Cricopharyngeal Spasm: A Troubling Feeling of a Lump in the Throat
In this video, Dr. Robert Bastian of Bastian Voice Institute explains cricopharyngeal spasm, a problem that causes a troubling sensation of throat constriction or of a foreign body in the throat. Cricopharyngeal spasm is caused by over-contraction of the upper esophageal sphincter, or cricopharyngeus muscle, and causes an annoying, preoccupying, even anxiety-provoking sensation of something stuck in the throat, like a "wad of phlegm." A common description is "There is something in my throat that I can't swallow or spit out." Individuals with this problem often have difficulty getting a clear diagnosis, and may see several physicians and undergo unnecessary and unhelpful tests in their quest for an answer. Sometimes also called "globus sensation," this disorder is described and explained in detail. Heartburn Drugs: What Are the Risks of Taking My Heartburn Drug?
If you have taken Prilosec, Nexium or Prevacid, please listen to this important legal announcement. The Food and Drug Administration has issued several warnings to patients that are taking these types of drugs known as Proton Pump Inhibitors or PPI’s. According to the FDA, long-term use may cause problems with the body’s ability to absorb calcium, magnesium, and other nutrients. Patients who take these drugs for an extended period may be at risk of suffering kidney damage, bone fractures, heart attack and other serious side effects. Several studies have determined that there are potentially a lot of risks involved with the use of these types of over the counter acid reflux medication. In January 2016, a study found that PPI’s increase the risk of Chronic Kidney Disease by 20-50%. Damage to the kidneys may leave them unable to filter toxins from the bloodstream. Chronic kidney failure is not reversible, so any symptoms of kidney issues such as lack of urine production or fluid retention should immediately be reported to your physician. The FDA issued warnings in 2010 that PPI’s could lead to an increased risk of hip or spine fractures. Those receiving high doses for more than a year were at the greatest risk. The FDA also issued a safety alert that PPI usage may lead to low magnesium levels, which could lead to seizures, muscle spasm or an irregular heartbeat. If you or a loved one suffered kidney damage after using these drugs, learn your legal rights. You may be entitled to financial compensation. Call us right now for your free consultation.
Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Acid Reflux, GERD, Heartburn. The cause and solution by Dr. Peter Glidden
Acid reflux also known as heartburn or GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) plagues 20% of the population unnecessarily. Yes that’s correct unnecessarily! So why are Proton Pump inhibitors (PPIs) drugs like Nexium, Prilosec, and Prevacid among the highest-selling classes of drugs in North America? To the tune of 9.5 billion in annual sales. Because medical doctors have it wrong when it concerns Acid Reflux. They do not know what causes it and they don't know how to cure it. So they make Billions managing it... Here are eight risk factors that Do Not cause heartburn: Smoking Pregnancy Eating a large meals Eating just before bed Lying down right after a meal Drinking alcohol, tea or coffee Eating spicy foods, citrus, fatty foods, chocolate, onions or garlic Taking medication such as aspirin, muscle relaxers or blood pressure medication These factors are known to trigger heartburn. But remember correlation does not equal causation. Medical doctors have told you that acid reflux is a result of too much stomach acid - but they can't tell you why or how this happens (it doesn't). Their ad hoc solution is to give a PPI to stop the production of stomach acid….The result no more GERD. This is like cutting off a finger to eliminate finger pain. It is an out of date, juvenile prescription which completely misses the point. Par for the course in MD land. The reality of the situation us that Acid Reflux is caused by not enough stomach acid! It is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is a condition where the acid in the stomach washes back up into the esophagus. Sometimes omeprazole is used in combination with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, clarithromycin) to treat ulcers associated with infection caused by the H. pylori bacteria (germ). Omeprazole is also used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition where the stomach produces too much acid. Omeprazole is also used to treat dyspepsia, a condition that causes sour stomach, belching, heart burn, or indigestion. In addition, omeprazole is used to prevent upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding in seriously ill patients. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. This medicine is available both over-the-counter (OTC) and with your doctor's prescription. This product is available in the following dosage forms: Tablet, Delayed Release Capsule, Delayed Release Powder for Suspension Packet Nursing NCLEX Precautions Drug information provided by: Micromedex It is important that your doctor check the progress of you or your child at regular visits. This will allow your doctor to see if the medicine is working properly and to decide if you should continue to take it. Blood and other laboratory tests may be needed to check for unwanted effects. If your or your child's condition does not improve, or if it becomes worse, check with your doctor. Tell your doctor if you or your child have Asian relatives, such as Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Taiwanese. You may need a lower dose of this medicine to treat erosive esophagitis. This medicine is sometimes given together with other medicines to treat ulcers. Be sure you understand about the risks and proper use of any other medicine your doctor gives you or your child together with omeprazole. Omeprazole may cause a serious type of allergic reaction when used in patients with conditions treated with antibiotics. Call your doctor right away if you or your child have itching; trouble breathing or swallowing; or any swelling of your hands, face, or mouth while you or your child are using this medicine. Serious stomach conditions may occur while taking this medicine alone or together with antibiotics. Stop using this medicine and check with your doctor immediately if you or your child are having more than one of these symptoms: abdominal or stomach cramps, bloated feeling, watery and severe diarrhea which may also be bloody sometimes, fever, nausea or vomiting, or unusual tiredness or weakness. This medicine may increase your risk of having fractures of the hip, wrist, and spine. This is more likely if you are 50 years of age and older, if you receive high doses of this medicine, or use it for one year or more. This medicine may cause hypomagnesemia (low magnesium in the blood). This is more likely to occur if you are taking this medicine for more than one year, or if you are taking this medicine together with digoxin (Lanoxin®) or certain diuretics or "water pills". Stop using this medicine and check with your doctor right away if you have convulsions (seizures); fast, racing, or uneven heartbeat; muscle spasms (tetany); tremors; or unusual tiredness or weakness. Do not stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor, or unless told to do so by your doctor. Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements.

Get Rid of Heartburn and Acid Reflux With this 8 Homemade Remedies
How to Get Rid of Heartburn and Acid Reflux Acid reflux, Heartburn or constipation is something that most adults will experience during their lifetime. It is characterized by an uncomfortable burning sensation right behind the breastbone that often times creeps up the throat, and is a symptom more so than a disease. It is caused by acid reflux, which occurs when the ring of muscle that allows food into your stomach relaxes when it shouldn’t. The result is acid from your stomach goes back up your esophagus, which then causes the sensation of heartburn. Think about it…its acid burning your throat…ouch! It’s actually possible to have reflux without heartburn, but it is not possible to have heartburn without-reflux. While over-the-counter and prescription medications are available, if you suffer only from occasional heartburn, lifestyle changes and heartburn home remedies may be the route you want to take. 1.A spoonful of baking soda… A spoonful of sodium bicarbonate, or teaspoon-full to be exact, can help put an end to the gnawing, burning, sensation of heartburn caused by acid reflux. Baking-soda, as sodium-bicarbonate is more commonly known, can help your reflux and in turn help your heartburn because it is a base substance. It has a pH-higher than 7.0, and therefore neutralizes stomach acid You will need… -1/2 teaspoon or 1 teaspoon of baking soda -a glass of fresh water Directions Mix either a ½ teaspoon or 1 single teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water that is no more than 8-ounces. Give it a good stir and drink all of the mixture. You can repeat this as needed but should not exceed seven ½ teaspoon doses in a 24-hour period. Also, avoid using this as a remedy for more than a week straight, as it is high in salt and can have side effects such as swelling or nausea 2.Chin up (and don’t lie down) Heartburn tends to get worse at night, thanks to the fact that you’re lying down when you sleep. Gravity works against you, and it’s easier for the digested contents of your stomach to back up into your esophagus, along with acid. Try elevating your head about 6 inches when you sleep by placing bricks, books, or blocks under the legs at the head of your bed. You could also try a wedge-shaped pillow under your mattress, but don’t simply pile up extra pillows as it’s easy to slip off of them at night. Don’t lie down within 2-3 hours after eating, because lying down with a full stomach makes stomach contents press harder against your lower esophageal-sphincter. 3.  Avoid tight fitting clothes Things cinched tightly about your waist or middle can worsen heartburn. If you have super tight-jeans on, when you sit down, the waistband is going to sink into your abdomen region. Same goes for tight belts-and even shirts can be a problem for some. This is because all of the above puts extra pressure on your lower esophageal-sphincter, which make it more likely stomach contents, will push through and you’ll experience reflux. 4.Chew gum The Journal of Dental Research conducted a study that showed people with symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, or chronic heartburn, experienced relief when they chewed a piece of sugar-free gum for 30 minutes after a meal. This is because chewing gum stimulates the salivary glands, and increases the flow of saliva. Any acid that has built up in the gut is diluted and washed away or cleared out more quickly. The clearance of acid then improves the symptoms of GERD. It is possible that the same school of thought could be applied to occasional heartburn as well. It’s our regular saliva that we swallow that actually makes normal bouts of reflux here and there completely painless. could not write the entire description of the video 8 Home Remedies To Cure Acid reflux | Heartburn | Gerd | Acidity as youtube has 5k words limit.you can pause the video should you require written content. Choices Matter | Health Tip #3: How to Cure Acid Reflux
Link to my blog post about acid reflux: http://healthyfuturestoday.com/2015/10/25/acid-reflux/ Here are some of my go to solutions for acid reflux: 1) Slow Down and Chew. The average American chews each bite of food only a few times before swallowing it down hard, often with a gulp of water as a chaser. Try to chew your food until it’s liquid. This significantly reduces the work of your stomach. I know this seems simple, but sometimes the simplest remedies have the most profound effects. Just by chewing your food 20-30 times per bite and not drinking much liquid with meals (see below), you may resolve your acid reflux. 2) Drink as little liquid as possible with your meals. Ingrained in our dining culture is the practice of drinking beverages with our meals. But this habit is actually causing us harm. When we drink a lot of water or other beverages during meals, we are diluting our stomach acid. This makes it less potent, leading to belching, bloating, and acid reflux. Ideally we should hydrate 20 – 30 minutes before a meal and wait 1 ½ to 2 hours after a meal to drink. In between meals is by far the best time to hydrate. Have only a small glass handy during meals to help clear your palate (e.g. 4 oz). 3) Eat less at one time. Sometimes our LES gets blown open by the sheer volume of food we try to cram into our bellies. This is especially true when we eat at restaurants. Yes, the stomach will stretch, but only so far. Try to stop eating when you are 80% full. You have to leave room (literally) for digestion to take place. 4) Fix magnesium deficiency. This is a widespread issue in the US. The USDA estimates up to 90% of Americans don’t get enough magnesium. Low magnesium can cause your muscles to be too tight or to spasm erratically. This includes the LES. If you also struggle with any regular constipation, headaches, irritability, or tight muscles, try taking a magnesium supplement (start with 400mg magnesium citrate). 5) Stop eating foods that cause your LES to spasm. So here’s the solution to acid reflux that you didn’t want to hear. Unfortunately, we tend to love the foods that are most irritating to the LES. I know it’s hard to give up some of the foods we love, but continuing to eat them and just pop a pill to ignore the pain is likely to turn into a serious illness or disease some day. The most powerful food triggers include: cooked tomato sauce, citrus juices, coffee, soda, alcohol (especially wine), peppery or spicy foods, fried food, chocolate, and things with mint in them (e.g. gum, mints, toothpaste, tea). 6) Don’t eat or drink anything 2-3 hours before bedtime. Reflux can often be worst at night. This is when all of our muscles relax at least a little bit, including our LES. If you put food in your stomach and then go to bed before it’s fully digested, reflux is much more likely. The goal is to eat throughout the day such that you just go to bed with an empty stomach – but not hungry. Not eating a full 3 hours before bed is also an excellent way to improve the quality of your sleep. 7) Experiment with acid replacement. If you suspect that low stomach acid is the cause of your reflux, try taking 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in the middle of a meal (mixed in 1 -2 oz. of water). The idea is to put something more acidic into the stomach at the right time. And finally, a few words about acid reflux medications. Antacid medications such as Tums are only treating the symptoms – they do nothing to remedy the root cause. And long-term use makes acid reflux worse. If you’re taking a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) such as Prilosec or Nexium for your acid reflux, it’s important for you to be aware that long-term use of PPI medications (more than a couple of months at the most) is dangerous! PPIs act by reducing the body’s production of acid (remember acid reflux is often a result of too little stomach acid, not too much!). PPIs prevent the absorption of critical protein and minerals that, over years, can be the true root cause of ailments such as osteoporosis, arthritis, depression, heart disease, and diabetes. If you are taking a PPI and want to stop, do not stop cold turkey; that can actually do more harm than good. Slowly wean off the medication over a month’s time.

How Can I Get Off Prilosec?
What is Prilosec? Prilosec, "the purple pill," helps with gastroesophageal reflux disease (or GERD). Now .. what is that? Reflux, what is otherwise known as heartburn, is when the acid from the stomach goes back up the esophagus and causes burning in the chest. Prilosec decreases the amount of acid in the stomach so that you don't have as much acid that can go back up the esophagus causing that heartburn. There are definitely other ways you can manage reflux, so that you don't need to be on Prilosec. The first way is to look at what types of foods you are eating and how you are eating. The foods that worsen reflux are fatty foods, greasy foods, and foods that have a lot of caffeine like coffee, black tea, and dark chocolate. You have a muscle at the end of the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter that keeps food in the stomach; keeps it closed. If that muscle relaxes, then the food can go back up into the esophagus and these fatty foods, the high carbohydrate meals, caffeine, alcohol, smoking all relax that the lower esophageal sphincter allowing acid to go back into the esophagus. Another reason why people can have reflux is because they have a hiatal hernia. That is when part of the stomach actually protrudes back up into the esophagus and then the acid also goes backup into the esophagus. So now that you know why some people get reflux, then we find ways to prevent reflux. The first is simply avoid the causes and triggers. When we reduce the amount of fatty foods, the caffeine, alcohol and when we stop smoking (which has a whole other section of benefits), then we help to maintain the tone of the muscle that keeps the food in the stomach after it passes the esophagus. If you eat too large of a meal and the food just sits there and doesn't get digested the way that it's supposed to, it can push back up and cause heartburn. So eat smaller, more frequent meals. Thinking about the types of food you are eating, if you are used to eating foods that are easily digestible, then throw something in the mix that is NOT, then you might throw a shock into the system. Again, you will have food sitting in the stomach undigested and it will push back into the esophagus creating more acid in the stomach and causing heartburn. There are also things that create just an influx of acid production. One of the biggest things is stress. Stress causes an increase in acid and it doesn't matter if it's physical stress or emotional/mental stress. If the body of overly stressed, it will produce too much acid which will go up the esophagus and cause heartburn. So some of the things that you might want to do in terms of relegating this reflux are eating the smaller, more frequent meals. You can also add some supplements that will help further the digestion. The biggest recommendation I make - probiotics. Probiotics help to maintain the natural process of the stomach and intestines. When you have that good natural bacteria in the stomach and intestines, then foods can digested the way that they are supposed to be digested. Another thing you may consider taking is digestive enzymes. If you don't want to take the digestive enzymes as a pill, you would look at foods like papaya or pineapple. Then there is ginger and pepper mint. You have to be careful with peppermint because by nature, peppermint relaxes the muscles and it could relax the lower esophageal sphincter and cause heartburn .. but on the same token, peppermint is also good for facilitating digestion. So monitor the amount of peppermint, or combine it with ginger so that you get the increase effects of digestion of the ginger and the peppermint and minimizing the reflux. Here's a little recipe for you! Acid Reflux Tea: 1/4 tsp of baking soda 2 Tbsp of aloe 1 Tbsp of honey 1/8 Tbsp of virgin coconut oil 4 oz of warm water Not only does it neutralizes the acid in the stomach, but the aloe vera helps heal the stomach lining, the coconut oil helps to decrease the inflammation, and the honey gives it a sweet flavor while coating the stomach as well. Drink this every night for 30 days and it will re-balance the acid system in the stomach. Another recipe? 1 part fennel seeds 1 part flax seeds 1 part fenugreek seeds 1 part spearmint leaves Add that to a tea and drink that on a daily basis. Fennel and fenugreek are very good for digestion, as well as spearmint. Flax seed provides the fiber that digests the foods and keeps it down. Finally, you want to eat foods that are rich in celery, potatoes (red potatoes, particularly) and cabbage. This soothes gastric inflammation, which can also increase the level of reflux or the feeling of heartburn.

5 Powerful Keys to Stop Acid Reflux and Hurtburn
Acid reflux is a fairly common disease problem in society. Find they 5 keys to stop this acid reflux and hurtburn in http://bit.ly/2hIUHWL This condition of acid reflux is caused the esophagus and cause heartburn pain or burning sensation in the chest. Esophagus, also known as the esophagus is part of the digestive tract that connects the mouth and stomach. Symptoms of Stomach Acid Perceived symptoms are a burning sensation in the chest or heartburn. As a result, we will feel uncomfortable after eating food. Mouth and esophagus also will feel uncomfortable. We will also experience pain and difficulty swallowing food. Seriously care would be required if symptoms of GERD above appear continuously. Rising Causes Stomach Acid Diseases of stomach acid is generally caused by a malfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). LES is a muscular ring at the bottom of the esophagus. LES serves as an automatic door that opens when food or drink down to the stomach. After the entry of food, the LES closes to prevent food and acid in the stomach so as not climb back up to the esophagus or esophagus. The cause of the disease is usually associated gastric acid by a factor of overweight, pregnant, or consumption of foods containing a lot of fat. Heartburn - Acid Stomach Pain When Naik The burning sensation usually occurs after eating food triggers heartburn and will be more so when the body lying down or bending over. How can food that has been swallowed back into the esophagus? Normally when food is swallowed, the muscles lower part of the esophagus (esophageal sphincter) will recharge open the esophagus so that food can be dropped down towards the stomach. After that, it will close the back muscles of the esophagus. However, if the muscle relaxation abnormally or weakens, stomach contents can climb back into the esophagus, causing heartburn. Occasional heartburn is common and nothing to worry about. Most people who experience this inconvenience could cope alone with lifestyle changes or certain medications. However, if heartburn is common and already interfere with daily activities, this could be an indication you are suffering from a more serious disease and requires medical pearawatan. Diagnosis of Gastric Acid To perform the diagnosis of diseases of stomach acid, doctors enough to ask the symptoms you are experiencing. Further studies to confirm the diagnosis can be done through endoscopy. Endoscopy yourself using an instrument called an endoscope. A long flexible tube with a light and camera on the end. This tool is inserted through the mouth to see the cause of acid reflux and if there are cuts in the wall of the esophagus. Treatment of Gastric Acid Treatment of diseases of the stomach acid has stages. How early is the easiest thing to do is to replace the food menu, which is switching to a diet low in fat and nutritious. But when dietary changes are not successful, the drugs will be used to relieve symptoms are felt. If the steps that have been undertaken treatment still does not work, surgery may be necessary to cope with GERD. For patients who experience disease relapse of stomach acid, may be given a dose of the drug for the long term. Complications Due to Stomach Acid Complications of gastric acid disease most often occurs is esophagitis. Esophagitis is an inflammation or inflammation of the wall of the esophagus or gullet. In cases of severe esophagitis, the patient will have difficulty swallowing due to the appearance of ulcers. Ulcers formed when layers of the esophageal wall eroded to become injured. In more severe cases, may develop cancer of the esophagus.

8 Signs that Indicate Your Body is Too Acidic and How to Fix it Fast
Like, Comment, Subscribe and invite all your friends to see our videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfR3Y90G-fFDYI6i7E7xPBQ Here are some symptoms that indicate your body is too acidic. 1. Excess Weight When your body’s alkaline balance is not maintained, there is excess waste product in the form of acid in your body. This excess acid is not being eliminated because the colon, kidneys, lymph system and skin organs responsible for flushing toxins out of the body— are overwhelmed with a torrent of toxins from the excess acid. The body deals with the excess acid by pushing it back into the fat tissues, where the acid clings to the fat cells. This is the reason you are unable to lose weight when your body is too acidic. Your body requires the fat cells to store the excess acid. 2. Weak Bones When your fluids are too acidic, your body will do everything in its power to maintain an alkaline balance to keep functioning properly. The body will compensate by pulling minerals from your tissues and other organs to alkalize and minimize acidity. One of these minerals is calcium found in your bones, necessary for maintaining their strength. Your bones become weak when your body depletes their calcium reserve in order to neutralize the acidity of your body. If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia, or you fracture your bones easily, your body might just be too acidic. This is the reason patients of osteoporosis and osteopenia are asked to refrain from acidic foods, such as beef, caffeine and soda. 3. Dental Problems Just as your bones hold calcium reserves, so do your teeth. Excess acid in the body also results in your system pulling calcium from your teeth to alkalize your body and prevent it from getting sick. A 2015 study published in the International Journal of Chemical Engineering and Applications notes that low pH levels in the mouth can cause demineralization of the tooth enamel. Further exposure of the mouth bacteria to sugary sweet foods and beverages can exacerbate the amount of lactic acid production in the mouth, resulting in cavities, the study further notes. As acidity in your body starts affecting your teeth, you may experience increased sensitivity to foods and drinks that are too cold or too hot. You may also develop cavities, which may be particularly painful when you consume something sweet. Another associated symptom includes bleeding gums, which may occur right after you brush your teeth. 4. Fatigue Too much acidic content in the body also makes it more susceptible to bacteria, fungi and viruses. An acidic environment is perfect for these microorganisms to thrive. Thus, hordes of microorganisms acquire a foothold in the digestive tract, gums, and other organs and tissues, triggering the immune system into overdrive to fight these infectious entities. Overtime, the immune system wears out and your body becomes deprived of energy. Furthermore, these organisms interfere with your body’s ability to absorb essential nutrients, such as minerals and vitamins. Poor absorption of nutrients affects the manufacturing of hormones and enzymes needed to produce energy. This further induces a state of fatigue. 5. Skin Problems Skin problems are dermatological manifestations of a low pH level. The skin is also one of the detoxifying organs of the body. When there is too much acid floating around your bloodstream, it becomes prone to bacteria and toxin overload. In such a scenario, the liver often falls short of eliminating all acidic toxicity from the body, and the skin tries to compensate by trying to flush them out. This process of detoxification manifests itself in the form of acne, allergies, rashes and eczema. 6. Mucus Buildup Mucus production is the body’s natural defense mechanism against an acid buildup in an effort to flush it out of the body through the nasal passage. It might also indicate an acid buildup in the nasal passage itself. If you suffer mucus buildup regularly, it is a sign that your body is overloaded with acid. Urgent medical attention becomes necessary in such a case because the constant exposure of the lungs to mucus expands and compresses it too often, eventually irritating it, and resulting in excessive coughing, wheezing, sinus problems, breathing problems and chest pain. 7. Muscle Pain Too much acid in the body can cause the muscles to constrict, which further obstructs the oxygen-carrying blood capillaries running through the muscles, causing strain and oxygen deprivation. It also obstructs the absorption of nutrients and vitamins from the blood necessary for proper functioning. In such an event, the deprived muscles overexert themselves to keep functioning, resulting in soreness and pain. Muscle pain accompanied by fatigue is an even clearer indication of an acid overload in the body.

What Is GERD or Acid Reflux? | Stomach Problems
Watch more How to Prevent Stomach Problems & Digestive Disorders videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/504361-What-Is-GERD-or-Acid-Reflux-Stomach-Problems So what is GERD? GERD is an acronym for gastro esophogeal reflux disease, or acid reflux disease. They're very similar and they are interchangeable terms. And it's exactly what it says. It's when the gastric contents or the stomach contents reflux up into the esophagus. Now, the stomach is normally very acidic. And it needs to be acidic to help digest the food and help to clean the food and sanitize the food in order to process it before it goes down to the small bowel. Now, the esophagus is purely a transit to, basically, it gets the food from our mouth to our stomach. So there's no real acid, chemical, or anything down there except for a little bit of amylase which is produced in our mouths. So it just basically helps the food travel down into the stomach. Now, if you have the gastric contents reflux up into the esophagus, that acid comes up into the esophagus and that can feel like a burning sensation. It can feel like a cramping sensation or pain and that's, basically, the esophagus clamping down, so that the acid doesn't wash up into the esophagus. The symptoms come from the esophagus spasming against the acid, so that the acid doesn't continue to wash up into the esophagus. So this can happen for a couple of reasons. If there's any defect at the bottom of the esophagus or the top of the stomach, such as a hiatal hernia, they don't have that nice tight seal the closes off the stomach from the esophagus. There is a muscle that's at the base of the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter. Now that sphincter is like a dam that helps to keep the bottom of the esophagus closed and the top of the stomach closed. There's also our diaphragm, which is a muscle that separates our chest from our abdomen. And there's a small hole in that diaphragm that the esophagus goes through to empty out into the stomach. Now if there's any defect there, this part of the stomach can pop up into the chest called a hiatal hernia. And then what that causes, again, that gets rid of that nice tight seal, so you can get free acid washing up from the stomach into the esophagus. ?

This can be caused by "washing back" (reflux) of food and acid from the stomach into the food pipe (oesophagus). Reflux can cause a burning sensation in the chest rising up to the throat, also known as heartburn, which usually occurs after eating or at night and which worsens when bending over. OMEPRAZOLEis also used to help stop reflux oesophagitis coming back or relapsing. Acid-Related Dyspepsia OMEPRAZOLE is used to treat acid-related dyspepsia. Dyspepsia is an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach or belching after eating. It is also known as indigestion. Peptic Ulcers OMEPRAZOLE is used to treat peptic ulcers. Depending on the position of the ulcer it is called a gastric or duodenal ulcer. A gastric ulcer occurs in the stomach. A duodenal ulcer occurs in the duodenum which is the tube leading out from the stomach. These ulcers can be caused by too much acid being made in the stomach. They can cause pain and discomfort (indigestion) which is felt between the naval and the breast bone. OMEPRAZOLEis also used to help stop gastric or duodenal ulcers coming back. Peptic Ulcers Associated with Helicobacter pylori Infection Most people who have a peptic ulcer also have a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori in their stomach. When OMEPRAZOLEis taken with antibiotics, they will kill Helicobacter pylori and let your peptic ulcer heal. When OMEPRAZOLEis taken together with two antibiotics, they are more effective than taken one or two at a time. It is possible that the antibiotics may not always kill Helicobacter pylori. You may need furthertreatment. Peptic Ulcers Associated with Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) Some peptic ulcers are caused by taking medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. These medicines are commonly taken to relieve pain, swelling and other symptoms of inflammation, including arthritis. OMEPRAZOLE is also used to heal and prevent ulcers associated with NSAIDs. Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome OMEPRAZOLE is also used to treat a rare condition called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, where the stomach produces large amounts of acid, much more than in ulcers or reflux disease. OMEPRAZOLEis a type of medicine called a proton-pump inhibitor. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made by the stomach, to give relief of symptoms and allow healing to take place. This does not stop food being digested in the normal way. Your doctor will have explained why you are being treated with OMEPRAZOLE and told you what dose to take. Benefits And Features Of Nexium Acid Reflux
http://www.free-health-care.info/wp/acid-reflux/acid-reflux-english/benefits-and-features-of-nexium-acid-reflux/ Benefits And Features Of Nexium Acid Reflux Fortunately for acid reflux sufferers, Nexium effectively treats the symptoms of acid reflux and provides relief for the pain and burning of heartburn. What Is Acid Reflux? The lower esophageal sphincter (LES) muscle connects the esophagus to the stomach. The LES forms a tight seal to keep stomach acid where it belongs in the stomach. When the LES relaxes, acid bubbles up from the stomach and penetrates the esophagus, where it can damages the sensitive lining of the organ. What Causes Acid Reflux? A variety of foods, conditions, and behaviors can trigger an acid reflux reaction. Caffeine consumption, in coffee, tea, or chocolate, can cause the reaction, as can overeating, wearing tight clothing, or being pregnant. What Helps Acid Reflux Symptoms? To some extent, the heartburn and pain of acid reflux can be avoided by avoiding the foods and behaviors that cause the problems. However, this is not always possible. For example, overweight people who are undertaking a weight loss program may have acid reflux symptoms that persist until they can lose a certain amount of weight. Taking Nexium for acid reflux is the perfect solution for people who find themselves in a situation where they need to treat their acid reflux symptoms. By taking the "healing purple pill," as Nexium is called, acid reflux sufferers can obtain 24-hour relief from heartburn symptoms. What Is Nexium? The official medical name for Nexium is esomeprazole magnesium. Nexium for acid reflux must be prescribed by a medical doctor; it is not available without a prescription. While Nexium treats acid reflux, it may also have a negative reaction when taken with certain other drugs, notably Coumadin, HIV medications that contain Aatazanavir, and drugs like ketoconazole, iron salts, and digloxin, which rely on the gastric pH being a certain level. Unfortunately, like any drug, Nexium does have side effects. The most commonly reported side effects are headache, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Most adults take 20 or 40 mg of Nexium for acid reflux once daily, and they get 24 hour relief. Notably, Nexium is gluten free. Persons with gluten intolerance have enough gastric distress to deal with without the added complications of gluten in their medication. Therefore, Nexium is proud to be gluten-free. Healing Nexium Acid reflux can cause severe damage to the esophagus. Nexium can heal this damage, usually within four to six weeks after beginning treatment. Is Nexium right for you? Only you and your doctor can decide. If you have persistent heartburn two or more days per week, talk to your doctor about taking Nexium.

PPIs, or Proton Pump Inhibitors, have been linked to severe kidney damage and kidney disease. PPIs are a class of drugs used to relieve heartburn and acid reflux by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Common PPIs include: Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, Zegerid, Dexilant, AcipHex and Protonix. Over 15 million Americans take PPIs. However, taking PPIs cause a risk of developing severe health issues, including chronic kidney disease. Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms
Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms. What Is Acid Reflux?. Do you ever feel a fiery, tingling sensation at the back of your mouth after eating a heavy meal or spicy foods? What you’re feeling is stomach acid or bile flowing back up into your esophagus. This is often accompanied by heartburn, which is characterized by a burning or tightening sensation in the chest behind the breastbone. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, more than 60 million Americans experience acid reflux at least once per month, and more than 15 million Americans may experience it every day. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. While it’s normal to experience acid reflux occasionally, those who experience it more than twice per week may have a more serious problem known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is a chronic form of acid reflux that can irritate the lining of your esophagus, causing it to become inflamed. This inflammation may lead to esophagitis, which is a condition that may make it difficult or painful to swallow. Constant esophageal irritation may also result in bleeding, narrowing of the esophagus, or a precancerous condition called Barrett’s esophagus. Acid Reflux Symptoms. The symptoms of acid reflux in teenagers and adults can include: *a burning sensation in the chest that gets worse when bending over or lying down and usually occurs after a meal. *frequent burping. *nausea. *abdominal discomfort. *a bitter taste in the mouth. *a dry cough. The symptoms of acid reflux in infants and young children can include: *wet burps. *hiccups. *frequent spitting up or vomiting, especially after meals. *wheezing or choking due to acid backup into windpipe and lungs. *spitting up after age 1, which is the age at which spitting up should stop. *irritability or crying after meals. *refusing to eat or only eating small amounts of food. *difficulty gaining weight. What Causes Acid Reflux?. Acid reflux is the result of a problem that occurs during the digestive process. When you swallow, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) normally relaxes to let food and liquid travel from your esophagus to your stomach. The LES is a circular band of muscles located between your esophagus and stomach. After food and liquid enter the stomach, the LES tightens and closes the opening. If these muscles relax irregularly or weaken over time, stomach acid can back up into your esophagus. This causes acid reflux and heartburn. It’s considered erosive if an upper endoscopy shows breaks in the esophageal lining. It’s considered nonerosive if the lining looks normal. What Are the Risk Factors for Acid Reflux?. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. When Is an Upper Endoscopy Needed?. You may need an upper endoscopy so that your doctor can make sure there are no serious underlying reasons for your symptoms. You may need this procedure if you have: *difficulty or pain with swallowing. *GI bleeding. *anemia, or a low blood count. *weight loss. *repeated vomiting. If you’re a man who’s older than 50 years old and you have nighttime reflux, are overweight, or you smoke, you may also need an upper endoscopy to determine the cause of your symptoms. Acid Reflux Treatment: The type of treatment for acid reflux that your doctor will suggest depends on your symptoms and your health history. Common medical treatments include: *histamine-2 receptor blockers to reduce stomach acid production, such as famotidine (Pepcid) and ranitidine (Zantac). *proton pump inhibitors to reduce stomach acid production, such as esomeprazole (Nexium) and omeprazole (Prilosec). *medications to strengthen the LES, such as baclofen (Kemstro). *surgeries to reinforce and strengthen the LES. *antacids to neutralize stomach acid. Making some simple lifestyle changes can also help treat acid reflux. These include: *raising the head of the bed or using a wedge pillow. *avoiding lying down for two hours after meals. *avoiding eating for two hours before bed. *avoiding wearing tight clothing. *limiting your consumption of alcohol. *quitting smoking. *losing weight if you’re overweight. You should also avoid avoid foods and beverages that trigger acid reflux, including: *citrus fruits. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

Heartburn Pills Damage Your Heart, Kidneys and Bones…Here’s What You Can Do To Fix This
Heartburn Pills Damage Your Heart, Kidneys and Bones…Here’s What You Can Do To Fix This According to the latest statistics, heartburn is one of the most common digestive disorders in the United States. The experts warn that you should be very careful, because if it’s left untreated, acid reflux can cause irritation and damage to the oesophagus, lungs, vocal cords and throat as well as cause pneumonia, ulcers, and breathing problems. This condition can quickly become unmanageable as sufferers have trouble going about their daily lives because of chest pain experienced after meals and throughout the night. UNFORTUNATELY, more than 15 million Americans currently rely on prescription heartburn medication to manage their symptoms. Proton pump inhibitors, the main medication prescribed for the condition, are currently the most widely prescribed drugs in the world. The MILLION-DOLLAR question – how does heartburn medication work? First of all, you should know that there are many different types of heart medications on the market shelves today. And, some of them, like tums and pesto-bismol, are available over-the-counters. And others, like Prilosec, Prevacid and Nexium, can only be taken through a prescription. Heartburn “appears” when stomach acid backs up into the tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach. Prescripion proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) reduce the production of acid in the stomach.
