Advanced Teaching Methods PE - Emily W

16:46
Cooperative learning teaching style - cooperative learning activity "Toxic River". The students are split into small groups and are given the same equipment and need to come up with a plan on how to make it across the toxic river without touching the river (gym floor). They must work together in order for all group members to make it across and back with all of the equipment as well. If a student does touch the river, the task starts over for that group. The National Standards are met in this activity because the students are demonstrating basic movement patterns (flexibility) and are using concepts, strategies and tactics in order to successfully complete the task. The students are also demonstrating responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others while working together in small groups during the activity. This cooperative learning activity allows the students to display enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.

Introducing Physical Education Teachers to the Teaching Games for Understanding Model

01:37
During a period of eight weeks, the PE teachers engaged in a spiral process of studying, planning, teaching, observing and reflecting according to the principles of the TGfU model. By using a grounded theory approach, deductive data analysis was conducted on videotaped lesson annotations and teacher reflective journals in order to identify emerging themes concerning PE teachers' views regarding the implementation of the program. From the results, it was found that PE teachers value practically coherent learning opportunities, which focus on content sharing and pedagogy reflection. The greatest challenge that they experienced was their need for continuous support throughout the process. The major conclusion drawn from this study was that the TGfU model can be a rewarding standpoint for the design of high quality PE professional learning programs, if program designers offer an optimal mix of learning opportunities and experiences, ones that address the needs of PE teachers within their working conditions and contexts. Conquering Your First Year as a New PE Teacher

02:22
https://ssww.teachable.com/p/new-peteachers Target Audience: This course has been designed for new physical education teachers. This means physical education teachers coming straight from an undergraduate program and those transitioning into the role of a physical education teacher will benefit greatly from this course. Teachers who started their position in the middle of a school year and long-term substitutes covering physical education classes will also benefit from this course. Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is to help new physical education teachers understand what their first year of teaching may look like so that they not only survive but thrive. Students will also examine current practices, lesson plans, and class setups that will help them successfully navigate their first year of teaching. Course Description: Being a first-year teacher can be a scary prospect. One can learn all the theories available about teaching, practice teaching on classmates, and put theory into action in the safety of a student teaching environment. But nothing can prepare a new physical educator for the moment when they actually stand in front of students, manage student behavior, work with administrators of all stripes, and interact with parents in multiple situations. Your first year will be overwhelming and exhausting at times. Plus, there is paperwork, grading, equipment, and many other little intricacies to consider that a first-year teacher can only learn to manage through experience. This course is designed to help new physical educators navigate the world of a new school and experience a smoother and more successful first year. This is accomplished by presenting detailed survival tips on many topics of concern expressed by new physical educators entering the teaching arena and first-year teachers finishing their inaugural year. This course provides first-year physical educators with a comprehensive amount of information that they won’t find just anywhere. This includes invaluable insights and tips on how to behave in a professional teaching environment, how to effectively manage the classroom, how to prevent and manage discipline problems, and how to interact with school staff and the community. In addition, this course offers lesson planning ideas for your first day and week of teaching and challenges students to create their own gym class setup as part of a cumulative project. Students will walk away with a plan and a feeling of ultimate preparedness for their first year as a physical education teacher. Course Goals: On completion of this course, students will be able to: Understand various factors that affect the first year for a physical educator Identify what it means to be a professional twenty-first-century educator Identify practical skills needed to manage a classroom Identify ways to prevent, manage, and solve classroom problems Understand and explain how to effectively collaborate with others in the school and community Design lesson plans for the first day and week of teaching Design a describe a highly effective gym class setup Standards: This course addresses the following standards: Source: SHAPE America National Standards for K-12 Physical Education (2016). Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance. Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Standard 5 - The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction. Being a first-year physical education teacher means that you are touching base with all aspects of physical education standards. This is because the course discusses material that directly affects every aspect of teaching and learning, which naturally involves all the national standards. Take the children to Jesus

04:04
Our children, our little ones, are our responsibility and we have to bring them up correctly. We have to teach them life skills and we have to teach them the right way. There's only one right way and one way to have eternal life and that is Jesus Christ. If we do not take our children to Jesus then we take them to hell. Jesus said:"Bring the little ones to Me and do not hinder them because to such belong the kingdom of heaven." We have to take our children to Jesus, not to church, or to Sunday School. We have to take them to Jesus. We have to teach them to follow and obey Jesus Christ. If we ourselves do not know Jesus and if we are not following Him then we ourselves are on our way to hell. Jesus said that anyone who causes such a little one to stumble, it will be better for him that a millstone be tied around his neck and he be thrown in the bottom of the sea. It is our responsibility to teach our children to fear Jesus, to obey Him. We must teach them to pray, to trust in Jesus. We have to do it in our homes. They must see from our example how to follow Jesus Christ because children follow in the footsteps of their parents. If we guide them the wrong way we will give account to God for what we have done. We have to teach them about Jesus. We have to teach them to pray, teach them to trust in Jesus, they must see from our lives that we know Jesus and that Jesus Christ is alive. If we do not teach our children, then the world will, the system will, the schools will, and they will take them to hell with them. Are we teaching our children to follow Jesus Christ or are we following after the rest of the world, bringing the Xbox and the video games and the TVs and all of the wicked influences into our homes? Do we take them to Jesus, or to it take them to the game? Do we take them to worldly activities, sinful activities? Do we take them to places where they should not be going? Where are they following our footsteps? Are they following our example of knowing and following Jesus Christ or are we ourselves leading our children to hell? Our children are our responsibility. We will give a count to Jesus for our children for what we have taught them, whether we've taught them to know Him, the truth the life and the way, or whether we allowed them to slip away and go with the rest of the world into the depths of damnation. Are we taking our children to Jesus? May Jesus bless you. WITNESS FOR JESUS! Visit me at: http://www.finalcall07.com email: finalcall07@gmail.com

P.E. teacher Teacher of the Year,Teaching is the second career for...

01:16
Physical education teachers have an important job — not only are P.E. teachers responsible for the physical well-being of students, P.E. teachers also play a vital role in students’ educational prowess. Physical Education Teacher: Job Description, Salary P.E. teachers help students focus their bodies and minds. Numerous studies on early childhood development and adult cognitive retention levels demonstrate that engaging in physical activities throughout the day increases oxygen to the brain and regulates hormones, which improves productivity and learning. In other words, daily cardiovascular exercise strengthens the heart muscle, increases alertness, reduces stress, and helps students focus. In addition to helping students stay mentally fit, physical education teachers raise the bar for making healthy choices throughout life — from elementary school into adulthood. Physical education teachers are vital to K-12 learning because they contribute to the overall improvement of education across America, which ultimately leads to higher statewide test scores. Although their roles in elementary schools are somewhat limited, physical education teachers help students at the middle and high school levels stay fit, set and accomplish goals and build character. Our guide offers insights into the required education, salary and job outlook of physical education teachers. Browse through the content or use these links to should demonstrate leadership skills that motivate students to embrace exercise regimens, set individual goals and participate in team sports. With a range of popular aerobics programs — from modern dance, yoga and CrossFit to rigorous walking, martial arts and kinetics — there are lots of activities from which physical education teachers can choose beyond traditional P.E. classes. A bachelor’s degree — preferably in physical education, kinesiology or physiology, physical therapy or nutrition and health — is a minimum education requirement for physical education teachers at the middle and high school levels. A state-issued teaching certificate or license is also required. However, some private schools do not specify a teaching credential as a job prerequisite. Some states require a master’s degree for middle and high school teachers. Most postsecondary schools require at least a master’s degree to teach physical education. For people who enjoy these subjects, a career as a physical education teacher offers an excellent opportunity to work with students to improve balance and coordination skills, nutrition programs and weight control, and advance their interest in individual and team sports. Physical education teacher job description Physical education teachers should be well-grounded in classroom management and school procedures. In addition to helping students exercise, they may teach physiology and nutrition and are expected to help advance core standards for language arts and mathematics. Physical education classes are a good platform for engaging students in reading, writing and verbal communications, and improving math skills. Assignments and quizzes that focus on sports history, performance statistics and scorekeeping are good vehicles to improve core curriculum. Full-time teachers typically work eight- to nine-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, many P.E. teachers also coach after-school sports teams, which requires flexible working hours. Most public and some private school teachers have summers off, along with various holidays and winter breaks that generally run from two to three weeks. Physical education teachers also: Prepare assignments, such as quizzes on the history of a given sport, athletic field and court dimensions, scoring and rules Grade tests, essays and reports based on printed and online research about a given sport, human physiology, health and nutrition Meet with physical education colleagues, school leaders, nurses and counselors to coordinate lessons and improve students’ fitness and health goals Hold one-on-one conferences with students to keep them engaged in P.E. activities and on track to meet their individual performance and fitness goals Meet with parents or guardians to discuss students’ progress, remedial issues and behavior problems and help students achieve their fitness goals Who makes good physical education teachers? Physical education teachers should have stable dispositions in motivating teenagers to exercise and engage in athletic activities. They need to strike a balance by encouraging students through their own excitement for sports and exercise programs while establishing procedures that promote student cooperation. Because some students attempt to sidetrack others through antics, outbursts and other disruptive techniques, students sometimes resist P.E. activities. Consequently, physical education teachers must establish routine procedures to keep classes on track. Physical education teachers

Teaching ESL in Spain A Day in the Life at Zalima

02:01
Apply now through http://www.meddeas.com/teaching-english-abroad/ "A day in the life at Zalima" tells the story of a typical teaching- ESL-day as the native English language assistant at my school. Zalima is an educational institution situated in Córdoba, in Andalusia, that offers Bachillerato and a variety of Vocational Training Courses. It thus encompasses a wide range of student needs and abilities, as well as opportunities for creativity teaching ESL classes. In fact, the particular nature of my school is the main reason why I wished to tell this story. How I Ended Up Teaching ESL: A Little Presentation I am a recent Modern Languages graduate from the University of Southampton, UK, and a born and bred Londoner. Following an enriching experience as a Language Assistant in Almeria on my year abroad, I decided it was time to come back to Spain after graduating. Therefore I started investigating ESL teaching programmes in Spain. I am very keen on a career in education and foreign language teaching in particular. I started my placement with Meddeas in January 2017, and have been thoroughly enjoying my experience at Zalima ever since. The English Native at Zalima Teaching ESL Students Zalima is a semi-private educational institution situated in the historic Jewish Quarter of Córdoba, in Andalusia, in the south of Spain. It offers both Bachillerato, the British equivalent of Sixth Form and A Levels, as well as a wide range of Vocational Training courses, such as Finance and Administration, Early Years Education, and so on. My Tasks while I Teach ESL Abroad From the start, I have been teaching ESL to whole groups. I’ve also designed lesson plans and objectives with the guidance of the class teacher; focusing on various skills in language learning, including oral abilities, encouraging further exposure to the English-speaking world, and working to generally motivate students. In terms of Bachillerato, I have not only been in English classes but also Philosophy, Physical Education, and ICT, which has allowed for exciting opportunities for the use of the English language. In English, I have had the opportunity to design my own ESL lesson plans and activities; as well as use online resources, to focus on a variety of competencies, particularly grammatical ones, as well as spoken production and interaction, and therefore complement their learning with the main teacher. How to Teach ESL in Specific Subjects (Philosophy, P.E., ICT, Finance, etc.) Philosophy enhances the acquisition of vocabulary and spoken interaction, due to the thought-provoking and argumentative nature of the subject. Not only have we had the opportunity to debate, present arguments, and create projects on topics such as English speaking countries, International Woman´s Day, and the use of technologies in class, but also to discuss how to debate and give speeches. In P.E, I have also had the freedom to create lessons on the content given in the theory side of their classes, including topics such as feelings and body expression and healthy eating. As for ICT, my functions are directly related to the Erasmus + school project. We have collaborated with other schools in Europe on the topic of the value of new technologies in language learning. In these classes, I would help students with their projects and teach aspects such as journalistic language. I also worked alongside colleagues, translating documents and creating activities for the convention held at our school in March. The Video about My Experience Teaching ESL in Spain As stated before, I have been teaching ESL in such a variety of courses and subjects. Thus I felt that it would be a great opportunity to try and show a day in my life in a video. The idea was to go through a day with a variety of classes and projects. In terms of artistic objectives, I can’t say that I’m very skilled in the use of cameras (!), but the idea was to use a camera angle in which the viewer could “walk in my footsteps” and see through my eyes. I hoped to make this a little more exciting and focus on certain aspects using slower and faster-paced captions, and with music that suited my geographical setting. Through the different interviews, I hoped that others would have a clearer idea of particular responsibilities I have had, covering Bachillerato and Vocational Training. Last but not least, I hoped that the section on English Breakfast would add a little humour to the video. It was an initiative I set up following a positive discussion with the director whereby colleagues and I focus on English speaking during Friday break-time. Take a glance to my teaching ESL experience in Spain and if you have any questions, write your comments below! For more information visit our blog: http://www.meddeas.com/blog/

Accountability Comes to Physical Education: Education Next looks at 25th Hour P.E.

04:31
As policymakers call on schools to help combat childhood obesity, Education Next takes a close look at an innovative P.E. class that holds students accountable for how long and how hard they work out. Students enrolled in the 25th Hour P.E. class at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia, don't break a sweat during the school day. Instead, they workout three times a week, before or after school. While the students are jogging, swimming, playing pickup basketball, going to soccer practice, or walking the dog, they wear monitors that track how long they exercise and whether their heart rates are in the target zone. Students meet with a P.E. teacher once a week to download the data from their monitor to her computer and discuss their workouts. Grades are based on how long students keep their heart rates in the target zone. For more from Education Next on the role of physical education in fighting obesity, see: "Not Your Father's PE: Obesity, Exercise, and the Role of Schools" - http://educationnext.org/not-your-fathers-pe/ and "Don't Sweat It" - http://educationnext.org/dont-sweat-it/ To comment on this video visit http://educationnext.org/accountability-comes-to-physical-education

Abdul Kalam, मेरे अध्यापक के लिए एक पाठ: Learn Hindi with subtitles - Story for Children

05:28
Kalam and Ram were best friends in school but one day a teacher separated them. A touching story about how everyone learned a lesson. Story: APJ Abdul Kalam with Arun Tiwari Story Adaptation: Ananya Parthibhan Illustrations: Deepta Nangia Music: Acoustrics (Students of AR Rahaman) Translation: Madhu B Joshi Narration: Babla Kochhar Animation: BookBox FREE Apps for iPads & iPhones: http://www.bookbox.com/ios FREE Apps for Android phones & tablets: http://www.bookbox.com/android Many more stories, languages & multiple subtitle options: http://www.bookbox.com

Clean Up Your Backyard

01:47
Clean Up Your Backyard is the first children’s book designed specifically to enhance physical education lessons and improve student learning. Teachers will love the easy to implement lesson plans that introduce overhand throwing mechanics and eye/hand accuracy. Administrators and parents alike will love that literature is integrated into PE classes providing verbal and visual cues for skills as well as increasing movement vocabulary. Most importantly, students will love the whimsical story of two delightful families making the miserable chore of cleaning up their messy backyard into a fun-filled throwing game. How it works: Step 1- Teacher reads a short fictional chapter to his/her students. Step 2- Teacher introduces the skill and the activity. Step 3- Children use their imagination to act out the game and practice the skills described in the story. What’s included: A. A short story broken up into two chapters. B. Three easy to understand and implement lesson plans that follow the storyline.. -Overhand throwing -Throwing accuracy -Personal, Social, and Environmental Responsibility C. Rubric for overhand throwing. What are the results: Intrinsically motivated children enthusiastically engaged in a highly physical activity refining their overhand throwing skills while becoming increasingly more accurate.

How to raise successful kids -- without over-parenting | Julie Lythcott-Haims

14:17
By loading kids with high expectations and micromanaging their lives at every turn, parents aren't actually helping. At least, that's how Julie Lythcott-Haims sees it. With passion and wry humor, the former Dean of Freshmen at Stanford makes the case for parents to stop defining their children's success via grades and test scores. Instead, she says, they should focus on providing the oldest idea of all: unconditional love.
