He found the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting and has been doing very well. Tumors can not live on ketones, so a healthy ketosis diet can improve your immune system greatly. Since there are many environmental chemicals in our food supply, consuming organic foods is vital to decrease the exposure. Alison Gannett: Ketogenic Diet Brain Cancer Success Story + Tumor Tips
Listen to Alison Gannett brain cancer story how she has survived an aggressive brain tumor using a ketogenic diet + other biohacking tips. Alison is very passionate about understanding what caused her cancer and how best to treat & manage the type of cancer she was diagnosed with. She is now a ketogenic cancer coach helping others learn how to use a customised ketogenic diet in combination with other advice to help conquer their cancer. We not only talk about how she discovered she had cancer with her symptoms, but also how she survived her emergency brain surgery and why she decided not to use chemo therapy or radiation treatment. If you know someone who is has been diagnosed with cancer and is interested in using a ketogenic diet as part of their treatment plan then this episode is for them! I enjoyed this interview as I have read how useful a ketogenic diet can be in managing cancer and experts like, Dr Thomas Seyfried & Dr Dom D'Agostino, are fans of the keto diet for cancer, but had not had a chance yet to speak to someone who is living proof and implementing the diet on a daily basis. After speaking with Alison I have a better understanding of how to start a keto diet for cancer and what else needs to be considered when treating yourself for cancer. I really hope her positive story can help not only give some hope to others in a similar situation, but assist them to know who to possibly turn to and what is needed. Special thanks to Alison for joining me on the show. Enjoy the episode! Keto vs Brain Cancer - Christophe Quancard
This may be my favorite guy that I've ever got to interview. You know when you're talking to someone and the story just keeps building. Watch this shit. I'm not often speechless with tears in my eyes. Christophe Quancard is a cancer survivor who credits the ketogenic diet for putting his stage 4 brain cancer into remission. He was diagnosed right before his wedding and given 15 months to live. He said to his bride "this is crazy, you can't marry me. I have a brain cancer. She said "Shut up, it's not your call. We're getting married." The woman is always right. I don't know his wife, but I love her courage. They faced this head on and just watch. This is a beautiful story that offers more anecdotal proof for the efficacy of keto vs cancer. Could Ketotherapy replace some of the harmful standards of care? Let's hope the research keeps chugging along. You haven't heard the end of this story. Oh by the way, Christophe used to weigh 330lbs.

It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about will ketosis and tumors and cancer. Cancer cells are glucose dependent. Hello Dr. Berg here, in this video we are going to talk about ketosis, tumors and cancer. I got a question of will ketosis help cancer. Here’s some interesting facts, most tumor cells in the body are depended on glycolysis, it means you are dependent on the metabolism of sugar as their primary fuel so they are unable to use ketones. Ketones is an alternative fuel of the body, I believe it is the preferred fuel because our body is much better on it and you use ketones when you lower your carbs or you fast. It is a preferred fuel source simply because our bodies evolve ketones and not sugar and there are so many benefits that occurred when you actually run your body on ketones. The way you produce ketones is you cut down the carbs, like 20g of carbs per day and of course the sugar as well and you can do fasting. Both of those will trigger ketones so if you do intermittent fasting with low carbs, you are gonna actually produce ketones as an alternative fuel source. Some other healthy facts, all healthy cells can use ketones as their fuel. Cancer cells cannot Keto adapt, cannot adapt to using ketones – they only use large amount of sugar or glucose in their fuel. Cancer cells are glucose dependent. Even when you do a PET scan, which is oncologist use this to determine if there is a cancer in your body. A PET scan is an imaging unit that measures excessive glucose consumption compared to healthy cells. The question is, if you had cancer or tumor, what diet would you go on? It is pretty obvious, a ketogenic diet. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 52 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Lower-Carb Diet Slows Growth of Aggressive Brain Tumor
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida Health researchers have slowed down a notoriously aggressive type of brain tumor in mouse models by using a low-carbohydrate diet. A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that included a coconut oil derivative helped reduce the growth of glioblastoma tumor cells and extended lifespan in mouse models by 50 percent, researchers found. The results were published recently in the journal Clinical Cancer Research. Glioblastoma is the most common brain tumor in adults. There is no effective long-term treatment and patients usually live for 12 to 15 months after diagnosis, according to the National Cancer Institute. The findings are a new twist on an old idea: The so-called ketogenic diet has been used for nearly 90 years to help reduce epileptic seizures. Now, a high-fat, low-carbohydrate version of the ketogenic diet has been shown to slow glioblastoma tumors by cutting back the energy supply they need to thrive, said Brent Reynolds, Ph.D., a professor in the department of neurosurgery in the UF College of Medicine. A glioblastoma tumor requires large amounts of energy as it grows, and the the dietary intervention works by drastically limiting the tumor’s supply of glucose, Reynolds said.

Keto Diet vs. Cancer: Therapeutic Effects of a Low Carb Diet- Thomas DeLauer
Please Subscribe for 3-4x Video per Week + Live Broadcasts! http://ThomasDeLauer.com Ketone Breath Meter: https://levlnow.com/ Keto Diet vs. Cancer: Therapeutic Effects of a Low Carb Diet- Thomas DeLauer… Cancer cells are stupid, so - When it comes down to ketosis there are so many different directions that we can look. We're not just looking at how you burn fat. We're not just looking at getting in the best possible shape. There are actually some really good therapeutic applications. In this particular case, I want to spend this video talking about the relationship between ketosis and cancer. So, with me I have Joe Anderson who is a PhD in chemical engineering and an expert in ketosis. You've done a lot of digging in the world of ketosis and cancer. I want to turn the tables over to you to talk about what you've seen, what you've discovered in that world, and get a little discussion going on. Sure. So, there's this idea out there that the ketosis could be therapeutic. If you can get to a certain level of therapy with your ketone levels, it can actually decrease the cancer size. I will say right up front there's a gentlemen down in southern Florida who some of you may know, Dom D'Agostino, whose actually actively doing research in this area. Some of this stuff is coming from him. But, the idea is that cancer is tissue that's growing out of control. Right? Cancer's made up of lots of cells. When it's growing out of control some of the fuel that's fueling that out of control growth can be sugar. The idea is that if you cut sugar out, get into a high level of ketosis, you're going to kill those cells because they don't have any nutrients to thrive on. But, you have to be careful because every cell in that cancer isn't necessarily being fueled by sugar. Some will be fueled by fats, so this doesn't work for every cancer. They seem to indicate that some of the brain cancers, the nasty ones, are responsive to this keto therapy. Then you have some other cancers as well. . The other idea within that is that some of the cancers are responding to the insulin so if you have sugar, sugar is driving your insulin to be elevated, but that elevated insulin may also be helping the cancer grow out of control. So, once again, decrease sugar, decrease the fuel for the cancer cells, but also decrease that insulin response that's causing a response to those cancer cells as well. Right, now cancer is not my world of expertise other than the fact that I lost my father to cancer in February so it's near and dear to me, but I still don't have the breadth of knowledge that a lot of clinicians do in the world of cancer. Can you just describe exactly how a cancer cell works, and how it might feed, and how it might be glycolytic just so that the viewers who don't have an understanding of really how that works in general and how keto could potentially starve that out? Sure. I'm not going to try to pretend I'm' a cancer expert, but I've certainly done some research on this in terms of reading the scientific literature to understand it better, but essentially cancer is a cell that doesn't know when to stop growing and stop dividing. Your cell will grow, grow, grow and then at some point it can divide into a second cell, but that process is well controlled.

The Keto (ketogenic diet) is an AMAZING DIET that WILL BLAST EVERY LAST OUNCE OF FAT OFF YOUR BODY. That is, if you have the discipline to follow it, day in and day out. What does the keto-genic diet require: 1. You cannot eat sugar. 2. You cannot eat bread or any type of wheat product. This means no cookies, crackers, sandwiches, etc. Why? Because bread/wheat changes to sugar inside your body while it's being digested. Remember, the goal is to remove all sugar from your body! 3. Veggies - anything that is leafy and green is ideal. Otherwise if the veggie grows above ground, you can eat it. In March, I weighed a touch over 200 pounds. Today I hover a touch under 160. That is easily 40 pounds lost in 7 months. Easy. There is a massive amount of research being produced everyday on the positive effects the keto diet has in regards to stifling cancer and killing it. Especially brain cancer. There is visible link from brain cancer and killing it to the ketogenic diet. Basically brain tumors main fuel source is..........sugar! Watch videos on Youtube to see how tumors react when they encounter sugar. They essentially explode with happiness and begin dividing and multiplying like crazy! That's the truth folks! Thus, it makes perfect sense as to why some folks treat brain cancer solely with the ketogenic diet! Eliminating sugar from the diet essentially replaces sugar with something that is super poisonous for tumors called ketones. Tumors main fuel source like I mentioned is sugar. Ketones which the keto diet produces are an alternative food source for tumors with one major difference - when tumors eat ketones, the ketones kill the cancer cells! Sugar makes the tumor grow, whereas the ketones kill the tumor! I'm ranting now, watch the video. Tackling Brain Cancer with Ketogenics: Presenting Andrew Scarborough
Cancer has been a leading cause of death in the Western world for some time now, but what is the best nutritional regime to address it? Andrew Scarborough was faced with massive seizures and migraines, followed by a belated diagnosis of Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma. This is a most serious form of brain cancer, invariably fatal. He researched extensively and learned that chemotherapy would do little or nothing for the genetic form of his disease. His oncologist admitted as much when confronted with the data. Thus Andrew was facing into a chemical regime which would stress his body, whilst offering no real hope of remission - as acknowledged by his own oncologist. But Andrew was determined not to accept this inevitability; he was going to leverage his research from a Masters in Nutrition, and his ability to decode published scientific work from the best in the field. He was going to take on the fight for his own life. He would attack a metabolic disease...with a carefully aimed metabolic weapon. What would be the best weapon available for a human with invasive brain cancer? Well, a highly specialised form of ketogenic nutrition would make a lot of sense. It being based on the very substances that drove the evolution of our extraordinary human brains. Myself and Dr. Jeffry Gerber had the privilege of meeting Andrew in London recently. We captured insights around his brave and compelling journey. Rarely has one man's application of scientific research, been so focussed and so inspiring - enjoy and share (links and references are listed below).

Cancer cells need to keep dividing. 02:54 The Warburg Effect: Almost 100 years ago Otto Warburg showed that cancer cells don’t undergo normal energy metabolism.   04:36 Oxygen and the Warburg Effect: This process occurs whether oxygen is present or not. In normal cells, we utilize lactate fermentation when oxygen is limited. Cancer cells do this even when oxygen is present. 05:42 Mitochondrial Dysfunction: There is widespread mitochondrial dysfunction in cancer. 09:04 Cell Division: Every time your cell divides, it has to copy its DNA. Mistakes will be made, but we have repair mechanisms that survey and fix mutations. 09:47 Lactic Acid and Cancer: The cancer field views aerobic glycolysis, or the Warburg Effect, as a beneficial adaptation of tumors. 12:45 Fat Consumption and Cancer: Fatty acids and ketone bodies are converted into acetyl-coA to enter the metabolic pathways at the level of the Krebs cycle. 14:03 Hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF1 Alpha): Tumors grow under chaotic abnormal signaling properties. In order to grow past a certain size, the tumor needs to make its own new blood vessels. The chaos makes the blood vessel network abnormal and inadequate. 16:30 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: At sea level, we breathe 20% oxygen. In HBOT, oxygen intake is increased to 100%. 19:02 Oxygen Free Radical Production: In some parts of the tumor there may be no oxygen and parts of the tumor may die. 20:10 Radiation Therapy and Oxygen: Radiation causes the formation of free radicals. 21:11 Oxygen Therapies for Treatment and Prevention: 22:38 Mitochondria Membranes: Healthy functioning mitochondria act as tumor suppressors. By preserving mitochondrial membrane, in turn helps to preserve mitochondrial function.  A well formulated ketogenic diet helps with cell membrane integrity. 25:21 Insulin Signaling and Cancer: Insulin is a potent growth factor in cancers. Many cancer types upregulate insulin receptors and IGF receptors. Insulin promotes tumor growth. 26:20 Ketogenic Diet and Glucose: We don’t always get a remarkable drop in circulating blood glucose. 27:33 Pro-Oxidant Therapies:  Oxidative stress is a double edged sword for cancer. Cancer cells at a basal level operate under more free radicals and more oxidative stress than our healthy tissues. 31:11 The Effects of Ketones: Ketones have anticancer effects. They have very important signaling and functional roles in our cells that have nothing to do with their role as energy metabolites. 33:09 Inflammation: It is a huge component in cancer origination and progression. Ketosis is anti-inflammatory. Beta hydroxybutyrate inhibits the assembly of the NLRP3 inflammasome that is activated during cancer, ageing and many chronic illnesses that incite inflammation. 35:56 Ketones and the Alterations in Oxidative Stress: Ketone metabolism decreases free radical production, reducing oxidative stress and increasing antioxidant capacity. 37:17 Ketones and Glycolysis:  Some data suggests that ketones can inhibit glycolysis, an important pathway in cancer. 41:31 Restoring Anti-Tumor Immunity: The ketogenic diet restores anti-tumor immunity. 44:14 Ketogenic Cancer Benefits: There is not a lot of human data on the ketogenic diet and cancer. There are 12 clinical trials registered now. 46:44 Dr. Poff’s Morning Routine: She awakens early and spends quality time with her husband and pets. 48:27 Exogenous Ketones: The study of exogenous ketones is new. They have had a therapeutic effect in a wide variety of seizure models. Exogenous ketones are something that you consume that is either already a ketone or is converted into ketones in your body, or releases ketones.

Fight Cancer with a Ketogenic Diet presented by Ellen Davis - 4/13/2017
-Free Educational Webinar Series Hosted by Terry Talks Nutrition- The ketogenic diet is a natural, nontoxic metabolic therapy being studied and utilized for cancer prevention and treatment. It works because cancer cells are dependent upon a constant supply of blood sugar (glucose) to stay alive. Normal cells can make energy from both glucose and ketones (metabolic by-products of burning fat), but most cancer cells can only use glucose. Avoiding carbohydrates (starch and sugar) while enjoying delicious and healthy protein and fats will lower blood glucose and increase blood-ketone levels, resulting in a normal body state called nutritional ketosis. Research has shown that nutritional ketosis starves cancer cells while nourishing normal cells and strengthening total body health. Ellen Davis, MS, is an expert on ketogenic nutrition and is an accomplished author and alternative-health advocate. Her website, Ketogenic Diet Resource, offers information and books on how to treat diabetes, cancer and other diseases with a ketogenic diet and provides a comprehensive source of information and tools for customizing a ketogenic diet plan to fit a range of health goals.

Once the main cancer tumor has been destroyed, the cancer stem cells step back and wait. 18:27 The more we quiet inflammation and regulate blood sugar, the less likely it is that cancer stem cells will activate. 19:19 Secondary prevention includes and goes beyond diet and lifestyle. Other issues must be addressed: immune issues, chronic infections in the lymphatic system, toxin burdens, and hormonal aberrations. 24:36 Aberrant thoughts affect the immune system. 28:03 Cancer stem cells stay with the blueprint and the rest are the soldier cancer cells that we see. The stem cells, are generally not affected by the treatment that destroys the soldiers. 29:53 Cancer stem cells have the ability to recruit and program normal cells. The harder we hit the cancer soldier stem cells with chemo radiation, the more the stem cells back away from the area and wait. 31:06 The strategy is to keep cancer stem cells happy and quiet. 33:44 A very low carb or keto diet was a common link in cancer patients that did the best with their therapies, longer remissions or no recurrence. 37:13 Research has found that integrative cancer therapies extended lifespan, compared to only standard therapy. 41:29 Work with at least two practitioners to get many options and varied care. 49:07 By the time we can see a cancer tumor with imaging, it has been growing slowly for 5 to 10 years or longer. 51:00 Prescreening tests are getting better. Next generation testing, which still has some gaps, looks for things like circulating cancer cells. 52:06 Some traditional testing of non-specific inflammatory markers show metabolic shifts to an inflammatory milieu or a milieu that shows Warburg Effect. 58:38 Thermography, when done correctly, can detect and track cancer. 01:03:28 Dr. Anderson tests all cancer survivors for chronic infection, including the family of HHV, mycoplasma, c pneumoniae and more. 01:05:21 People who eat mushrooms regularly have lower rates of certain cancers. Some cancers that do not respond to anything else, will respond to mushrooms. 01:10:45 High protein intake and low quality protein sources can bring you out of cancer fighting mode and out of ketosis. Poor quality protein, and food in general, can bring toxins into your body. 01:14:18 The ideal morning routine for preventing cancer starts with a quiet mind and centering. Exercise in the morning for the brain and body. Hydrate. 01:18:27 Dr. Anderson would choose curcumin as his desert island supplement. Curcumin levels out cytokines and triggering molecules. 01:22:33 Dr. Anderson’s elevator pitch: keep people from developing cancer to is to get them to do the things that bring their metabolism back to its intended balance.

Delivering probiotics or fully formed microbiota via the rectal route offers huge potential. Today, more than 500 hospitals in America perform FMT for the treatment of C. diff. C. diff can be contracted via the use of acid blocking drugs or the use of antibiotics, both of which disrupt the complexity and diversity of your gut microbiome. The success rate of FMT for C. diff is 94 to 96%. The approved standard treatment with antibiotics is about 26 to 28% effective. 10:07 C-Sections: Maria Dominguez-Bello at NYU Medical School has published a series of papers. AHS12 Thomas Seyfried PhD —Targeting Energy Metabolism in Brain Cancer
Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D. presenting at the 2nd Annual Ancestral Health Symposium (AHS12). Abstract: Despite modest advances in the standard of care, malignant cancer persists as a major disease of morbidity and mortality in children and adults. As a metabolic disorder involving the dysregulation of respiration, malignant brain cancer can be managed through changes in metabolic environment. In contrast to normal neurons and glia, which transition to ketone bodies (beta-hydroxybutyrate) for respiratory energy when glucose levels are reduced, malignant brain tumors are mostly dependent on non-oxidative substrate level phosphorylation due to structural and functional abnormalities in mitochondria. Glucose and glutamine are major fuels for malignant cancer cells. The transition from glucose to ketone bodies as an energy source is an ancestrally conserved adaptation to food deprivation that permits the survival of normal cells during extreme shifts in nutritional environment. Only those cells with a flexible genome, honed through millions of years of environmental forcing and variability selection, can transition from one energy state to another. We propose a different approach to brain cancer management that exploits the metabolic flexibility of normal cells at the expense of the genetically defective and metabolically challenged. This evolutionary and metabolic approach to brain cancer management is supported from studies in orthotopic mouse brain tumor models and from case studies in patients. Calorie restriction and restricted ketogenic diets (R-KD), which reduce circulating glucose levels and elevate ketone levels, are anti-invasive, anti-angiogenic, and pro-apoptotic towards malignant brain cancer. The therapeutic efficacy of some anti-cancer drugs can be enhanced when administered together with the R-KD. Bio: Thomas Seyfried is Professor of Biology at Boston College. He is presently on the editorial boards of Nutrition and Metabolism, Neurochemical Research, the Journal of Lipid Research, and ASNNeuro. His research involves gene-environmental interactions in neurological and neurodegenerative diseases including epilepsy, autism, gangliosidoses, and brain cancer.

What Would I Eat If I Had Cancer?
Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz ***DOWNLOAD THIS RESEARCH DATA FROM THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION: https://www.iarc.fr/en/publications/pdfs-online/prev/handbook9/Handbook9_Cruciferous-Vegetables.pdf Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about what he would eat if you have cancer. Cancer is dependent on sugar metabolism (glycolysis). The uptake of glucose is 10-12 times more for cancer cells than normal cell. Glucose increases tumor growth. High blood sugars can increase the risk of breast cancer. PET scans detect where cancers are due to the fact that they eat sugar. WHAT TO DO: 1. Avoid all sugars 2. Consume cruciferous 3. Consume all organic foods 4. Garlic is the #1 food for cancer in that studies show the most positive impact. 5. Get a good amount of vitamin D from the sun. Thomas Seyfried: Cancer: A Metabolic Disease With Metabolic Solutions
Emerging evidence indicates that cancer is primarily a metabolic disease involving disturbances in energy production through respiration and fermentation. Cancer is suppressed following transfer of the nucleus from the tumor cell to cytoplasm of normal cells containing normal mitochondria. These findings indicate that nuclear genetic abnormalities cannot be responsible for cancer despite commonly held beliefs in the cancer field. The genomic instability observed in tumor cells and all other recognized hallmarks of cancer are considered downstream epiphenomena of the initial disturbance of cellular energy metabolism. The disturbances in tumor cell energy metabolism can be linked to abnormalities in the structure and function of the mitochondria. Cancer growth and progression can be managed following a whole-body transition from fermentable metabolites, primarily glucose and glutamine, to respiratory metabolites, primarily ketone bodies. This transition will reduce tumor vascularity and inflammation while enhancing tumor cell death. A novel “press-pulse” therapeutic strategy is in development for the non-toxic metabolic management of cancer. Malignant brain cancer in preclinical models and humans will be used to illustrate general concepts. As each individual is a unique metabolic entity, personalization of metabolic therapy as a broadbased cancer treatment strategy will require fine-tuning to match the therapy to an individual’s unique physiology. Thomas N. Seyfried received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana, in 1976. He did his undergraduate work at the University of New England, where he recently received the distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. He also holds a Master’s degree in Genetics from Illinois State University. Thomas Seyfried served with distinction in the United States Army’s First Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War and received numerous medals and commendations. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurology at the Yale University School of Medicine and then served on the faculty as an Assistant Professor in Neurology. Other awards and honors have come from such diverse organizations as the American Oil Chemists Society, the National Institutes of Health, The American Society for Neurochemistry, and the Ketogenic Diet Special Interest Group of the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Seyfried previously served as Chair, Scientific Advisory Committee for the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association and presently serves on several editorial boards, including those for Nutrition & Metabolism, Neurochemical Research, the Journal of Lipid Research, and ASN Neuro, where he is a Senior Editor. Dr. Seyfried has over 150 peer-reviewed publications and is the author of the book “Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer (Wiley Press).”

Ketones and Ketogenic Diet Effects on Diseases Like Alzheimer's (Dr. Mary Newport/Richard Veech)
Consider This... The reason coconut oil or MCT oil has this astonishing regenerative effect on the brain is due to the production of ketones through the breakdown of MCT's. So really its not MCT oil that is acting as a miracle drug, its just a method of letting your body use fatty acids as fuel, resulting in the production of ketone bodies, which can also be achieved through a low carb "ketogenic diet". To describe how ketones have this incredible impact of the brain for Alzheimer's patents, we first have to understand the way Alzheimer's effects the brain negatively. With a standard western diet glucose is the primary fuel source for the brain. The brain and other organs in the body use glucose from nutritional intake of carbohydrates to produce ATP or adenosine triphosphate, which is the energy source for all processes in the body. In Alzheimer's patents mitochondrial function is abnormal, you can think of the mitochondria as working like a gasoline generator, but instead of using gas to generate electricity, the mitochondria uses glucose to produce ATP. In cases of Alzheimer's it has been observed that due to insulin resistance, glucose has trouble penetrating the cell wall and entering the mitochondria. FGD-PET scans have shown the vast difference in a normal brain vs a brain with Alzheimer's, the uptake of glucose is severely decreased, resulting in a lack of available energy in the brain. A problem that is also seen in other areas of the body in individuals with diabetes. Which is why Alzheimer's is now being referred to as type 3 diabetes, or diabetes of the brain. The amazing thing about ketones as an alternative fuel source, is that they do not need insulin to allow them to enter cells and mitochondria. Therefor they are able to bypass insulin deficiency and insulin resistance in the brain. Through this same method of ketones providing a new energy pathway, a ton of other diseases can be effectively treated, diseases like Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Type 1 and 2 diabetes, and even has shown improvements in some forms of autism. This isn't the only method in which ketones can treat and prevent disease. It has been observed that the energy production system of cancer cells are not quite as dynamic as the basic human metabolism. Cancer cells are huge consumers of glucose to meet their high energy demand to grow and spread through the body. Depriving them of there only source of fuel can reverse growth and eliminate cancer cells all together. Ketones also provide astonishing antioxidant effects, and are able to enter cells much more efficiently that other antioxidants due to there smaller molecular size. The effects of ketones as antioxidants reduce free radicles and oxidative stress, and Dr. Richard Veech, a leading ketone researcher for the the past 40 years has discovered they could even provide protection from radiation to human tissue. In addition to these disease prevention benefits, there are a wide variety of ways ketones and ketogenic diets can improve lives.
