You Need This Tool - Episode 86 | Free Tube Chassis Tools

05:57
On this episode of you need this tool, I feature a tool you can make your self that is used when building any kind of tube chassis or part. The Tools I Use - https://www.amazon.com/shop/thefabforums Welcome to The Fab Forums. My name is Kyle Voss and I produce Custom Motorsports Fabrication content of all forms for you. Carbon Fiber, TIG Welding, Metal Shaping, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Choppers, and everything in between. I work hard to bring you new content on a weekly basis. Here are some of the builds you can find on this channel. I have built several Chevy trucks on this channel. The first was my 1964 C10 named Crown Spoyal and the most recent C10 truck project was the 1969 I currently have named the Black Pearl. I am also finishing up a custom twin turbo Ford Mustang build I call the Gray Goose. It’s a 400 cubic inch Windsor style engine with twin 70mm turbos. I am hoping to make around the 1000 horse power mark to the tires on this particular build. Last but not least is the one off custom hot rod build called the Bibbster. This is what I call a modern day hot rod. It’s made from an old Ford Mustang foxbody, but made to look like an old school open wheeled hot rod. I also feature other fabricators and shops like Cutworm Specialties hand formed aluminum wide body kit for a BMW e46. Jeb Greenstone has also built a twin turbo, coyote powered model A style hot rod from scratch, and is currently building a Toyota TE72 wagon drift car powered by a 1UZ Lexus v8. Jeb’s custom fabrication skills are fun to watch and always make for good videos. Check out my playlist to see some or all of these builds. Well, I've decided I want to design and build a new chassis for my Baja. This time around I'm going to design it first on the computer and then build it. However I'm going to share the design with whoever wants it and I'm showing everyone the design before I build it so I can get some feedback before I commit to the build.

This video is step by step version of the build in great detail. You will be able to see the build quality of the chassis as well as how to put it together. Here is a link to the 1st part of this build: https://youtu.be/6QmACdbRbHM Here is a link to the 2nd part of the long build: https://youtu.be/nC20pMkNcp0 And finally here is a link to a comical sped up version of the build, purely for entertainment: https://youtu.be/-6PdFCArphg Also: During our build video we mention the special that RSeat is offering to our viewers. This deal allow anyone who purchase ANY chassis and ANY monitor stand together from RSeat to get a FREE upgrade of their choice for the rig they purchased. This special does NOT work like a normal discount code. To use this offer, go to the RSeat store at http://www.rseat.net/ and select your region. Fill your shopping cart with a chassis and monitor stand. And in the notes write in "SIMPIT DEAL - I want a free shifter upgrade" and Rseat will take care of the rest.

Model A Ford Hot Rod Chassis / Frame Plans Using C4 Corvette Suspension

07:18
A short video of my hot rod chassis or frame plans using 1984 - 87 C4 Corvette suspension parts for a 1928 - 31 Model A Ford high boy. The plans can be easily adapted my many other hot rod, street rod, or rat rod applications or designs. This project basically cost my time. I purchased a wrecked 1986 Corvette Indy Pace car convertible on eBay, kept what I needed for my build and sold everything else including the wrecked and very stripped body. This in the end resulted in very tidy profit. The plans are available for FREE on my website http;//1929fordhotrod.com . The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_frame A frame is the main structure of the chassis of a motor vehicle. All other components fasten to it; a term for this design is body-on-frame construction. In 1920, other than a few cars based on motorcycles, every motor vehicle had a frame. Since then, nearly all cars have shifted to unit-body construction, while nearly all trucks and buses still use frames... Construction There are three main designs for frame rails. Their cross-sections include: - C-shaped - Boxed - Hat C-shape By far the most common, the C-rail has been used on nearly every type of vehicle at one time or another. It is made by taking a flat piece of steel (usually ranging in thickness from 1/8" to 3/16") and rolling both sides over to form a c-shaped beam running the length of the vehicle. Boxed Originally, boxed frames were made by welding two matching c-rails together to form a rectangular tube. Modern techniques, however, use a process similar to making c-rails in that a piece of steel is bent into four sides and then welded where both ends meet. In the 1960s, the boxed frames of conventional American cars were spot-welded here and there down the seam; when turned into NASCAR "stock car" racers, the box was continuously welded from end to end for extra strength (as was that of the Land-Rover from its first series). Hat Hat frames resemble a "U" and may be either right-side-up or inverted with the open area facing down. Not commonly used due to weakness and a propensity to rust, however they can be found on 1936-1954 Chevrolet cars and some Studebakers. Abandoned for a while, the hat frame gained popularity again when companies started welding it to the bottom of unibody cars, in effect creating a boxed frame. Design Features While appearing at first glance as a simple hunk of metal, frames encounter great amounts of stress and are built accordingly. The first issue addressed is beam height, or the height of the vertical side of a frame. The taller the frame, the better it is able to resist vertical flex when force is applied to the top of the frame. This is the reason semi-trucks have taller frame rails than other vehicles instead of just being thicker. Another factor considered when engineering a frame is torsional resistance, or the ability to resist twisting. This, and diamonding (one rail moving backwards or forwards in relation to the other rail), are countered by crossmembers. While hat-shaped crossmembers are the norm, these forces are best countered with "K" or "X"-shaped cross members....

Crunch saw Fast and Furious, and effective derailed abuse by taking the "in honor of Paul Walker" route. Rudy from Florida calls in about some Florida racing on goings, and who is also a Coast Chassis customer. That called leads into the costs of a small tire stock suspension type chassis in a class like X25. This leads to Mike explaining just how much he misses building engines. The guys are talking to Mike Murillo, Ken Herring, and Tim from Coast for future episodes.

The chief engineer on the project, Shinichi Sahara, used his experience as a former MotoGP technical manager and project manager to develop a new power-plant that produces 202PS at 13,200rpm – Suzuki’s most powerful GSX-R engine, ever – to make sure the GSX-R1000 can reclaim its crown as the king of sportsbikes. CHASSIS Both versions of the new GSX-R1000 use a brand new aluminium frame that is 10% lighter than the frame of the previous model. It is also 20mm narrower at its widest point that previous generation’s frame, making the new model more agile. There’s also a new swingarm with optimised rigidity to improve handling performance. Suspending the GSX-R1000R is the latest generation of Showa’s Balance Free front forks and rear shock, which give more controlled performance and improve front-end feel. The GSX-R1000 model utilises Showa’s Big Piston front forks and Showa rear shock. Front brakes are radially mounted Brembo monobloc calipers, but with new, larger Brembo discs. The 320mm discs use five T-drive and five floating pins, help to reduce lateral movement under braking. New bodywork is MotoGP-inspired, and is designed with aerodynamic efficiency first and foremost, improving both handling and top speed. The air intake ducts are positioned closer to the centre of the fairing, where the air pressure is higher, and are also larger than the previous GSX-R1000’s, increasing airflow into the air box.

Creating Wood Framing in SketchUp - The SketchUp Essentials #42

13:02
Learn several ways to create building framing in SketchUp in this SketchUp Essentials Tutorial! ♦DOWNLOAD PROFILE BUILDER♦ http://www.thesketchupessentials.com/profilebuilder ♦DOWNLOAD HOUSEBUILDER♦ http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=556663#p556663 ♦SUPPORT ME♦ http://www.thesketchupessentials.com/support PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE ------------------------------------------------------------ Several Ways to Generate Framing in SketchUp One of the most powerful things that people use SketchUp for is modeling buildings. Architects use it to draw full architectural models. In addition, contractors use SketchUp to generate drawings that can be used for actual construction. Sometimes, you may want to generate the actual framing involved with a building for various reasons – you may want to see how a building will be constructed, or you may want to use your model to generate the actual quantities of building materials required. Whatever the purpose, this video will show you several different ways to create framing in SketchUp. The first is the simplest – you can just build the framing yourself by modeling 2x4’s, top and bottom plates. For a very simple building, this may be the best option – you can generate your plates using extrusion or the follow me tool, then model your 2 x 4’s as components. This would allow you to pick and choose what pieces you want to put where. Probably the best way to start with this would be to draw your floor plan as a rectangle first. You could then use the follow me tool to quickly generate a bottom plate. Then, you could model your 2 x 4 once as a component, then use the move tool in copy mode to generate your framing. This is definitely a fine way to do this. However, it can get a bit time consuming. Sometimes, it’s better to find an extension to do some of the work for you. The extension you pick really depends on what you’re trying to do. Your options range from very simple to very complex, and also from low cost to high cost. If you’re trying to just model a building for visual purposes, there’s an extension you can download called house builder. It allows you to set your framing type, as well as adding doors and windows. It’s a free extension, and it seems to be very powerful. It allows for going back and editing of walls and windows as well as the creation of roofs. This is a great tool for visual building of framing. The downside (if you consider it a downside) is that the buildings aren’t “smart,” meaning you can’t generate quantities out of them. Another option for something like this is profile builder. Profile builder is a smart profile building extension that allows you to build different smart assemblies, so that it would automatically generate everything from framing to drywall, etc. This is great if you’re trying to get actual, useable quantities out of your wall framing assemblies, because you can actually run a report that generates those quantities for you. The downside to this extension is that you can’t really set it up to generate doors and windows, so you’d have to model them separately and then insert them into your model manually. There are other extensions you can use for this as well. My understanding is that you can generate full BIM (Building Information Models) out of an extension called Plus-Spec, but it’s a very powerful, very expensive extension probably more well-suited for full time contractors and construction/design professionals. That’s where I’m going to wrap up today’s video ------------------------------------------------------------ More SketchUp tutorials and resources at http://www.thesketchupessentials.com Check Us Out On - Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/easysketchup Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/thesketchupessentials Pinterest - http://www.pinterest.com/easysketchup/
