Gastroesophageal Reflux in Cats / Disease in Cat.

04:41
The uncontrollable reverse flow of gastric or intestinal fluids into the tube connecting the throat and the stomach (esophagus) is medically referred to as gastroesophageal reflux. This may be due to a brief relaxation of the muscular opening at the base of the esophagus (referred to as the sphincter), as well as chronic vomiting. Gastroesophageal reflux is fairly common in cats, and may occur at any age, although younger cats are at greater risk. Gastric stomach acids, pepsin, bile salts, and other components of the gastrointestinal juices cause damage to the protective mucus lining the esophagus. This can result in inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis).

How to Deal with Cat Vomit | Cat Care

But, the truth is, if your cat is vomiting frequently it's actually a problem and you shouldn't just blame it on hairballs (even though a lot of times there's hair in the vomit). The likely hood that something else is going on is actually pretty good. So, if your cat is vomiting more than once or twice a month, you should definitely address this with your veterinarian. It can be scary when you see a cat vomit if you've never seen in before but you usually they'll be just fine; just leave them alone so they can vomit and be done with it. Then, definitely don't scold your cat! Cats don't vomit because they're angry with you; they don't know that it's a pain to clean the floor or that your cashmere sweater was expensive. Just take it out of the way and clean it appropriately. Now, things to think about for why your cat might vomit are that your cat might have a dietary problem. Many cats vomit simply because they don't tolerate the food that you're feeding them. There are many different prescription and non-prescription diets made for a cat like that. So, make sure to talk with your veterinarian about the options. Other cats may vomit because they have inflammation in their stomach or in their intestines. This is something that can be diagnosed with your veterinarian and treated appropriately. In addition, some cats vomit because they have parasites. So, if you go to your veterinarian with a cat that's vomiting, it's really common for them to recommend a food trial of something that's not likely to cause troubles. As well, is an anti-parasitic medication. This helps treat for any parasites that might be present and causing your cat to have an upset stomach. If you do need to do further diagnostics, they may include ultrasounds or X-rays, or even what's called an endoscopy. During an endoscopy they actually send a tiny camera down into your cat's stomach and intestines and usually they take tiny tissue samples and send them to a lap to be evaluated for specific types in inflammation. So, if your cat's vomiting, don't blow it off. Make sure to talk with your veterinarian; vomiting chronically is just not comfortable for them and can definitely cause or be a sign of further problems.

Jorgensen Pet Piller

02:10
This inexpensive ($6) device makes it easier to give pills to your cat. In this video I give my Dad's cat 1/4 tablet famotidine (Pepsid AC), which reduces the stomach acid from his kidney disease. This increases his appetite so he will eat more. The constipation (that I give pumpkin for) is caused by the kidney disease as well. The body is trying to conserve moisture. But if the cat can‘t go they will stop eating. You need to get the pill right in the middle toward the throat else the cat will chew or spit it out. Takes practice.

Cats Throwing up? Try This Neat Low-Cost Solution!

01:39
My two cats used to throw up all over the place, usually right after eating. I was going through bag after bag of cat foot, until I figured out it was my city water that they couldn't stomach. Now, I buy them inexpensive spring water at the store, which they CAN tolerate. Now instead of them throwing up daily, as soon as they'd eaten, now it's just once or twice a month. That's my female calico, Rotten, in the video, helping me demonstrate. At the time of recording, she is a 12-year-old "kitten". By that I mean, at her age, she still is as playful and bouncy as a juvenile a year old.

Here are a few tricks to help the medicine go down! Step 1: Make dog sit Make your dog sit. Tip Never call a dog to you in order to give her medicine. You don't want her to associate being called with being dosed! Always seek her out yourself. Step 2: Pry open mouth Use one hand to pry your dog's mouth open. With your other hand, pop the pill way back into her mouth. Make sure the pill goes behind the back of her tongue. Tip A second person to help may come in handy if your dog is especially large or wriggly. Step 3: Hold mouth closed With one hand, hold the dog's mouth closed, snout pointing up, while gently rubbing her throat with your other hand. Step 4: Wait for swallow Once the dog swallows and licks her lips, you can be sure that the pill is safely down. Tip Stay nearby until you know the pill's been swallowed. Plenty of dogs are adept at concealing their meds and spitting them out later. Step 5: Check with vet If you're having difficulty, check with your vet to see if it's safe to give your dog a pill concealed in food and, if so, try hiding the medicine in something soft like cheese, cream cheese, or peanut butter. Let the dog lick your fingers after you feed her the pill—that will ensure she swallows. Tip Be sure to tell your vet what food you might try—some foods interact badly with certain medications. Step 6: Crush pill If your dog doesn't fall for the pill-in-the-food trick, crush the pill, mix it with a little sugar water, and use a baby syringe to squirt the liquid into the dog's mouth. Step 7: Try pill gun Still not working? Try a pill gun (available from your vet or local pet store) to propel the pill down the dog's throat. Step 8: Give a treat When the pill is all gone, praise your dog, pat her, and give her a nice treat to take away the taste! Did You Know? Blowing on a dog's nose will encourage it to swallow.

Is this a dog with acid reflux ? UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED ALMOST 100%

02:49
Meet my little guy Cj. This video was originally posted when I was searching for a diagnosis and answers as to how to help him. I discussed Cj’s “symptoms” that you see in the video with 7 different vets and got nowhere. Watching him go through what you see him doing in the video was heartbreaking for me and not finding answers for so long (1 ½ years) was frustrating, stressful and difficult for both of us. Since then, we have come a long way and I have learned so much about the body. Why it breaks down, why we get sick, why we are diagnosed with so called disEASE’s and how it is indeed possible to regenerate the body’s cells and organs no matter how old we are, no matter what genetics we came with and no matter what the pain or symptom is. Since posting this video, Cj’s “symptoms” that you see in the video are just about gone and his health has improved to where we can almost say that he is 100% “cured.” What you see him doing in this video is so much more than just acid reflux. The body works as a whole and the body’s 1st line of defense against disEASE is the digestive tract. The 2nd line of defense against disEASE is the liver and the 3rd line of defense is the endocrine glands. My passion now has become to teach as many others out there how simple it to restore health back into the body and how the body will heal itself if given the proper tools to do so. My two mentors/health wizards have 30+ years of experience and knowledge with working with food as medicine. Damage from Helicobacter pylori

04:23
http://www.boweldiseases.net 26 1st 4 slides Hello, welcome to this video explaining the damage Helicobacter pylori can cause. As many symptoms as there can be, it is important to understand that helicobacter pylori bacteria causes ulcers and inflammation of the stomach lining. This bacterial infection can have a wide range of symptoms. The same is true for Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome, Candida Yeast Infections, and a host of other digestive problems. Many times, all of these are interconnected. 8 Ulcers cause a burning pain in the stomach or abdominal region. This is due to this bacteria degrading the mucous layer which protects the stomach lining allowing stomach acid to burn the stomach lining. 10 Pain is often made worse when the concentration of acid in the stomach is stronger. This occurs after eating. Nighttime pain is also common. 10 Helicobacter pylori often is associated with poor appetite, being hungry soon after eating, and weight loss. See how it gets confusing already? 7 Helicobacter pylori is also associated with heartburn, belching, farting, nausea, and vomiting. In addition it can lead to blood in the stool. These symptoms also describe many digestive problems that can not be quantitatively identified. Medical professionals often advise medications which mask the symptoms. Or we self medicate using the wide variety of choices we have at the pharmacies. 9 Depression and worry can set in after not being able to rid yourself of these symptoms. Stress and worry always makes conditions worse. We need confidence we can get better in order to heal. 9 There are many ways to decrease the pain and treat the symptoms with antacids, milk, or the many medications available. These do not in any way cure the ulcer. The condition usually gets worse. They may allow healing for a while making us think they are the answer. Getting rid of the bacterial infection is the only sure way. 15 Helicobacter pylori exploits the protective mucous layer of the stomach lining. It uses the stomach's own mucous layer as its protection. It then infects deep into the stomach lining causing acid to burn through to the muscles and possibly all the way through the lining. 12.5 2 slides When our immune system determines we are infected with Helicobacter pylori, it produces antibodies which attacks the infection. Our killer T-Cells which protect us also try to eliminate the infection. The bacterial population, plus all of the body's protective mechanisms cause a large number of cells to accumulate in the stomach lining. This cause inflammation in the stomach lining due to all the cells battling for survival or elimination. 5 Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach lining. 5 Colitis, is inflammation of the colon, usually the large intestine. 5 Crohn's is continual inflammation of any part of the digestive system. Ulcerative Colitis is inflammation of the large intestine and rectum. 9 Helicobacter pylori directly causes ulcers by degrading eh mucous layer of the stomach lining allowing acid to burn through the lining. 20 Helicobacter pylori can cause ulcers. This can lead to other problems. Our bodies get out of sync. We treat the problems with medications that do not cure the infection. Our bodies get more confused. We end up with bowel syndromes, gastritis, and lifestyle limitations. This bacteria is treatable which you can learn about in one of our other digestion Helicobacter Pylori Bacteria video. Thank you for watching this video. We made this video because this bacterial infection is serious and infects half the world's population. It is often misdiagnosed.

McGillicutty Demonstrating Sit, Down, and Stay

Yep. We are doing our homework for Tuesday's class. Mr. Randy at Alpha K9 has been helping us too. I like to clown in class, and Mom says it is that little lepruchon coming out in me (she thinks all Irish Terriers have that in them). Mr. Randy says GTA (whatever that means). I just love the attention that I get when Mom says "Stand" and I roll on my back and show my belly and smile at all the folks. On a different note, I had tummy troubles last night. Mom was up at 2:08 am until 4:00 am with me. I didn't have any issues with vomiting or diarrhea, but just these LOUD sounds coming from my belly. They were so loud that it would make me jump up and off the bed. Mom took me for an hour walk (ahhh...an early morning stroll) and gave me Pepcid and simethicone. Then, she rubbed my belly until I felt better. I have the BEST Mom ever!
