Watch: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWEtbsfLxtY) The 10 Best Snack Ideas For Gluten-Free Foods For Kids Kids typically love to munch on different treats, and eating healthy snacks throughout the day can boost their energy and nutritional intake. Keeping your kids gluten-free, though, can be challenging, especially when it comes to snacks. By the time you finally find the right afternoon fix, your kid is likely already in the middle of a meltdown. Lucky for you, help is on the way with these 10 easy and gluten-free snacks. Gluten-Free Diet Basics Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and triticale. If your child has celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, you already know that they should avoid all products made with gluten-containing grains. For them, eating gluten could result in serious side effects such as: * anemia * malnutrition * rash or eczema * joint pain * headaches * fatigue * nervous system issues One of the biggest misconceptions about eating gluten-free is that it’s automatically healthy. But many prepackaged, gluten-free products are high in calories, fat, sodium, and added sugars. But don’t despair! Arm yourself with the right ingredients and a little knowledge, and you’ll keep your kids gluten-free and healthy. 1. Sweet Potato Crunchies Sweet potatoes are a great source of fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate. Kids will love munching on these crispy, spiced chips fried in olive or coconut oil. 2. Cheez-It Crackers If your kids are fans of mini cheese crackers (and which kid isn’t?), try this homemade version. It’s made with gluten-free flour, sharp cheddar cheese, butter, sea salt, and water - that’s it. Your kids will love the taste and you’ll love that it only requires a few pantry staples. 3. Homemade Honey Tiny Teddies What kid doesn’t love dipping those tiny teddy bear graham crackers into a cold glass of milk? You can make a healthier variety at home using gluten-free flour, honey, brown sugar, and vanilla. Best of all, your kids can pick out the cookie cutter shape. 4. No-Bake Gluten-Free Granola Bars Bought granola bars may seem like a healthy snack, but they’re often packed with added sugar and preservatives. These gluten-free bars provide taste and nutrition from honey, gluten-free oats, unsweetened coconut chips, and coconut oil. Make a batch on the weekend, and package them up for a weekday grab-and-go breakfast. 5. Gluten-Free Corn Dog Muffins While they’re not exactly healthy, corn dogs are still a favorite for kids. Fortunately, these mini muffin tin corn dogs are smaller in size and made from gluten-free corn muffin mix. Choose uncured hot dogs to avoid artificial nitrates and preservatives. 6. Allergy-Free Soft Pretzel Bites Chewy, warm soft pretzels are the perfect snack, but most are made with flours containing gluten. These pretzel bites can be made with gluten-free flour and are even more delicious when dipped in your kids’ favorite gluten-free dipping sauce. 7. Gluten-Free Cucumber Sandwiches Healthy cucumber rounds take the place of bread in these bite-sized sandwiches that are just as fun to make as they are to eat. This recipe calls for avocado, tomato, turkey, and cheese, but feel free to substitute with your child’s favorite lean meats, veggies, or hummus. 8. The Best Gluten-Free Chex Mix Despite being a snack staple for kids, store-bought Chex mix isn’t always gluten-free. Forgo the packaged brand and make a healthier version at home by controlling what you put in and what you leave out! This recipe uses gluten-free pretzels and bagel chips, as well as rice and corn cereal and peanuts. 9. Peanut Butter and Jelly Oatmeal Breakfast Bars When it comes to enjoying a PB&J, no child should be left behind because of food allergies. If you nix the bread and replace it with gluten-free oats, your kids can enjoy the timeless snack duo too. Choose natural peanut butter for healthier results or almond butter if your child has a peanut allergy. 10. Applesauce Banana Spice Bread Replacing oil with applesauce in a quick bread recipe results in moister, healthier bread. Add brown rice flour, honey, and arrowroot powder to make a snack that you’re proud to give your kids. 10 Warning Signs of Gluten Intolerance Everyone Ignores!
Gluten is part of our daily lives, due to the large number of foods that contain gluten that we eat every day. We do this without realizing how much gluten we are ingesting. Breads, cakes, pizza, pastas, cookies, and biscuits all contain gluten—and there are many more also. Without a doubt foods that contain gluten are among the most consumed foods all over the world. I mean, who doesn’t like pasta, right? Meanwhile a lot of people are allergic or intolerant to gluten without realizing it. Few people know what gluten really is and where it’s found. Then, what exactly is gluten? It’s the mixture of proteins that are specifically found in the formation of grains such wheat, rye, and barley. Because many foods are made from these grains, including healthy foods such as cereal bars, gluten is widely found in our food chain. Knowing that gluten is, is an important step in improving your quality of life; however, some of the symptoms of a gluten allergy or intolerance are so common that many people don’t even realize they are allergic or intolerant to gluten. Besides that, few people know the name associated with gluten intolerance, and are therefore unable to seek treatment or change their eating habits. Have you ever heard of Celiac Disease? This sickness is an autoimmune condition that affects people with hypersensitivity to gluten. Let’s learn about the ten most common symptoms related to a gluten allergy, in order to understand the best way to create a routine to avoid gluten. 1. Digestive problems Slow digestion or indigestion is one of the main symptoms of gluten intolerance and/or Celiac Disease. It’s important to be especially alert to constant flatulence, stomach pain, bloating, and diarrhea. 2. Headache One sign of possible gluten intolerance is chronic headaches, especially after eating anything with gluten in it. This is not a symptom closely linked to Celiac Disease, but it is a good indication of whether you are intolerant to gluten. Try to pay attention whether or not the pain starts after eating foods with gluten. 3. Chronic Weakness Constant fatigue, without having performed any physical exercise, is a strong indication of gluten intolerance as well as for Celiac Disease. 4. Mental Confusion Gluten intolerance can cause confusion, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating. Be aware, as these are also symptoms associated with fatigue, stress or aging. 5. Joint Pain Gluten intolerance causes inflammation in various parts of the body, especially in the joints. 6. Immune System Problems Immune system failures can be consequences of a gluten intolerance. With Celiac Disease, the clearest symptom is anemia, which also damages the immune system. 7. Depression Gluten intolerance is also harmful to people who have depression because it intensifies the symptoms of anxiety, irritability, and sudden mood swings. 8. Skin Lesions For people who have Celiac Disease, skin lesions such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis and others, are very clear symptoms of the disease. These symptoms also appear in people with a gluten intolerance, but to a lesser degree. 9. Tooth Decay When the person has a gluten intolerance, the teeth are weakened and there is a greater chance of cavities. 10. Hormonal Disorders Hormones can also be severely affected in people with an intolerance to gluten. In cases of Celiac Disease, a very rapid increase or decrease in weight may be symptomatic of estrogen levels which are out of control. So periodic hormone-level tests are very important. What to do if you have Celiac Disease and/or gluten intolerance? If you notice more than one of these symptoms in your daily routine, the first step is to pay a visit to your doctor and ask him to order multiple tests. Ask specifically for him to run the test for Celiac Disease. After diagnosis, be prepared to eliminate gluten from your daily diet. If the symptoms are extremely bothersome, you can also do a simple test: Eat a gluten-free diet for a while and check for improvement in your condition. If you feel better, just confirm the diagnosis with the doctor so you can continue your treatment. 7 Foods to Treat Gluten Intolerance | 7 Gluten free foods
Gluten-free diet has become a rage these days owing to a rise in the number of people getting diagnosed with gluten intolerance and celiac disease. Gluten intolerance refers to a condition in which a person exhibits allergy symptoms after consuming a diet containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and some other grains like rye. The initial symptoms of gluten allergy range from bloating, indigestion, fatigue to some more serious symptoms like neurological problems, weight loss, skin issues and osteoporosis. For this reason it is imperative for those suffering from gluten intolerance to eliminate sources of gluten from one’s diet to lead a healthy life. Furthermore, following a gluten free diet has shown to improve the quality of health in people with no symptoms of gluten allergy. Apart from all the benefits a gluten free diet offers, there is a flip side as going completely gluten-free also means loss of certain essential nutrients that are found aplenty in gluten rich foods. Hence, while planning out a gluten free diet, one should include lots of foods rich in those nutrients to curb the possibility of nutritional deficiencies.

10 Most WARNING Signs of Gluten Intolerance
Gluten intolerance, also called gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease- when it’s in its most severe form- can have symptoms that range from no symptoms to life threatening or debilitating chronic health problems and anywhere in between. Often, these symptoms are not consistent from person to person and this is part of what makes gluten testing or Diagnosing Gluten Sensitivity so difficult for medical professionals. Gluten sensitivity and intolerance can manifest as much more than just IBS-like symptoms and stomach problems. That’s why doctors are more likely to dismiss the idea that you even have this because if they don’t hear about digestive problems as your chief complaint, then it must be something else. More than 55 diseases have been linked to gluten, the protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. It's estimated that 99% of the people who have either gluten intolerance or celiac disease are never diagnosed. But how can you tell if you really are gluten intolerant? For some, eating this mainly wheat-derived protein is just fine, while others experience a full range of symptoms, some of which can make life nightmarish. If you have experienced at least 7 of these 10 symptoms after eating foods containing gluten, it might be time to think about modyfying your diet. TOP 10 Warning Signs of Gluten Intolerance Everyone Ignores!
10 Warning Signs of Gluten Intolerance Everyone Ignores! About 1 in 133 Americans has some form of gluten intolerance. While it’s an easily fixable condition, many people wait for 6 to 10 years to be diagnosed. The vast majority of people with the condition will never be diagnosed. And that’s a shame when you consider how far-reaching the symptoms are. Some people go to all sorts of lengths to treat the mental and physical symptoms of gluten intolerance without ever really figuring out gluten is at the root of their problems. Are you one of them? Let’s take a look at 10 commonly-ignored signs and symptoms of gluten intolerance. 1. Digestive Issues There are many digestive issues associated with gluten intolerance. These include gas, abdominal pain or cramping, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation in children. (Medicine Net) Also pay attention for foul-smelling stool and nausea after eating foods with gluten as that’s likely to be your body trying to tell you something. 2. Keratosis Pilaris Keratosis pilaris, otherwise known as chicken skin, is a skin condition that appears as raised, hard bumps on the skin. They look like goosebumps, but they don’t go away like goosebumps would. This skin condition along with dermatitis herpetiformis, a similar skin condition, has been linked to gluten intolerance. (USNews) It can be easy to shrug keratosis pilaris off as it’s technically harmless, which is why it often gets missed as a symptom of gluten intolerance. 3. Loss of Energy or Attention If you feel like your brain is foggy or fatigued after eating a meal with gluten, this may be a sign of gluten intolerance. It happens because your body is working hard to remove a harmful substance and it takes away from your normal energy. (Allergic Living) 4. Diagnosis of an Autoimmune Disease If you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and are experiencing some of the other symptoms we’ve mentioned, the culprit for all could be a gluten intolerance. Many people with gluten intolerance will develop the symptoms of an autoimmune disease, especially if they also have celiac disease. (Celiac Central) 5. Mental Illness Neurological issues like peripheral neuropathy (tingling in the extremities), epilepsy, depression, anxiety, and ADHD are all associated with gluten intolerance. (About Health) Interestingly enough, although gluten-intolerant individuals bear the brunt of its depression-causing properties, even those without gluten intolerance have been found to experience depression when eating it consistently. 6. Infertility When a person who is gluten intolerant eats gluten, they put their body in an inflamed state, which can make it more difficult for them to contribute to reproduction – whether male or female. (Hillcrest Hospital South) Once gluten-intolerant patients adopt a gluten-free diet, their reproductive system goes back to normal. 7. Migraines Migraines are commonly caused by food intolerances like chocolate or gluten. If you get chronic migraine headaches, it may be a gluten intolerance. (Gluten Free Society) 8. Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia According to one study, a gluten intolerance may be the source of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. (NCBI) Many people who are diagnosed with these conditions never understand why they have them when really it’s as simple as what they’re putting in their stomachs. 9. Joint Pain Joint pain, inflammation and swelling are common signs of gluten intolerance. (Celiac Central) Many people with arthritis who don’t realize they also have a gluten intolerance face harsher arthritis symptoms as a result of continuing on a gluten-laden diet. 10. Mood Swings Eating gluten when you’ve got an intolerance to it can lead to mood swings. (SFGate) It can also lead to anger management issues.

Gluten - What Is Gluten - Gluten sensitivity.
In this video I discuss what is gluten, and gluten sensitivity. I also cover the gluten free lifestyle, gluten intolerance, foods that contain gluten, and what is gluten free foods. Transcript (partial with notes) What is gluten? Gluten is a protein found in grains, such as wheat, barley, rye and oats. Common foods that contain gluten include bread, cereal, pasta, and crackers, but it is also sometimes present in beer, soy sauces, ice cream and even ketchup. It helps baked goods rise, and also provides a chewy texture. Celiac disease. Gluten can cause severe problems in some people. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, meaning that the body attacks itself. The immune system will treat gluten like a foreign invader, attacking it, as well as the villi lining the small intestine. This causes a nutrient absorption problem, as the villi are where nutrients are absorbed, and it can also lead to other digestive issues. Gluten sensitive. There are also many non-Celiac disease people who have sensitivity to gluten. They can have issues such as bloating, diarrhea and constipation, headaches and fatigue. Many people who do not have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity have adopted a gluten free lifestyle. But many health care professionals advise to do this with caution, as many whole grains are nutrient rich, providing vitamins, minerals and fiber. There is nothing wrong with adopting a gluten free lifestyle, if you do so, just make sure you are still consuming a nutrient rich diet that is making up for the lost nutrients that are sometimes associated with foods that contain gluten.

10 Warning Signs Of Gluten Intolerance
Title: 10 Warning Signs Of Gluten Intolerance When many people hear about issues with gluten, they automatically think of Celiac disease, but many people simply have an intolerance to gluten and not the full-blown Celiac disease. When you have an intolerance, this likely will not show up on blood work, so you need to track your symptoms, your diet and then see how the two match up. It is estimated that as many as 18 million Americans are suffering from a gluten intolerance that is not related to Celiac disease. Because of this, you want to know the warning signs so that you can be on the lookout for them. Here are the 10 important warning signs of gluten intolerance. 1)Digestive Issues: Digestive issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhea and even constipation will be caused because of gluten. Constipation is seen particularly in children after eating gluten. 2)Keratosis Pilaris: Also known as 'chicken skin' on the back of your arms. This tends be as a result of a fatty acid deficiency and vitamin A deficiency secondary to fat-malabsorption caused by gluten damaging the gut. 3)Loss Of Energy Or Attention: Fatigue, brain fog or feeling tired after eating a meal that contains gluten. 4)Diagnosis Of An Auto Immune Disease: There is research being conducted looking at whether or not autoimmune diseases and gluten intolerance are related. Some scientists are looking to see if an autoimmune disease increases the risk of this intolerance or if this intolerance enhances the risk of autoimmune disease. 5)Neurological Symptoms: Some people with this intolerance start experiencing different neurological symptoms that can inhibit their ability to function. Things like feeling off balance, a reduction in coordination and episodes of dizziness can all occur. These happen within about an hour after eating a meal that contains gluten. 6)Infertility: Hormone imbalances such as PMS, PCOS or unexplained infertility will occur if you are eating gluten. 7)Migraines: The connection between gluten and migraines. Gluten may be a trigger for migraines in some people. One recent study has suggested a link between celiac disease and migraines. Migraines may even be an early symptom of celiac disease in some people, though migraine is considered a rare complication of celiac disease. 8)Chronic Fatigue Or Fibromyalgia: Sensitivity to gluten with negative celiac disease testing or non-celiac sensitivity to gluten is a recently recognized problem with clinical manifestations that are superimposed with those of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and irritable bowel syndrome. 9)Joint Pain: Other Signs of Celiac Disease or a Gluten Sensitivity. If gluten is causing joint pain, it might also cause other symptoms, such as: Digestive issues, such as stomach aches, heartburn, bloating, and diarrhea. Skin and hair problems, such as rashes. 10)Mood Swings: Non-celiac gluten sensitivity patients will respond well to a gluten-free diet to treat symptoms like depression, mood swings, and violence. Other symptoms include headaches, fatigue, joint pain, eczema, acne, and constipation. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook rice for 25 minutes. Remove from the heat and drain any excess water. Rinse the rice. Spread cooked rice in a single layer on a baking sheet. Either heat in a 250°F, 120°C, gas mark ½ for 2 hours or allow to completely dry on the counter. Counter drying can take any where from 4 days to 2 weeks depending on atmospheric conditions. Heat ½ inch canola oil in a large pan to 350°F, 180°C. Fry rice in batches in the hot oil for about 20 seconds removing immediately to a paper towel lined baking sheet. Change paper towels after all the rice is cooked to drain as much oil as possible. Makes about 2 cups of puffed rice. Sweetened Puffed Rice Treats All the puffed rice, 2 cups 1 cup of gluten-free rolled oats ½ cup sliced almonds, toasted ¼ cup honey or light corn syrup, do not substitute agave nectar ¼ cup white granulated sugar ¼ cup, 4 tablespoons, 57g dairy free margarine or vegan butter ½ teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Mix the rice, oats and almonds in a large mixing bowl, set aside. Spray mini muffin or doughnut baking tins with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside. In a small saucepan, melt the margarine. Add the sugar, honey or corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil and boil over medium-low heat for 6 minutes. Add the vanilla extract off heat. Working quickly, add the caramel mixture to the rice mixture stirring to completely coat all the pieces. Using a 1½, tablespoon, #40 disher for the mini muffins, or a ¼ cup, #20 disher for the doughnut tins, divide the mixture into the prepared pans and press firmly into the wells. Allow to cool for a few minutes then turn out onto your serving platter.
