The Indonesian Psychiatrists Association classifies LGBT as mental disorders

03:37
Suzy Yusna Dewi, member of Indonesian Psychiatrists Association (PDSKJI), said the aforementioned sexual identities were often triggered by external factors such as a person's social environment, and therefore, they could be healed through psychiatric treatment. The PDSKJI defines homosexuals and bisexuals as “people with psychiatric problems” while transgender people have “mental disorders”. The classifications are in stark contrast to those of the World Health Organization (WHO), which removed homosexuality from its list of psychiatric disorders on May 17, 1990. Gay Sex A Mental Disorder? ADHD, Psychiatry, Psychology, Mind Control Report

09:48
MySpace Friend Me http://www.myspace.com/psychtruth Gay Sex A Mental Disorder? ADHD, Psychiatry, Psychology, Mind Control Report The disorders listed in the APA's, American Psychiatric Association's, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders diagnosed according to behavior criteria. This effectively makes the DSM a moral code or a book of laws. If you violate these laws, you are labeled as mentally ill and forced into mental health treatment which can include drugs, electroshock therapy or involuntary commitment. As society's morals change, so does the definition of mental illness. A Homosexual, gay or lesbian sex, was considered mentally ill until 1973. What changed? Is this the truth of science or moral opinion based on religion? "Troy, Michigan's Mayor Janice Daniels was scrutinized last month for comments she made on Facebook disavowing New York "now that queers can get married there" and now she has added more anti-gay comments to her record. Students from Troy High School report that she told them she wanted to invite "a panel of psychologists who would testify that homosexuality is a mental disease." LGBT people suffer from a mental disorder? Deputy health minister responds

02:03
Those in the LGBT community should not be classified as suffering from a mental disorder, said Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye. Instead, he described them as experiencing "hormonal and physical" issues in the brain which can be detected through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other similar scans. He was responding to PAS-Kuala Terengganu MP, Ahmad Amzad Mohamed, who had asked whether those under the LGBT umbrella term would be classified as suffering from mental disorders.

For LGBT People, Discrimination Still Brings Mental Health Challenges.

03:44
Big Think and the Mental Health Channel are proud to launch Big Thinkers on Mental Health, a new series dedicated to open discussion of anxiety, depression, and the many other psychological disorders that affect millions worldwide. It wasn’t until 1973 that the American Psychiatric Association voted to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder. The recency of that decision still affects the LGBT community today. Learn more at the Mental Health Channel: http://mentalhealthchannel.tv/show/big-thinkers-on-mental-health Read more at BigThink.com: http://bigthink.com/videos/james-dilley-on-lgbt-therapy Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Transcript - You know, it wasn’t until 1973 that the American Psychiatric Association, after a fairly lengthy period of debate, discussion, and advocacy, voted to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder. Discrimination, you know, comes in many forms. And the psychological and the social implications of those are, you know, they’re not insignificant. So if you do surveys of physicians and health care providers about their attitudes towards LGBT people, 20 to 30 percent say, you know, “I’m really not comfortable providing this kind of care.” Does one come out on an application to college or to medical school or to law school or, you name it. These are questions that people struggle with even to this very day. 90 percent or so of LGBT kids definitely say that they’ve experienced this kind of thing on, kind of on a daily basis. Whether it’s being told or being called “faggot” or whatever, made to feel badly because they’re different. These kinds of things over time, sort of add up. Discrimination, actual and perceived, then this expectation that develops for those events, results in lower self-esteem, difficulty with relationships, difficulty with one’s own, feeling happy about one’s own life. There is probably a two and a half or so times likelihood of mental health disorders or problems among LGBT folks. Depression, anxiety, substance abuse in particular. In particular for women actually, about three and a half times rate of substance use disorders among lesbians and bisexual women. There are higher rates of, certainly attempted suicide among LGBT communities. Exactly how many of those are completed is harder to know. But I could certainly say just from our clinical work over the years, it’s certainly not an uncommon kind of scenario, unfortunately. There’s just no question that today is just 180 degrees different than the way it was when I was growing up in small towns in the Midwest. As a middle-aged man, suddenly I was able to fight in the armed services when DOMA went down in the 90s. Now, today, I can actually be married in all fifty states. The fact that that has happened over this period of, what, fifty years or so is really quite remarkable. As those negative attitudes lessen, I can’t help but think that there’s going to be lesser mental health problems among LGBT folks.

How We Got Gay (Full Documentary)

44:44
HOW WE GOT GAY tells the incredible story of how gay men and women went from being the ultimate outsiders to occupying the halls of power, with a profound influence on our cultural, political and social lives. After the battles over civil rights for African Americans, and equal rights for women, the battle over gay rights is the first great fight for freedom in the 21st century. It is succeeding beyond anyone’s wildest imagination, with the speed and breadth of the victory stunning its detractors and supporters alike. It is remarkable that the battle for gay rights in the Western world is advancing the battle over gay rights is the first great fight for freedom in the 21st century. It is succeeding beyond anyone’s wildest imagination,in a fraction of the time that it took the women’s movement and the civil rights movement to achieve similar goals. However, at the heart of the revolution is a tragedy. What drove the gay community to finally demand power was a disease that was decimating its ranks: AIDS. HOW WE GOT GAY tells the powerful story of the struggle for gay rights, from the 40’s and 50’s to the present day. It takes us inside the secret lives gay people were forced to live, at a time when homosexuality was illegal in every province in Canada and every state in America and police harassment was a fact of life. Using a rich mix of never before seen archival images and footage and candid interviews with activists and personalities including author Edmund White, and Village Voice columnist Michael Musto, the documentary explores what life was like for gay people at a time when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness, and to be openly gay was to live in utter exile from society. With the social and sexual revolution of the 1960s, gays enjoyed a new found freedom. They also started to fight back. In 1969, the ‘Gay Revolution’ was unleashed with the Stonewall Riots, as an angry mob of gay people rose up against a routine police raid on a Greenwich Village bar. The film tells the devastating story of AIDS and its dramatic effect on the gay rights movement. What started as a barely noticed outbreak of a rare form of cancer in a small number of homosexual men in 1981 spread to become one of the deadliest pandemics in modern history. When AIDS is treated with indifference and hostility by society, the lack of response gives rise to a new kind of anger and a new kind of gay rights organization: the activist group ACT-UP. Through an extensive interview with AIDS activist Peter Staley, HOW WE GOT GAY shows how the movement for gay equality becomes consumed with the AIDS crisis, and how the gay community finally got the world’s attention. In the crucible of AIDS, the modern gay rights movement is born. By the year 2000, almost 500,000 people in North America have died of AIDS, but gay activists have also pushed for a drug regimen that has transformed AIDS from a death sentence to a chronic disease. Through the work of groups like ACT-UP, AIDS finally forces the issue of homosexual equality, and it leads directly to the increasing embrace and acceptance of gay people into heterosexual society. HOW WE GOT GAY takes us into the gay rights movement of the 21st century. Now the movement has evolved into a powerful network of disciplined, top-down, media-savvy, Ivy League-staffed organizations that know how to operate the levers of power. These new gay organizations co-opt conventional political weapons: self-selected candidates, political action committees, black-tie fund-raisers, research institutes and lobbyists. In the words of Fred Sainz, director of Communications at the Human Rights Campaign, “we sell gay rights the way Kellogg’s sells cereal”. The new generation of gay and lesbian activists is now demanding full equal rights under the law. It is no longer just a fight to be allowed to exist and be left alone. They want marriage and family recognition, equal tax laws, employment protection, and hundreds of other rights denied to homosexuals. And they are winning. Today gay people in the Western world live in an era of unimaginable freedom compared to earlier times. With support for gay marriage at an all time high, with antigay laws increasingly going down to defeat in the courts, and with young gay men and women able to come out earlier than ever, it is in many ways a Golden Age of gay liberation.

The 5 STEPS for Coming Out! Mental Health Help with Kati Morton

06:58
Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy Today I am going to talk about coming out! How do we even approach this?!? Before I even get started I just want to make sure that you know each and every one of you will have your own process of coming out. Maybe you come out in your teens, maybe you only tell one person, maybe you never come out, or maybe you don't come out until you are much older. Whatever the case may be, today I just want to give you some helpful tips if this is something you are considering. First! Consider your own safety and quality of life. I know this may sound extreme, but because this time can feel very vulnerable and we are sharing something very close to us, I want to make sure that we share it with people who care about us and love us. That way we lower the risk of us being bullied or having someone respond in a negative way. Some questions to consider: 1. Am I sure I am LGBTQ? Take your time with it. There is no rush to label yourself something, until you know what it is you want to say. 2. Why am I coming out? Am I doing this because I want to and feel ready to do it? 3. Can I deal with people's varying responses to it? We never know how someone is going to respond, or how much time it may take for them to express how they feel. So make sure you are able to give them that time and aren't hurt by it. Here are the 5 steps to coming out! 1. Get prepared. Let's start thinking about it and bringing up other people who are LGBTQ in the media and gauge how people respond to it. 2. Practice! This can really help us get what it is we want to say across. We want to make sure they understand what we are trying to say so let's practice that so we don't forget something or have our words come out wrong. 3. Pick someone. Usually it's best to pick one or two people. Usually someone in your life who you are really close to and who is supportive of you and all that you have wanted to do. 4. Do it!! Pick a time and place that isn't stressful and give yourself the time to talk about it. That way no one is rushed or stressed out. You can actually tell them what you want and talk about it. 5. Be patient! I know this can be so so so hard! But sometimes it can take people awhile to know what to say or how they feel about it. Be okay with giving them this time. I hope that you found some of this information helpful and if coming out is something you are ready for or considering, pick up the book "The Survival Guide for LGBTQ Teens" it is a great resource. xox MY FREE WORKBOOKS: Self-Harm workbook http://goo.gl/N7LtwU Eating Disorder workbook http://goo.gl/DjOmkC My SCHEDULE: MONDAY - New video release http://goo.gl/OUEsgM TUESDAY - Tumblr Tuesday Vlog #KatiFAQ - https://goo.gl/79fMfa WEDNESDAY - Website & YouTube Vlog #KatiFAQ - https://goo.gl/CIp9b9 THURSDAY - Twitter Thursday Vlog #KatiFAQ - https://goo.gl/kL7ZjX FRIDAY - Facebook Friday Vlog #KatiFAQ - https://goo.gl/kjYLeR My PO Box: 1223 Wilshire Blvd. #665 Santa Monica, CA 90403 OTHER: My Website: https://www.katimorton.com Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/katimorton Tumblr: https://www.katimorton.tumblr.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/katimorton1 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/katimorton1 Help us caption & translate this video! http://amara.org/v/GC5D/ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Mitchell Davis talks Agoraphobia, OCD & Panic Attacks | On The Couch Ep. 3 with Kati Morton" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra8gUzMUuXY -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Gay is a mental disorder

06:55
This shows without boundaries sexual exploration and desire to find other stimulus will ultimately remove any limits that are presently a moral boundary. Homosexuality is only the beginning of immoral acts involving sex. Homosexuality and other self serving and self centered special rights have opened Pandora's box. Humanity, especially liberal types learn these facts after the damage has been done. We had a moral boundary that was intact until homosexual lobbyist and crooked politicians allowed homosexuals to invade a sacred institution called marriage.
