12 Tips To Take Care Of Your Feet If You Have Diabetes

04:08
If you or someone you know is suffering from diabetes, then it is crucial to ensure that you maintain the health of your feet. Yes, here are a few tips to care for your feet if you are a diabetic individual. Most of us may have experienced minor foot injuries at some point in our lives. We take the necessary precautions and allow it to heal. However, when a person with diabetes has an injury or an infection on his feet, then it becomes a major concern, as the wound or infection healing capacity in diabetic patients is extremely low due to poor blood circulation. The healing capacity of the feet tissues can be even lower in diabetic patients, as the feet are located in the extremities, further reducing blood flow to the region. If diabetic patients do not take care of their feet well, then the injuries and infections may even turn into gangrene, which is another deadly disease. So, here are a few tips to take care of your feet if you are a diabetic patient, have a look. Tips #1 Ensure you check your feet every night, before bed, for minor cuts, injuries, callouses, corn, etc., so that you can take immediate treatment. Tips #2 Diabetes feet care tips include asking someone to have a look at your feet regularly, if you cannot bend down due to body pain. Tips #3 You can use a small hand mirror to have a look at the bottom of your feet to check for signs, which is another feet care tip for diabetic patients. Tips #4 Even if you notice minor irritation or redness, small cuts, etc., on your feet, you must visit your doctor. Tips #5 In case you experience cuts or burns, clean them with antiseptic gels and apply ointments immediately. Tips #6 Another feet care tip for diabetic individuals includes moisturising your feet regularly, as dryness may lead to cracks and infection. Tips #7 Be extremely careful while clipping your toenails; and if you are unsure, you can ask someone for help. Tips #8 Another feet care tip for diabetic patients includes using nail clippers designed for toe nails, not fingernails, as they are wider and can avoid injury. Tips #9 Ensure that you file your toe nails after clipping them, as clipped nails can still be sharp and cause injury. Tips #10 Avoid using heating pads on your feet, as this habit may induce numbness in that area and you may not be able to tell when there is an injury. Tips #11 Another feet care tip for diabetic patients includes walking with footwear or slippers at all times, even indoors. Tips #12 Before wearing a pair of shoes, check them for stone, dirt or dust particles that may harm your feet. Video URL : https://youtu.be/y6-tcyLD6C8

Living With Diabetes and Without Junk Food

02:56
By Jamie - Age 14 | For seven years of my life, I grew up in the foster system. I had to leave my mom’s house because of the decision to stop being there for her children. At the time, it was just me, an eight year old girl, and my brother, and an eleven year old severely autistic boy. One day the police showed up at our house. They asked me a lot of questions and then told us I would be staying at my aunt's house with her three kids, and my brother to a home for his needs. I stayed with my Aunt and cousins for a year and a half, until one day my Aunt told me to pack some clothes. I thought I was going to spend some time with my other Aunt and cousins, so happily I went and packed some clothes but, once I was done I went to the front room and my Aunt told me and my cousins I was going away for some time. I didn’t know what that meant but, we all cried, and my ??? showed up. My ??? didn’t tell me too much on our car ride there but, for most of the ride I cried. Once we got there, I was greeted by someone I would soon look up to as my sister, and by more people I would soon consider my family. I lived there for 2 and a half years. I wanted that to be my forever home, my forever family. But I found out my biological mom had another baby. He was only 5 months old and the state wanted us to be together forever. I moved in with him and his foster family. ??? threw up, cried, fussed, changed his diapers. I never thought I’d have a little brother, but there he was right before my eyes. I thought that was it for my foster placements but, I was wrong. Something didn’t work in that home and, we were moved after a year and a half of staying there. Now, we were with our very first white foster parent. A single mother, with three cute, but crazy kids. To say the least on that home, it didn’t work and, we left. On my last day of school, we were taken to our next foster home and, our last one thank you jesus. Another white family with four kids. A boy in the eleventh grade, a girl ???, another girl in the seventh grade, and another boy in like the fifth grade. And of course two parents, a mom and a dad and two lovely black dogs. Those people showed me and my brother so much love and care even after our hearts were broken by so many people at so many different times. I’ve never had a father figure in my life, so when I got to this one I didn’t really know how it felt to have a father at all. December 31, 2014, we were adopted by these people. Being here for two years now, I’ve received lots of love, and crazy rules and groundings. I’m blessed to have a place to finally call home Do you LOVE junk food? Tons of people do - especially when we're kids, it's everywhere. And so, getting addicted to sugar is easy. Do you kind of HATE healthy foods like vegetables and fruit? You're not alone. Jamie, up until a few years ago, ate nothing but junk food - all the time - chips, soda, candy, anything she could find that had lots and lots of sugar, or was fried, or processed, or just plain bad for you. It was all she craved. Even though her Mom told her not to eat all that junk food, and tried to get her to eat better healthier foods, she just ignored her and went on eating whatever she wanted. And this went on for a few years, until, Jamie started having trouble hearing. She didn't think much of it, but it got bad enough so that her Mom ended up taking her to the hospital. After the nurse tested her blood sugar - which Jamie hated since she hates blood and needles - she came back with bad news. Jamie had diabetes! It was a diagnosis she did not expect nor a disease she wanted. Her Mom was concerned, but Jamie was just totally confused - she had to learn all about it fast, AND, she had to take medicine - insulin - every single day. So, with a serious fear of needles and shots, Jamie found out that she had to give herself the shots, and monitor and test her blood sugar levels on her own. It was scary, and people would look at her when she had to do it and make her feel different and uncomfortable. But the hardest part of all was that she had to stop eating all of the junk food and sugar and start eating healthy foods. As a diabetic, She had to totally change her diet. And eventually, she got used to her new diet and at making healthier choices for eating and snacking. She even got used to the shots and is really living a normal life - but she does have to take care of herself a little more carefully than most kids her age and manage her diabetes. This is an important storytime to tell and to hear. Everyone's got a story....we want to hear yours! Patients Receive Advice On How To Take Care Of Their Diabetes | Embarrassing Bodies

07:47
Diabetes affects over 2 million people in the UK alone and many more worldwide. It has been a recognised condition for many thousands of years and was known as the ‘pissing evil’ in the 17th century, owing to the amount of sugar that was lost when urinating. It occurs when the body can’t utilise glucose (sugar) properly, either due to the lack of insulin in the body or the body not being able to utilise the insulin it has available. There are two types of diabetes, the most common is type 2 which affects 75% of UK sufferers and can normally be managed with dietary control, but the more serious is type 1 which usually involves needing regular insulin injections. The organ responsible for managing insulin is the pancreas, and type 1 diabetes is normally caused by its destruction or failure to function. For type 2 diabetes it is often a problem with the wider bodies sensors and receptors that fail to respond correctly to the production of insulin. Content licensed from All3Media. Diabetes Kidney Disease - Take Care

02:00
►► http://treatmentforkidneydisease.tamo... ◄◄ THE BEST NATURAL TREATMENT FOR KIDNEY DISEASE THAT EXISTS & REALLY WORKS!!! Diabetes Kidney Disease - Take Care Diabetes kidney disease is normally rare, and diabetes itself is not a direct disease. It is a retrograde functioning of the body which occurs due to low secretion of insulin (type 1) or due to ineffective insulin (type 2) produced by the pancreas. Diabetes and kidney disease are closely related. Insulin is a hormone that helps glucose floating in the blood to enter the blood cells. With the entry of the glucose into the cells, it is converted into energy needed for the body. If there is no insulin secretion, or if it is not working what it should, the glucose keeps on circulating in the blood stream. Prolonged excess blood glucose can result in many complications as the blood vessels are affected all over the body. Such a condition damages not only the kidneys, but even eyes and heart. Neuropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular disease are also other complications that affect many organs of the body. Consequently, the diabetes patient is at the mercy of medicines including daily injection of insulin. If one or both the kidneys are affected, it is a lamentable diabetes kidney disease. If the damaged condition becomes chronic, a surgery for transplant may be urgently needed. Kidneys contain millions of tiny filters called nephrons. These nephrons have even smaller vessels with them. They are destroyed badly over time, when the glucose levels are too high. The result is the failure of the kidneys, and the waste that should be excreted remains in the blood itself causing rigorous problems. Timely controlling of blood glucose levels reduces and prevents these complications. Checking blood sugar frequently is a good way to achieve this kind of control. Symptoms of kidney disease: High blood pressure can be recognized as an early symptom of kidney disease, deteriorating the proper function of kidneys. So, keeping normal blood pressure is essential. Here are two more connected symptoms with diabetes. 1. Increase of blood urea nitrogen above 30 mg/dl is one symptom of kidney not functioning properly that the doctors want to observe. So, keeping the urea level under limit is badly needed. 2. Creatinine is another waste product which should normally be excreted. The normal measure should be between 0.6 and 1.2 mg/dl. When there is an increase above 1.2, it is a sure indication of kidney function being affected. So, taking serious steps to keep this level under control is insisted. Kidney failure symptoms and treatment: Severe back pain is a symptom of kidney failure at start. The incidence of diabetes kidney failure is known as the end stage of renal disease. So, with the symptoms of renal failure, chance of survival becomes very low with routine medication. Either dialysis or a transplant can give better results. Whatever may be the kidney disease treatment you take, change of lifestyle with selected diabetes foods is highly needed to be free from all risks. diet for kidney disease kidney disease stages causes of kidney disease types of kidney disease chronic kidney disease stage 3 polycystic kidney disease symptoms kidney disease symptoms in women stage 4 kidney disease chronic kidney disease stages kidney disease in dogs chronic kidney disease diet kidney disease stage 3 kidney disease in children treatment for kidney disease stages of chronic kidney disease cystic kidney disease symptoms kidney disease polycystic kidney disease diet renal kidney disease

Diabetes Week | Facts, Myths, Theresa May is Diabetic? and Why Care 🤔

02:24
Did you know every 5 minutes in Australia someone is developing diabetes? Every day this week I’ll be sharing with you the different types of diabetes from Type 1, Type 2, Gestational and Pre-diabetes, what causes them, the symptoms, how to manage it and how to lower your risk. MYTHS Unlike other diseases such as the common cold or flu. Diabetes is not contagious. It cannot be passed by kissing and it is not a sexually transmitted disease. You don’t just get diabetes because you are overweight. Whilst it is a risk factor, not all overweight people will develop diabetes and similarly not all people of a healthy weight will avoid diabetes. Diabetes can cause some serious health issues, but when managed correctly you can continue to lead a normal healthy active lifestyle. Did you know Great Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May is diabetic? Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Halle Berry are diabetic. 18 time grammy award winner Aretha Franklin is diabetic. Even professional athletes such as NFL Quarterback Jay Cutler is diabetic. Ok these aren’t normal lifestyles, but you get the idea. ISSUE The main issue is that diabetes impacts the body’s ability to control its blood sugar levels. Having a high blood sugar level can affect a number of different organs in your body. It can lead to having a higher risk of heart attacks and stroke, kidney failure, vision problems, high blood pressure and mental health problems just to name a few. Whilst these can all have a negative impact on your life expectancy its important to remember that when managed correctly you can continue to lead a normal healthy lifestyle even sometimes having the honour of navigating Brexit. Good luck Ms. May ;) THANKS Thanks for watching, if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below, and be sure to view our other videos on diabetes. Take care and stay healthy. Reversing Type 2 diabetes starts with ignoring the guidelines | Sarah Hallberg | TEDxPurdueU

18:12
Can a person be "cured" of Type 2 Diabetes? Dr. Sarah Hallberg provides compelling evidence that it can, and the solution is simpler than you might think. Dr. Sarah Hallberg is the Medical Director of the Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program at IU Health Arnett, a program she created. She is board certified in both obesity medicine and internal medicine and has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has recently created what is only the second non-surgical weight loss rotation in the country for medical students. Her program has consistently exceeded national benchmarks for weight loss, and has been highly successful in reversing diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Dr. Hallberg is also the co-author of www.fitteru.us, a blog about health and wellness. SURVEY SHOCKING REPORT ON DIABETES IN MEN || Diabetes Care Club || Free Diabetes

03:05
Watch►SURVEY SHOCKING REPORT ON DIABETES IN MEN #FreeDiabetes Survey Shocking Report on Diabetes in Men Numerous population studies have revealed that men, compared to women, have twice the risk of getting diabetes between the ages of 34-55. Several studies are currently working to identify why, but so far, they have all been inconclusive. Diabetes is characterized by impairment in glucose metabolism, leading to excessive blood glucose levels. Such high blood sugar levels lead to serious consequences in both men and women, such as neuropathy, kidney disease and heart failure. Why are men at higher risk of type 2 diabetes? One possible theory behind the increased diabetes risk in men is that they, on average, get diabetes at a lower BMI. Obesity is one of the most important risk factors involved in the development of type 2 diabetes, leading to increased insulin resistance and therefore increased glucose blood levels. In a recent study by Glasgow University, the BMIs of 51,920 men and 43,137 women were obtained and compared 1 year after diagnosis with type 2 diabetes. This revealed that men were far more at risk of diabetes at a lower BMI, therefore requiring less weight gain to be at the same risk as women. One reason behind this could be that men without diabetes are more insulin resistant than women, so only a small increase in resistance is required for the condition to occur. Another possible reason behind the increased risk of diabetes in males is that there are a greater number of males with impaired fasting glucose (otherwise known as pre-diabetes). This condition is characterised by increased blood glucose levels which are not high enough to be classed as full diabetes. Not only type 2 which is more common in males. Type 1 diabetes is also more common in males than females. Due to hormonal protection, that more insulin can be released and glucose levels can be regulated. The increased risk of diabetes in males is the loss of protective testosterone in a condition called testosterone deficiency. This hormone is important in male development throughout puberty, leading to vital changes such as increased muscle and genital development. Various studies have recently revealed that males who have a deficiency in this hormone have a greater risk of developing diabetes. This is due to the important role of testosterone in the deposition of fats. It stimulates the formation of subcutaneous fat, which lowers the risk of diabetes You Want Really Control Your Sugar Levels by Using Natural Remedies And Smoothies At Home And Low Price, Then Watch This Channel #FD ( Free Diabetes ) : https://goo.gl/jBTFPc And Also Follow Us On Facebook : https://goo.gl/7Jws9o Blogger: https://goo.gl/StU7lW Play List : https://goo.gl/9VsAEq Twitter : https://goo.gl/4OcKoW Thanks For Watching This Video Like and Subscribe ========================================== DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this channel and its videos is for general purposes only and should not be considered as professional advice. Diabetes and Foot Care: What To Know

02:29
One of the most important things that people with diabetes can do to stay healthy and complication-free is take good care of their feet. Learn who needs to be particularly careful about their feet, and the three things that will prevent problems down the road. For more great information about type 2 diabetes, sign up for our free email program at www.DiabetesWhatToKnow.com/sign-up/ Sign up for our free email program at http://diabeteswhattoknow.com/ To subscribe for more go to http://ow.ly/SpX09 Transcript: For some people with diabetes, paying attention to their feet becomes especially important. When diabetes has not been well controlled, or sometimes when it has been present for a very long time, damage to the nerves, called neuropathy, can occur. This often first occurs in the feet, and is frequently unnoticed, as the most common symptom is loss of sensation. This is why your doctor should carefully check the sensation in your feet at least once a year. It is important that you know if there is any decrease in sensation, as this can put you at greater risk of problems with your feet. This numbness in your feet means that you may not notice the kinds of foot problems which would usually cause you discomfort, and therefore come to your attention. So there are three things you need to do: First, you need to examine your feet, especially the bottoms of your feet, every day. Pick a regular time, like after your shower or bath, before putting on your shoes, or before going to bed at night. You’re looking for blisters, breaks in the skin, bruises, redness, swelling, corns or calluses, ingrown toenails or changes in the shape of your foot. Run your hands lightly across your feet. Is everything smooth the way it should be? If it’s difficult to see the bottoms of your feet, use a mirror to inspect them, or ask your partner to check them for you. If you see a small change in your foot, such as a blister or red area, watch it closely. If it becomes worse, or if there is no improvement in the next day, let your doctor know. If left untreated, even a small problem in your feet can lead to a major problem, as people with neuropathy also are slower to heal from injuries to their feet. Second, you need to be more thoughtful about exposing your feet to potential problems. This means being careful to choose comfortable shoes that don’t constrict or rub your feet. You should avoid being barefooted at any time. Even at home, wear slippers or protective sandals to protect your feet and toes from injury. Third, talk to your doctor about how to trim your toenails, what kind of lotions or creams are safe for you, and whether you should also be under the care of a podiatrist—a specialist in foot care. Simple attention to these three points can prevent complications such as foot ulcers and amputations. When it comes to your feet, the best medicine is an ounce of prevention. And that’s what you need to know about diabetes and taking care of your feet. Thanks for watching! The medical information in these videos is provided as an information resource only. Diabetes care: How to Prevent and Control Diabetes Symptoms

02:41
How to Prevent and Control Diabetes Symptoms Diabetes prevention: 5 tips for taking control Changing your lifestyle could be a big step toward diabetes prevention — and it's never too late to start. Consider these tips. When it comes to type 2 diabetes — the most common type of diabetes — prevention is a big deal. It's especially important to make diabetes prevention a priority if you're at increased risk of diabetes, such as if you're overweight or you have a family history of the disease. Diabetes prevention is as basic as eating more healthfully, becoming more physically active and losing a few extra pounds. It's never too late to start. Making a few simple changes in your lifestyle now may help you avoid the serious health complications of diabetes down the road, such as nerve, kidney and heart damage. Consider the latest diabetes prevention tips from the American Diabetes Association. 1. Get more physical activity There are many benefits to regular physical activity. Exercise can help you: Lose weight Lower your blood sugar Boost your sensitivity to insulin — which helps keep your blood sugar within a normal range Research shows that aerobic exercise and resistance training can help control diabetes. The greatest benefit comes from a fitness program that includes both. 2. Get plenty of fiber It's rough, it's tough — and it may help you: Reduce your risk of diabetes by improving your blood sugar control Lower your risk of heart disease Promote weight loss by helping you feel full Foods high in fiber include fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains and nuts. 3. Go for whole grains It's not clear why, but whole grains may reduce your risk of diabetes and help maintain blood sugar levels. Try to make at least half your grains whole grains. Many foods made from whole grains come ready to eat, including various breads, pasta products and cereals. Look for the word "whole" on the package and among the first few items in the ingredient list. Diabetes is a serious disease. Following your diabetes treatment plan takes round-the-clock commitment. But your efforts are worthwhile. Careful diabetes care can reduce your risk of serious — even life-threatening — complications. Here are 10 ways to take an active role in diabetes care and enjoy a healthier future. 1. Make a commitment to managing your diabetes Members of your diabetes care team — doctor or primary care provider, diabetes nurse educator, and dietitian, for example — can help you learn the basics of diabetes care and offer support along the way. But it's up to you to manage your condition. Learn all you can about diabetes. Make healthy eating and physical activity part of your daily routine. Maintain a healthy weight. Monitor your blood sugar level, and follow your doctor's instructions for managing your blood sugar level. Ask your diabetes treatment team for help when you need it. 2. Don't smoke Smoking increases your risk of various diabetes complications, including: Reduced blood flow in the legs and feet, which can lead to infections, ulcers and possible removal of a body part by surgery (amputation) Heart disease Stroke Eye disease, which can lead to blindness Nerve damage Kidney disease Talk to your doctor about ways to help you stop smoking or using other types of tobacco. 3. Keep your blood pressure and cholesterol under control Like diabetes, high blood pressure can damage your blood vessels. High cholesterol is a concern, too, since the damage is often worse and more rapid when you have diabetes. When these conditions team up, they can lead to a heart attack, stroke or other life-threatening conditions. Eating a healthy, reduced-fat diet and exercising regularly can go a long way toward controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol. Your doctor may also recommend taking prescription medication. 4. Schedule regular physicals and eye exams Schedule two to three diabetes checkups a year, in addition to your yearly physical and routine eye exams. During the physical, your doctor will ask about your nutrition and activity level and look for any diabetes-related complications — including signs of kidney damage, nerve damage and heart disease — as well as screen for other medical problems. Your eye care specialist will check for signs of retinal damage, cataracts and glaucoma. 5. Keep your vaccines up to date High blood sugar can weaken your immune system, which makes routine vaccines more important than ever. Ask your doctor about: Flu vaccine. A yearly flu vaccine can help you stay healthy during flu season as well as prevent serious complications from the flu. Pneumonia vaccine. Sometimes the pneumonia vaccine requires only one shot. If you have diabetes complications or you're age 65 or older, you may need a five-year booster shot.

Do Diabetes Drugs Modify the Risk of Pancreatic Cancer | Diabetes Care Club

02:49
Hi Friends, Watch► Do Diabetes Drugs Modify the Risk of Pancreatic Cancer | Diabetes Care Club : https://goo.gl/UnZvu8 Type 2 diabetes mellitus is considered to play important roles in tumorigenesis and development of pancreatic cancer. Insulin resistance and up-regulated insulin-like growth factor I in type 2 diabetes mellitus are proposed to be the mechanisms underpinning the disease onset. New research suggests that targeting a particular cell signaling pathway with the diabetes drug metformin might offer a way to stop the progression and spread of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer: Pancreatic cancer is a cancer that starts in the cells of the pancreas, which is an organ behind the stomach that helps with digestion and blood sugar control. Because pancreatic cancer is hard to detect in the early stages, most cases are not diagnosed until the disease has started to spread. This makes it harder to treat and often leaves people with much poorer prospects compared with other types of cancer. This interest has led to clinical trials that are testing metformin not only as a cancer treatment, but also as way to prevent cancer in people at higher risk, such as those who have already had one cancer and have a higher risk of developing another type. Metformin: Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug commonly prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Recently, increasing evidence has indicated that metformin can decrease the risk of developing pancreatic cancer in patients with concurrent type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, this effect has not been observed with other anti-diabetic agents. Moreover, subsequent experimental studies have also confirmed the antitumor effect of metformin both in vitro and in vivo, which provided a rationale for clinical use of metformin in cancer treatment. Several meta-analyses have shown that metformin decreases the risk of pancreatic cancer However, some studies have suggested that the effect of metformin delivery varied among pancreatic cancer patients with different tumor stage, and therefore analysis of subgroups by tumor stage was performed In addition, all studies involved in the meta-analysis were cohort studies, and the results of two RCTs have been published recently. Consequently, further meta-analysis is required Follow us On Facebook: https://goo.gl/L2p5KT Twitter: https://goo.gl/LSiwaO Google + : https://goo.gl/R4UnR7 Blogger: https://goo.gl/DN6GtF Wordpress: https://goo.gl/F9yejA ================================= Thank you for watching Our videos For more –like-comment-share & subscribe ================================= DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this channel and its videos is for general purposes only and should not be considered as professional advice.
