Vitamin D not flu shots
Another influenza season is beginning, and the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will strongly urge Americans to get a flu shot. In fact, the CDC mounts a well-orchestrated campaign each season to generate interest and demand for flu shots. But a recent study published in the October issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine found that vaccinating young children against the flu appeared to have no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons. At first glance, the data did suggest that children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years derived some protection from vaccination in these years. But after adjusting for potentially relevant variables, the researchers concluded that "significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting" examined. Additionally, a Group Health study found that flu shots do not protect elderly people against developing pneumonia -- the primary cause of death resulting as a complication of the flu. Others have questioned whether there is any mortality benefit with influenza vaccination. Vaccination coverage among the elderly increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now, but there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza or pneumonia. There is some evidence that flu shots cause Alzheimers disease, most likely as a result of combining mercury with aluminum and formaldehyde. Mercury in vaccines has also been implicated as a cause of autism. Three other serious adverse reactions to the flu vaccine are joint inflammation and arthritis, anaphylactic shock (and other life-threatening allergic reactions), and Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralytic autoimmune disease. One credible hypothesis that explains the seasonal nature of flu is that influenza is a vitamin D deficiency disease. Vitamin D levels in your blood fall to their lowest point during flu seasons. Unable to be protected by the bodys own antibiotics (antimicrobial peptides) that are released by vitamin D, a person with a low vitamin D blood level is more vulnerable to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections. Studies show that children with rickets, a vitamin D-deficient skeletal disorder, suffer from frequent respiratory infections, and children exposed to sunlight are less likely to get a cold. The increased number of deaths that occur in winter, largely from pneumonia and cardiovascular diseases, are most likely due to vitamin D deficiency. Unfortunately, now, for the first time, flu vaccination is also being pushed for virtually all children -- not just those under 5. This is a huge change. Previously, flu vaccine was recommended only for youngsters under 5, who can become dangerously ill from influenza. This year, the government is recommending that children from age 6 months to 18 years be vaccinated, expanding inoculations to 30 million more school-age children. The government argues that while older children seldom get as sick as the younger ones, it's a bigger population that catches flu at higher rates, so the change should cut missed school, and parents' missed work when they catch the illness from their children. Of course, this policy ignores the fact that a systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. Vitamin D is a Cold and Flu Fighter
Bill Gottlieb, America’s #1 natural health coach and author of Bottom Line’s Speed Healing, suggests that vitamin D is a potent cold-and-flu fighter. Taking up to 5,000 IU (International Units) a day can make you far less likely to get a viral illness. In the winter, when people are less likely to get out in the vitamin D–producing sunlight, incidence of colds and flus spike, which further emphasizes the need for vitamin D supplements in the winter. At the first hint of a cold, take even more vitamin D (as determined by your body weight) for three days to prevent the virus from taking hold. Vitamin D-3 is the natural, preferred form of the vitamin.

Vitamin D
Disclaimer: The topics discussed in this video are for informational purposes only. Please consult your licensed medical professional before starting any medical or nutritional regimen. If you have a medical emergency, please seek immediate help from your doctor or hospital. With the 'flu season' among us, it's very important to discuss one of my favorite health topics: Vitamin D. Three components are covered in this video: (1) Why is vitamin D important? (2) How much do you need? (3) Resources (1) Why is vitamin D important? Vitamin D is vital to the immune system and its production in the human body is initiated when UVB sunlight makes contact with the skin. The so called 'flu season' is actually 'less sunlight season'. Vitamin is a critical component for the body to produce antimicrobial peptides which are a major immediate defense mechanism of the innate immune system. So in essence, no lower sunlight exposure mean, lower vitamin D, and finally lower antimicrobial peptide product. This results in a weaker immune system during the critical winter months. (2) How much do you need? There is no simple answer to this question. Each person will have their unique need. The first important step to do is to have a blood test performed to assess your current vitamin D levels. The next step is discuss with your doctor what your results mean and how much you may or may not need to take through supplements or diet. The traditional scale ranges between 30 - 100ng/mL (nanograms per millileter). More naturopathic ranges are between 40 and 60 ng/mL or 50 - 80 nb/mL. A vast majority of people are deficient (have less than 30 ng/mL). Vitamin D is typically packaged in dosages referred to as International Units (IU). On average for every 1000 IU's the vitamin D blood levels may be raised about 10ng/mL. There are many factors that effect overall vitamin D levels that will need to be disgust with your doctor. When a Cold, Influenza and Flu Strikes Dr Mercola Vitamin D
IMPORTANT: Why Getting Your Vitamin D from Sun Exposure Is So Important Vitamin D May Help You Recover Quicker… and Prevent a Cold or Flu in the First Place Conventional Cold and Flu Strategies May Actually Slow Down Healing https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/11/13/could-a-cup-or-more-of-this-a-day-keep-the-flu-away.aspx Vitamin D Deficiency: An Underlying Cause of Both Colds and Influenzas It's estimated that the average U.S. adult typically has two to four colds each year, while children may have up to a dozen. Each year, between five and 20 percent of the US population also come down with flu-like illness, according to Medline.1... One reason for the widespread prevalence of colds and the flu may be that vitamin D deficiency is incredibly common in the United States, especially during the winter months when cold and flu viruses are at their peak. Research has confirmed that "catching" colds and flu may actually be a symptom of an underlying vitamin D deficiency. Less than optimal vitamin D levels will significantly impair your immune response and make you far more susceptible to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections. In the largest and most nationally representative study2 of its kind to date, involving about 19,000 Americans, people with the lowest vitamin D levels reported having significantly more recent colds or cases of the flu -- and the risk was even greater for those with chronic respiratory disorders like asthma. At least five additional studies also show an inverse association between lower respiratory tract infections and vitamin D levels. But the research is quite clear, the higher your vitamin D level, the lower your risk of contracting colds, flu, and other respiratory tract infections. I strongly believe you could avoid colds and influenza entirely by maintaining your vitamin D level in the optimal range.

How to Fix Your Vitamin D Deficiency
The most frequent complaint I hear around this time of year is, “I don’t feel good… I’m tired all the time… I can’t shake this cold… I’m emotional.” My Natural response is to prescribe a little bit of sunshine – Vitamin D. There’s a reason flu season begins in November. It is not the month with the highest germ count, but it’s the month that everyone’s immune systems are severely lacking Vitamin D. Your body treats Vitamin D more like a hormone than a vitamin. That’s because it helps your body with every single cellular function because there are Vitamin D receptors in every single cell of your body. Vitamin D accounts for over 2000 functions in your body, so if you have a deficiency it's a very big deal.

Immune Booster IV Therapy for Cold & Flu Season : Barrie Ontario
Its cold and flu season and Bodystream in Barrie is excited to announce their Immune Booster IV Therapy program. The Immune Booster IV Therapy cocktail contains massive amounts of vitamin A, vitamin D, zinc, magnesium and many other nutrients to help your body defend itself from colds and influenza. The immune booster IV cocktail is like Cold FX on steroids. Oral cold and flu supplements are not as efective as IV Therapy because the oral medication must pass through the liver first and then be absorbed in to the body. IV Therapy goes directly in to the body. If you already have a cold or the flu then your body is already comprimised and that makes it even more difficult for the body to absorb those oral medications. Bodystream in Barrie and Newmarket recommends one IV Therapy Immune Booster treatment per month during the flu and cold season to stay healthy. If you already have a cold or the flu then the IV Therapy treatment is much more aggressive and from one to three times daily for up to 3 days to eliminate the symptoms. Boost your body's immune system to stay healthy and active this cold and flu season by visiting Bodystream in Barrie for an Immune Booster IV Therapy treatment today. You can call Bosdystream at 705-726-2004 or visit our website at www.bodystream.ca .

Toxin build up can put you at a higher risk of getting sick. Using a tissue/hanky and putting it back into your pocket is a great way to spread germs to everything in your pocket such as money, which you will probably give to someone else to pay for something...that cash will be handled by many people. If you do get sick, the best thing is to stay home if you can. Taking a day or two off to let your body rest can help you fight the bug faster...an added bonus is it protects the rest of us from catching your bug. Video Summary: I am noticing people coughing and sneezing and hearing reports about stomach bugs and other viruses. The cold and flu season may already be upon us. Here are some of the ways I stay healthy and avoid getting sick during cold and flu season. The Importance of Vitamin D3 Starting this time of the year I take 5,000-10,000 IU of Vitamin D3. If you aren't comfortable taking this amount, you can ask your doctor to test your vitamin D levels and discuss an appropriate dose. We naturally get vitamin D from the sun. There are so many benefits from being outdoors! Being out in the sun also causes the brain to release the feel good chemical serotonin. This can help combat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or a lesser case of the winter blues, which can result due to less daylight this time of the year. Cover Your Neck If you do go outside, cover your neck. Even if it is a nicer day and you don't want to be bundled in a heavy coat, at least wear a scarf or clothing (like a turtleneck) to make sure your neck is covered. Wind and cold (and I forgot to mention also dampness) enter the body through the area where your head and neck meet and can cause you to get sick. If You Do Get Sick Cough/sneeze into your elbow instead of your hands/Kleenex, it is more sanitary. If you do cough/sneeze into your hands/Kleenex, wash your hands immediately. Please don't spread your bug to the rest of us by touching things with your contaminated hands. Hope these tips help you stay happy and healthy! For more tips, subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Naturally avoiding the flu is easy to do. I have done it year after year with no flu shot and you can too. Let’s face it though; getting the flu is not a death sentence. Sure it’s uncomfortable, but we shouldn’t be hiding behind closed doors or afraid to come in contact with other people simple because we have the flu. Keeping your immune system strong and healthy is the best way to combat the flu. You see, most people get the flu around the holiday season. This is typically the time of extreme weather. In some parts of the world, it is extremely rainy, cold, hot…but equally, everyone gets the flu. If you blame getting the flu on the cold temperature, then you might be scratching your head at this point, wondering why people in 80º Hawaii also are getting the flu. A major thing that all the world happens to do around this time of the year is celebrate. We celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Each one of these holidays requires us to attend at least one party each. And as a result, we get a lack of sleep and wear down our bodies. And, let’s face it: with all the shopping trips and late night parties, extra financial stress and expectations, our bodies are on overdrive. Reversing these poor lifestyle choices and making a conscious effort to make better, health-enhancing decisions like the ones listed below can improve your immune system function and help you naturally avoid the flu. T-Cells are the cells that actively participate in the immune response. There are many studies that show that T-cells go down (immune system decreases) and inflammatory cytokines go up when we are sleep deprived. Studies also show that we have an increased risk of bacterial infections when we don’t get enough sleep. This is why we are at a greater risk of getting the flu with a lack of sleep. Make sure you are getting the optimal 7-8 hours of sleep at night, and don’t be afraid to catch a nap on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. There is an abundance of data to support the lack of sun exposure during the winter decreases our vitamin D levels, making us more susceptible to the flu. Vitamin D is essential in immune system function. It is a core raw material that the immune system uses to operate correctly. There are receptors on the immune cell that require the attachment of vitamin D to produce Anti-Microbial Proteins (AMP). These AMP’s are anti-virals and kill the flu virus. Vitamin D up-regulates genetic expression of effectors that attack viruses, bacteria, and antigens. Do yourself a favor and load pack more fruits and vegetables on your plate. Antioxidants are a key player in boosting the immune system. Antioxidants protect against free radical damage and reduce inflammation in the body. You can find high doses of these free radical fighters in fresh organic vegetables and fruit, cage-free eggs, and grass-fed meats. Specifically, look for green leafy vegetables that are rich in color. To naturally avoid the flu, you have to remove the elephant in the room: sugar. Sugar is directly responsible for decreasing immune function and impairing your nervous system. Be cautious of sweetened drinks, refined carbohydrates that turn to sugar in the body, and of course the obvious, desserts and candy. During the holidays, we all get a little more busy and stressed, and fail to make it to the gym. A study presented at the Integrative Biology of Exercise showed us that exercise changed the T-cells into a more disease-fighting state and improved circulation of T-cells throughout the blood. As reported in Medical News Today, exercise increases the release of growth hormone, allowing our bodies to heal faster, which ultimately boosts our immune system. At the end of the day, if we get the flu, experience a fever, ad stay up all night vomiting, this just our body expressing health. I say that because, if our bodies were sick and we didn’t vomit out the bad stuff, burn off the bacteria, or react in any way, we would die. Modern healthcare leads us to believe the flu is a scary, dangerous thing, but it’s been around for years and is not going anywhere. For those few elect that choose to follow the above guidelines, you can kiss your flu days goodbye and enjoy the holiday season in good health. Add these essential vitamins to beat winter cold and flu
New Delhi, Dec 02 (ANI): As the winter season draws in, it officially marks the start of trying to boost your immune system. Cold and flu are spread by coughs and sneezes, and is especially common in the winter months. But, adding these supplements to daily routine could support the immune system when one needs it the most, reports Express.co.uk. The body does its best to deal with these invaders with a complex process that relies on a number of factors. In addition to known immune boosters, such as getting enough physical activity and eating a healthy diet, there are only a few supplements on the shelves that may help boost immunity. According to a dietician, Vitamins A, B12, C, D, zinc and selenium could help to prevent cold and flu this winter. Vitamin D supplements during autumn and winter, as sunlight hours - the biggest natural source of the vitamin - gets reduced during the seasons. Vitamin A helps in strengthening cells on the outer layer of skin - the body's first defence against harmful bacteria and viruses, but it also helps cells in the linings of the body's hollow structures, including the nose, throat, stomach and gut. A vitamin D deficiency, meanwhile, increased the risk of auto-immune diseases. Zinc and selenium helped the body fight infection, and maintained the body's defence system, she added. As with most things that help reduce the risk of infection, chronic disease and early death, it's not one thing that provides the "miracle cure," it's a variety of good lifestyle choices that make the difference. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ☛ Subscribe to our Youtube Channel - https://goo.gl/k1Aee1 ☛ Visit our Official website: https://www.aninews.in/ Enjoy and stay connected with us!! ☛ Like us: https://www.facebook.com/ANINEWS.IN ☛Follow us : https://twitter.com/ANI ☛ Circle us : https://goo.gl/QN5kXy ☛ Contact us : shrawankp@aniin.com

Raw Day 52**Vitamin D3 vs Flu Vaccine** VLOG #42 orJANics 50nRaw
Vitamin D3 is one of the supplements that I take that cannot be consumed in the food that you eat. Your skin manufactures vitamin D3 when you are in the sun. How much it manufactures depends on how long you are in the sun, what time of the day you are in the sun, how much skin is exposed to the sun, how dark your skin pigment is and how much fat you body has. Most of us do not spend enough time in the sun for our bodies to make sufficient amounts of Vitamin D

Nutrition Tips - How to Boost Your Immunity Before Flu Season
Nutrition Tips - How to Boost Your Immunity Before Flu Season - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Cold and flu season is almost here, are you ready, here it comes. We all want to stay healthy, of course, that makes more sense of the world, does not it. It is difficult to do, it is difficult to do in a busy busy world, it difficult to do in a world that has doorknobs. It is difficult to do in a world that has children, those little walking petri dishes that go to preschool and come back. Yeah, I know all about that one. So the best thing you can do to keep yourself health through the cold and flu season is to really make sure your immune system is on high alert. In order to do that there are a couple things, key things that we need to be careful of. Unfortunately what happens at the same time cold and flu season hit? Holidays, what happens at holidays? Sugar right, the key thing that we can do is really reduce sugar and increase those vegetables and fruit. So if you really want something sweet, go for a piece of fruit, start there. Hard to convince the kids to do that I know, particularly with Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas and Chanukah and all of these things happening all at the same time. They all have to do with cookies, right, cookies and candy and trick or treating. So, minimize that, if you can find ways to trade out candy with the kids. So I heard this really great option of the Halloween candy fairy who comes during the night of Halloween after everybody is done trick or treating and if the kids leave out a certain amount of candy the Halloween fairy collects that and replaces it with a toy. So you can actually start saving teeth and your sanity so you do not have that sugar woo and crash for the next week after Halloween. Anyway so, immune boosting, what you really want to do, reduce amount of sugar intake, reduce amount of caffeine intake, reduce amount of alcohol intake. I am not saying eliminate it, I am saying reduce it. Package those things with meals so their not held completely separate. It is not something you do by itself in the middle of the day or right before bed. You want to make sure that it is part of a meal so if your going to have that glass of wine, have it with dinner. If your going to have that piece of trick or treat candy, have it right after dinner or have it in the lunch box. So that it is part of that meal or snack, it is not stand alone. Other things you can do are really again, increase your fruit and vegetables which is where a lot of your antioxidants come from. So you want vitamin C, you want vitamin A, you want vitamin D. Vitamin D is really, really important. Make sure you get those blood work, that on your blood work the next time you go to your doctor's office. Really important to know what that level is. Ways, you do not need to spend a lot of money on supplements, not really important, it is important to have a really good foundation though. So if you can take a very high quality, food based multivitamin and mineral that is going to cover 90% of your bases to make sure that all of those little holes are plugged in that you might be missing in a diet, even a diet that is really, really well put together. So think about those little things, make sure you get enough sleep, make sure you get enough water, we talked about water intake in other videos. Make sure that you get some time to relax. If that time to relax has a glass of wine attached to it, make sure it is got a snack attached to it too. Breath, have fun, do not get paranoid, wash your hands, and enjoy your holidays.
