DESCRIPTION: Randomized controlled trial comparing the safety and efficacy of drugs versus curcumin, the yellow pigment in the spice turmeric, for the treatment of autoimmune inflammatory rheumatoid arthritis. Did you guess that's what was on the cover of my latest DVD (http://nutritionfacts.org/2013/12/05/all-of-dr-gregers-dvds-now-downloadable)? Hard to appreciate the gorgeous color of fresh turmeric root unless you see it for yourself. You should be able to find it at any large Asian store. I incorporate it into my Natural Nausea Remedy Recipe (http://nutritionfacts.org/2013/05/28/dr-gregers-natural-nausea-remedy-recipe/). The inner color is almost fluorescent! I'm afraid followers of NutritionFacts.org are going to get sick of turmeric, but there's a load of important new research I felt I needed to cover. Next I'll cover Turmeric Curcumin and Osteoarthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-osteoarthritis), then move to Boosting the Bioavailability of Curcumin (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/boosting-the-bioavailability-of-curcumin), and end (for now!) with a video on Who Shouldn't Consume Curcumin or Turmeric (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/who-shouldnt-consume-curcumin-or-turmeric). I've talked about treating autoimmune joint inflammation with diets full of plants in Diet & Rheumatoid Arthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/diet-rheumatoid-arthritis/) and Potassium and Autoimmune Disease (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/potassium-and-autoimmune-disease/). If phenylbutazone sounds vaguely familiar, maybe you read my Q&A Is horse meat safe to eat? (http://nutritionfacts.org/questions/is-horse-meat-safe-to-eat/). Arthritis is an inflammation or pain that can commonly occur in the fingers, elbow, knees, hip, jaw or any other area between the joints. Arthritis can lead to swelling, pain, redness, joint destruction and disability. There is no treatment for it, especially if it is rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune disease that causes the defense system of the body to attack itself. In this video, we'll let you know how turmeric can be used to treat arthritis. Turmeric has been in use for many centuries now as a cure for several diseases. Turmeric, its rhizome stem, is used as a traditional medicine to cure various ailments like arthritis and inflammation. Here, we have discussed how you can use turmeric along with other ingredients to cure the condition of arthritis. Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, free radical removal and antioxidant properties that help in treating arthritis. Turmeric also contains curcumin that is effective in treating arthritis and its associated pain. It also helps in treating the swelling and tenderness of the joints. Drink this milk in the evening before going to sleep to get a sound sleep. Also, make sure to consume turmeric regularly to reduce the joint pain and inflammation caused by arthritis. This is also confirmed in the study 'Turmeric Extracts Containing Curcuminoids Prevent Experimental Rheumatoid Arthritis'. 2. Turmeric And Water : Add one spoon of turmeric into water. Mix it thoroughly and boil it for 15 minutes. This will help create 12% of curcumin mixture. You need to drink this solution within four hours. Mix one spoon each of turmeric powder, fenugreek powder and dried ginger powder. Mix all these thoroughly along with warm water. Consume this solution twice in a day to get relief. 10. Turmeric And Dimethyl Sulphate Solution : Add two spoons of turmeric powder to 1-2 spoons of dimethyl sulphate. Mix them well to make a paste and rub it over the painful joints. Wrap it with a plastic wrap and cover it with a heating pad for about 25 to 30 minutes. 11. Turmeric And Lemon Juice : Take two spoons of turmeric powder with one spoon of lemon juice. Mix them well and add it to boiling water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the affected area and leave it for a few minutes. Wash it with water and repeat this until it heals. http://fitlife.tv/gut-bacteria-can-cause-predict-and-prevent-rheumatoid-arthritis-saturday-strategy/ Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition where the immune system attacks itself? More than 40 million Americans are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis; a painful and often chronic condition that causes swelling in the joints. I’m betting you or someone you love is struggling with this condition and you are looking for answers. No one wants to be in constant pain or have their quality of life diminished by this disease! Doctors and researchers have been juggling different possible causes of rheumatoid arthritis for decades and their understanding has been limited. A new study may have finally shed light on the trigger of this disease, which is pretty exciting stuff! Your gut is home to over 100 trillion bacteria that help you break down and digest your food. Recent research has found that they might do even more than that! According to Veena Taneja, Ph.D, your gut bacteria may actually be able to predict your susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis. Could poor gut health really be the trigger of such a prevalent disease? Most people don’t realize the incredible role that their gut plays in their overall health and wellbeing. Many of the great healers of the past (and present) always begin by focusing on the health of their patient’s gut. Turmeric and arthritis | Why Turmeric is useful in managing Arthritis

Turmeric and Arthritis | Why Turmeric is useful in managing Arthritis Visit http://goo.gl/j1NJgw to know more about Arthritis pain management "Turmeric, Curcumin, And Rheumatoid Arthritis" According to the World Health Organization, 80% of the Earth's inhabitants rely upon traditional medicines for their primary health-care needs, in part due to the high cost of Western pharmaceuticals.Medicines derived from plants have played a pivotal role in the health care of both ancient and modern cultures. One of the prime sources of plant-derived medicines is spices. Turmeric is one such spice known around the world by different names. Turmeric is the dried powdered root stalks of the turmeric plant, a member of the ginger family, from which the orange-yellow pigment curcumin can be extracted. The spice turmeric is what makes curry powder yellow, and curcumin is what makes turmeric yellow. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic is a systemic inflammatory disorder that causes progressive destruction of the cartilage and bone of joints. The long-term prognosis of RA is poor with as much as 80% of patients affected becoming disabled with a reduction of years in life expectancy. There's lots of drugs one can take, but unfortunately they're often associated with severe side effects including blood loss, and bone loss, and bone marrow suppression, and toxicity to the liver and eyes. There's got to be a better way. Well, efficacy of curcumin was first demonstrated over 30 years ago. Forty-five patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis were randomized into three groups: curcumin, the standard of care drug, or both. The primary endpoint was a reduction in disease activity, as well as a reduction in joint tenderness and swelling. All three groups got better, but interestingly the curcumin groups showed the highest percentage of improvement, significantly better than those in the drug group. The findings are significant, demonstrating that curcumin alone was not only safe and effective, but surprisingly more effective in alleviating any pain compared to the leading drug of choice, all without any apparent adverse side effects. In fact curcumin appeared protective, given that there were more adverse reactions in the drug group than the combined drug and curcumin group. In contrast to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, curcumin has no gastrointestinal side effects and may even protect the lining of the stomach. ======================================================= Related videos Why Arthritis Causes Pain https://youtu.be/ooDzTErR3iI How to Choose A Pair of Compression Gloves https://youtu.be/cydMzegFTOg 7 foods to avoid in arthritis https://youtu.be/j1kP6I-YWqA Arthritis Pain Relief In 9 Simple Ways | Arthritis Treatment Natural Way https://youtu.be/x7Q9n8JLZRw Arthritis facts | Seven Facts About Arthritis | Rheumatoid Arthritis Facts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HriWKghw81k ======================================================= Read interesting articles on Best Compression Gloves What is Arthritis: http://bestcompressiongloves.com/what-is-arthritis/ Why Compression Gloves Are Really Helpful in Treatment For Arthritis? http://bestcompressiongloves.com/why-compression-gloves-are-really-helpful-in-treatment-for-arthritis/ 5 Simple Things You Can Do to Help in Treatment For Arthritis: http://bestcompressiongloves.com/5-things-you-can-do-to-help-treatment-for-arthritis/ Visit http://bestcompressiongloves.com for more arthritis related news. Turmeric: How Can It Help Prevent and Treat Arthritis? By Fresh Body Mind

03:03
For full blog visit: https://freshbodymind.com/turmeric-can-help-prevent-treat-arthritis/ GET THE MOST POTENT TURMERIC ON EARTH: https://www.trucurc.com/ More than 50 million Americans are told by their doctor that they have arthritis every year. Almost half of us will be diagnosed with some kind of arthritis in our lifetime, whether it’s osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia or even gout. So it’s clear that arthritis is something to be concerned about. Yet so many of us assume the disease is an inevitable part of growing old, or something that runs in the family. However, scientists are discovering that this just isn’t true. Recent studies have shown that arthritis has far more to do with lifestyle than it does genetics, meaning it’s possible to slow down its onset. That’s where turmeric comes in. Boasting natural anti-inflammatory properties, its effectiveness in preventing arthritis is gaining attention from experts around the world. And rightly so. This superfood has been shown to help ease joint pain and help flexibility, making it an important weapon in the fight against arthritis. What Is Arthritis? Arthritis takes a few different forms, but the most common is osteoarthritis (OA), affecting a third of people aged 45 and over. This type sees the wearing away of bone cartilage, which cushions the joint. As it erodes, the cartilage becomes roughened, reducing flexibility and making it painful to move the joint. At the more severe end of the spectrum is rheumatoid arthritis – an autoimmune disease that causes swelling in the joints. Along with pain, sufferers can also develop flu-like feelings, tiredness and depression. Perhaps worst of all, patients usually require lifelong treatment, which could involve physical therapy, powerful drugs and even surgery. Clearly, arthritis isn’t simply a case of achy joints, but a source of great stress, worry and pain for many people. But thankfully there are steps we can take to keep our joints healthy, starting with one humble root: turmeric. How Can Turmeric Help? Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties have been celebrated for thousands of years. Starting with its use as a medicine in South East Asia some 4,000 years ago, this bright orange root is used as a spice and medicine to this day. And thankfully, with a growing interest in natural remedies in the western world, more funding has been pumped into finding exactly what it is that makes turmeric a superfood – and exactly how it can be used to prevent and treat arthritis. There are dozens of clinical studies into the effectiveness of curcumin – the potent phytochemical found in turmeric – in reducing swelling. But one of the most convincing was carried out in 2007 and published in the International Journal of Molecular Medicine. This research showed that if consumed frequently, curcumin can significantly decrease the levels of the COX enzyme and prostaglandin E2 in the body, helping prevent inflammatory cykotines from attacking joint tissues. Many doctors have also reported shock at how well arthritic patients have responded to a daily dose of turmeric. In one study of 367 people, researchers even found that patients treated with 1,500mg of turmeric extract per day reported the same improvement as those treated with ibuprofen. Increase Your Absorption of Turmeric While there’s nothing wrong with adding an extra spoonful of turmeric to your curries, roast veggies or even lattes, there are several steps you can take to give your body the helping hand it needs to absorb curcumin. Make an anti-inflammatory tea Ginger is another awesome anti-inflammatory ingredient, so try mixing it with turmeric to fight swelling and stiffness. Combining the two in an invigorating tea is one of the best ways to enjoy these superfood ingredients. Just brew a one-inch piece of ginger with a teaspoon of turmeric powder for 15 minutes, then strain the tea and sweeten with honey. Take turmeric in between meals If you want turmeric to target joint pain rather than digestion, try to take it in between meals rather than with them. This should enhance the curcumin’s ability to reduce pain and stiffness due to inflammation. Use turmeric topically to help reduce pain and stiffness You don’t just have to eat or drink turmeric to enjoy its full benefits – it also makes an effective topical treatment for arthritic joints too. Just mix together one tablespoon of turmeric powder and enough coconut oil to make a paste, apply to the problem area, cover with a bandage and leave for three hours. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) DESCRIPTION: The yellow pigment curcumin in the spice turmeric may work as good or better than anti-inflammatory drugs and pain killers for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. What about rheumatoid arthritis? That was my last video, Turmeric Curcumin and Rheumatoid (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-rheumatoid-arthritis). Next, I'll cover Boosting the Bioavailability of Curcumin (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/boosting-the-bioavailability-of-curcumin) and then end with some caveats (Who Shouldn't Consume Curcumin or Turmeric, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/who-shouldnt-consume-curcumin-or-turmeric). I think the only other video I have on osteoarthritis is Rose Hips for Osteoarthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/dietary-osteoarthritis-treatment). Those unfamiliar with the China study should read it (http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/54905518)! I also mention it in my video China Study on Sudden Cardiac Death (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/china-study-on-sudden-cardiac-death/). If, as described, oxidative stress and inflammation both play a role in joint inflammation, then that may help explain the role of turmeric. See my recent videos Which Spices Fight Inflammation? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/which-spices-fight-inflammation) and Spicing Up DNA Protection (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/spicing-up-dna-protection). I'd also add nuts (Fighting Inflammation in a Nut Shell, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/fighting-inflammation-in-a-nut-shell/) and mushrooms (Boosting Immunity While Reducing Inflammation, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/boosting-immunity-while-reducing-inflammation/) to the list of anti-inflammatory plant foods. First, one important reason to combine these two ingredients and consume them is that they enhance the health promoting abilities of each other. In fact, black pepper will enhance the bioavailability of turmeric. Curcumin has low levels of bioavailability, and because of this, much of the curcumin we consume is metabolized before it can be absorbed. Piperine has been found to make curcumin more bioavailable which allows us to absorb more of it and get its full healing and health promoting affects. 2. Eating turmeric mixed with black pepper also has tremendous anti-inflammatory affects for our bodies. This mixture is a known anti-inflammatory powerhouse and can be especially helpful for those individuals suffering from symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Curcumin is well known as a natural anti-inflammatory compound and for its anti-inflammatory affects. It reduces inflammation throughout our entire body and targets and fights inflammation at the molecular level. Curcumin can actually inhibit many of the molecules know to play a role in causing inflammation. Black pepper contains many different antioxidants which is great for reducing inflammation. These antioxidants in black pepper can help to both prevent and repair damage cause by free radicals and neutralize damaging compounds in our bodies, reducing inflammation in the process. 3. This mixture may also have benefits for certain types of cancer and may even reduce the risk of developing certain cancers. Studies have shown that curcumin can have positive affects on preventing cancer. Again, this is often attributed to several benefits curcumin provides at the molecular level which are enhanced by black pepper due to its absorption enhancing properties. Turmeric also provides many different nutrients and antioxidants which reduce damaging free radicals. Black pepper may also help in this regard to the polyphenols in contains. Discuss with your medical practitioner other cancer treatment and prevention methods. 4. Eating turmeric and black pepper can also have benefits for our overall heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease. Curcumin may actually help to not only reduce the risk of heart disease, but also reverse many of the steps in the heart disease process. Curcumin is unique in that it can help to improve the function and health of our blood vessels. This allows turmeric to help with the regulation of blood pressure and blood clotting. Turmeric also reduces inflammation as well as oxidation, two factors which may lead to heart disease. As well, since turmeric and black pepper contains curcumin and piperine, this can also help to reduce “bad” LDL cholesterol as well as reduce triglyceride levels in the body. 5. Lastly, combining and consuming turmeric mixed with black pepper can also have benefits for cognitive function and may even reduce the risk of developing certain cognitive diseases, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Turmeric can help to reduce inflammation and oxidation that can lead to these neurodegenerative disease. As well, it can help to reduce the build-up of Amyloid plaques, which may cause these diseases. Black pepper can also improve cognitive function. Studies have shown that the compounds and components in black pepper can help to reduce memory impairment and cognitive malfunction. As well, piperine may be able to help stimulate chemical pathways in the body, which may help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Again, discuss with your medical practitioner other treatment and prevention methods when it comes to this complicated disease and to make sure this mixture is safe for you. Small dosages of these two spices is often recommended when consuming them consistently. One-half to one teaspoon of turmeric is recommended with just a pinch of black pepper when consuming regularly. DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational and informational purposes only. Who Shouldn't Consume Curcumin or Turmeric?

05:26
Just because something is natural and plant-based doesn't mean it's necessarily safe. Those who are pregnant, have gallstones, or are susceptible to kidney stones may want to moderate their turmeric consumption. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) This is the last installment of a 6-part video series on the power of spices in general and turmeric in particular. I started out discussing the role spices play in squelching inflammation and free radicals in Which Spices Fight Inflammation? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/which-spices-fight-inflammation) and Spicing Up DNA Protection (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/spicing-up-dna-protection). Then out of the lab into the clinic with attempts to test the ability of turmeric extracts to treat joint inflammation with Turmeric Curcumin and Rheumatoid Arthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-rheumatoid-arthritis) and Turmeric Curcumin and Osteoarthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-osteoarthritis). My last video, Boosting the Bioavailability of Curcumin (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/boosting-the-bioavailability-of-curcumin), discussed ways to improve the absorption of these anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds. I wish there was more science on wheatgrass. I just had that one unhelpful anecdote in my video How Much Broccoli Is Too Much? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-much-broccoli-is-too-much/) There is good science on flax though. See: • Flax Seeds For Breast Pain (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-seeds-for-breast-pain) • Breast Cancer Survival and Lignan Intake (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/breast-cancer-survival-and-lignan-intake/) • Flax and Fecal Flora (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-and-fecal-flora/) • Prostate vs. Plants (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/prostate-versus-plants/) • A Better Breakfast (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/a-better-breakfast/) • Flaxseeds vs. Chia Seeds (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/flaxseeds-vs-chia-seeds/) More on gallbladder health can be found in my video Cholesterol Gallstones (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/cholesterol-gallstones/). And those who are susceptible to kidney stones should try to alkalinize their urine by eating lots of dark green leafy vegetables (but then shouldn't we all :). See Testing Your Diet with Pee & Purple Cabbage (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/testing-your-diet-with-pee-purple-cabbage/). INGREDIENTS Vitamin B12, Frankincense, Bromelain, Olive Leaf Extract, Turmeric, & Vitamin B6 Vitamin B12 Vitamin B12 is an incredible anti-inflammatory and energy-giving compound. Low B12 - the most common deficiency in the world - is associated with the proinflammatory cytokine response. Correcting B12 deficiency with a bioavailable B12 supplement source can “turn off” this inflammation response FAST. Frankincense Frankincense can inhibit the production of key inflammatory molecules associated with conditions like arthritis, asthma, painful disorders like IBS and many more conditions. It also has many benefits including improving immune function, better sleep, balancing hormone levels, easing digestion, and healing skin. Bromelain Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory characteristics, bromelain is fantastic for reducing acute or chronic joint pain. The journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine published a research trial that evaluated 42 osteoarthritis patients with degenerative spine or painful joint conditions. Olive Leaf Extract Arthritis is a joint issue that causes swelling and pain in the joints; the key word here is swelling — which means inflammation. Because the olive leaf is such a potent anti-inflammatory agent, it may work as a natural arthritis remedy. Studies have shown that olive leaf extracts cuts down on the chronic pain that is associated with osteoarthritis, and it reduces the production of cytokines and enzymes that are markers for the inflammatory process. Vitamin B6 Low levels of vitamin B6 have been associated with increased symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), including more severe pain. Certain early studies are finding that people with RA may need more vitamin B6 than healthy people because they experience ongoing muscle aches and joint pain due to chronic inflammation. Vitamin B6 benefits include curbing pain and may be useful in supplement form for controlling aches in the muscles and joints due to arthritis. Turmeric The journal Oncogene published the results of a study that evaluated several anti-inflammatory compounds and found that aspirin and ibuprofen, two of the most common NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are least effective, while curcumin is among the most effective anti-inflammatory compounds in the world.

Also, a cup of turmeric milk can help to relieve cough symptoms and promote restful sleep. 3. Suffer from symptoms of arthritis and arthritic pain? Then turmeric can be especially benefit for you in this regard. Many individuals around the world consume turmeric for its natural and positive effects on arthritic pain. This spice is a potent natural anti-inflammatory and helps to eliminate inflammation through out our entire body. This can help to reduce symptoms of arthritis such as pain, swelling and stiffness. It can also be consumed to help with symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis and help with joint flexibility. These great anti-inflammatory properties are due to the presence of curcumin in turmeric, a very healthy compound. 4. Drinking turmeric milk can also help to detoxify our entire body. Turmeric Curcumin and Pancreatic Cancer

Carcinogens in grilled and baked chicken may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer, while curcumin, the yellow pigment in the spice turmeric, may sometimes help even in advanced stages of the disease. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) My grandfather died of pancreatic cancer. By the time the first symptom arose—a dull ache in his gut—it was too late. That’s why we need to prevent it in the first place. I previously touched on pancreatic cancer prevention in Largest Study Ever (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/largest-study-ever/) and Poultry Exposure Tied to Liver and Pancreatic Cancer (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/poultry-exposure-tied-to-liver-and-pancreatic-cancer/) and attempts at pancreatic cancer treatment in Gerson Therapy for Cancer (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/gerson-therapy-for-cancer/) and Gerson-style Therapy vs. Chemotherapy (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/gerson-therapy-vs-chemotherapy/). What is Turmeric Good For? 10 Turmeric Health Benefits

04:22
Lots of people use the turmeric herb in their cooking. The main signs of turmeric are its pepper- like smell, sharp taste, and golden color. Turmeric is known to stop swelling, kill bacteria and viruses, as well as many other things. It is also full of nutrients, like protein, dietary fiber, niacin, Vitamins C, E, and K, calcium, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. Because of this, turmeric is a great thing to use to cure health problems. Here are the top ten things turmeric can be used for: Prevents Cancer Turmeric can block prostate cancer and even kill cancer cells. It can also stop tumor cells from growing, so it can guard the body from getting cancer in the first place. Relieves Arthritis Because turmeric brings down swelling, it’s great to use for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It also kills germs that harm body cells. People with rheumatoid arthritis who eat turmeric all the time have gotten much rest from pain and joint swelling. Controls Diabetes Turmeric can help cure diabetes, by keeping insulin at normal levels. It also helps with sugar control, and makes the medicine used for diabetes work. But if used with strong medicines, turmeric can cause low blood sugar, so make sure to ask your doctor before you take turmeric capsules. Reduces Cholesterol Levels Using turmeric as a spice can bring down cholesterol levels. Because high cholesterol can cause other health problems, it is important to stay on top of it to stop heart disease. Immunity Booster Turmeric helps keep the body’s immune system going. It also helps strengthen the immune system, because it kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This stops you from getting colds, coughs, and the flu. To help you feel better if you do get sick, mix one teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of warm milk and drink it once a day. Heals Wounds Because turmeric naturally kills germs and bacteria, it can be used to clean wounds. If you have a cut or burn, sprinkle some turmeric powder on it to help it heal quicker. It can also help treat psoriasis- itchy, dead skin- and other skin conditions. Weight Management Turmeric powder can help keep the body at a proper weight, by helping break down fat. Someone who wants to lose weight or treat obesity and sicknesses that come with it, can have one teaspoon of turmeric with every meal. Prevents Alzheimer’s Disease Swelling of the brain is one of the main reasons for cognitive disorders, like Alzheimer’s disease. Turmeric can keep the brain healthy, by helping oxygen flow. This can also slow down or totally stop Alzheimer’s disease. Improves Digestion Turmeric can help with digestion, by lessening bloating and gas. It can also help treat inflammatory bowel disease. But be careful, because if you suffer from a gallbladder disease you should not take turmeric, as that can make it worse. Also, if you have a digestive problem, it is best to eat raw turmeric, and not capsules. Prevents Liver Disease Turmeric is a natural way to force poisons from the liver. The liver takes poison out of the blood, and turmeric helps make the enzymes that keep it working. It also helps strengthen, and better blood flow. All of this helps to keep the liver healthy. Because of all the ways turmeric can help your health, adding this herb to your diet is a great idea. What role might turmeric play in preventing Alzheimer’s in the first place? The anti-inflammatory effect of curcumin, the pigment in the spice turmeric, was put to the test to see if it could reduce postoperative pain and fatigue after surgery. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) Here’s the video I mentioned on preventing gallstones in the first place: Cholesterol Gallstones (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/cholesterol-gallstones/). The “p value” I mention in the video refers to a measure of the strength of evidence. The smaller it is, the stronger the evidence is that the result they found didn’t just happen by chance. By convention, a p value under 0.05 is considered small enough for a result to be considered statistically significant. This means that you’d only expect to find a result that remarkable simply by coincidence 5% of the time, or in 1 out of 20 cases. So, a p value like the one in the study, less than .000, suggests you’d have to run the experiment thousands of times before you’d come up with such a dramatic result just by chance. Since arthritis is so common and the results so interesting, it’s worth a closer look. • Researchers from the University of South Dakota have found that pretreatment with curcumin makes cancer cells more vulnerable to chemo and radiotherapy. • Rodent studies at the University of Texas indicate that curcumin inhibits the growth of a skin cancer, melanoma and also slows the spread of breast cancer into the lungs. • Kansas State University research found that adding certain spices, including turmeric, can reduce the levels of heterocyclic amines — carcinogenic compounds that are formed when meats are barbecued, boiled or fried — by up to 40 percent. • Epidemiologists have hypothesized that the turmeric that is part of daily curries eaten in India may help explain the low rate of Alzheimer’s disease in that country. Among people aged 70 to 79, the rate is less than one-quarter that of the United States. “ Hence, these are quite a lot of reasons to try the turmeric tea right away, aren’t they? Turmeric Tea Recipe: Ingredients: • 1 cup Coconut Milk (or almond) • ½ tspn Cinnamon • ½ tspn Turmeric • 1/8 tspn Nutmeg • Dash of Cayenne Pepper • Raw honey to taste Instructions: Put coconut milk, spices and honey in a sauce pan heat up slowly on low heat. If you put it on high heat the coconut milk will get too thick. Enjoy.

Rheumatoid Arthritis | turmuric for rheumatoid arthritis

https://www.arthritistreatmentcenter.com An old spice gets a new life… next UA Studies Turmeric to Treat Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Sara Hammond writing in Arizona Public Media reported the South Asian spice turmeric is being studied by University of Arizona researchers to see how it could be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Turmeric has been traditionally known for its anti-inflammatory benefits. How it affects the body had not been determined. Janet Funk, an associate professor of medicine at UA, and her research team have studied the compounds in turmeric for about a decade. The chemicals in turmeric “can inactivate a protein that’s responsible for starting at the very tip of the cascade of inflammatory events that happens in your body. So if you inhibit this one protein you prevent lots and lots of inflammatory things from being produced,” Funk said. Comment: More and more is being discovered about this amazing herb. https://youtu.be/yfo_vQy_j-M

Multiple researchers have found that the active components in turmeric makes it one of the best protectors against radiation-induced tumors. It also has a preventive effect against tumor cells such as T-cell leukemia, colon carcinomas and breast carcinomas. 2.Relieves Arthritis The anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric are great for treating both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, turmeric’s antioxidant property destroys free radicals in the body that damage body cells. It has been found that those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis who consume turmeric on a regular basis experience much relief from the moderate to mild joint pains as well as joint inflammation. 3. Controls Diabetes Turmeric can be used in the treatment of diabetes by helping to moderate insulin levels. It also improves glucose control and increases the effect of medications used to treat diabetes. Another significant benefit is turmeric’s effectiveness in helping reduce insulin resistance, which may prevent the onset of Type-2 diabetes. However, when combined with strong medications, turmeric can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). It is best to consult a healthcare professional before taking turmeric capsules. 4. Turmeric also helps repair damaged skin and may be used to treat psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions. 7. Weight Management Turmeric powder can be very helpful in maintaining an ideal body weight. A component present in turmeric helps increase the flow of bile, an important component in the breakdown of dietary fat. Those who wish to lose weight or treat obesity and other associated diseases can benefit from having one teaspoon of turmeric powder with every meal. 8. Prevents Alzheimer’s Disease memory loss Brain inflammation is suspected to be one of the leading causes of cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.
