Does it work, is it safe, and does it have the same side-effects of statin “cholesterol lowering” drugs?... One reason for all the questions and concerns is because Consumer Reports came out with a list of the 15 Supplement Ingredients to Always Avoid and Red Yeast Rice was one of the 15 ingredients on the list. And this is a very important topic because if the right form and amount of Red Yeast Rice is used, it’s an amazingly effective and safe ingredient. The Consumer Reports feedback about Red Yeast Rice… Unfortunately, the information is vague, wrong and inaccurate. They stated risks as: “Kidney and muscle problems, liver problems, hair loss; can magnify effect of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, increasing the risk of side effects” However, what they HAVE done is inaccurately listed “statin” drug side-effects!… Statin Drugs Are The REAL Problem One of the most prescribed drugs in the world for almost 2 decades, are cholesterol lowering statin drugs. Doctors used to (and still do) say how these drugs are “so amazing and healthy” for you. And the minute anyone had even slightly elevated cholesterol levels, doctors were quick to prescribe these powerful (and harmful) drugs. However, in the past few years the truth has come out… The fact that statin drugs are very toxic and have numerous side-effects — such as memory loss, muscle pain, liver damage, diabetes, high blood pressure, impotence and more. Red Yeast Rice & Statins Red Yeast Rice (a regular diet staple in Asia) naturally contains low levels of monacolin K, which is chemically similar to the active ingredient in the cholesterol-lowering statin drug Lovastatin. And because of this, Consumer Reports automatically and incorrectly ASSUMES that Red Yeast Rice is the “same” as statin drugs and thus, will have the same negative side-effects of statin drugs. Not only is this wrong, but it’s illegal in the US because… FDA Won’t Allow This In 2008, the FDA determined that red yeast rice products that contain more than trace amounts of monacolin K are considered as an “unapproved new drug” and cannot be sold legally as dietary supplements. And this was done primarily because the pharmaceutical companies didn’t want a natural ingredient to compete with their harmful drugs. Red yeast rice can’t cause any statin side-effects, if it doesn’t contain any “statin” in it. However, Red yeast rice still has numerous health and cholesterol-lowering benefits that is NOT related to monacolin K or lovastatin, and without any negative side-effects.2,5 So Consumer Reports was all wrong about Red Yeast Rice’s negative side-effects. Problem 1: Citrinin Some red yeast rice products contain a contaminant called citrinin, which can cause kidney failure in high dosages.4 So when purchasing any product containing Red Yeast Rice, make sure the citrinin is removed. Problem 2: Don’t Use It By Itself You never want to use Red Yeast Rice by itself because you’d have to use a very high dosage of it for it to work and be effective. The best products use red yeast rice, in conjunction with other key ingredients, at specific dosages to help create healthy cholesterol levels, HDL/LDL ratios and triglycerides. Other key ingredients you should look for when purchasing a cholesterol-lowering product, which also work in synergy with red yeast rice are: Policosanol Co-Q10 Pantesin® d-Pantethine Garlic Extract Artichoke Leaf Extract Guggulsterones Phytosterols Complex Cleanse & Strengthen Your Liver This is exactly the problem my parents had in 1998 and that’s why they now use an “all-in-one” remedy called CholesLo™. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Is Red Yeast Rice Extract OK To Lower Cholesterol On The Candida Diet?

03:33
Can you take Red Yeast Rice Extract to lower cholesterol while you have Candida, a subscriber wants to know. Here's my take on it... Hi there, Eric Bakker, naturopath from New Zealand. I've got an interesting question here from a subscriber. "Is red yeast rice extract okay to lower cholesterol on Candida Diet?" Well why would you want to lower cholesterol? I'm not sure if I've done any videos on cholesterol management but this whole cholesterol management, lower management thing is a huge myth. Most people have got no idea or understanding of cholesterol and its effects on the body. We're told that LDL or the bad cholesterol damages our health, and we're told that the high density lipoprotein, or the HDL is actually beneficial for health. But they're only giving you a very tiny little piece of the information. Heart disease occurs by way of inflammation and inflammatory mechanisms go far beyond just HDL and LDL ratios. So red yeast rice extract is basically a kind of a fungus, it's a yeast called monascus, and this basically is grown on rice. It's quite popular and has been used, I think like 300 before Christ they discovered this. So it's actually a type of a statin drug. So back in the '70s the Americans, I think Lovastatin came from a fungus called aspergillus. So aspergillus is a particular type of fungus that can also affect our bodies really bad if it grows in the lungs. But they isolated this particular drug, which they call now a drug, a statin drug, called Lovastatin back in the '70s, and what they found out that Lovastatin is very similar to the monostatin or the one from the monascus yeast. Did you get all that? I hope you did. So yeast, fungus can actually be quite beneficial for the body too because as you can see fungus have different effects on the body. In this case the monascus can block the effects of HMG-CoA reductase which is an enzyme which helps to produce the LDL. But you don't really need to lower LDL, it's a pretty dumb thing to do. You need to get your bowel functioning better. So by improving the bowel motions, you're going to have a much better ability for the body to bind to cholesterol in the gut and excrete it. You don't need to lower it through taking drugs, it's a stupid thing to do. So there are many, many different videos you can watch now on the internet about the cholesterol myth, or what we call the Big Fat Lie. It's a load of crap that you need to lower cholesterol in order to prolong life. You need to keep cholesterol balanced and in good amounts when you get older, 'cause cholesterol is a formation for four major hormonal pathways in the body, including production of testosterone, progesterone, estrogen, cortisol, [inaudible 00:02:39]. All these hormones rely on a good supply of cholesterol. So if you're mess around with cholesterol, you could also potentially mess around with hormones. There's a book called "The Thief of Memory," written by a lady who's husband was an astronaut, whose brain basically went coo coo on him after taking these statin drugs. Statin drugs make billions of dollars a year for companies and this Big Fat Lie one day will come out. Hopefully this video is up long enough for people to say, "See that guy was right. These drugs are a joke." So if you're worried about heart disease, keep your blood pressure down, your weight down, and keep your bowel function working. One of my teachers used to say, "People need to keep their mouths shut and their bowels open 'cause it's going to prolong their lives." Hope you got something out of this video.

Red Yeast Rice is a normal item Now with clinically-confirmed Phytosterols for improved efficacy and greater results. Marine Phytoplankton assists absorb nutrients This review is from: Weider Red Yeast Rice Plus with Phytosterols 1200 mg per 2 Tablets -- 180 Tablets (Health and Beauty) On a recommendation from doctor, I started taking this supplement. She recommended both the Red Yeast Rice and the Phytosterols so I loved getting them both together. She gave me 6 months to lower my numbers or she wanted to put me on meds. I just had a new test done this week. My cholesterol went from 263 to 196 -- in the normal range! . My triglycerides went from 277 to 173 -- still slightly higher but a drop of over 100 points. My HDL dropped and the LDL increased. I still have more HDL (the bad stuff) than I should, but my cholesterol/HDL ration is on the edge of normal range at 5. While I've also been trying to eat better, I ate pretty healthy before so only minor changes to the diet. I have not dropped any major weight in that time so the only major change was these pills. I will continue to take them and see if my numbers are even better in another 6 months! http://clickbank.tiendadesdecasa.com/

Red Yeast Rice - Better than Statins? - FORD BREWER MD MPH

FORD BREWER MD MPH PrevMedHeartRisk.com To prevent disability, heart attack, stroke, dementia - visit my Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmoEsq6a6ePXxgZeA4CVrUw?view_as=subscriber Or the PrevMed web site at https://prevmedheartrisk.com/ Red Yeast Rice has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine. It has been shown to decrease cholesterol. It includes HMG CoA reductase materials. In fact, statins were originally developed from Monacolins, the fungus used to make Red Yeast Rice. The FDA declared Monacolin products as a drug and tried to stop sale of supplements containing it. This decision went to court and was overturned by the US Court of Appeals. They actually typically contain 10-20 mg of monacolins. Mevachor, made by Merck from Red Yeast Rice, contains 20-80 mg of monacolins. So you're taking the same thing, but usually at a lower dose. Side effects are the same: liver function problems, muscle breakdown ( sometimes at a lethal level known as rhabdomyolisis.) I prefer to use better statins at far lower doses. And I don't appreciate the patent formula product salesmen all of the web saying, "my product, XXX, is safer, more effective, and contains the exact right combination..... blah, blah, blah" About Dr. Brewer - Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. Red yeast rice is also known as: red rice koji, akakoji, red fermented rice, red kojic rice or anka- does red rice yeast really work for lowering cholesterol, ldl and triglycerides? Red yeast rice is a substance extracted from rice that has been fermented with a special type of yeast called Monascus Purpureus. It has been found to significantly lower total and 'bad' LDL cholesterol, in addition to raising levels of 'good cholesterol' (HDL). One of the natural key ingredients in red yeast rice is called Monacolin K. Now this is identical to the active ingredient of the cholesterol-lowering statin drug Mevacor (lovaststin), but the difference is, unlike its pharma- counterpart, it doesn't come with a long list of harmful side effects. There are caveats when taking Red rice yeast products, i.e it should NOT be taken during pregnancy and for those taking prescribed statin drugs or those with existing liver disease, kidney disease, or allergies to fungus or yeast. Beware of Red Yeast Rice Supplements! (You won't know which ones can or cannot lower cholesterol.)

Red Yeast Rice is a supplement you can buy in your local market that contains a natural source of statin, made from rice that is fermented by yeast which creates a statin. Your doctor might have prescribed a statin to help lower your cholesterol or decrease your risk of heart disease. But the amount of statin in each pill of Red Yeast Rice is inconsistent, so be careful about relying on it. And don't forget, SMART EATING is the best way to prevent heart disease. . . Red Yeast Rice The Truth Behind This Controversial Cholesterol Lowering Supplement

15:38
Red Yeast Rice The Truth Behind This Controversial Cholesterol-Lowering Supplement. The most well-known of red yeast rice benefits is by far its potential to lower cholesterol. Many people with high cholesterol turn to red yeast rice supplements to avoid the dangers of statins. These cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins have been linked with some really concerning side effects, including memory loss, liver damage, muscle pain, high blood sugar, and even development of type 2 diabetes. (1) Scientific studies have demonstrated that supplementing with red yeast rice can lower overall as well as LDL cholesterol, aka “bad cholesterol.” (2) According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, benefits of red yeast rice also include improvements in circulation and digestion. Red yeast rice supplements are extremely popular so let’s take a look at the possible benefits as well as the controversy surrounding this natural over-the-counter remedy. What Is Red Yeast Rice?. So what is red yeast rice? Sometimes called RYR for short, red yeast rice is created by fermenting a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus with rice. Once the rice is combined with the fermenting yeast, the resulting red yeast rice is bright reddish purple in color. Red yeast rice extract (RYRE) is used to make a red yeast rice supplement. So what makes RYR possibly beneficial to health concerns like high cholesterol? The interesting thing is that it has naturally occurring chemical called monacolins, which block the production of cholesterol. One of these monacolins sometimes found in RYR supplements, called monacolin K, has been controversial because this chemical is said to be an active statin-like compound with the same chemical makeup as popularly prescribed statins like lovastatin and mevinolin. (3) This is a concern because we know the potential dangers of statins include muscle pain and weakness, neuropathy, heart failure, dizziness, cognitive impairment, cancer, pancreatic rot and depression. Experts aren’t clear on whether RYR successfully lowers cholesterol because it contains monacolins or because of its naturally occurring plant compounds like phytosterols and isoflavones as well as its unsaturated fatty acid content. Some researchers believe that since the monacolin in red yeast rice is less than what is found in prescription statins these other substances must also play a role in red yeast rice’s ability to decrease cholesterol. (4) In 1998, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began to regulate manufactures of RYR supplements and said that supplements containing monacolin K are considered drugs rather than dietary supplements. Since that time, the FDA has taken legal action against companies making red yeast rice supplements with greater than trace amounts of monacolin K. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, “Despite the FDA actions, some red yeast rice products currently on the market in the United States may contain monacolin K. (Some products tested as recently as 2011 have been found to contain it in substantial amounts.) Other products may contain little or none of this component.” (5) I’ll talk more about choosing the best RYR supplements, but first, let’s talk about the possible health benefits. 5 Health Benefits of Red Yeast Rice. 1. Help for High Cholesterol. Red yeast rice supplements are most often taken to naturally lower hyperlipidemia or high cholesterol. The red yeast (Monascus purpureus) used to make RYR has been shown to stop the action of an enzyme in the human body that helps form cholesterol. There have been a lot of studies showing the positive effects of red yeast rice extract on cholesterol. Another study published in the European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation evaluated the effects of red yeast rice (also called Went rice) on 79 patients with high cholesterol between 23 and 65 years of age. These patients took either 600 milligrams of red yeast rice or a placebo two times per day for a total of eight weeks. The study results revealed that the subjects who took the RYR showed “significantly greater reduction” in LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels as well as total cholesterol. Here are the top foods and nutrients that can naturally lower cholesterol: Omega-3 fats – Foods high in omega-3 fats can help increase HDL cholesterol and reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. Foods high in soluble fiber – Soluble fiber binds cholesterol in the digestive system causing it to be excreted by the body. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, sprouted nuts and seeds and other fiber rich foods. Olive oil – Helps raise HDL cholesterol. Garlic and onions – These two cholesterol reducing foods help lower LDL cholesterol because of their sulfur containing compounds which help cleanse the arteries. Herbs – Add a variety of spices such as basil, rosemary and turmeric to your food which contain antioxidants that are cardio-protective and help lower cholesterol naturally. Foods that Raise Cholesterol Avoid these bad cholesterol foods at all costs: Sugar and refined carbohydrates – Both stimulate the liver to produce more cholesterol and increase inflammation. Alcohol – Also stimulates the liver to produce more cholesterol, increasing cholesterol levels and inflammation. A glass of red wine per day may be cardioprotective, but anything more than that will increase your cholesterol. Hydrogenated fats – Vegetable oils are pro-inflammatory and may increase cholesterol. Caffeine – Too much caffeine can increase cholesterol. Limit coffee or tea to no more than 1-2 cups per day. Trans fats – Increases LDL cholesterol, inflammation, and risk of cardiovascular disease. Top 5 Cholesterol Lowering Natural Remedies Taking the right supplements and natural remedies can help lower cholesterol levels if combined with a healthy diet. #1 Fish Oil (1,000mg – 2,000 mg daily) EPA and DHA (omega-3 fats) found in fish oil help reduce overall cholesterol levels. #2 CoQ10 (200-300 mg daily) If you are on cholesterol lowering medications, take CoQ10 daily because these medications decrease levels of this important enzyme. #3 Niacin (1,500 mg daily) Niacin (vitamin B3) reduces LDL cholesterol by 25% and increases good cholesterol by 35% #4 Red Yeast Rice (1200 mg 2x daily) Reduces cholesterol by up to 32%. Take with CoQ10 to prevent deficiency. #5 Garlic (500 mg daily) Increases HDL cholesterol and lowers total cholesterol.

Let's talk about way to lower cholesterol naturally without drugs. 🎥 You HAVE to watch our latest video! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?playnext=1&list=UUu9UOdsWTNRopIP-RSWuEDQ 🎥 About 1 years ago, my doctor told me that I had high cholesterol. I did not want to get on pharmaceutical drugs to lower cholesterol, so my doctor and I decided to try to get my LDL down with supplements and diet. Through some dietary changes and supplements I was able to effectively lower my high cholesterol naturally. My doctor told me to limit my red meat intake including pork, ground beef, and anything that walks on 4 legs, and to eat more of things that walk on 2 legs (chicken, turkey, etc) and fish. Also he put me on Red Yeast Rice at 1200mg to take once daily. After getting home, I read my nutritionally healing book and also added Niacin and Apple Pectin to my supplements. Also in my diet change, I added A LOT of raw fruits and vegetables. I eat a handful of tomatoes every morning with some apple, and I also eat a handful of walnuts along with some cereal with almond milk (cow's milk has a lot of fat in it). I want to stay healthy so that I can be with my wife and kids longer because I want to travel the world with them more. Hopefully I can get my cholesterol even more under control. http://naturalhealthsherpa.com/red-yeast-rice-extract-dosage-side-effects-benefits-reviews/521398--Have you been told you have high cholesterol? Welcome to the club. With one in six American adults diagnosed with high total cholesterol, you're not alone.1 If you're like many of these people, your doctor probably briefly mentioned some dietary changes, handed you a prescription for statin drugs, and sent you on your way. And if you've heard about all the potential side effects of statins -- from muscle aches, to depletion of coenzyme Q10, to liver toxicity -- it's no wonder you're on the search for a natural alternative. During this search, you likely came across one intriguing food that has been shown to lower high total and LDL cholesterol about as well as prescription statin drugs. In fact, it is so effective that it was banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But just because it is natural, does that mean it is the right alternative?

Tips on Lowering Cholesterol

04:31
As someone who genetically has high cholesterol I understand how frustrating it is to be at risk for a chronic disease. That's why I decided to make it a priority to actively work on lowering my cholesterol and I'd like to share some tips that I've done that have been successful. The hardest part is learning what to do and setting up a game plan. Follow the link below to see what I did and what you can do too. Once you have your plan in place all you have to do is act on it. Here are some of the successful things that I have done to lower my cholesterol: Work out: - it's critical to workout at least 4 times/week, with at least 3 of them being cardio intensive for at least 30 minutes each time. Activities such as running, walking, bike riding, rowing, swimming, etc will do wonders for you. The key here is that you have to make this a priority and follow through. It's also very important to do some sort of strenth training (can be with weights, or pushups, bands, etc) at least 2 times/week. Food: - If you're like me and you have high cholesterol then you have to watch what you eat. You have to cut down on fatty foods such as cheese, fried foods, fatty meats, etc which isn't nearly as difficult as it seems. Eating low-fat cheese & yogurt is ok and so is eating a lean meat such as a small filet mignon. The key here is to not eat these foods every day. I've found that hummus is great on almost anything and it's extremely healthy, plus it takes the place of mayo and cheese on my sandwhiches. - Eat veggie burgers for lunch, they're easy to prepare and when you add hummus (and hot sauce!) they taste great. I prefer Dr. Praeger's burgers and literally eat one of those every day. I also try to limit my carb intake so I only use one piece of bread. Supplements: - If you're planning on using natural products such as herbs and other supplements it's very important to first check with your doctor before doing so. After speaking with my doctor I decided to take Red Yeast Rice which is one of the natural building blocks in cholesterol-fighting medicines such as Lipitor. I've had huge success with Red Yeast Rice but like other medicines and supplements it can irritate your liver. So I tend to go on and off of it every few months or so. I also take Co-enzayme Q or CoQ because that gets depleted when taking the Red Yeast Rice. I hope this helps and I'll make sure I update this blog as I come across even more techniques that work.
