Aseptic necrosis also has been reported in the knee joints. The estimated incidence of aseptic necrosis among long-term users of corticosteroids is 3%-4%. Patients taking corticosteroids who develop pain in the hips or knees should report the pain to their doctors promptly. Side Effects Of Fluconazole

03:25
Thank you for tuning into my video today. Today I’m going to talk about Fluconazole. Fluconazole is a pharmaceutical antifungal drug. It’s also known by the name of Diflucan. Fluconazole is also present in a vaginal cream called Canesten that many women tend to use. I’ve seen many patients over the years who’ve taken Diflucan. Some with reasonably good success, but in most case, the drug has been taken recurrently with very, very poor long-term results. The best result you’re going to get from any pharmaceutical drug usually is the very first time you take it. The body’s not used to the drug. It will have a powerful effect and give the desired result. But then what happens is the drug is discontinued, so then the symptoms come back, and the drug is used again and again and again. And eventually, the body builds resistance to Diflucan. The resistance is well documented. I’ve seen some patients who take this drug weekly or monthly for years on end with bad results. And in many cases, they end up with significant side effects, particularly hepatic or liver side effects because Diflucan affects Phase II or the glucoronidation pathway of the liver and it can make a person quite nauseous or sick. They can get skin reactions. They can get headaches. They can get insomnia. They can get a whole range of different side effects from Diflucan. I’ve got a pharmaceutical drug guide here and I’m going to read out some of the common side effects of Diflucan or fluconazole. Side effects include gastrointestinal upset, headaches, elevated liver function test, abnormal vision, skin odor, skin rashes, hot flashes, weakness, thirst, shaking in the body, polyuria, which means urinating a lot, renal pain or pain in the lower pain, kidney pain, dizziness, seizures, skin itching, sweating, fevers, drug eruptions, more skin rashes, sleeping disturbances and insomnia, nervousness, pain, female sexual dysfunction, menstrual disorders, respiratory disorders, deafness, heartburn, high blood pressure, liver damage. Why the hell would you want to take a drug that creates all these problems just to give you some temporary relief from a vaginal yeast infection or some kind of a yeast infection you might have? There are natural ways you can get on top of these infections without resorting to drugs. Have a look at yeastinfection.org for some natural solutions. If you’re thinking about an antifungal drug and you want to get some results but don’t want the side effects with it, have a look at the product I developed called Canxida. It’s going to be more powerful than fluconazole. You don’t need to take it for years on end. You’re not going to get all of these side effects that I’ve just read out here. It’s certainly worth a shot. Think about it. If you’re going to take fluconazole, take it once, but don’t take it recurrently. There’s no point in it. You’re wasting your time doing that. You’re only going to get drug resistance and also liver toxicity from taking it. I hope that answers a frequently asked question I get on this particular drug fluconazole. Thank you for tuning in.

Aciclovir

02:02
Yeastrol Candida Cleanse FREE. Click Here: http://bit.ly/yeastrol18 Aciclovir | What is Aciclovir ? Acyclovir is a guanosine analog antiviral drug that acts as an antimetabolite. Acyclovir is used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, varicella zoster (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles). Viral (HSV-1, HSV-2 and VZV) thymidine kinase converts acyclovir to the acyclovir monophosphate, which is then converted to the diphosphate by cellular guanylate kinase, and finally to the triphosphate by phosphoglycerate kinase, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase, and pyruvate kinase. Acyclovir triphosphate competitively inhibits viral DNA polymerase and competes with the natural deoxyguanosine triphosphate, for incorporation into viral DNA. Once incorporated, aciclovir triphosphate inhibits DNA synthesis by acting as a chain terminator. One may consider acyclovir to be a prodrug as it is metabolized to more active compounds. Aciclovir is selective and low in cytotoxicity as the cellular thymidine kinase of normal, uninfected cells does not use acyclovir effectively as a substrate. Acyclovir may cause nephrotoxicity (crystallization of acyclovir within renal tubules, elevation of serum creatinine, transient), and neurotoxicity (coma, hallucinations, lethargy, seizures, tremors). Nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity usually resolve after cessation of aciclovir therapy. However, there is no well-defined relationship between aciclovir concentrations in the blood and these adverse effects. Are Over the Counter and Prescription Strength Medications for Eczema Safe?

01:32
FULL ECZEMA INFO AT: http://www.VanishEczema.net What is eczema? Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic allergic condition in which the skin develops areas of itchy, scaly rashes. What are the symptoms of eczema? Eczema can occur on almost any part of the body but is most common on the face, scalp, inside of elbows, knees, ankles, and hands. It typically appears as extremely itchy patches on the skin. Eczema can get worse when scratched; in fact, itchy skin may appear normal until scratched; the irritating action may then cause the characteristic rash and scales to develop. Other symptoms include: Areas of dry, leathery skin Blisters that ooze and crust over Redness and inflammation in the affected area Scratching can introduce infectious agents into the skin, leading to secondary complications including bacterial infection and permanent scars. What are the causes of eczema? Eczema is caused by a reaction similar to that of an allergy and can promote chronic inflammation. The condition will often wax and wane and accompany other allergic conditions such as asthma. In some cases, a specific substance, such as certain soaps, detergents, or metals, dust mites, and animal dander, can trigger eczema. For many people, however, there is no known allergen that causes this reaction. Eczema can be worsened by dry climates, exposure to water, temperature changes, and stress. Who is likely to develop eczema? Eczema is particularly common in infants and children. A person's risk of developing the problem also increases if he or she has a family history of eczema or allergic conditions such as asthma and hay fever. How is eczema diagnosed? Physicians usually diagnose eczema by conducting a physical exam and asking questions about the patient's symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and habits. What is the conventional treatment for eczema? Conventional doctors often recommend a combination of self-care techniques and medical therapies to treat eczema. First, people with eczema should avoid any potential triggers that appear to make symptoms worse. Take warm, not hot, showers or baths. Use soap as sparingly as possible, and apply a soothing, hypoallergenic moisturizer immediately after bathing. Physicians may also suggest using over-the-counter anti-itch lotions or low-potency steroid creams. When these measures don't alleviate eczema, the doctor may prescribe one or more of the following treatments: Steroids. Prescription steroid creams and ointments - and, in severe cases, oral steroid medications - can relieve the itching and inflammation of eczema, but they can have side effects such as skin thinning and are not recommended for long-term use. Immunomodulators. Newer prescription creams called calcineurin inhibitors (such as pimecrolimus and tacrolimus) work by modulating the body's immune response. Although these drugs don't have the same side effects as steroids, their long-term safety isn't yet clear. What therapies does http://www.VanishEczema.net recommend for eczema? In addition to the self-care approaches mentioned above, it is recommended considering the following natural treatments for eczema: Allergy is ultimately an inflammatory condition and diet can profoundly influence inflammation throughout the body. Follow an anti-inflammatory diet and avoid pro-inflammatory ingredients. Skin disorders are often strongly linked to psychological stress; conversely, stress-relieving techniques can often be extraordinarily effective in providing relief. Try visualization or hypnotherapy to take advantage of the mind/body connection in allergic skin disorders. Try aloe vera gel, calendula lotion or cream, and chaparral lotion on irritated skin. Take gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This unusual fatty acid is found in evening primrose oil, black currant oil and borage oil but is very hard to come by in the diet. GLA appears to have nourishing effects on skin, hair, and nails. Take 500 mg twice a day and expect to wait six to eight weeks to see results. Eliminate milk and all milk products, which may irritate the immune system. In addition, therapies in both homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine have proven effective for many skin conditions and are worth exploring. See the websites of the National Center for Homeopathy and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to find practitioners.

Stress Hives Treatment - How To Get Rid Of A Stress Rash FAST!

03:32
STRESS HIVES is also known as a stress rash and occurs when you have too much stress and anxiety in your life. Learn which stress hives treatment works best at http://www.hives.org/stress-hives.php What Are Stress Hives? Stress hives are red, raised swollen areas and bumps (AKA stress bumps) that appear on your skin, that develop due to too much stress or anxiety in your life. Stress hives can itch like crazy, giving you the feeling like ants or spiders are crawling over your skin. The only way to get rid of your stress hives is to remove all the stress and anxiety form your life. Because this is a near impossibility for most people, there is one stress hives treatment, known as OxyHives, that can be taken that reduces the swelling and itchy feeling within 2 hours. Can Stress Cause Hives? Definitely! A stress rash can occur anytime you are feeling over stressed and anxious. Too much stress in your life will adversely affect your immune system which will cause it to start sending histamine to fight what is ailing you. Unfortunately, stress isn't something that the immune system can "fight off", so the end result is that you get stress induced hives. In essence, those itchy bumps all over your face, neck, chest, arms, legs and pretty much your whole body sometimes, are caused by stress. Learn what causes hives at http://www.hives.org/hives-causes.php What Are The Symptoms of a Stress Rash? The symptoms of a stress rash include red bumps and swollen areas on your skin that seem to appear randomly. Quite often, they are incredibly itchy and can also have a prickly or burning sensation when touched. Don't scratch them! Don't be surprised if your stress rash appears on your face, neck and chest, as that is where I get mine. Others get them on their arms and legs. Stress hives can be as small as a pencil eraser or as BIG as a dinner plate! Often the smaller hives meld with the bigger hives to make one big messy outbreak that looks absolutely terrible. However, with the right over the counter medication, like OxyHives, you'll be able to get rid of them in no time. How To Get Rid Of Hives Fast If you want to remove stress hives from your life forever, then all you need to do is remove all the stress and anxiety form your life. If only it were that easy, right? As I discovered from my dermatologist, the only treatment that will make your stress bumps go away for good is OxyHives. It takes 1-2 hours, but it works for me each and every time. With 2 small kids, I may not be able to remove all the stress form my life, but at least I can remove the rash and hives that appear when I get stressed out. Learn more about OxyHives and how to get rid of your hives fast at http://www.hives.org/how-to-get-rid-of-hives.php If this video has been helpful, please give me a thumbs up :-) And feel free to watch the other videos in my channel as well at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQG18x4cek_ntcAQHzL4RrQ

Warning: Dangerous Fish Oil Omega 3 Side Effects

01:00
4 IMPORTANT steps to follow: 1. Make sure that the supplement is made in the USA or Europe. 2. Make sure that it has DHA docosahexaenoic acid in it. It is an expensive but important ingredient and cheap, low quality manufacturers avoid it. 3. Certified certified and CERTIFIED always use certified food supplements - it is your quality guarantee. 4. You know that high quality fish is expensive. Quality fish oil capsules should cost at least 35-40$ per bottle (50-60 caps.). If that would put you to an uncomfortable situation financially please look for another supplement. Brands I trust and recommend to my patients and friends/family. 1. http://www.healthyware.com - I've been buying their supplements for my family for years and I must say they always deliver what they promise - quality. The only unpleasant problem with them is that due to their popularity they are often out of stock. Their official website is http://www.healthyware.com Omega three fish oil is healthy choice for everyone. Nonetheless fish oil minor side effects can happen if you take it in too high applications. One of the most typical side-effects is that fishy belch that leaves a particularly upsetting taste in one's mouth. Even, in small dosages, this fishy belch can happen. The nice news is this is fixable. When you purchase the proper quality omega3 supplement, you need to get that upsetting belching or fish breadth. Another possible complication is bleeding. Higher doses can end up in nose bruising and bleeds. This is due to the fact that this particular product can forestall the blood from clots. Taking the incorrect sort of fish oil, specifically cod liver oil, can cause over consuming of A vitamin. Vitamin is an exceedingly full of cod liver oil. Taking an excessive amount of may cause liver damage, dry skin and headaches. So once more, it's very important the best quality of omega 3 fish oil be used. Diarrhea is an additional possible consequence of over intake of this particular supplement. One of the most important concern about using this particular supplement may be the pollutants that could be inside a capsule. This amount of fishes live in polluted waters, those contaminants are moved through the fish towards the omega-3 fatty acids capsule. Then when you are taking a capsule, you might be eating dangerous pollutants like mercury and lead which can do serious damage to your fitness But again, by consuming the right quality product, it'll be unnecessary to fret about consuming these pollutants. Why? Because they will not be in it. It would've been removed by the processing. Cod liver oil sadly isn't of the right quality. Bottom line, be careful about what type of fish you obtain your fish oil from and your dosages. Taking about 6 a day is counseled for getting the wonderful health benefits and not one of the minor side effects. fish oil side effect fish oil side effects side effects fish oil fish oil side effects acne fish oil side effects bleeding fish oil side effects bloating fish oil side effects children benefits of fish oil capsules best fish oil capsules carlson fish oil capsules eskimo 3 fish oil capsules fish oil capsules fish oil capsules 1000 mg fish oil capsules 1000mg fish oil capsules 1200 mg fish oil capsules 1400 mg fish oil capsules 2000 fish oil capsules acne fish oil capsules and weight loss fish oil capsules benefits fish oil capsules burpless fish oil capsules calories fish oil side effects constipation fish oil side effects depression fish oil side effects diarrhea fish oil side effects dogs fish oil side effects fish oil dosage fish oil side effects fish oil supplements fish oil side effects gas fish oil side effects headache fish oil side effects in dogs fish oil side effects in men best fish oil carlson fish oil fish oil fish oil (omega 3) side effects fish oil 1000mg fish oil and cholesterol fish oil benefits fish oil benefits and side effects fish oil capsules fish oil capsules damage your liver fish oil depression fish oil dosage fish oil dosage for dogs fish oil for dogs fish oil for kids fish oil capsules fish oil health benefits fish oil liquid

Breathlessness in the Older Adult: Is It Asthma?

59:27
Older adults may consider their breathlessness to be a frustrating but natural consequence of ageing, unaware that respiratory disease might be the cause. Yet the prevalence of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) both increase with age. The risk of dying from asthma also increases with age, and acute asthma attacks are more rapidly fatal in older adults. However, up to one-third of elderly people with asthma are not identified as such by their doctors through a combination of under-reporting of symptoms and complexity of diagnosis. COPD is also under-diagnosed in the elderly. This program will cover the differential diagnosis and management of asthma in older adults with breathlessness, with interrelated discussion of COPD. The distinction between asthma and COPD is important, even when they co-exist, as there are significant differences in the optimal management of each condition. Clinical case studies will be used to frame the discussion. Produced by the Rural Health Education Foundation http://www.rhef.com.au/

Just Say NO to Convenia

06:16
My cat Angelina was given a shot of Convenia 10 days before her death. She developed a high fever, lethargy, dopiness & anorexia- 7 days later she was severely anemic & 10 days later she was gone: there was no sign of anemia in her blood work prior to this. She was very ill, with possible FeLV & choleangiocarcinoma of the liver, which came as a total surprise. She had what seemed to be a cold and 2 weeks later, only 10 days after Convenia she was gone. I believe she was fatally ill, but also believe Convenia caused a severe anemic reaction in her. Please don't risk the life of your cat or dog- go to the Facebook Convenia Adverse reactions page for more information about the harm caused by Convenia. If your cat or dog is having a reaction to Convenia you can try aggressive probiotic treatment to counteract it but consult with a dvm before trying this. Please report any adverse reactions to Pfizer and to the FDA as well as asking your dvm to make an official report to Pfizer. If your cat or dog has passed away after Convenia please also do a necropsy to determine the cause of death and to see if Convenia played a role. Just say NO to Convenia- lets take this drug off the market by boycotting it!! Pfizer has been offering to pay for costs for some cats who have been damaged by Convenia, they know that it causes severe reactions. What they need to do is take Convenia off the market completely. There are PLENTY of safe alternatives to Convenia. Veterinarians need to be required to inform clients/patients about the severe reactions that have occurred in Pfizer's own foreign market study of Convenia. Pfizer Animal Health at 1-800-366-5288. FOREIGN MARKET EXPERIENCE: The following adverse events were reported voluntarily during post-approval use of the product in dogs and cats in foreign markets: death, tremors/ataxia, seizures, anaphylaxis, acute pulmonary edema, facial edema, injection site reactions (alopecia, scabs, necrosis, and erythema), hemolytic anemia, salivation, pruritus, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and inappetence. For a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or to report a suspected adverse reaction call Pfizer Animal Health at 1-800-366-5288. "High doses of Cefovecin sodium (Convenia) can cause nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, hepatitis, changes in the blood leukogram and thrombocytopenia." *This is from Pfizer or another drug promoter's own literature- unfortunately for some cats and dogs this happens with one NORMAL dose. Occasionally, cephalosporins and NSAIDs have been associated with myelotoxicity, thereby creating a toxic neutropenia4. Other hematological reactions seen with cephalosporins include neutropenia, anemia, hypoprothrombinemia, thrombocytopenia, prolonged prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT), platelet dysfunction and transient increases in serum aminotransferases. http://www.noconvenia.com/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Convenia-adverse-reactions-in-catsfelines-and-dogscanines/118697391502152 http://www.catinfo.org/?link=convenia http://consciouscat.net/2011/09/26/convenia-for-cats-sacrificing-safety-for-convenience/ http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100325065056AAtW1dH http://www.dogheirs.com/drbenzene/posts/114-convenia http://www.fda.gov/downloads/AnimalVeterinary/Products/ApprovedAnimalDrugProducts/FOIADrugSummaries/ucm062340.pdf Here is Chickie Haute's treatment for severe Convenia reactions: I have reason to believe why Convenia is killing pets. The antibiotic overwhelms the body and kills too much good and bad bacteria too quickly and for too long. Two of my cats experienced serious problems with Convenia, but we got them on a very aggressive oral probiotic therapy within hours of the injection and gave them probiotics every three hours and brought them back! They were fine by the third day. It was very touch and go without the assistance of vets but we stayed on top of it. Aggressive probiotic therapy needs to be continued for at least 6 months while the drug remains in the body. Please share this information with your vets and get them to first, not use Convenia for off-label purposes and second, petition the FDA for stricter labeling and warnings and third, to prescribe probiotics for use starting same day as the injection to prevent risk of body imbalance! Thank you for your attention. Cheers, Chickie Haute UPDATE: A necropsy at Cornell Veterinary Hospital determined that they think Angie had acute myleoid leukemia and adenoma/carcinoma of the liver. However, they deny that Convenia caused the anemia, not because it can't but because it has not been reported to cause anemia. This isn't true- my research found several events of anemia reactions in cats after Convenia was administered and clearly this drug is known to cause anemic reactions. I plan to provide them with the information I have gathered, hopefully this will help get the word out about the dangers of Convenia.

Home Remedies To Cure Bronchitis

02:38
Clic Here: http://bronchitis-home-remedy.lir25.com - Home remedies to Cure Bronchitis The viruses that cause bronchitis can be passed to others much the same way cold and flu viruses are: An infected person coughs, spraying viral particles either into the air, where they can be breathed in by others, or onto their own hands, where they can be picked up when the person shakes hands with others. There are some home remedies that you can use: Lemons These help rid the respiratory system of bacteria and mucus. Make a cup of lemon tea by grating 1 teaspoon lemon rind and adding it to 1 cup boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes. Or, you can boil a lemon wedge. Strain into a cup and drink. For a sore throat that comes from coughing, add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to 1 cup warm water and gargle. This helps bring up phlegm. Bay Leaf It does act as an expectorant and is best taken in tea. To make the tea, tear a leaf (fresh or dried) and steep in 1 cup boiling water. Another bronchitis remedy with bay leaf is to soak some leaves in hot water and apply as a poultice to the chest. Cover with a kitchen towel. As it cools, rewarm. Savory This potent, peppery herb is said to rid the lungs of mucus. Use it as a tea by adding 1/2 teaspoon savory to 1 cup boiling water. Drink only once a day. Thyme This herb helps rid the body of mucus, strengthens the lungs to fight off infection, and acts as a shield against bacteria. Use it dried as a seasoning or make a tea by adding 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon thyme (it's a very strong herb, so you don't need much) to 1 cup boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes and sweeten with honey. If you have thyme oil on hand, dilute it (2 parts olive or corn oil to 1 part thyme oil) and rub on the chest to cure congestion. Cure Digestion and Melt Pounds with This Wonder Food (and it's REAL), #79

54:38
Dr. Michael Ash goes into detail explaining the correlation between gut health and chronic illnesses. He provides some very good tips to prevent and reverse illnesses and talks about one very specific fruit we should all be consuming (and is probably sitting on every countertop in America right now). He's scientifically explains everything, but in a way we can all understand.   What should we know about the mucosal immune system? The vast majority of people in the world will die of inflammatory chronic illnesses. The primary mechanism for making those conditions develop is an up-regulation of the immune system. And the largest part of our immune system is the referred to mucosal immune system. In simple terms, it's all the tissues in our body that are wet: eyes, mouth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, liver and kidneys. All these have fluids over the surface performing roles. We share all the cells in them with creatures like bacteria, viruses, worms and sometimes parasites. Some are helpful and some are problematic.   The outside world reaches in to us primarily through the mucosal immune system. The better that system is to interpret the outside world, the more reliable we can be in terms of our health. The mucosal system is our body's diplomat, taking charge and care of our body.   What can we do to prepare our mucosal immune system to be the best? Look at our digestive tract first. What we are putting in our body is very important in terms of how our body is going to act. First what we eat is important. Consume foods that have messages that our body recognizes. And then, what we drink. If our system does not receive foods that our body recognizes (plant based foods grown in good soil), our body's response is to produce inflammation, acting as a defense mechanism. Simply getting older we produce more inflammation. So we should consume counter regulatory defenses as we age.   So what foods should we consume? Plant based foods carry messages that animal based foods do not. So the more plant based foods we consume, the better prepared our bodies will be.   Vegetables that are slightly bitter in their content are more densely packed with those keys that our immune system is looking for than those that are sweeter. Crunchy veggies like brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, parsnips, etc. which are stiff. Can be cooked or steamed, 3 to 4 times a week. These are remarkable! They are miraculous to our body to protect us against risk. If we don't consume these foods, we can survive but we cannot survive effectively. Therefore, other risks and challenges to our immune system are much more difficult to turn off and take under control. This then manifests into chronic ill health like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, dementia, Alzheimer's, eye dysfunction, problems of reproduction and lots of gastrointestinal issues (IBS, bloating, diarrhea, cancer).   Fruits that contain those good messages for our bodies, like the veggies mentioned above are apples. Eating apples can be medicinal. Cook them by cleaning them, peel, cut into cubes, drop in a pan and cook with cinnamon and raisins and water, simmer (about 6 apples), soften and loose shape but not completely disappear. Referred to as stewed apples or applesauce. You'll see a gelatinous fluid called pectin. Pectin is a raw material for bacteria inside the gastrointestinal tract. When fed with pectin they manufacture fatty acids. The organisms look for the pectin and produce a substrate, the most powerful anti-inflammatory chemical a human can produce. A study done showed that consuming 3 apples a day was the same as taking 10 mg of prednisone in the treatment of inflammatory gut problems, preventing illnesses that can ultimately create cancer. Recommend 2 to 3 apples a day cooked, if you're ill. For prevention, 1 a day. Raw is not the same as if it's cooked. Make it for dessert and feed everyone!!     Get your FREE download here, Review Article: Is This a Perfect Functional Meal for Mucosal Tolerance, provided by Dr. Michael Ash to learn more about apples, the scientific rationale behind it, allergy protection, antibiotic impact, phenolic compounds, apple skins, inflammation control, the brain benefits, his applesauce recipe and more.   What other things can we do to prevent inflammation in our body? Avoid additional sugars. Anything that has been refined, for example sugar, corn and other sources, the less you consume of them the lower your risk of developing long term chronic illness.   Vegetables and fruits can convey benefits. So can meat, it does have a role in humans, but make it grass fed proteins. The Mediterranean style diet receives high votes because statistically it proves to be successful.   Fats comes in many forms. Simplistically, fat has been vilified and is...

Cat falling over, losing balance (new video) (neurologic disease)

01:27
This is recent video (March 2014) of my 5-year old cat losing his balance from undiagnosed neurologic disease. The videos referenced below are from late 2013, so you can see the progression of the disease. His balance is getting worse and worse, but he doesn't seem to be in pain, his appetite is normal, and he still likes to play. And as you can see, he gets up and keeps going each time he falls. He's a fighter! *********** My 5-year old cat Churro is suffering from an undiagnosed degenerative neurologic disease. He started developing balance problems when he was only 2 ½ years old by miscalculating distances when he tried to jump. At 3 ½ years, he was losing his ability to jump at all; his gait started to change into a high-stepped, deliberate gait; and he was having a harder time coordinating his steps to run. He also started having periodic seizures where his body would freeze up for several seconds (I call these episodes "seizures" for lack of another word, but the vets tell me they're not seizures because his body isn't convulsing, he isn't foaming at the mouth, etc.) These symptoms kept progressing, and now at 5 years old, he: • Can't run or jump at all; • Falls over when he walks (see other video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KTy5GTH_OI&feature=youtu.be); • Has difficulty walking and controlling his legs (it's like he's losing the ability to control where his legs go and his back legs are atrophying); • Is losing the ability to perceive distance because his nose bumps into things when he sniffs them; • Has a hard time focusing and his head will bob a little bit sometimes when he's trying to focus (you can see a little bit of his head bob in THIS VIDEO at 18 seconds); And look how his body wobbles when he walks between the couch and the wall in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxK9S7pHUDg&feature=youtu.be; • Has seizure episodes where his whole body tenses up, his legs stick straight out, his head pulls back, and his eye go wide and blank for about 5-10 seconds. His whole body turns rock solid and every muscle tenses up. Here is a seizure caught on video (but it's slightly blurry: http://youtu.be/wpV-FchJxeA). There is also a slight example of his body freezing up in this video at 16 seconds(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svnlg2SJo6Q); • Drops his head straight down to the ground after he looks up or backwards, and when he's coming out of his seizures. (you can see an example of his head dropping down to the ground after looking backwards at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNEMBY3feMY); and • Muscles twitch a lot when he's lying down (see this video at 3, 8, 18, 21, and 27 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf0ywEMkZxQ). Despite all of this, Churro is still the same ornery and fun-loving cat he has always been, which is why it's so incredibly sad and painful to watch him deteriorate from this undiagnosed neurologic disease. TREATMENT: Churro has been to three different neurologists (one at a vet school), and several internists to try to figure out what's going on. He's had a slew of tests and has been on every antibiotic imaginable in case it was a brain infection, but the tests were inconclusive and no drugs helped him. The final diagnosis was simply that he has degenerative brain disease (degenerative cerebellar abiotrophy?). I'd be really interested to see if anyone has any thoughts or ideas. TESTS/PROCEDURES: 1. Ear infection (April '12): treated and cured w/ DMSO drops. 2. CT scan (May '12) showed large mass in left nasal sinus and septum deviated to right. 3. Rhinoscopy (May '12) to clear out mass. Biopsy showed chronic rhinitis. 4. Cryptococcus test: normal 5. Toxoplasmosis test: normal 6. Thyroid test: normal 7. UPenn genetic testing: normal 8. MRI and CSF Spinal tap (August 8th, 2012): Brain normal, fluid normal. ANTIBIOTICS/DRUGS: Zeniquen, Chloramphenicol, Cefpodoxime, Levofloxacin, Doxycycline, Clindamycin, SMZ/TMP (sulfa-methoxazole trimethoprim), prednisone.
