Accessed June 14, 2016. ======================================= 🌡 What Is Systolic & Diastolic Pressure & The Ideal Numbers ======================================= I talk a lot about the importance have having proper blood pressure numbers not only because I have a family history of hypertension and heart disease… But also because high blood pressure is known as the “silent killer”. There are no real symptoms to warn you. And surprisingly, ⅓ of adults over the age of 20 have high blood pressure. So the problem starts early. And the older we get, the worse the numbers become. For example, over 60% of the population over the age of 65 has high blood pressure. For women, it’s even worse because of menopause.2,3 Sadly, 70% of the population doesn’t even know they have high blood pressure, which greatly increases your risk of death by 43%, in addition to other health ailments.2,3 Now, before I give you the ideal blood pressure numbers, let’s first talk about what the numbers even mean. The top number, known as Systolic, refers to the amount of pressure in your arteries during the contraction of your heart muscle. The bottom number, called Diastolic, refers to your blood pressure when your heart muscle is between beats. Both numbers are important in determining the state of your heart health. Numbers greater than the ideal range, indicate that your heart is working too hard to pump blood to the rest of your body. This obviously puts more stress on your heart, as well as your veins, blood vessels and arteries. In fact, this puts more pressure on your brain as well! So, what’s the ideal range?... Here’s a quick chart on blood pressure levels. As you can see, anything in the red that’s over 140/90 is considered “high” blood pressure. The yellow zone is better, but still a problem. Ideal range is in the green, which is LESS than 120/80. I prefer around 110/70 or 115/75. Now, the reason I like it lower is because studies1 have found that lower than 120 mmHG Systolic (top number) caused 43% lower risk of cardiovascular death 38% lower “heart failure” 27% in less deaths 25% lower deaths from “first” heart attacks 17% lower heart attacks 11% lower strokes So lower is better, as long as you feel fine… and preferably done naturally - through specific diet, exercise and supplements. So if you want to live longer, lowering your blood pressure levels to 120/80 or lower, is a huge benefit and a necessity for total health. I would skip the drugs and try to do it naturally with diet, exercise and supplements. And this is really important if you’re over the age of 40 because lots of clinical evidence that aging is a major contributing factor to hypertension because of the change in your hormones. Like I said, this is a very important topic to me personally, because of my family history. Below this video in the description area, I’ve got two links for you to visit and you’ll discover proven, simple and easy ways of lowering your blood pressure, naturally. So make sure you take a look right now, while it’s fresh on your mind. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Please feel free to comment, like or share with your friends. You Think That 120/80 Is a Normal Blood Pressure? You Are Completely Wrong!

02:07
You Think That 120/80 Is a Normal Blood Pressure? You Are Completely Wrong! A lot of people think that 120 over 80 indicates a normal blood pressure and if the blood pressure is higher or lower than this value, the person usually consult his/her physician. However, it appears that the value that has been considered a high blood pressure until now is no longer the case. Namely, according to the ESC Association there are new guidelines according to which a normal blood pressure is 140/90. However, this doesn't apply for diabetics and elder people in who the limit is 130 over 80. Previously, people thought that they have a high blood pressure when their blood pressure is 139/89 and start taking medications. Nonetheless, since this isn't the case anymore, you shouldn't be afraid if your blood pressure has the abovementioned values because it doesn't increase your risk of stroke or heart attack. Low blood pressure is when the systolic blood pressure is less than 90 mmHg or when the diastolic one is less than 60 mmHg. If you have an extremely low blood pressure, that is, less than 80/50 mmHg or if you experience a sudden drop in blood pressure, you need to consult your physician for further tests and treatment. When undiagnosed and left untreated for a longer period of time, both high and low blood pressure can lead to numerous other health problems. Therefore, consult a doctor as soon as possible in order to establish the main reason for your blood pressure problems and then address them adequately and avoid more serious health consequences. How Blood Pressure Works Animation - Understanding Blood Pressure Measurement Monitor Readings Video

01:44
Normal blood pressure is important for proper blood flow to the body’s organs and tissues. The force of the blood on the walls of the arteries is called blood pressure. Blood pressure is measured both as the heart contracts, which is called systole, and as it relaxes, which is called diastole. Normal blood pressure is considered to be a systolic blood pressure of 115 millimeters of mercury a diastolic pressure of 70 millimeters of mercury (stated as "115 over 70"). If an individual were to have a consistent blood pressure reading of 140 over 90, he would be evaluated for having high blood pressure. If left untreated, high blood pressure can damage important organs, such as the brain and kidneys, as well as lead to a stroke. High blood pressure is a common disease in which blood flows through blood vessels (arteries) at higher than normal pressures. Measuring Blood Pressure Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. High blood pressure, sometimes called hypertension, happens when this force is too high. Health care workers check blood pressure readings the same way for children, teens, and adults. They use a gauge, stethoscope or electronic sensor, and a blood pressure cuff. With this equipment, they measure: Systolic Pressure: blood pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood Diastolic Pressure: blood pressure when the heart is at rest between beats Health care workers write blood pressure numbers with the systolic number above the diastolic number. For example: 118/76 mmHg People read "118 over 76" millimeters of mercury. Normal Blood Pressure: Normal blood pressure for adults is defined as a systolic pressure below 120 mmHg and a diastolic pressure below 80 mmHg. It is normal for blood pressures to change when you sleep, wake up, or are excited or nervous. When you are active, it is normal for your blood pressure to increase. However, once the activity stops, your blood pressure returns to your normal baseline range. Blood pressure normally rises with age and body size. Newborn babies often have very low blood pressure numbers that are considered normal for babies, while older teens have numbers similar to adults. Abnormal Blood Pressure Abnormal increases in blood pressure are defined as having blood pressures higher than 120/80 mmHg. The following table outlines and defines high blood pressure severity levels. The ranges in the table are blood pressure guides for adults who do not have any short-term serious illnesses. People with diabetes or chronic kidney disease should keep their blood pressure below 130/80 mmHg. Although blood pressure increases seen in prehypertension are less than those used to diagnose high blood pressure, prehypertension can progress to high blood pressure and should be taken seriously. Over time, consistently high blood pressure weakens and damages your blood vessels, which can lead to complications. Types of High Blood Pressure There are two main types of high blood pressure: primary and secondary high blood pressure. Primary High Blood Pressure Primary, or essential, high blood pressure is the most common type of high blood pressure. This type of high blood pressure tends to develop over years as a person ages. Secondary High Blood Pressure Secondary high blood pressure is caused by another medical condition or use of certain medicines. This type usually resolves after the cause is treated or removed. Blood pressure (BP) is the pressure exerted by circulating blood upon the walls of blood vessels. When used without further specification, "blood pressure" usually refers to the arterial pressure in the systemic circulation. It is usually measured at a person's upper arm. Blood pressure is usually expressed in terms of the systolic (maximum) pressure over diastolic (minimum) pressure and is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). It is one of the vital signs along with respiratory rate, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature. Normal resting blood pressure in an adult is approximately 120/80 mm Hg. Blood pressure varies depending on situation, activity, and disease states. It is regulated by the nervous and endocrine systems. Blood pressure that is low due to a disease state is called hypotension, and pressure that is consistently high is hypertension. Both have many causes which can range from mild to severe. Both may be of sudden onset or of long duration. Long term hypertension is a risk factor for many diseases, including kidney failure, heart disease, and stroke. Long term hypertension is more common than long term hypotension in Western countries. Long term hypertension often goes undetected because of infrequent monitoring and the absence of symptoms. Physiology: During each heartbeat, blood pressure varies between a maximum (systolic) and a minimum (diastolic) pressure. Q. What blood pressure should I have? What is normal blood pressure?

YOU THINK THAT 120/80 IS A NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE: YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG!

02:14
YOU THINK THAT 120/80 IS A NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE: YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG! Many people all around the world think that 120 over 80 is a normal blood pressure, but ESC Association issued new guidelines, according to which the normal pressure to 140 systolic (the top number in a blood pressure measurement) and 90 diastolic (bottom number). This, does not apply for people with diabetes, in which the limit is 130 over 80, as in the older population. Previously was thought that if someone’s blood pressure is 139 over 89 that that person is already in hypertensive condition and that this person needs to take meds immediately in order to avoid increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Blood pressure generally considered to be low when either systolic blood pressure is less than 90 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure is less than 60 mmHg, but if your blood pressure is severely low — less than 80/50 mmHg — or you experience a sudden drop in blood pressure, consult your health care provider. If you have low blood pressure and do not have any worrisome symptoms, such as dizziness, headaches, or an abnormal heart rate, it is probably not a concern. Knowing your blood pressure is important part of health management, since undiagnosed hypertension puts you at risk for a variety of other conditions. Accessed August 22, 2016. 3. http://www.cdc.gov/bloodpressure/facts.htm. Accessed June 14, 2016. ======================================= 💖 The Best Blood Pressure Levels For Total Health & Longevity ======================================= Linda asks: “Dr. Sam - my blood pressure levels are all over the place and my doctor has me on various drugs to lower it. Before the drugs, I was around 160-180 systolic and with the drugs I’m around 120-150. Sorry, I don’t remember the bottom number. Unfortunately, I feel horrible with the lower blood pressure, shouldn’t I feel better? Honestly, I felt fine with the higher blood pressure. What’s the best BP levels for me?” This is a very important question because ⅓ of adults over the age of 20 have high blood pressure. And the older we get, the worse the numbers become. For example, over 60% of the population over the age of 65 has high blood pressure. For women, it’s even worse because of menopause.2,3 Sadly, 70% of the population doesn’t even know they have high blood pressure, which greatly increases your risk of death by 43%, in addition to other health ailments.2,3 Now, before I get to Linda’s question, here’s a quick chart on blood pressure levels. As you can see, anything in the red that’s over 140/90 is considered “high” blood pressure. The yellow zone is better, but still a problem. Ideal range is in the green, which is LESS than 120/80. I prefer around 110/70. Now, getting back to Linda’s question - she feels worse with the “lower” numbers because of the stupid prescription drugs. So, that’s the first thing I want to point out. Secondly, she stated that she “felt fine” when her levels were higher. This is another problem with high blood pressure. You feel fine because there aren’t any real symptoms. That’s why it’s known as the “silent killer”. So if you want to live longer, lowering your blood pressure levels below 120/80 is a huge benefit and a necessity for total health. I would skip the drugs and try to do it naturally. Below this video, I’ve got a link to another video about how you can quickly and naturally lower your blood pressure levels, so make sure you take a look right now, while it’s fresh on your mind. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Normal Blood Pressure Range for Children & Adults|Health & Fitness

01:38
Normal Blood Pressure Range for Children & Adults https://youtu.be/GUGoIHSDRF0 Blood pressure measures the pressure that is in the arteries when the heart is at rest as well as when it is actively pumping. Understanding the normal blood pressure levels can help you evaluate the health of your cardiovascular system. Adults For adults, the normal blood pressure reading is less than 120 mm Hg for the systolic pressure and less than 80 mm Hg for the diastolic pressure. The systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart is actively pumping, whereas the diastolic pressure is the arterial pressure when the heart is at rest. Pediatric Normal blood pressure readings in children vary depending on the age, sex, and height of the child. In general, normal blood pressure is higher for males and increases with increasing age and height, but the normal numbers must be determined by looking at a chart. Many doctors recommend routinely measuring blood pressure beginning at age 3. Abnormal Readings It is important to note that one abnormally high reading does not mean that a person has high blood pressure. Blood pressure can fluctuate significantly from one reading to the next, so an average of multiple readings taken over several days should be used when evaluating blood pressure numbers. How to measure blood pressure-bp measurement. In this video I am going to show how You can measure Blood Pressure at home By bp machine(sphygmomanometer). Follow the steps as shown in videos. Blood pressure is a lateral pressure exerted by blood on blood vessels. The normal systolic pressure is 120 and diastolic pressure is 80. SP/DP= 120/80 But this value vary on several factors like age, sex, diet etc. If You want to know your blood pressure add 100 to your age this will be your systolic pressure. For example- If your age is 45 then your sp is 100+45=145mm of hg. _____________________ ________ Watch the video till end._________________________ DON’T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE If you have any query mail me - biomedtopic@gmail.com For more visit- http://scientechinstitute.blogspot.in Thanks for watching Watch more video: Diabetes- https://youtu.be/acTI_Jy42uE Colorblind test-- https://youtu.be/6OMyfw2XNOw How to focus on study- https://youtu.be/_xYA0qKSDZk Structure of Heart - https://youtu.be/BO7w_YITC3U How to check blood group at home - https://youtu.be/BHpzzr3GeFM Chromosomal Aneuploidy video- https://youtu.be/u_0GDER173A DNA structure - https://youtu.be/eb5PPWFZzxI Malaria disease- https://youtu.be/WMYVjt-iutQ Learn Pedigree analysis- https://youtu.be/7q-kLsHumdA Microscope - https://youtu.be/NCOz2bYm-44 How to measure blood pressure- https://youtu.be/O2aRNrrqV0I Sphygmomanometer- https://youtu.be/lcOUwSoI8bo How to check sugar at home- https://youtu.be/VfCflRrllAo ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬_____________________________________________________________________ Follow me on social website: YOUTUBE - http://www.youtube.com/c/scientechbiology FACEBOOK- https://www.facebook.com/ScientechInstitute2011 Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/satyendra_scientechbiology/ TWITTER- https://twitter.com/ScientechBiolo1 GOOGLE +- https://plus.google.com/u/0/107477652068065743054 https://www.facebook.com/scientechbiology -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "A to Z fruits and their importance-Food value of fruits-Nutrition" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JALCpDhAsXo -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- _____________________ ________ Watch the video till end._________________________ DON’T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE If you have any query mail me - biomedtopic@gmail.com For more visit- http://scientechinstitute.blogspot.in Thanks for watching Watch more video: contribute- http://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?tab=2&c=UCH8C3uC0fapVBx4xb_GgrtA Facts about human body- https://youtu.be/6vh4d0DppZQ Knock knee- https://youtu.be/5N_MWj6gkwM Importance of Fruits- https://youtu.be/JALCpDhAsXo Life under Microscope- https://youtu.be/sGD-C7akhuI Diabetes- https://youtu.be/acTI_Jy42uE Colorblind test-- https://youtu.be/6OMyfw2XNOw How to focus on study- https://youtu.be/_xYA0qKSDZk Structure of Heart - https://youtu.be/BO7w_YITC3U How to check blood group at home - https://youtu.be/BHpzzr3GeFM Chromosomal Aneuploidy video- https://youtu.be/u_0GDER173A DNA structure - https://youtu.be/eb5PPWFZzxI Malaria disease- https://youtu.be/WMYVjt-iutQ Learn Pedigree analysis- https://youtu.be/7q-kLsHumdA Microscope - https://youtu.be/NCOz2bYm-44 How to measure blood pressure- https://youtu.be/O2aRNrrqV0I Sphygmomanometer- https://youtu.be/lcOUwSoI8bo How to check sugar at home- https://youtu.be/VfCflRrllAo ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬_____________________________________________________________________ Follow me on social website: YOUTUBE - http://www.youtube.com/c/scientechbiology FACEBOOK- https://www.facebook.com/ScientechInstitute2011 Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/satyendra_scientechbiology/ TWITTER- https://twitter.com/ScientechBiolo1 GOOGLE +- https://plus.google.com/u/0/107477652068065743054 https://www.facebook.com/scientechbiology

Quick overview of the Normal pressure values in Systemic and Pulmonary circulations for the Medical students studying the Cardiovascular Physiology. Disclaimer: According to "John B. West, Respiratory Physiology - The Essentials, 9th Edition, Page 37", the diastolic ventricular pressures are equal to zero. In the physiology of the human body, nothing can be equal to zero exactly. I believe, the pressure of zero mmHg during diastole in the ventricles is used for understanding the general idea of the Cardiovascular system pressures concept. Keep in mind, that the video tutorial represents the Normal Physiologic CV pressure values. In spite of that, I want all the future and current physicians, watching this video, to know: Diastolic pressure in the right and left ventricular pressures are not zero. In fact, during diastole, when the tricuspid and mitral valves are open, the end-diastolic pressure equalizes, so that the PCWP (pulmonary capillary wedge pressure) accurately reflects end-diastolic LV pressure as well. So, as long as there is no mitral valve stenosis, the diastolic pressures in the left atrium and the left ventricle should equalize during diastole. Diastole was once thought to be a passive process, just filling up the chamber. However, now we know that diastole is an active process, and there can be defects in diastolic relaxation, thus leading to diastolic heart failure (CHF with normal ejection fraction or systolic function). That is common in hypertensive patients, when the LV becomes "stiff" or has difficulty relaxing. It's common with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or certain other metabolic cardiomyopathies, such as amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, and hemochromatosis.

Follow me at: https://www.facebook.com/iMEDTracker/ https://www.facebook.com/UmerKhanMD/ Transcript: So now talking about the new high blood pressure numbers and guidelines. they have changed yes they have changed and what does that mean for you? now this is going to have huge implications for Millions. do you now have high blood pressure that needs to be treated and are you in any danger? the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have new recommendations for high blood pressure numbers and guidelines. Now have to remember these guidelines based on the latest research and conclusions derived from Decades of information gathered. however you can never say these are the absolute for every individual and you can never say whether there won't be any changes in the future. But this is what I always say you have to follow the latest guidelines as that is the best current understanding of Health Management. now instead of the cut-offs being 140 by 90 now it is 130 by 80. this is a drastic change. this will put almost half of all us adults to be designated to have high blood pressure or to have hypertension. this is going to throw a lot of the younger folks into being declared hypertensive and that would double the number of females less than 45 years old and triple the number of men less than 45 years old into being designated hypertensive. Most of these individuals will need lifestyle and diet remodification and may not medications just yet but hopefully these new recommendations help out in improving the person's long-term quality of life. and just about 2% of adults currently not taking medication will need to be placed on medication. so although the cutoff went down by 10 millimeters of mercury yet the fact on initiation of medication is minimal for now Now needless to say as I mentioned earlier that these numbers can be different for different individuals and different patients with different medical issues in addition to high blood pressure. And your doctor is going to be the best person to decide what is and what should your goals be. I myself I am a fan of not having to take medications. However if you do need to take medication you surely have to do so otherwise you will be causing yourself harm especially in the long run. I have a video which describes how you can treat your high blood pressure naturally and how have the link in the description below. so there is an app called iMed tracker that you can download to keep track of your medication and it helps out with your overall health management as well. so check that out in the description below but anyways it is your doctor's goal to prevent you from taking medication but if you have to you must take when properly. anyways let me know what you guys think in the comments below and how is your blood pressure thank you High Blood Pressure, High Blood Pressure Numbers, High Blood Pressure Medication, High Blood Pressure Diet, High Blood Pressure Chart, High Blood Pressure Range, Blood Pressure, Blood Pressure Ranges, Blood Pressure Guidelines, American Heart Association guidelines, American College of Cardiology guidelines, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology

Blood Pressure

06:36
When you go the doctor to get your blood pressure measured, you will hear two numbers, for example; 120/80. What do those numbers mean? In order to understand the subject of blood pressure, we first have to know some information about the circulatory system (cardiovascular system). The circulatory system is made up of organs that work together: the heart; lungs; blood vessels; and blood. The heart, blood, and blood vessels make up the cardiovascular component of the circulatory system. The heart is a muscle the size of your fist. It constantly pumps blood through the blood vessels. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the body’s organs and drops off waste products to be filtered out by the kidneys, liver, lungs, and skin. Each heart beat pushes blood out of the heart into the arteries, then the heart relaxes while getting ready for the next pumping beat. So, in fact we observe two actions here: contraction and relaxation. The contraction is called systole, and the relaxation: diastole. The blood pressure is the amount of pressure exerted on your artery walls by the blood flowing into them, under the effect of the heart’s pumping action. Now let’s see, if the heart contracts to push the blood forward, this must be causing a higher pressure on the artery walls than when it relaxes, right? Exactly! So there are actually two readings for the blood pressure in one person: one while the heart contracts, which causes the higher pressure value: called systolic pressure; and the other when the heart relaxes/rests, called the diastolic pressure. The systolic pressure is the upper/higher one, and the diastolic is the lower one. Now let’s have a further look at the measurement unit of blood pressure. We say for example that my blood pressure is 120/80 mm of mercury. Which means that the blood presses on the walls of the arteries with the same pressure of a 1-mm thick column of mercury with the height of, say 120 mm, which is “the value we read”. A sphygmomanometer and a stethoscope are devices used to record your blood pressure. A sphygmomanometer consists of an inflatable cuff, a measuring unit (the mercury manometer, or aneroid gauge), and a mechanism for inflation which may be a manually operated bulb and valve or a pump operated electrically. The cuff is normally placed to fit around an upper arm, at roughly the same vertical height as the heart while the subject is seated with the arm supported. It is essential that the correct size of cuff is selected for the patient. For clinical measurements it is usual to measure and record both arms in the initial consultation to determine if the pressure is significantly higher in one arm than the other. The cuff is inflated until the artery is completely occluded. Using a stethoscope, we listen to the brachial artery at the elbow, the examiner slowly releases the pressure in the cuff. As the pressure in the cuffs falls, a "whooshing" or pounding sound is heard (see Korotkoff sounds) when blood flow first starts again in the artery. The pressure at which this sound began is noted and recorded as the systolic blood pressure. The cuff pressure is further released until the sound can no longer be heard. This is recorded as the diastolic blood pressure. We can also palpate/feel the radial pulse to make sure of the lower reading. The top number (the systolic blood pressure) is considered a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease for people above 50 years of age. In most people, systolic blood pressure rises steadily with age due to increasing stiffness of large arteries and long-term build-up of plaque due to unhelathy eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. A single high reading does not necessarily mean that you have high blood pressure. However, if readings stay at 140/90 mm Hg or above (systolic 140 or above OR diastolic 90 or above) over time, this is a sign that you should start a treatment program. Such a program almost always includes lifestyle changes and often prescription medication for those with readings of 140/90 or higher. If, while monitoring your blood pressure, you get a systolic reading of 180 mm Hg or higher OR a diastolic reading of 110 mm HG or higher, wait a couple of minutes and take it again. If the reading is still at or above that level, you should seek immediate emergency medical treatment for a hypertensive crisis. Starting at age 20, it is recommended to do a blood pressure screening every 2 years. Even if your blood pressure is normal, you should consider making lifestyle modifications to prevent the development of HBP and improve your heart health. How to: Measure Blood Pressure

04:09
An introductory video explaining how to manually measure blood pressure. In this video, we are sharing with you the auscultatory method of determining systolic and diastolic arterial pressures. The cuff is placed above the antecubital artery and the cuff is above the upper arm. The stethoscope is placed near the antecubital artery and no sound will be hear when there is enough pressure to close off the artery. When the pressure is slowly released, the sound of blood jetting through the vessel by the vibrations of the wall is called the Korotkoff sounds. The first sound is also the systolic pressure. The diastolic pressure is when a muffled quality occurs. Please note that the sound is often overestimated because sound can still be heard even after deflation of the cuff. This method is not 100% accurate but will give values within the 10% range. Blood Pressure - What is Blood Pressure - How To Lower Blood Pressure

02:30
In this video I discuss what is blood pressure, what blood pressure readings mean, and what is hypertension. I cover some causes of high blood pressure, and how to lower blood pressure. Transcript What is blood pressure? As the heart beats, it pumps blood through blood vessels to and from all areas of the body. As blood is traveling through the arteries, which are blood vessels where oxygen rich blood travels to organs and tissues, it pushes on the sides of the artery walls. Blood pressure is a reading of the force of how hard blood is pushing on the sides of the artery walls. High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is when this force is too high. Health care professionals will measure your blood pressure, while you are sitting at rest, with a device, usually a blood pressure cuff, which will produce 2 numbers. The 1st number is called systolic pressure, and it gauges blood pressure when the heart beats, while it is pumping blood. The 2nd number is called diastolic pressure, and it gauges blood pressure in between heart beats, when the heart is at rest. So, an example reading might be 117 over 79, with the 1st number being systolic pressure and the 2nd number being diastolic pressure. Normal blood pressure is defined as lower than 120 for systolic, and lower than 80 for diastolic. Your blood pressure will change throughout the day, being higher when you are active or under stress, and lower when you are resting. The chart on the screen lists the different stages of high blood pressure along with the systolic and diastolic readings for them . High blood pressure can cause severe damage to the body over time. It can cause artery damage and narrowing by damaging the cells of interior artery walls, which can lead to atherosclerosis or hardening of arteries. It can damage the heart, making it work harder to pump blood. High blood pressure can also lead to damage to the brain, kidneys and even the eyes, as well as bone loss and trouble sleeping. Some of the risk factors of having high blood pressure include age, heredity, being overweight, smoking, having high cholesterol levels, consistently being under stress, physical inactivity, and poor diet, including over consumption of foods with a high salt/sodium content. You can do some things to help control blood pressure. Improve your diet, which may include reducing salt and increasing potassium, get more active, maintain a healthy weight, find ways to manage stress, avoid tobacco products, and limit alcohol consumption.

Persistent hypertension, or hypertension, is common in obese people because the total length of their blood vessels is relatively greater than that in thinner individuals. Although high blood pressure levels is usually asymptomatic for the first 10 to 20 years, it slowly but surely strains the heart and damages the arteries. For that reason, hypertension is often called the "silent killer". Long term hypertension accelerates arteriosclerosis and is the cause of heart failure, vascular disease, renal failure, and heart stroke. Because the heart will pump against greater level of resistance, it must work harder, and time the myocardium enlarges. When finally stretched beyond its capacity to respond, the heart weakens and its walls become flabby. Advanced indicators include headache, sweating, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, feeling giddy, and vision disturbances. normal blood pressure low blood pressure high blood pressure symptoms how to lower blood pressure symptoms of high blood pressure blood pressure medication what is normal blood pressure blood pressure range low blood pressure symptoms what causes high blood pressure normal blood pressure range blood pressure numbers signs of high blood pressure what is hypertension lower blood pressure symptoms of low blood pressure blood pressure readings systolic blood pressure causes of high blood pressure what causes low blood pressure good blood pressure foods that lower blood pressure what is a normal blood pressure what is high blood pressure average blood pressure hypertension symptoms high blood pressure diet diastolic blood pressure healthy blood pressure what is considered high blood pressure foods to lower blood pressure high blood pressure medication blood pressure medicine causes of low blood pressure high blood pressure causes what is blood pressure what is low blood pressure how to lower high blood pressure how to lower your blood pressure how to take blood pressure high blood pressure chart natural ways to lower blood pressure high blood pressure medicine ways to lower blood pressure lower blood pressure naturally low blood pressure causes low blood pressure range how to lower blood pressure naturally home remedies for high blood pressure what is good blood pressure high blood pressure numbers natural remedies for high blood pressure blood pressure normal symptoms of hypertension what is the normal blood pressure signs of low blood pressure how to check blood pressure how to read blood pressure blood pressure reading how to reduce blood pressure blood pressure normal range low diastolic blood pressure low blood pressure during pregnancy how to lower blood pressure quickly high diastolic blood pressure high blood pressure during pregnancy low blood pressure chart lower blood pressure fast blood pressure meds orthostatic blood pressure whats a good blood pressure blood pressure levels perfect blood pressure regular blood pressure blood pressure log low blood pressure treatment how to reduce high blood pressure blood pressure calculator Hypertonie also ravages blood veins, creating small tears in the endothelium and increasing the demand for energy in countering the extreme mechanical load on the arterial vessels - this accelerates the progress of atherosclerosis. Furthermore, a worked out muscle cell accumulates more lipid than a comfortable muscle, further boosting this metabolic and morphological difference in cells and tissues. Because the vessels become progressively blocked, blood circulation to the tissues becomes inadequate, and vascular difficulties get started to appear in vessels of the brain, heart, kidneys, and retinas of the eyes. Systolic or growing pressure, the higher of both is normally around one hundred twenty in a healthy adult and the reduced diastolic about 70, normally expressed as 120/70. 130/80 is average for a 40 year old NZ male, 117/75 for a 40 month old female.

What is Pulse Pressure ?

01:38
Blood pressure readings are given in two numbers. The top number is the maximum pressure your heart exerts while beating (systolic pressure), and the bottom number is the amount of pressure in your arteries between beats (diastolic pressure). The numeric difference between your systolic and diastolic blood pressure is called your pulse pressure. For example, if your resting blood pressure is 120/80 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg), your pulse pressure is 40. How to Lower Diastolic causes of high diastolic blood pressure normal systolic

09:06
How to Lower Diastolic causes of high diastolic blood pressure normal systolic Disclaimer:This Video only For Educational Purpose Diastolic blood pressure is the amount of pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats. A normal, healthy diastolic blood pressure should be between 70 and 80 mmHg, while diastolic blood pressure numbers of 90 and higher can increase your risk for heart attack, stroke, and other health problems. Your diastolic blood pressure can be lowered in the same way your systolic blood pressure is lowered: by practicing a series of healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, and in some cases, by using medical treatments. 1 Following a Heart-Healthy Diet 1 Eat a diet comprised of healthy whole foods. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, low-fat dairy products, and foods high in potassium naturally help improve heart health and lower diastolic blood pressure. Start consuming more whole foods, and cut back on foods that are processed and high in sugar and fat. On a daily basis, try to get 6 to 8 servings of whole grains (1 slice of bread is one serving), 4 to 5 servings of vegetables (½ cup cooked veggies is one serving), and 4 to 5 servings of fruits (½ cup fruit juice is one serving).[1] You should also aim for 2 to 3 servings of dairy (1 cup fat-free milk is one serving), 6 servings or fewer of lean meat/poultry/fish (3 oz. of cooked meat is one serving), and 4 to 5 servings of nuts/seeds/legumes per day (2 tbsp peanut butter is one serving) per day.[2] Limit your consumption of sweets to 5 servings or fewer per week.[3] Foods rich in potassium can help balance out the effect of sodium, so consider eating more potassium-rich fruits and vegetables in particular, including oranges, avocados, beans, greens, potatoes, and tomatoes 2 Reduce your sodium intake. Excess sodium consumption causes water retention and forces your heart and arteries to work harder to pump blood throughout your body. Consume no more than 1,500 mg of sodium per day. Use sea salt instead of table salt, which often contains man-made additives that can worsen your health.[5] Keep in mind that one teaspoon of table salt contains 2,300 mg of sodium on average. The average person consumes about 3,400 mg of sodium daily--more than twice the recommended amount. Excess sodium can cause your body to retain water, which increases the amount of work your heart and blood vessels must do. As a result, excess sodium increases your diastolic blood pressure just as it increases your systolic blood pressure. Check food labels and recipes, and stick with foods that contain 140 mg or less of sodium per serving. Limit salt, MSG, baking soda, baking powder, disodium phosphate, and any compound with "sodium" or "Na" in it. Rely on other herbs, spices, and naturally flavorful ingredients to enhance the taste of food instead of reaching for the salt. 3 Consume less alcohol. Studies show that moderate alcohol consumption can improve heart health, but consuming more than one or two alcoholic beverages per day increases blood pressure and has adverse health effects. Lower your alcohol intake, and consult with your healthcare provider for recommendations on alcohol consumption.[6] Note that "one drink" equals 12 oz of beer, 5 oz of wine, or 1.5 oz of 80-proof liquor. 4 Reduce caffeine intake. Caffeine is linked to higher diastolic blood pressure levels, which occurs when caffeine blocks the hormone responsible for keeping arteries widened. Reduce your current caffeine intake, and switch from drinking coffee, energy drinks, and sodas to natural white, green, and black teas when you need an energy boost.[8] Technically, caffeine may or may not have a significant effect on your blood pressure. If you don't drink it often, caffeine can cause a dramatic spike in overall blood pressure, but it generally has a less significant effect if you've been consuming it regularly for an extended period of time. Check your blood pressure within 30 minutes of drinking a caffeinated beverage; if either diastolic or systolic blood pressure increases by 5 to 10 mmHg, that's too much, and you should look at cutting back. If you decide to reduce your caffeine, take several days to do so and lower your average consumption to about 200 mg daily--roughly two 12 oz (355 ml) cups of coffee.
