of one of 3 reactors for 3 days to remove jellyfish from the pipes. The reactor is the largest in Sweden. It can generate 1,400 megawatts of power. There is no report of a leak of radioactive substances. Similar incidents have also happened in Britain and Japan in recent years. Ohi nuclear plant in Fukui Prefecture was forced to reduce its power output last year due to a swarm of jellyfish. Oct. 3, 2013 - Updated 03:06 UTC

As the boy became a man In came a calm sophistication I can hardly understand So lost in ego, didn’t notice when the time had slipped away (Yeah, Everyone’s got a sob story) Jesus Christ, was born to die Leave it to man to levitate his own to idolize We’re simply sociopaths with no communication baby I see your angle but we differ from our points of view (So, what’s your cross to bear) Who is the crowd that peers through the cage, As we perform here upon the stage? Tell me a lie in a beautiful way I believe in answers Just not today Hope my wheels don’t abandon me now, seein’ that I’m out here alone I’m runnin’ out of fight And the wind speaks a comforting voice, guiding me to her arms Mother, I’m alright It took the birth of sin to snake-rattle the mind Before a blow to the head by the gavel of time to wake up Won’t you wake up? When did the walking apes decide that nuclear war Was now the only solution for them keeping the score? Just wake up Can’t you wake up? (You do know this is just a simulation, don’t you?) Who is the crowd that peers through the cage, As we perform here upon the stage?
