2 Yrs. On Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) for Autoimmune Issues - My Story!

13:07
My experience being on Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) for nearly two years now. I'm on it for an Autoimmune thyroid disorder, Hashimotos. This medicine has 100% fully, totally changed my quality of life. If you have any type of autoimmune disorder, or chronic health issues, chronic complicated or complex health problems, please watch this and look into LDN further. It can help a variety of health problems, but is intended for those who need help modulating the immune system. It, in addition to my own lifestyle changes and dietary changes, has healed my thyroid to the point where I do not need medicine for it anymore. I've gone from being on medication for my thyroid disorder (and I was told I'd be on it for life until my thyroid destroyed itself) to weaning myself off of it due to the effectiveness of Low Dose Naltrexone. I've had fatigue problems my whole life and was diagnosed with Narcolepsy at 17. I also have sleep apnea, had a past brain injury which led to a plethora of chronic health problems, and this is the only thing that has really helped me heal and feel healthy. I still take it day by day. But, my life has improved drastically. With having narcolepsy, I was on medication for it for over a decade. I've been able to get off of that medicine now. It is not entirely due to the LDN, but also due to figuring out my nutritional imbalances (very specific ones) and supplementing to correct those. No one cares more about your health than you. If you have any questions for me, please ask. I am hoping the comment section will take off with stories and experiences. I wanted to say that I am sorry this video isn't very structured. There is so much to cover about LDN and I really wanted to put something out there - though it is imperfect and jumping all over the place. I hope I made some sense. I will make other videos to address very specific topics that seem to come up all the time in the LDN forums I'm a part of. ------------------------------------------------------------- To understand how LDN works, please checkout this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0p0ykSzy9o Tumeric/Curcumin Supplement to help with pain & inflammation: http://amzn.to/2CwzZR5 If you have Hashimotos, I highly recommend the book, The Root Cause: http://amzn.to/2Cy2T31 (it was where I first heard of LDN) ------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The Content is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. What is LDN (Low dose naltrexone) & Does it Actually Work?

21:28
Today we are going to talk about LDN or low dose naltrexone. This medication is often prescribed to treat medications such as weight loss, autoimmune disease and chronic pain. But does it actually work? Will taking LDN actually help you lose weight? Will it help you reduce your antibodies or improve your thyroid function? Will it actually take away your pain? I discuss all of these questions in this video and I talk about how often it works for my patients. The good news is that LDN has few side effects, so even if it doesn't work it may be beneficial for certain people. Hey guys! I'm Dr. Westin Childs and I focus on thyroid health, hormone balance, and weight loss. I write about thyroid disorders, weight loss, insulin resistance, estrogen/progesterone balance on my blog. I truly believe that hormone balance is the key to managing your weight, your mood and your quality of life which is why I'm so passionate about it. I take a personalized/functional medicine approach to management of conditions. I'm not accepting patients but you can learn more and get plenty of information on my blog! You can learn more about high-quality supplements that I create (and personally use) here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ More information, including links to literary studies, in the video and the full blog post, can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/ldn/ You can find more general information on my site here: https://www.restartmed.com/ If you enjoyed this video please subscribe on youtube or leave a comment on my podcast here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/dr-westin-childs-podcast-thyroid-weight-loss-hormones/id1141207688?mt=2 This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Dr Bihari is Interviewed about Low Dose Naltrexone LDN for Normalizing Immune System Function

01:19:12
Interview with Bernard Bihari, MD: Low-dose Naltrexone for Normalizing Immune System Function Bernard Bihari, MD, (1931-2010) was the discoverer of the clinical effects of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) in humans. In his groundbreaking clinical trial of patients with HIV/AIDS at Downstate Medical Center in 1985-86, Dr Bihari discovered the significant effectiveness of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) in protecting the battered immune systems of those who were infected. With that knowledge, he entered private practice in an attempt to counter the then untreatable disease. As Dr Bihari explains below, the immune-system normalizing effect of the drug application he discovered applies to a wide range of autoimmune disorders. This interview was provided by Dr Bihari’s widow, from a videotape discovered after his death. The interview was transcribed and curated by Julia Schopick, author of Honest Medicine (www.honestmedicine.com) and champion of effective, cost-efficient treatments that are neglected by current practice. n 2012 the Norwegian documentary program, "Vårt lille land” (“Our Small Country”), aired this documentary about Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), an off-label drug that has helped many patients with a large number of autoimmune diseases and some cancers. Because the drug is off patent and therefore commercially not of interest to drug companies, most doctors have never heard of it. That is why LDN is often referred to as an example of "people powered medicine." After this documentary aired, the number of prescriptions for LDN rose in Norway from 300 to 15,000 a year, and 75 % of MDs in the country now prescribe it.

"MIRACLE" DRUG LOW DOSE NALTREXONE HELPS MS, CANCER, & AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES, AIDS AND MORE!

02:28
Low Dose Naltrexone is a "miracle" drug that is saving the lives of so many with immune diseases. Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) is a form of Naltrexone, a drug used to treat drug and alcohol addiction. Dr. Ian Zagon, a brilliant researcher at Penn State, made the discovery that LDN in lower doses was a remarkable treatment for diseases that invoke a hyperactive immune response. LDN helps to quiet the system down. LDN boosts the body's endorphin levels in the brain. It was found that those who suffer from numerous, immune deficiency disease have low endorphin levels. These naturally produced brain chemicals are released by the body in times of stress or to induce mood elevations. Every cell of the immune system has receptors for these agents. Studies with rats and humans has shown cancer cells to be inhibited by LDN. Many disorders such as MS, cancer, AIDS, fibromyalgia, IBS, chronic fatigue, ALS, autism, etc. are helped by LDN. There are approximately 50 diseases that can be helped by LDN. LDN must be filled by a compounding pharmacy in a non-time release formula. It is highly recommended that one of the pharmacies on lowdosenaltrexone.org fill the prescription. My prescription is filled at Skip's Pharmacy. LDN is safe, effective, non addictive, virtually no side effects, and inexpensive, about $1.00 a day. The reason that most, including doctors, know nothing about it is because the patent has expired and the drug industry cannot make hugh profits. Therefore, they will not spend the necessary funds to do studies or promote the drug. Nevertheless, for those of us who take this miracle drug, it is a lifesaver. The blonde lady in the video, Lori, came to my hometown from Florida and she happened to read my story about LDN in our local newspaper. Her brother died from MS at age 42 and she had MS and was going downhill fast. She took the story back home to her doctor and at first, he would not prescribe it to her. But she persisted and he finally gave her a prescription. Now, she can walk with the aid of a walker and she can use her hands again. My father-in-law had 2 precancerous lesions on his pancreas, which the surgeon stated that he must have immediate surgery, as they would turn into cancer. We said, no way. He was placed on LDN, watches his diet, takes supplements, and digestive enzymes. This has been over 3 years, he has had 3 mri's, and his lesions are shrinking and almost gone. This year, 2012 the doctor told him that he didn't need anymore mri's. Another LDN miracle! For nearly 8 years, I have been on LDN for numerous health issues. I only take LDN and not the standard, black-box warning drugs that were prescribed to me. I too am doing just fine! Check out http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/ and join the LDN support group at Yahoo. Ask others on the site who will prescribe LDN in your town, as this drug may save your life or the life of a loved one! There is a free book entitled, Those Who Suffer Much Know Much that can be read online. Any one interested in making donations to LDN research may contact the Penn State's donor program. Who knows what other remarkable discoveries are waiting to be discovered by these wonderful scientists with your help! Any LDN group would welcome your support too!

Low Dose Naltrexone by Len Saputo, MD

06:39
Low dose naltrexone (LDN) has been implicated to help with cancer, HIV/AIDS, autoimmune diseases, and much more. Now it has been shown to have a potent antitumor effect on human ovarian cancer in both tissue culture and in animal xenografts. Naltrexone (NTX) is a general oioid receptor antagonist that results in compensatory elevation in endogenous oioids and opioid receptors. It has a powerful inhibition of cell lproliferation. Studies showed that LDN could also increase the effects of chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Take Dr. Saputo's Cancer Health Assessment Once you have cancer you want to know what you can do to get rid of it and keep it gone! In this Health Assessment we will ask you questions about what treatment(s) you have undergone, which complementary and alternative treatments might be of interest to you, what lifestyle factors could help slow down or prevent a recurrence, and what you might want to consider if your cancer is causing pain or if your situation is terminal.http://doctorsaputo.com/a/cancer-health-assessment
