If you have advanced adrenal fatigue most patients do better on adrenal glandulars. For more mild disease consider using adrenal adaptogens. If your cortisol is elevated consider using phosphatidylserine. 3. Zinc - Low levels of zinc can cause issues with your skin and issue with hair growth. Adding zinc boosts immune function, T4 to T3 conversion and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Make sure to supplement with zinc bound to picolinic acid. 4. Iron - This is what I consider a "Goldilocks" nutrient in that you don't want TOO much or TOO little. Unfortunately, most doctors look for iron deficiency anemia and don't necessarily jus treat iron deficiency unless anemia accompanies it. Use these optimal levels to supplement with iron. 5. Magnesium - Hypothyroidism alters magnesium and low levels of magnesium can lead to issues like depression, anxiety and other changes like muscle cramps or restless leg syndrome. Replace low levels with magnesium glycinate, magnesium citrate if you have constipation or magnsium threonate if you have neurological issues. 6. Selenium - This nutrient is involved in the thyroid conversion process. Not only that but supplementing has been shown to reduce TPO antibodies and boost the immune system. In addition, using iodine with selenium can help reduce negative side effects. 7. Probiotics - Up to 20% of thyroid conversion happens in the gut and inflammation can reduce this number. Hypothyroidism sets up the gut for imbalances that lead to inflammation. Using probiotics can help improve your GI function. 8. Digestive enzymes - Hypothyroidism leads to low stomach acid which can predispose patients to malabsorption of certain nutrients. Using enzymes can help digest your food, increase nutrient absorption and if taken in between meals may promote the breakdown of immune complexes. 9. Iodine - If used correctly iodine can be helpful in boosting thyroid function. The thyroid hormone is made up of iodine moieties and low levels of iodine can reduce the amount of functioning thyroid hormone in the body. Each group is discussed in relation to one of four age brackets regarding their appropriateness. All of the supplements discussed are ones that I take myself and would recommend to others. Even the pre workout supplements must undergo severe scrutiny based on the dangers that have been shown to riddle that product category for the past couple of years. I’m 48 and I’ve got all the symptoms of having low testosterone. I’ve been doing my research. My doctor says “don’t worry, this is normal”. I then read some other expert saying how I should increase it, so I can be healthier. And then I read the exact opposite from another “expert” saying that increasing it can cause health problems and even cancer. PLEASE HELP me, I’m so confused and I’m so tired of all the contradictory information - what should I do?” One of the biggest problems with aging, are hormonal imbalances. There are lots of them, but today I’m going to focus on testosterone levels - which affect BOTH men and women. Even though, it does manifest itself much more so in men because of erectile dysfunction, impotence and of course muscle loss and fat gain. So the problem is that as you age, your testosterone levels start decreasing. This starts around your mid 20’s. The decline accelerates in your 30’s and really starts to drop hard around your 40’s and beyond At this point, most guys really DO need to increase their testosterone back to it’s youthful levels, so they can look and feel younger again. Not to mention, low testosterone levels causes many health problems and diseases -- such as heart disease high cholesterol and blood pressure Poor blood blood flow and circulation diabetes and high blood sugar mental decline and memory loss Depression, anxiety and yes, even CANCER! So again, the goal is to increase your testosterone levels, to their higher, youthful levels. Your Testosterone Boosting Options And to do this, you can either take prescription testosterone “exogenously”, from the outside… such as testosterone injections or creams containing the drug “testosterone”. Or you can do it naturally, “endogenously”, from within… By taking specific herbs, vitamins and minerals. And of course, improving your lifestyle as well. The REAL Problem! Now, the problem with increasing your testosterone is that as you age, your body starts to convert the testosterone to more “anti-testosterone” hormones that LOWER your testosterone. So, let’s say you try to increase your testosterone with a drug (exogenously) or supplements (endogenously). Your body initially and TEMPORARILY increases your testosterone. Which is great. But soon after, it all drops again back to lower levels because your body quickly does 3 things: [1] It lowers testosterone by converting it to more female hormones, such as estrogen. This causes fat again, depression and “man” boobs. [2] It also lowers testosterone by converting it to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) - this accelerates balding, extra body hair and prostate problems. [3] Finally, there’s an increase in stress and adrenal hormones, such as cortisol. And each of these 3 “conversions”, further lowers the testosterone back to “low” levels again. So, not only are back to having “low” testosterone again like you originally did. But now you have an even BIGGER problem -- HIGH estrogen, DHT and stress hormones!!! THIS is now the reason you are at a higher risk for cancer and various diseases. So the solution is that you need to REDUCE the conversion to these 3 “negative” hormones. You don’t want to block them completely because they are needed and have important roles. You just want to “lower” them. The real problem is that 99% of doctor’s don’t do this and don’t know how to do this and the truth is, they don’t really even care because it’s very complicated. If taking testosterone injections, you’d have to take drugs that also inhibit estrogen, DHT and cortisol. Not only does this get very expensive, all of these drugs have their own problems and negative side-effects. You can also take supplements that do this - the benefit is, no negative side-effects. Unfortunately, it can get complicated and very expensive because you’ll need to take like 6-8 different herbs and minerals to reduce these “negative aging” hormones. ========================================­ Thank you for watching. Most fatigue problems and adrenal insufficiency come from issues with the adrenal glands. About 80% of the population deals with this common problem. There are several warning signs that indicate you may have adrenal fatigue. If you struggle with fatigue, are stressed, anxious, have trouble with concentration, poor memory, thyroid issues, or gained mysterious weight, you may have adrenal fatigue. There are three steps you will want to take to get rid of adrenal fatigue for good. The first starts with your diet. Foods to get out of your diet are caffeine, sugar, and hydrogenated oils. Solidification of the Honey Take a look at the bottle and see what the honey inside of it looks like. Overtime, all honey will crystallize into something looking like granulated sugar. If it is crystallized in the store, this is pure honey. If it is liquid, you could wait to see if it solidifies. Putting it in the refrigerator will speed up that process. If your honey never turns into crystals, then it is likely that you do not have pure honey on your hands. 2. Read the Label Before you purchase any products, you should always learn to read labels. Make sure that the ingredient list of the honey does not contain high-fructose corn syrup or glucose. These are two substances that are usually added to honey that keep it from solidifying. Companies also add this to the honey so that they get more honey out of their batch. 3. Test It There are other ways to test to see if your honey is pure: Mix some honey with water, then add four or five drops of vinegar. If the liquid turns foamy, that is not pure honey. Use a small piece of old, stale bread and put it in honey. Leave it in for ten minutes and then pull it out of the honey. If the bread is still hard, then you have pure honey. If the honey has added water, the bread will be soggy. You can also use iodine to identify impure honey. Just mix honey, water and a few drops of iodine. If the mixture turns blue, then the honey has some sort of added flour or starch in it.
