Prevention and treatment of cancers like breast and prostate can be done with minerals such as iodine, selenium, magnesium, and zinc. Alternative treatment is what is best and what actually works in the cancer game. Chemotherapy and radiation break the body down and what is needed to relieve ourselves from cancer is having a strong body. Strong bodies and minds are the foundation of good health. All traditional treatments from the medical community cause a worse physical state in the body and are not productive at providing a healthy mind. A good emotional state is important to really stopping cancer. Prayer, regular and consistent are vitally important as well. Simple prayers like, God please help me to do this thing, can give the person that extra kick that sends them into real healing. Minerals will also help the body to fend off other illness and disease. I would not believe any source that tells us that vitamins or minerals increase the risk of cancer. This is propaganda which is used to frighten us. If we believe it we are the 'blind following the blind". The authorities and specialists do not have the first idea of what it takes to naturally rid the body of excess cancer cells. One needs to remember that the body can handle a certain amount of cancer cells. It is the overload that is the problem. It is the imbalance that will occur if the body is deficent in minerals that the problem will begin. The body always defends itself against cancer cells if it has the minerals which are the 'immune system'. Minerals plus people = no cancer. This is an equation that always works. It can not help but work. As an example I use the mineral iodine from a regular drug store source, but I use it most regularly. And magnesium from Epsom Salts. That is something I use every day, only missing a day here or there. If calcium is used it must be a reputable source and someone better know what they are talking about if one uses calcium. If you want to do all you can to prevent prostate cancer, your first stop should be the grocery store, a top expert says. “There are foods that contain nutrients which have been found to help prevent prostate cancer so what you eat may help make a difference,” Dr. Edward Gheiler said. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in men. According to the American Cancer Society, about 161,360 men will develop prostate cancer this year, and the disease will result in about 26,730 deaths. Eating a healthy diet that contains foods that reduce prostate cancer also pays off in helping to prevent cardiovascular disease – heart disease and stroke – which is the biggest killer of men in the U.S., Gheiler notes. “Any diet that is good for your heart is good for your prostate, so you can help prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer at the same time,” adds Gheiler, an urologist at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Fla. He also advises patients to eat a diet that is low in fat, which is a culprit in cardiovascular disease and plays a role in cancer development as well. There is also evidence of a dietary connection between cancer and diet found in the differing rates of the disease in certain cultures, Gheiler says. “The Japanese have low rates of prostate cancer, but when they move to the U.S., the rate in their offspring doubles,” he notes. The Japanese diet is high in green tea, soy, vegetables, and fish. Whole, fresh foods, as compared to supplements, are better for prostate cancer prevention as they contain an array of flavonoids and antioxidants, which may work together to provide more cancer-fighting power, says Gheiler. “But even though these foods are healthy, people should avoid eating them in large quantities. A healthy, balanced diet is best,” he says. Here are Gheiler's top picks for nine foods that may prevent prostate cancer: Broccoli: Research finds men who eat a diet rich in vegetables generally have a reduced prostate cancer risk, but cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, may have an edge. They are rich in contain sulforaphane, a compound that target human cancer cells and slows them down. Don’t like broccoli? Brussels sprouts, kale, and cauliflower contain it too. Brazil Nuts: Selenium helps prevent the cellular damage that leads to cancer. Brazil nuts contain the most of it of any food by far, but smaller amounts of this trace element are also found in yellow fin tuna, halibut, and sardines. Tomatoes: Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant found in tomatoes, could explain why studies show foods made with tomatoes reduce prostate cancer risk. “This cancer-fighting effect is found only in cooked tomatoes, so choose tomato sauce over raw tomatoes,” says Gheiler. Salmon: A cold-water fish, salmon is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which are polyunsaturated fats that have been shown to reduce prostate cancer risk. Coffee: Studies find that drinking multiple cups of coffee daily – at least three – may reduce prostate cancer risk. “The effect may be due to stepped up metabolism,” says Gheiler. If you prefer green tea, research finds it also may help protect against prostate cancer. Carrots: While all vegetables may help prevent prostate cancer, a small study published in the Journal of European Nutrition found that men who ate carrots three times a week cut their prostate cancer risk by nearly 20 percent. Oranges: Citrus fruits contain vitamin C, which some studies find is toxic to cancer cells. Coconut Oil: This popular oil may help prevent prostate cancer. “It’s also good for the brain and it takes away food cravings,” says Gheiler. Colon Cancer is considered a PREVENTABLE cancer. Why? Primarily because by changing our diet we can reduce risk dramatically.  Here are 7 proven steps you can take right now to promote a healthy anti-cancer intestinal environment and prevent colorectal cancer naturally: 1.Eat Less Red Meat.  Studies show that eating red meat “frequently” increases the incidence of colon cancer. Eating red meat daily, and especially more than one serving per day. Increased risk is associated with increased inflammation associated with chemicals released by digestion of red meat. These chemicals increase damage to and inhibit the repair of DNA in the cells lining your intestines. Damage to DNA is a primary cause of all cancers. 2.Eat a Rainbow of Plant Antioxidants.  The deep, bright colors of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices contribute a wide variety of antioxidants to the diet. The National Mango Board commissioned a variety of studies with several U.S. researchers to help determine its nutritional value. "If you look at what people currently perceive as a superfood, people think of high antioxidant capacity, and mango is not quite there," said Dr. Susanne Talcott, who with her husband, Dr. Steve Talcott, conducted the study on cancer cells. "In comparison with antioxidants in blueberry, acai and pomegranate, it's not even close." But the team checked mango against cancer cells anyway, and found it prevented or stopped cancer growth in certain breast and colon cell lines, Susanne Talcott noted. "It has about four to five times less antioxidant capacity than an average wine grape, and it still holds up fairly well in anticancer activity. If you look at it from the physiological and nutritional standpoint, taking everything together, it would be a high-ranking super food," she said. "It would be good to include mangoes as part of the regular diet." The Talcotts tested mango polyphenol extracts in vitro on colon, breast, lung, leukemia and prostate cancers. Polyphenols are natural substances in plants and are associated with a variety of compounds known to promote good health. Mango showed some impact on lung, leukemia and prostate cancers but was most effective on the most common breast and colon cancers. "What we found is that not all cell lines are sensitive to the same extent to an anticancer agent," she said. "But the breast and colon cancer lines underwent apotosis, or programmed cell death. Additionally, we found that when we tested normal colon cells side by side with the colon cancer cells, that the mango polyphenolics did not harm the normal cells." The duo did further tests on the colon cancer lines because a mango contains both small molecules that are readily absorbed and larger molecules that would not be absorbed and thus remain present in a colon. "We found the normal cells weren't killed, so mango is not expected to be damaging in the body," she said. "That is a general observation for any natural agent, that they target cancer cells and leave the healthy cells alone, in reasonable concentrations at least." The Talcotts evaluated polyphenolics, and more specifically gallotannins as being the class of bioactive compounds (responsible for preventing or stopping cancer cells). Tannins are polyphenols that are often bitter or drying and found in such common foods as grape seed, wine and tea. The study found that the cell cycle, which is the division cells go through, was interrupted. This is crucial information, Suzanne Talcott said, because it indicates a possible mechanism for how the cancer cells are prevented or stopped. "For cells that may be on the verge of mutating or being damaged, mango polyphenolics prevent this kind of damage," she said. The Talcotts hope to do a small clinical trial with individuals who have increased inflamation in their intestines with a higher risk for cancer. QUERCETIN in Onion Helps to Reduce the Risk of PANCREATIC CANCER. Eating flavonol-rich foods like apples may help reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer, says a team of international researchers. Quercetin, which is found naturally in apples and onions, has been identified as one of the most beneficial flavonols in preventing and reducing the risk of pancreatic cancer. Although the overall risk was reduced among the study participants, smokers who consumed foods rich in flavonols had a significantly greater risk reduction. This study, published in the October 15 issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology, is the first of its kind to evaluate the effect of flavonols – compounds found specifically in plants – on developing pancreatic cancer. According to the research paper, “only a few prospective studies have investigated flavonols as risk factors for cancer, none of which has included pancreatic cancer. “ Researchers from Germany, the Univ. of Hawaii and Univ. of Southern California tracked food intake and health outcomes of 183,518 participants in the Multiethnic Cohort Study for eight years. The study evaluated the participants' food consumption and calculated the intake of the three flavonols quercetin, kaempferol, and myricetin. The analyses determined that flavonol intake does have an impact on the risk for developing pancreatic cancer. The most significant finding was among smokers. Smokers with the lowest intake of flavonols presented with the most pancreatic cancer. Smoking is an established risk factor for the often fatal pancreatic cancer, notes the research. Among the other findings were that women had the highest intake of total flavonols and seventy percent of the flavonol intake came from quercetin, linked to apple and onion consumption. It is believed that these compounds may have anticancer effects due to their ability to reduce oxidative stress and alter other cellular functions related to cancer development. “Unlike many of the dietary components, flavonols are concentrated in specific foods rather than in broader food groups, for example, in apples rather than in all fruit,” notes the research study. Previously, the most consistent inverse association was found between flavonols, especially quercetin in apples and lung cancer, as pointed out in this study. No other epidemiological flavonol studies have included evaluation of pancreatic cancer. While found in many plants, flavonols are found in high concentrations in apples, onions, tea, berries, kale, and broccoli. Quercetin is most plentiful in apples and onions.
