Dr. William Johnson- Strawberry Allergy
When Mike came to my office for the first time, he was allergic to strawberries or any product that contained strawberries. Everytime he ate or had any type of contatct with strawberries, his lips and tongue would swell up for three days. After only two treatments with the laser machine, he ate a container of straberry sorbet and put strawberry chopstick on his lips and had no reaction whatsoever.

Natural Treatment to Get Rid of Keratosis Pilaris (Chicken Skin)
Keratosis pilaris is a very common skin problem that causes hard, reddish or whitish bumps to appear on your skin. This problem normally doesn’t involve itchiness or pain and it can appear on any part of the body, although it is more common on the arms, thighs, face and buttocks. These little bumps are caused by a buildup of keratin, and are frequently confused with acne. Furthermore, they can also cause your skin to dry out, and make it look ashy or flaky. Keratosis pilaris normally disappears with time, but you can treat it in several different ways: Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar works wonders on keratosis pilaris. Its astringent properties help clear pores and cleanses skin. Mix one part apple cider vinegar with one part water and apply it directly onto the affected area. Let the mixture sit on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cool water. Try this remedy on a small portion of skin before applying it onto a larger area of your body, since some people can be very sensitive to this remedy. Yogurt Yogurt is very good at treating dry skin and improving your skin’s appearance. Put a little yogurt directly onto the affected area 15 minutes before taking a shower. This will help reduce dryness and temporarily get rid of the bumps. Rinse it off with cold or warm water. Milk Lactic acid found in milk can also be useful to treat keratosis pilaris, by soothing and hydrating dry skin. Take a milk bath by adding 2 to 3 cups of milk to your normal bathwater. Lay in the bath tub for at least 20 minutes. In order to treat the breakouts more effectively, apply a small quantity of milk directly on to the bumps. Oats Oats are a great way to sooth dry skin. They can also be used as a gentle exfoliant to help remove impurities and dead skin cells. Make a paste by mixing a little water with some oats. Put the paste on your face like a mask and let it sit for 15 minutes. Remove the mask carefully with a warm washrag and see the immediate results. Sour Cream Like the yogurt, sour cream also contains lactic acid. An exfoliant made out of sour cream and sugar can help remove dry skin without worsening your condition. Coconut Oil Coconut oil is an excellent natural moisturizer. It cleanses dry skin safely, and helps improve skin problems. Apply coconut oil directly onto your skin after bathing. You can repeat the application several times a day, as needed. Corn Allergy | What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms
Corn Allergy | What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms. source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms An allergy to corn occurs when your immune system mistakes corn or a corn product for something that’s harmful. In response, it releases antibodies called immunoglobulin E to neutralize the allergen. The next time you were to eat corn, your body would identify it and signal the immune system to release histamine and other chemicals. Allergy symptoms are caused by this reaction. However, this allergy is extremely rare. It often occurs because of cross-contamination with another allergen, such as soy. Trace amounts of soy can trigger a reaction in people who are very sensitive to it. Signs Allergic reactions to a particular food like corn can vary based on the individual. For some people, the reaction may be uncomfortable. For others, the reaction may be more severe and possibly life threatening. Symptoms may appear between minutes or hours and can include: 1. tingling or itchiness in the mouth 2. hives or eczema 3. swelling of lips, tongue, throat, face, or other parts of the body 4. difficulty breathing with wheezing or nasal congestion 5. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting 6. digestive problems like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea Severe Allergic Reaction A more severe allergic reaction to corn can result in anaphylaxis, which can be a life-threatening condition. Symptoms include: 1. loss of consciousness 2. a rapid and irregular pulse 3. shock 4. difficulty breathing due to swelling of the throat and air passages It’s important to seek medical help immediately if you’re allergic to corn and you experience any of these signs. Consult Your Doctor source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ Make an appointment with your doctor if you suffer any of these symptoms when eating corn or corn products. They’ll take a history of your symptoms, family health, and food allergies to determine if your allergic reaction is caused by corn or something else. Reading Labels in Ingredients Food products generally indicate when corn is included in the ingredients. Steer clear of anything with the words corn (such as corn flour or corn syrup), hominy, masa, or maize listed. Other ingredients that may indicate the presence of corn include: 1. caramel 2. dextrose 3. dextrin 4. fructose 5. malt syrup 6. modified food starch and vinegar Prevention source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ There is no way to cure allergies to a food product like corn, but there are ways to reduce the risks of allergic reactions. If you have already suffered a severe allergic reaction to corn in the past, wear a medical bracelet or necklace. This will help others know that you have an allergy to corn. The medical bracelet or necklace is helpful in situations where you have a strong allergic reaction and cannot communicate to others about your condition. That, in comparison to a medium-sized orange (62), a bowl of diced watermelon (45), or a cup of grapes (62) is a lot higher. So, if you’re looking for a low-calorie snack to indulge in every few hours, bananas may not be the best choice. Instead, fruits and veggies with high water content like watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, cucumber, lettuce, zucchini, cabbage, etc. make for better snack choices. They have fewer calories and high fiber content to keep you full for long. Migraine ! If you’re often troubled by excruciating migraine attacks, you may want to avoid including bananas in your daily diet. Tyramine, a substance found in many foods like cheese, fish, meats, and bananas is a trigger for migraine headaches, the University of Maryland Medical Centre reports. Hyperkalemia ! Hyperkalemia is a condition caused due to excess potassium in the blood and is identified through symptoms like uneven pulse rate, nausea, and irregular heartbeat that can even lead to heart attack. As per the Linus Pauling Institute of Oregon State University, a dosage of potassium greater than 18 g can cause hyperkalemia in adults. Tooth Decay ! Being high in starch, bananas can cause serious tooth decay if you don’t maintain proper dental hygiene. According to certain studies, bananas can be even more detrimental to your oral health as compared to chocolates, red licorice, and chewing gum. Drowsiness ! Always thought that beginning your day with a banana was a great idea? What you probably didn’t know was that bananas can make you feel drowsy, even if you’ve just started the day. They are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid that can reduce your mental performance and reaction time, apart from making you feel sleepy. Nerve Damage ! Since bananas contain vitamin B6 in high amounts, their overconsumption can result in nerve damage. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, consumption of more than 100 mg of vitamin B6 without prescription can result in nerve damage. Ragweed Allergy ! Ragweed allergy is a condition that causes your immune system to react when you inhale ragweed (weeds that grow throughout the United States) pollen grains. A person suffering from this allergy displays symptoms like swollen lips, irritated throat, swollen tongue, etc. People who are already suffering from ragweed allergy might experience similar symptoms upon consumption or even handling of bananas. Abdominal Pain ! If you indulge in bananas that aren’t ripe enough, you may end up with a severe stomach pain. You may also experience nausea along with the abdominal pain. Unripe bananas contain a high amount of resistant starch that takes a long time for your body to digest. You may also experience immediate vomiting or diarrhea. Constipation ! Shocked? Yes, we were shocked too on learning that bananas cause constipation! All along, we have known that bananas aid bowel movements, but the magic lies in how ripe the bananas are. Unripe or green bananas are rich in resistant starches, which can increase the risk of constipation. They even contain heavy doses of tannic acid that has an inhibitory effect on the digestive tract. Best Eczema Shampoo and Body Wash
FULL ECZEMA INFO AT: http://www.VanishEczema.net What is eczema? Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic allergic condition in which the skin develops areas of itchy, scaly rashes. What are the symptoms of eczema? Eczema can occur on almost any part of the body but is most common on the face, scalp, inside of elbows, knees, ankles, and hands. It typically appears as extremely itchy patches on the skin. Eczema can get worse when scratched; in fact, itchy skin may appear normal until scratched; the irritating action may then cause the characteristic rash and scales to develop. Other symptoms include: Areas of dry, leathery skin Blisters that ooze and crust over Redness and inflammation in the affected area Scratching can introduce infectious agents into the skin, leading to secondary complications including bacterial infection and permanent scars. What are the causes of eczema? Eczema is caused by a reaction similar to that of an allergy and can promote chronic inflammation. The condition will often wax and wane and accompany other allergic conditions such as asthma. In some cases, a specific substance, such as certain soaps, detergents, or metals, dust mites, and animal dander, can trigger eczema. For many people, however, there is no known allergen that causes this reaction. Eczema can be worsened by dry climates, exposure to water, temperature changes, and stress. Who is likely to develop eczema? Eczema is particularly common in infants and children. A person's risk of developing the problem also increases if he or she has a family history of eczema or allergic conditions such as asthma and hay fever. How is eczema diagnosed? Physicians usually diagnose eczema by conducting a physical exam and asking questions about the patient's symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and habits. What is the conventional treatment for eczema? Conventional doctors often recommend a combination of self-care techniques and medical therapies to treat eczema. First, people with eczema should avoid any potential triggers that appear to make symptoms worse. Take warm, not hot, showers or baths. Use soap as sparingly as possible, and apply a soothing, hypoallergenic moisturizer immediately after bathing. Physicians may also suggest using over-the-counter anti-itch lotions or low-potency steroid creams. When these measures don't alleviate eczema, the doctor may prescribe one or more of the following treatments: Steroids. Prescription steroid creams and ointments - and, in severe cases, oral steroid medications - can relieve the itching and inflammation of eczema, but they can have side effects such as skin thinning and are not recommended for long-term use. Immunomodulators. Newer prescription creams called calcineurin inhibitors (such as pimecrolimus and tacrolimus) work by modulating the body's immune response. Although these drugs don't have the same side effects as steroids, their long-term safety isn't yet clear. What therapies does http://www.VanishEczema.net recommend for eczema? In addition to the self-care approaches mentioned above, it is recommended considering the following natural treatments for eczema: Allergy is ultimately an inflammatory condition and diet can profoundly influence inflammation throughout the body. Follow an anti-inflammatory diet and avoid pro-inflammatory ingredients. Skin disorders are often strongly linked to psychological stress; conversely, stress-relieving techniques can often be extraordinarily effective in providing relief. Try visualization or hypnotherapy to take advantage of the mind/body connection in allergic skin disorders. Try aloe vera gel, calendula lotion or cream, and chaparral lotion on irritated skin. Take gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This unusual fatty acid is found in evening primrose oil, black currant oil and borage oil but is very hard to come by in the diet. GLA appears to have nourishing effects on skin, hair, and nails. Take 500 mg twice a day and expect to wait six to eight weeks to see results. Eliminate milk and all milk products, which may irritate the immune system. In addition, therapies in both homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine have proven effective for many skin conditions and are worth exploring. See the websites of the National Center for Homeopathy and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to find practitioners.

Food Allergy Testing - Bloomington, MN - Twin Cities - 952-891-2225
https://www.TwinCitiesFunctionalMedicine.com In this video we talk about FoodTest95™ which is our food sensitivity / intolerance testing system! We've been food testing patients for 10+ years! It's important to know the difference between a food allergy and a food sensitivity or food intolerance. A food allergy is dealing with the IgE portion of the immune system! This is the IMMEDIATE reaction. This is easy to determine because the response is right away. You may eat strawberries and get hives or a rash right away. Worst case scenario you eat shrimp and your throat closes shut...this is the anaphylactic response. Sometimes these people have to carry an epipen. In our case, we test for food sensitivities or intolerances using a system called FoodTest95™. It's done through a simple finger prick...it takes about 3 minutes...super simple and easy and roughly 100 foods are tested. In this case we're testing the IgG portion of the immune system which is the delayed immune response. This is the 10-12 hour...sometimes up to 72 hour delayed reaction. This time frame is simply too much to do any sort of elimination diet which is why we test! Who should be tested? - Weight challenges or weight loss resistance - Migraines - Chronic fatigue - Digestive challenges (leaky gut, IBS etc.) - Anxiety / Depression - Autoimmune conditions (lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis) - Back pain, muscle pain, joint pain, neck pain - Infertility - Skin problems (acne, psoriasis, eczema) - Fibromyalgia If you want to be tested just give our clinic a call. Remember, we see patients not only locally but nationally as well. 952-891-2225 https://www.TwinCitiesFunctionalMedicine.com #foodallergy #foodsensitivity

Cure your Eczema Scars At home naturally | Home Remedies for Eczema Scars
Cure your Eczema Scars At home naturally | Home Remedies for Eczema Scars Eczema is a chronic problem that causes inflammation of the skin. The exact cause of this condition is not known but it can be triggered by excessive stress, allergies, irritants, microbes, changes in weather, hormonal changes in the body and other factors. 1. Honey And Sugar Mixture. Honey can help you give a relief from eczema marks. After you wash the affected areas of your body, apply honey on them. Then you add crystallized sugar to honey, and scrub your eczema scars with this mixture. Finally, after 10 minutes, you rinse them off with cold water. Repeat this remedy daily until you can see your desired results. 2. Shea Butter And Lemon Juice. Using Shea butter and lemon juice in 2:1 ratio is known for lightening eczema scars. You simply rub the mixture on your marks and let it leave for the night. In the next morning, wash it with clean water. Use this home remedy to see how to get rid of eczema scars until you see the marks disappear. 3. Smelly Onion Extract. According to Polish research, mixing onion extract with aloe vera, and allantoin get rid of eczema scars nicely. You rub the mixture into the scars and eventually the scars will lighten. 4. Golden Strawberries. What do strawberries have to do with reducing eczema scars? If you make a strawberry paste and apply it directly to the scars it will reduce inflammation, pain, and redness. Eventually the scars will fade if you keep using this strawberry paste. 5. Chilly Milk. This remedy sounds questionable. But supposedly if you pour ice cold milk into a bowl and then you saturate a cloth in the milk. Apply he cloth directly to the eczema scars and this is supposed to reduce itching. You stop itching the scars eventually they will fade. New Eczema Treatment Fights Bacteria with More Bacteria
(DENVER, Colorado) – Eczema is the most common skin condition worldwide. Without effective treatment options, patients must often suffer a lifetime of painful, itchy skin. In a new clinical trial, researchers at National Jewish Health are exploring a surprising new approach - fighting bacteria with more bacteria. It may seem counterintuitive to apply bacteria to skin that is frequently plagued by bacterial infections, but the hope is that by applying good bacteria in a lotion to eczema patients’ skin, a healthy bacterial balance will be restored. “The beneficial bacteria actually makes natural antibiotics that kill staph aureus, the bad bacteria on the skin,” said Donald Leung, MD, head of the Division of Pediatric Allergy & Immunology at National Jewish Health. “We know that eczema patients don’t have the good bacteria on their skin that’s needed to kill staph aureus, which allows bad bacteria to multiple and take over.” The initial trial lasts one week, during which the patient applies the lotion twice a day. Researchers are then able to analyze patients’ skin DNA to see if the bad bacteria has been reduced. “The goal is that we eliminate the bad bacteria on their skin altogether,” said Leung. “The cream helps to restore the natural balance of bacteria on the skin, which will help create the barrier skin has to keep harmful bacteria out.” Leung says more research is needed, but the hope is that this will clear the skin of eczema patients, and ultimately lead to a long-term solution for those who suffer from eczema.
