John Christophe no ICC certs

09:08
Why, after failing 2 attempts to pass an open book ICC exam, is this Austin Code supervisor still in his position? listen to him in his own words say that if one fails to get certified then they get demoted, but yet John is still an assistant division manager with the appropriate salary. That is theft - it is the ongoing problem within Austin Code of people being promoted by their friends in city management when they are not qualified for the position

Building Codes 101, Part II: ICC and Building Codes

34:26
Where the first part of this webinar series touched provided an overview of building codes, this second part focuses on the model codes provided by the International Code Council (ICC). It provides more specific information on ICC's family of codes and the methods used to create and modify them. It seeks to provide you with the information you need to make use of ICC's codes and participate in its code development process. Through ICC's governmental process used to create the codes, and the three-year, multi-step consensus process used, it provides real examples of what goes into a code change proposal. The goal of this webinar is to provide you with the tools to participate by submitting proposals, participating in code action hearings, and offering public comments. It is fundamental background material for those who are planning to get involved in code development for the first time.

What Makes A Good Fire Inspector?

01:12
http://www.rickyrescue.com/12-fire-inspector-classes-online - A good fire inspector has excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and can make decisions impartially, ethically and without prejudice. Many fire inspectors start their career as frontline firefighters. However, it’s also not uncommon to find qualified personnel in other areas, such as city inspectors, undertaking Fire Inspector 1 training to add fire inspection to their qualifications. As a Fire Inspector you will be required to carry out a number of duties. First and foremost, you will be responsible for conducting building inspections to check fire compliance, inspect and test fire systems and issue code violation notices as required. You will also be responsible for creating fire exit plans as required, conducting and supervising fire drills and other similar tasks. Additionally, you may be required to collect evidence at fire scenes, generate forensic reports and appear in court to testify. Some fire inspectors are also trained to identify hazardous materials and may also be required to undertake training in knowing building construction as it relates to the fire services. Obtaining Fire Inspector certification online is the most convenient way to do it as these courses are generally open-enrolment and self-paced so they fit in with your existing responsibilities. Contact Ricky Rescue Training Academy for more information about Fire Inspector certification.

Significant Changes to the A117.1 Accessibility Standard 2009 Edition

05:16
When it comes to understanding the 2009 edition of the ICC A117.1 standard, there is no better tool than Significant Changes to the A117.1 Standard. This one-of-a-kind four-color resource identifies significant changes from the 2003 edition to the 2009 edition of the standard and provides the reason and rationale behind those changes. Essential for an easy transition between editions, the book's value lies in its focus, which is aimed at the most critical provisions, the most frequently used provisions, and provisions that have had a significant change in application, so that users can readily identify the need-to-know information. Each change is accompanied by a photograph, a real-world example, or an illustration, and is followed by a summary and analysis. Further enhancing this key content is the clear and deliberate labeling of each change as an addition, modification, clarification, or deletion. The end result is an indispensable resource that will familiarize building officials, plans examiners, inspectors, design professionals, and anyone in the building construction industry with the many important accessibility-related changes that have materialized in the A117.1 standard. Some of the more important changes include: Coordination of requirements for the various types dwelling units (consistency between Accessible, Type A and Type B unit provisions with a more logical 'step down' of the level of accessibility required in each type) Technical requirements for Type C (Visitable) Units added Accessible units require only one bathroom to be accessible Relocating dwelling unit provisions for blocking around plumbing fixtures from Chapter 6 back to Chapter 10 so they are not overlooked or misapplied Variable Message Signs (i.e., gate information in train stations and airports) Better consistency of sign requirements regarding when raised characters and Braille are required Location of toilet paper dispenser (more design options, recessed fixtures addressed, single point of measurement, etc.) New chapter for a variety of types of recreational facilities Authored by Jay Woodward Soft cover ISBN: 9781435498983 ID: 7811S09
