Honor Ribbons-H1202 Marathon Singlet DFMC '09
On April 20, 2009, I will run the Boston Marathon wearing these ribbons on my race singlet. Each honors someone we love who has battled cancer. The color signifies the fight. Ribbons crafted in memory of those we've lost to cancer are printed in blue, because blue represents sky and sea, places where I dream perhaps they reside, waiting for us. Blue is also a color known to symbolize, among other things, loyalty, faith, truth and heaven. Ribbons crafted to honor and support those who have beaten or now struggle with cancer are printed in red, because red is the color of energy, strength, and determination. In heraldry lore, red signifies courage. Ribbons in purple are for the three doctors who saved my life: Drs. Smith, Younger and Powell of MGH/Dana-Farber. Purple is the ribbon color chosen to raise awareness of, among other things, cancer. Importantly, purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Though I never asked Dana-Farber about the creative process behind how they created our DFMC singlets, I'm sure the color choices were a conscious creative decision and am happy our ribbons follow in perfect suit. I hope you are as well. Learn more: http://www.10yearscancerfree.blogspot.com

Blues at the Bing Cancer Center
Blue is the color of the awareness ribbon for colorectal cancer. As part of an awareness event to raise awareness we had a blues concert at the Bing Cancer Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus Ohio. Mistakenly people often think blues is about feeling bad. In reality blues is the music of strength and resiliance in the face of difficult times. This is a video of a few songs from that concert. John Morgan (guitar), Debbie Flower-Smith (vocals), Don Smith (ukulele bass) Tom Dodge (slide guitar).

Dressed All In Pink - Breast Cancer Song
Dressed All In Pink. Thank you for listening to our song. You are welcome to use or sing! I do not have a piano only demo unfortunately. Dressed All In Pink © Songwriters: Kim Guynn & Ashley Taws I was dressed all in pink when I was a little girl Felt soft and yet so delicate with ribbons in my curls Now when I wear pink I feel so differently Ribbons are now pinned on my shirt since the day I was knocked to my knees Pink is not the color that is mute and mild It stands for the thousands fighting for their lives Pink is not so soft it's really strong and bold Worn proudly by the bravest ones whether young or old Picked myself off the ground Dusted the shock off my sleve Look in the eyes of my family I had to beat this disease It came with both guns blazing but I came back with more Seeing pink never let me forget just what I'm fighting for Pink is not the color that is mute and mild It stands for the thousands fighting for their lives Pink is not so soft it's really strong and bold Worn proudly by the bravest ones whether young or old Some have lost the battle Giving everything to the end Mothers, Daughters, Grandmothers, Sisters, Aunts and Friends We will not forget We will all unite Wearing pink as our armor as we win this fight Pink is not the color that is mute and mild It stands for the thousands fighting for their lives Pink is not so soft it's really strong and bold Worn proudly by the bravest ones whether young or old Worn proudly by the bravest ones whether young or old I am dressed all in pink

Award-winning artist, scientist, and color therapist Leanne Venier discusses the healing effects of color, light frequencies, and art and how these relate to elevated consciousness. The talk addresses: *How our bodies absorb and use color and light frequencies; *Latest scientific research and current medical applications for treating cancer and other illnesses using color and light; *New studies and technology that support healing of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, autism, and other diseases and disorders; *The science behind the healing effects of certain types of artwork; *Why we need all the color frequencies found naturally in sunlight for optimum health; *What are biophotons and why they are so important to optimal health and wellbeing; *How color and consciousness are connected; *Color attributes and how we can use them every day to prevent and heal illness. "I've always been interested in how various colors are tied into our psyche and, more importantly, how they affect us on the physical and emotional levels," says Venier. "We are, in fact, so influenced by color that by simply noticing which colors we're drawn to at any given time, we can gain insight into where and how we need to bring balance back into our lives." Leanne Venier was a mechanical engineer designing submarines until a lifelong passion for healing and knowledge about consciousness drew her to the healing arts. This journey took her to Italy for seven years and back to the United States for advanced training as an acupuncturist and shiatsu practitioner. Six years ago, Venier started painting and left her healing practice to begin working as a professional artist. It is from this diverse background that Venier will present data gathered from 70 years of scientific research into the healing effects of color, light frequencies, and art. Venier has exhibited her artwork and lectured at major medical centers on the healing effects of color and light frequencies and their role in medicine. She has been interviewed on Austin's KUT and KOOP radio stations as well as NBC-WOAI-TV's San Antonio Living Show in regard to her artwork and its role in using color to heal. It is often worn by Breast Cancer survivors and their loved ones. [Standing all the way] pink ribbon original Rachael Chatoor
LYRICS BELOW: RECORDED VERSION click this link; http://rachaelchatoor.com/ http://rachaelpachel.blogspot.ca/2012/10/standing-all-way-pink-ribbon.html Inspired by a Melissa Etheridge interview, I found myself questioning how I might feel, what I might hear in my mind, were I to be told that I have breast cancer. Lyrics: Doctor please slow down I don't understand, Lets get back to talking about the weather It seems to me, you're saying I m not getting better I hear a voice inside, screaming, crying, asking why? Praying you are wrong What about my boy and girl? Right now, im their whole damn world What do they do if Im gone? I intend to fight this You don't know the future So I'm going to write it! Finding all good things to say, wearing my pink ribbon every day. I'll be standing all the way. Doctor please tell me cause I need to know, what I can do to really face it I can't believe you're saying, you just cant erase this Hear a voice inside, pleading, someone turn this tide Theres so much more to do Ive never been so mad Lost, confused, or deeply sad don't wanna believe my life is through CH Hear the voice inside strong detrmined full of pride There so much left to give no matter what the time I'm going to make the most and I will Show my babies how to live © Rachael Chatoor 2008 As I wrote this song, I really struggled with the feelings I experienced. I wrote the song for everyone, for survivors and for people who have moved on, yet lived strong and well and full of love, life, and hope, while fighting cancer of any kind. There were many moments, I found myself, crying right out loud, as certain words came to me, and my whole body would be filled with energy when certian lines just sounded right. I often considered my father's (Ken Waterman) own brave battle with cancer as I wrote this. My Dad's soul moved on to another place, last Sept 2007. He lived a full and happy two years beyond, the "three months" diagnosis that doctors gave him. My Dad was the sort of man who was a postitive energy at all times, he never said a negative word to anyone. He believed and LIVED, like he was not going to die. He continued to work devotedly for the YMCA, he spent his free time coaching youth hockey, and was found to be golfing, whenever he could slip away. He even played a round of golf, just days before entering the hospital, for the final time. The doctors who tended him, were openly amazed that he was golfing only days prior, & told him so as they looked over his charts with wide eyes, admiration, and disbelief. I witnessed this myself as we sat in the Emergency room, I was so proud of my Dad, on that day especially. He was still showing people how to live and how to believe. He still joked with all the doctors and nurses, and made everyone around him, feel good about themselves. That was his magic, & he refused to stop sharing his positive message. The words 'standing all the way' in this song, refers to my Dad's last golf game, and his message that no matter what the size of the bump in the road, you can still spend your time believing, and loving the people around you, right now, today. Love you Dad, thank you for your help with this. And wishes of love, courage, and strength, go out to my sisters in the world who are living with breast cancer, or any kind of cancer. I truly love you all, for helping me to heal a hurt and connect with a spirit.

LIVE Cancer Survivor Speech 2017
One Day to Conquer Cancer 'Survivor Speech' Pre diagnosis I was a happy, outgoing girl with a great job, career goals & a positive outlook on life! Finding the lump in my right breast was completely accidental - I had never done a self-examination in my life! No way it could've been cancer, I was 38, I was too young for cancer! October 18, 2012, ironically National Breast Cancer Awareness Day I walked in to my doctor alone to get my results 'You have Breast Cancer' were not the words I was expecting!! It was like a dream, it was like it wasn’t happening to me…..I was in shock! I soon found out that having Breast Cancer isn’t about pink ribbons, pink merchandise & decorating shop fronts with pink balloons. And it’s not a journey, it’s a nightmare! Fast forward 5 years on, 6 Surgical procedures later, including a double mastectomy, breast reconstruction, full hysterectomy & 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy I stand here today with a totally different outlook on life! I have overcome the physical challenges of breast cancer. Having both my breasts removed & being left with a scar from one side of my chest to the other. The intense body pain & suffering that comes with each round of chemotherapy. Losing my hair, my eyelashes & my brows & dealing with the looks in strangers’ eyes when they realise you’ve got cancer. And then finding that the ‘boob job’ I was promised wasn’t the silver lining I’d expected. The surgeries are over, chemo is done, my hair has grown back & I’ve been given the long awaited ‘all clear’. So, everything should go back to normal right? Wrong! Now I am fighting the ‘fight after the fight’. Battling depression, anxiety, PTSD & the fear of recurrence is a daily struggle for me & common amongst cancer survivors. I have lost count of the number of counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists & so called experts I’ve been to see to help me slay the cancer demons! It dawned on me in May last year that I needed to help myself, which brings me to why I am doing this today! Exercise is my medicine, challenges drive me & ticking off goals give me a sense of achievement! On Dec 31 2016 in 36degree heat a friend & I climbed Mt Warning to say goodbye to the end of another shitty year. I was so proud of myself, a moment in life when I really felt like I'd achieved something & this feeling gave me the kind of high I hadn't felt for so long! I wanted more, so I set out to find physical challenges I could work towards. I set specific goals & put plans into place on how to achieve them. I completed my very first RAW challenge, conquered Mt Warning again, climbed the stairs at Q1, participated in the Colour Run & recently completed the Ride for Life Cycle. As time goes on, more & more people I have befriended through different Cancer groups & other connections have passed away from secondary cancer. Losing friends is hard, especially after they've been there supporting me. As one of my friends who has Stage 4 Breast Cancer recently said ‘hurry up & find a cure, we are sick & tired of dying’. Last year my friend's mum was diagnosed with Peritoneal Mesothelioma, which is a rare type of cancer that affects less than 70 Australians each year. It is caused through exposure to asbestos & develops in the lining of the abdomen. I was fortunate enough to develop a bond with Cheryl, I held her hand the morning of her passing & told her it was ok to spread her wings & fly with the Angels. I am doing this in memory of Cheryl & to raise awareness for the horrendous disease that took her life & took her away from her loving family. I have been training 3 times a week with an amazing group of girls called the 'Spin Sistas’, they have taught me so much. As I take on challenges on the road (especially the hills), I think of Cheryl's strength, her fight & her loss of the battle. This lifts me up & gets me through! Today we are coming together to raise funds for the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital Foundation so that they can continue to conduct research to find methods of prevention & cures for different types of cancers. I’d like to thank the people supporting me today….my partner Darren for riding with me, Cheryl’s family for being here, the people who donated funds & our sponsors Aero Fuel & Turbo Systems, ASAP Glass & Total Workware. This is an Art installation inspired by Ms. Leila Al –Marashi’s personal experience. In a broader sense, the objectives of this project is the strength associated with the color Pink as opposed to being taken lightly, and the profound impact it has on a woman's psyche, and the Pink ribbon for reast cancer. Most of all, every person who had to endure the unfortunate loss of a beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife,or friend to breast cancer. Cancer is not a death sentence. We are here for you

Pink Ribbon for BREAST CANCER AWARENESS with E.L.F. palette
VISIT: http://www.pbcn.org/home.html (Philippine Breast Cancer Network) Mga ATE, let's wear pink this October. This ALL PINK look is for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It uses only locally made and/or locally available products including Kokuryo and Nichido. It's also really cheap to do, as it uses just one eye shadow palette (E.L.F. P123). Gamit na! More importantly, I hope this video spreads the word about Breast Cancer Awareness. It's very important for Pinays to have knowledge about this. Especially since early detection is the key. Breast Cancer kills thousands of women every year. But we are woman... we are all born with strength. We can fight this! Maraming salamat po ^_^ x, Pau Songs by: Fight Like a Girl by Bomshell (a BC song) Everything is Beautiful by Kylie Minogue aka Aphrodite (a survivor) Firework by Katy Perry (for hope) PRODUCT LIST: + Ever Bilena ADVANCE Shine Free Make-up Foundation with UVA/UVB Protection in Oriental (P130) [Beware: enhances pores; use mineral powder foundation to set] + Kokuryu Cream Cake Foundation in CF 302 (P103) [Recommendation: Always set, slides all over the place] + Mistline AIR LIGHT Weightless Face Powder [Love! Really light weight!] + Kokuryu Super Glow (P73) [Beware: will make ANY shadow shimmery & slides after 12 hours of wear] + E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color Shadow Palette in Pretty N'Pink [Beware: products have varying quality - some shadows may be chalky] + Nichido Girls' Night Out Eye Pencil in 01 Blackest Black [Recommendation: only use if you'll SMUDGE it. Otherwise, use their mineral eye liner] + E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color Shadow Palette in Drama [No footage - but great anyways] + Nichido Eyelash Curler + Nichido Dual Mascara [Beware: Use ONLY with base] + Fashion 21 Singe Blush-on in 17 (P125) + AVON Color Trend Lipstick in Belle [Beware: MELTS] + BRUSHES: Fashion 21, Nichido, Shawil, Ever Bilena (all under 100 except for EB, P140) [Beware: Except for E.L.F. brush, sheds tiny brush hairs all over] Note: It's my first time to film outdoors. Yes, there are bystanders behind me. Some of them would even come up to me, though they didn't dare ask me what I was doing ^_^ If not them, then the goat families would wander into my frame LOL! I have chapped lips today too - gah! And yes, I don't have perfect skin and my foundation doesn't do full coverage :( Plus, it suddenly rained just before I filmed my products. So I had to film that in my room. Lastly, sorry about the out of focus mascara application. I didn't find out about it until I downloaded the footage. It was already raining so I couldn't reshoot that. For beginners, a step-by-step vid series is in the works (hopefully, it will be in Filipino) ^_^ x DISCLAIMER: + I do not own ANY and ALL of the songs used. They belong to their respective artists and labels (please refer above for song title and artist). They are used only for fun and not for profit. No copyright infringement intended. + I am not officially affiliated with any Breast Cancer Awareness groups. + All products were bought by myself at SM Department Store, Landmark, Watsons, Mercury Drug, etc. I am not payed by any company for this video. All opinions are my own.

DIY: Cancer Awareness Posters
I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (https://www.youtube.com/editor) Hi This is a DIY video telling how to make cancer awareness posters. The materials needed are: Markers, uncolored cancer ribbon printout, and sites for donations. First, color the cancer ribbon. Then, add the site names so people know where to donate. Finally add some finishing touches to make it look nice, such as some hearts, quotes, stars, or tiny ribbons. Examples of some homemade cancer posters are at the end. Hope you enjoy and find this video useful.
