How To Design A Brochure In Adobe Photoshop | Solopress Tutorial
Learn how to design a brochure in Adobe Photoshop with our expert, easy-to-follow video tutorial... This video is part of our Adobe Creative series of design tutorials. Please make sure to subscribe to the Solopress YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/solopress) so you don't miss out on future guides! Please visit our blog (http://blog.solopress.com) for a more detailed description on all the steps in this video. How To Design A Brochure In Photoshop On the Solopress website (http://www.solopress.com), in the Free Artwork 'Templates' section under A4 Letterheads, click and download the (PS) Photoshop Template 297mm by 210mm. Open up the Photoshop file. We have created a guide layer that will help you to design your brochure - this includes the Bleed Area, Trim and Safe Area. Remember to use high-resolution images (300dpi) for the best results. Create a new guide by clicking and dragging on the vertical and horizontal Ruler (if your Ruler does not appear in Photoshop press Command + R). Create 4 new guides on the safe area line. Page 1 (Front Page/Cover) In the Layers window hide the Guide Layer Only refer to this layer to check your design fits within the Safe Area and make sure any colouring or images extends beyond the Bleed Area. To import your background in the top menu heading go to File, Place Embedded, locate your file(s) and select Place. Adjust the size and position. Select the Tick to confirm the action. To create the background image, import and adjust the size. In the top menu heading, go to Layers, New Adjustment Layer and select Hue & Saturation. A properties panel will appear, this is where you can adjust the Hue, Saturation and Lightness. You can also Colourise the image. Select the Colourise option, and pull down the Saturation to 11. Change the Lightness to -21 and adjust the hue to 210. Adjust your settings to suit your design; we have chosen a greyish blue, we want to keep the design simple so it does not stand out. Keep It Simple - With all the latest design trends having a simple and minimal design with set themed colours will have your brochure looking smart and professional. Now save your design and begin on the next page. Select the rectangle tool, drag and create a header for your text. (We have preselected the rectangle colour, to do this; make sure the rectangle tool is selected and in the top menu options will appear for you to change the colour). In the Layer window, select the Opacity and set it to 80%, the rectangle will now become slightly transparent. Select the text tool and change the font setting in the top menu. Type the Brochure Name, and adjust the position and size of the text, adjust the header box too if needed. We will now import our logo to the front cover. Using the same steps as before, place and embed the logo and adjust the size and positioning. We have positioned our logo in the top right hand corner. We will now duplicate the page, this helps when you are creating a similar image, all the layers will be as they were in the previous image. Remember to save your document by going to the top menu, File Save as, and save the document in your desired location. Select all the layers in the Layer Window and in the top menu, go to Layer and select Duplicate Layers. A pop window will appear asking where you want to move the layers. Under the Document, Select New, Name the new Page and select OK. Page 2 Apply the same set up guides as before; hide the all the extra layers by clicking off Eye icon in the Layer Window. Import your background (we have chosen a solid colour for this page). In the layers window, turn on the Rectangle Layer. Using the text tool, write your information within the orange box and adjust the font's size and position. The text we are using is called Lorem Ipsum. Loren Ipsum is a filler text used to demonstrate the graphic allowing viewers to focus on graphic aspects such as font, typography and page layout. Save and duplicate the image creating a new page. Pages 3 and beyond... Repeat these procedures until you have created all the pages in your brochure. Another useful tip: Try having all or most of your information ready before starting the brochure, this will help when choosing the font size and spacing. If you have any comments or questions regarding designing a brochure, please use the comments section below and we'll do our very best to answer your queries. http://www.solopress.com/brochures

Real English for staying at a HOTEL
Want to stay at a hotel in an English-speaking country? Even if it's another country, you may have to speak English at a hotel, because it's the international language of travel. In this video, I'll teach you everything you need to know. You'll learn about the services that hotels here offer, and how to make the most of your stay. I'll teach you sentences you can use to ask for anything you want at a hotel. I'll also teach you the titles of the people that you'll be speaking with. Find out what free services your hotel offers, so you can get value for your money, and also know which services you have to pay for, so you don't spend more than you want to. Learn all the vocabulary and expressions you need here, so you don't need to worry about your English next time you're on vacation or a business trip. All in all, I designed this video to make sure your next stay in a hotel will be an enjoyable one. TAKE THE QUIZ: https://www.engvid.com/english-for-staying-at-a-hotel/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome to engVid. I'm Adam. In today's video I'm going to walk you through your stay at a hotel in an English-speaking country. You need to know some vocabulary, you need to know some of the staff you're going to be dealing with, some of the services and amenities, and all of that stuff. So it's a lot of vocabulary, but a lot of things that you probably need to know before you get to the hotel. So, the first thing we're going to look at is the staff. Who works at a hotel? So, first of all, in some of the more fancy hotels, the more up... High-scale hotels, you're going to have a "doorman". He or she, mostly he, will open and close the door for you, that's why: doorman. Very... Now, I know you're not supposed to say "man", you're supposed to say "doorperson", but in hotels I don't think anybody really cares; we still say "doorman" because mostly it's a man working there. Now, if you drove there, there might be a "valet". A "valet" is a person who will take your car and park it for you. You give him or her the keys, they drive away, park your car. When you're ready to leave, they bring your car to the front of the hotel, you get in, drive off. There's also the "housekeeping" or the "maid". You can call it either one. "Housekeeping" is the same thing as "maid". These days "housekeeping" is a little bit more common than "maid", but they clean your room, bring you fresh towels, etc. The "porter". The porter will probably be standing outside in front of the hotel. When you pull up in your taxi or your car, he will come, take your bags inside to the front desk. And this person is also like a little bit of a man Friday we call it. He will run around and get things done for you if you need. If you need tickets, he'll go pick them up. If you need some chores run, he'll take your coat to the laundry, all these things. So basically he's a person who runs around doing tasks for the guests. Okay? A "bellhop" will take your luggage from the reception to your room. So you don't have to carry your own bags; that's what the bellhop does. Takes your bags, when you're ready to leave he will come to your room, take your bags downstairs for you. The "concierge". So, the concierge is the person who works in a hotel, and this is the person you go to if you need to arrange outings outside the hotel. If you want a restaurant reservation, if you want tickets to the theatre, sports games, anything you want to do outside the hotel, this person will probably help you organize these things, like tours, he or she or the area will have brochures and information about all the sites in the area, all the tourist attractions, etc. So, "concierge". The "g" sounds like the "s" in "measure". Okay? It's a bit of a French sound. Basically it's customer service. And again, in high-scale hotels, they do a bit more services for you, but most hotels have a concierge. Now, when you walk into the hotel you will go to the "front desk" or you will go to the "reception" or you will go to the "check-in desk", all the same thing. All of them are located in the lobby of the hotel. So the entrance, the main area of the front of the hotel, you just go to the front desk, you check in. You go to the check-in desk, you go to the reception, all the same thing. Now, if you're in your room and you don't want the maid to come and clean up, don't forget to put that "Do Not Disturb" tag on your door. Okay? We call this a tag. It's a piece of paper, you put it outside your door, housekeeping will not disturb you. They will not knock on your door. Now, basically hotel has "rooms" and "suites". What is the difference? Name only. Most hotels like to call their rooms suites, but if you want to get a little bit more technical, a suite should be bigger. Many suites have a kitchenette. A kitchenette is like a half kitchen. It's not a full-size kitchen, it's not fully equipped. Probably no big stove or dishwasher, things like that, but enough that you can make small meals, snacks, etc.

How to Plan an Educational Summer Vacation
Watch more Child Education videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/334220-How-to-Plan-an-Educational-Summer-Vacation Don’t settle for another trip to Disney this summer – consider a fun trip full of learning activities for the whole family. Step 1: Involve the kids in the planning Ask your children what special things they want to do on vacation. Write down their ideas and let them know that their enjoyment is a main reason for taking a vacation. Step 2: Involve resources Incorporate travel books, brochures, the internet, and maps to give your children a visual of places to visit. Reviewing the media is educational in itself. Step 3: Mix education and fun Choose a destination that balances educational adventures and fun. Tip Visit a destination they learned about in school the previous year, or one they will learn about the next year, to build on their knowledge. Step 4: Do educational things Be sure to visit museums and culturally significant sites. Review daily activities and discuss new things they learned, or you learned, in casual conversation. Tip Don’t tell the kids they are learning or give them homework; it is a vacation and should be treated as such. Step 5: Take pictures Take pictures along the way and review them after returning home. Step 6: Think about yourself Satisfy your own vacation needs. Schedule time to relax, read a book, or enjoy a nice dinner. Did You Know? About 3,000 U.S. schools have embraced the full-year calendar and shortened summer vacation to July only.

What is TRAVEL AGENCY? What does TRAVEL AGENCY mean? TRAVEL AGENCY meaning & explanation
What is TRAVEL AGENCY? What does TRAVEL AGENCY mean? TRAVEL AGENCY meaning - TRAVEL AGENCY definition - TRAVEL AGENCY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A travel agency is a private retailer or public service that provides travel and tourism related services to the public on behalf of suppliers such as activities, airlines, car rentals, cruise lines, hotels, railways, travel insurance, and package tours. In addition to dealing with ordinary tourists most travel agencies have a separate department devoted to making travel arrangements for business travelers and some travel agencies specialize in commercial and business travel only. There are also travel agencies that serve as general sales agents for foreign travel companies, allowing them to have offices in countries other than where their headquarters are located. A travel agency's main function is to act as an agent, selling travel products and services on behalf of a supplier. Consequently, unlike other retail businesses, they do not keep a stock in hand, unless they have pre-booked hotel rooms and/or cabins on a cruise ship for a group travel event such as a wedding, honeymoon, or a group event. A package holiday or a ticket is not purchased from a supplier unless a customer requests that purchase. The holiday or ticket is supplied to the agency at a discount. The profit is therefore the difference between the advertised price which the customer pays and the discounted price at which it is supplied to the agent. This is known as the commission. In many countries, all individuals or companies that sell tickets are required to be licensed as a travel agent. In some countries, airlines have stopped giving commissions to travel agencies. Therefore, travel agencies are now forced to charge a percentage premium or a standard flat fee, per sale. However, some companies pay travel agencies a set percentage for selling their product. Major tour companies can afford to do this, because if they were to sell a thousand trips at a cheaper rate, they would still come out better than if they sold a hundred trips at a higher rate. This process benefits both parties. It is also cheaper to offer commissions to travel agents rather than engage in advertising and distribution campaigns without using agents. Other commercial operations are undertaken, especially by the larger chains. These can include the sale of in-house insurance, travel guide books, and public transport timetables, car rentals, and the services of an on-site bureau de change, dealing in the most popular holiday currencies. A travel agent is supposed to offer impartial travel advice to the customer, as well as coordinating travel details and assisting the customer in booking travel. However, this function almost disappeared with the mass market package holiday, and some agency chains seemed to develop a "holiday supermarket" concept, in which customers choose their holiday from brochures on racks and then book it from a counter. Again, a variety of social and economic changes have now contrived to bring this aspect to the fore once more, particularly with the advent of multiple, no-frills, low-cost airlines.

Not to be confused with his last SPEECH "I've Been to the Mountaintop" given two months later on April 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Also, there's an edited 19 minute version floating around... it's missing 3 sections and actually CUTS OFF HIS FINAL SENTENCE! Unbelievable... TEXT: http://kingencyclopedia.stanford.edu/encyclopedia/documentsentry/doc_the_drum_major_instinct/ Synopsis: King's "Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on 4 February 1968, was an adaptation of the 1952 homily ''Drum-Major Instincts'' by J. Wallace Hamilton. King encouraged his congregation to seek greatness, but to do so through service and love. King concluded the sermon by imagining his own funeral, downplaying his famous achievements and emphasizing his heart to do right.

How to fix travel | Doug Lansky | TEDxStockholm
Travel has improved over the years in some ways, but it has come off the rails in others. It's great that a journey from Europe to the U.S. takes eight hours instead of several weeks in the hull of a rat-infested sailboat boat, but tourism is also homogenizing the planet's cultures and growing unsustainably. How can Stockholm, for example, find room for twice as many tourists in the summer in popular areas where it's already so crowded visitors can barely move down the street? And with the packaged, tight itineraries that bring visitors from one attractions to the next, how are visitors supposed to make natural contact with locals? Doug Lansky, travel writer, tourism industry advisor, and author of the thought-provoking new visual book TRAVEL: The Guide, takes us on a journey to find the Holy Grail of tourism: sustainable, profitable, and authentic travel. Find more on Doug here: www.douglansky.com Doug Lansky is an American travel writer based in Sweden who has written books for Lonely Planet, Rough Guides and contributed to Esquire, Men’s Journal,The Guardian, National Geographic Adventure, Readers Digest and many others. He also wrote a nationally syndicated travel column in over 40 newspapers, hosted a Travel Channel show and served as travel editor for Scandinavian Airlines inflight magazine. On the speaking circuit, Doug has given acclaimed lectures at nearly 100 universities, spoken to a sold-out audience at corporate events and at both public and industry travel/tourism conferences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Christopher English Retrospective Exhibition Brochure at The New Walk Museum in Leicester
Christopher English Retrospective Exhibition of Paintings and Poetry at the New Walk Museum 'Wall Gallery', April 2013. This second video 2 of 2 is the brochure to the exhibition showing the poems together with the paintings. I show the symbolic images in my paintings as a complement to the imagery evoked in my poems. Ideas for the symbolism in my art derive from my poetry. Content of artwork is allegorical, full of metaphor, connotation and ambiguity. I start a painting with a combination of several images from a poem. Discovery and suggestion from my imagination emerge during the painting process and are a supplement to the poetry. The result has the intrinsic value of both poem and painting. Indeed, I show where the ideas in the paintings came from, hence this publication of my poems and paintings together.

Where I Am and Where I Want to Go - Art Journal Page in Book of Backgrounds #35
In Book of Backgrounds 35, we're going to take on a travel scene for this page. I will admit right up front, I don't know if it was lack of sleep, but I had trouble with this page. I do not edit out mistakes so beginners can see how to fix them if it happens to them and there are a few in this one. In the end, it turned out pretty good. Collaging theme paper, then painting the paper is the main technique in the video. Painting upside down and tearing the paper is optional :) Ready to make this? Supply list and photo on my blog: https://goo.gl/5VLNiq ------------------------------------ Subscribe to my channel so you don't miss anything! https://goo.gl/NF5Vj3 ------------------------------------ Side Note: My videos are geared towards beginners and intermediates. I talk throughout the process to make it easy for you to understand. I avoid speeding up the videos and mistakes are not edited out so you can see how to fix it if it happens to you. In doing this, the videos are a little bit longer. Includes written and video lessons that take you through the entire process, you’ll learn how to paint a background with visual texture and a painting to go along with it. you can get it free here: http://artplace.ca/bob-roadmap/ ------------------------------------ What exactly is a “Book of Backgrounds”? I started this series in 2012 as a fun way to create a bunch of backgrounds when I was going through a “bleh” faze. By creating backgrounds in advance, as I flipped through the book, a background would jump out at me, allowing me to be excited and creatively inspired to create something on it. The original name of the entire project is the “Bob and Doug” series. BOB being “book of backgrounds” DOUG was coined from my readers as “doing your unusual genre”. If you’re a Canadian, you know who “Bob and Doug” are…and I thought it would be something totally unrelated, but memorable. ------------------------------------ How Does the BOB Project Work? In the “Book of Background” series, all the backgrounds are created first. When you are done painting all the backgrounds, then you start creating the artwork based on the background that inspires you. ------------------------------------ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- This this easy project: "Easy Abstract Art for Beginners Using Texture" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yCI_yYi3RM -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

How to Get Around and Save Money on Transport When You Travel
http://suitcaseentrepreneur.com/lifestyle-show/how-to-get-around-and-save-money-on-transport-when-you-travel/ In the conventional world, most people get around by car, bike or using public transport. My preferred mode of transport is a bike, but when you're living out of a suitcase and constantly relocating, lugging one around doesn't really make sense. If you're visiting places like I have recently, mainly in South East Asia, then cycling would be considered potentially a crazy and dangerous thing to undertake - especially when taxis are so cheap and traffic is manic on the roads. If you're lucky on your travels, then you'll be visiting locations or moving to a city where the public transport is awesome and really reliable like much of Europe. But this isn't always the case when you're traveling, so you may have to get creative and savvy when it comes to getting around in a new city. There are several ways that I've done this and in today's video, I share the the key ways that I save money while traveling, and make it way easier to get around. My Solutions for Saving Money on Transport While Traveling: Look for local markets or trading fairs to find great bargains like my vintage bike Use Craigslist, eBay, or the local directory to search for new and used goods that people want to sell or trade Research the public transport system before arriving, so you know what deals they offer on monthly passes, weekly tickets and day passes (especially for tourists) Pick up tourist brochures at the airport, train stations or Tourism offices as they often have vouchers and discounts on travel, sightseeing and transport In the comments below, tell me the one tip that you have for getting around cheaply when traveling.
