History project about transportation. There are a few mistakes in the uses of "18th century" and 17th ones. But overall it's meant to be educational and entertaining. If it wasn't funny, then it would have been too boring to make.

Urbanization and the future of cities - Vance Kite
View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/urbanization-and-the-future-of-cities-vance-kite About 10,000 years ago, hunter-gatherers, aided by rudimentary agriculture, moved to semi-permanent villages and never looked back. With further developments came food surpluses, leading to commerce, specialization and, many years later with the Industrial Revolution, the modern city. Vance Kite plots our urban past and how we can expect future cities to adapt to our growing populations. Lesson by Vance Kite, animation by ATMG Studio.

I strongly suggest that you change the video quality to 1080p HD before watching. Thanks! Cars, an invention that has been around for many decades and has revolutionized the transportation industry. Millions of ordinary citizens, like you and me, have been using this form of technology and yet, very few understand the journey this invention had gone through. So, just exactly when, did the first car roll out? To find this answer, well be going back to 1769. It was during this year where Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot came out with first self propelled car. Although it seems as a just pot of water attached to a tricycle, it also received the recognition as worlds first car accident. It wasn't until 1880's when inventor Karl (Carl) Benz came up with the first gasoline-powered car. Years past by into the 1890's where the car was remodeled to obtain four wheels and also including the seat belts to ensure the safety of the driver & passengers. It was during this time period where more features were added from lights to stronger & better gripped wheels. As better designs came out, more features were brought along with it from windows to radios. Unfortunately, it was he upper class families who owned these cars until the target audience expanded to include the middle class families years later. By that, I mean the price value altered. In some cases two per family. It was after the 1920's where the auto industry adapted to cars running on gasoline. Decades later GM and other auto industries followed up with the theme of being environmentally friendly. They addressed the rising concern of Global Warming after coming out with the electric car. (GM had now created the EV1) Today's cars are now based on the theme of being fuel efficient where it's not only good for the environment but more affordable for the low culture families (what we would refer to as middle class). This includes the additional features of GPS systems and automated parking programs to expand production to even those are less sophisticated and have disposable income. In other words, the cars we have today, are being designed for the older Youth Culture. These additional features may show how life can become more easy but it also sets a standard for how lazy this generation has become compared to the previous customs of the low brow generation. Now that you learned some "wheely" interesting facts we're now left with the question, where do we go from here? Well that question was actually solved back in 2007 with the creation of the AUTONOMOUS ROBOT CAR. "SOCIETY'S VEHICLES THAT WILL DRIVE YOU" These cars require no drivers at all so that would simply fire the need for personal drivers and add to the unemployment rate. However, this idea is still under construction and was specifically intended for military purposes where officials desired most of the combat vehicles to be unmanned by live soldier. In no time we would probably have robot soldiers but that's another movie for another time. In this situation, we are taking a glimpse of what the high culture has in store for the next Youth Culture generation. With technology being taken to the extent of making our lives this much more simplified for 2020, who knows where we would be in 2050. WORKS CITED LIST Brown, Lester R. Taming Big Sky Country: The History of Montana Transportation from Trails to Interstates
The state’s major routes evolved from ancient Native American trails into four-lane expressways in a little over a century. That story is one of difficult, groundbreaking, and sometimes poor engineering decisions, as well as a desire to make a journey faster, safer, and more comfortable. It all started in 1860, when John Mullan hacked a wagon road over the formidable Rocky Mountains to Fort Benton. It continued until the last section of interstate highway opened to traffic in 1988. Montana Department of Transportation historian Jon Axline charts a road trip through the colorful and inspiring history of trails, roads, and superhighways in Big Sky Country.
