How to Heal Bone Spurs Naturally - Dr Alan Mandell, DC
Bone spurs, or osteophytes, are excess bone that grows on normal bone. While the name suggests that the growths are sharp or jagged, spurs are typically smooth. Even though they are smooth, spurs can still cause additional damage to your other bones or soft tissues depending on where they rub together. Bone spurs are most common weight bearing joints, in your spine, shoulders, hips, knees, and feet. Make sure you like us on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/motivationaldoc/

It's an additional, unneeded accumulation of bone They also occur where muscles, ligaments, or tendons attach to the bone. Most common symptoms include pain and loss of motion. But bone spurs don't always present symptoms. Some people who have bone spurs never even know it. Even when bone spurs themselves don't cause pain, they can rub against muscles, tendons or ligaments, causing tears and inflammation. They may also put pressure on nerves, causing numbness, tingling or weakness in the affected area. Bone spurs in the spinal column can even cause balance problems. The most common cause of bone spurs is repeated stress, strain or rubbing of a bone over a period of time. They can also occur as cartilage wears down with time and bones begin to scrape against each other. Conditions like osteoarthritis and tendinitis often cause bone spurs, as new bone grows in response to the inflammation they cause. There are certain other medical conditions that are commonly associated with bone spurs, including rotator cuff tears in the shoulders and plantar fasciitis in the feet. If you're experiencing any of the symptoms I've mentioned, see your doctor. Keep in mind that when dealing with any health matter, you should rely only on the advice of a medical professional. I have a number of other videos related to this subject. The links are listed above.

Bone spurs Causes of bone spurs Symptoms of bone spurs Bone spurs treatment What is a bone spurs How to treat bone spurs Home remedies for bone spurs Natural treatment for bone spurs Bone spur heel Bone spur in foot Bone spur in heel Bone spur on top of foot Bone spur in shoulder What Causes a Bone Spur? 1. An exostosis is an overgrowth of bone most commonly seen at a joint. 2. Abnormal Motion at the Level of a Joint- if the movement of the joint is not optimal, over time, there will be bone erosion and formation of osteophytes. 3. Excessive Tension on a bone from a tendon attachment- The pulling of the tendon on the bone may cause the bone to form excess growth. Symptoms of Bone Spurs:- 1. Pain- Pain is usually the result of the exostosis pressing on a nerve, tendon, muscle, or getting in the way of the function of a joint. The pain can range from mild discomfort, to severe pain every time the patient takes a step. The pain can quickly disappear once the patient is at rest, or the pain can persist even beyond activity. 2. Stiffness- If the spur limits the motion of a joint, there will stiffness as the joint is not able to go through its full range of motion. 3. Inflammation- Such as mild swelling and redness over the area. 4. Loss Of Function- If a piece of the spur breaks off and lodges in the joint, the affected joint will “lock” and it will be very painful to try and move the joint. 5. Bone Spurs in the Foot- Spurring in the toes will generally cause corns or even inflame the surrounding tissue causing a bursitis to form.

Joint Arthritis in Foot & Ankle, Joint Foot Pain, Big Toe Pain - Yorkville Oswego Sycamore Dekalb
http://www.advancedfas.com/ Arthritis is inflammation of one or more of your joints. It can cause stiffness and pain in any joint in the body, and is common in the small joints of the foot and ankle. The major types of foot and ankle arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and post traumatic arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease that can affect multiple joints throughout the body, and often starts in the foot and ankle. It is symmetrical, meaning that it usually affects the same joint on both sides of the body. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. This means that the immune system attacks its own tissues. In rheumatoid arthritis, immune cells attack the soft tissue covering the joint, causing it to swell. Over time, the soft tissue invades and damages the bone and cartilage, as well as ligaments and tendons, and may cause serious joint deformity and disability. The major types of arthritis that affect the foot and ankle are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post traumatic arthritis. Osteoarthritis - Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative or "wear-and-tear" arthritis, is a common problem for many people after they reach middle age, but it may occur in younger people, too. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the joint gradually wears away. As the cartilage wears away, it becomes frayed and rough, and the protective space between the bones decreases. This can result in bone rubbing on bone, and produce painful osteophytes (bone spurs). In addition to age, other risk factors for osteoarthritis include obesity and family history of the disease. Osteoarthritis develops slowly, causing pain and stiffness that worsen over time. Rheumatoid Arthritis - The exact cause of rheumatoid arthritis is not known. Although it is not an inherited disease, researchers believe that some people have genes that make them more susceptible. There is usually a "trigger," such as an infection or environmental factor, which activates the genes. When the body is exposed to this trigger, the immune system begins to produce substances that attack the joints. Post traumatic Arthritis - Post traumatic arthritis can develop after an injury to the foot or ankle. Dislocations and fractures—particularly those that damage the joint surface—are the most common injuries that lead to post traumatic arthritis. Like osteoarthritis, post traumatic arthritis causes the cartilage between the joints to wear away. It can develop many years after the initial injury. An injured joint is about seven times more likely than an uninjured joint to become arthritic, even if the injury is properly treated. In fact, following an injury, your body may actually secrete hormones that stimulate the death of your cartilage cells. Contact Drs. Metatarsalgia (Ball of Foot Pain): Let's Discuss Causes & Treatment Info / My Experience Having It
Metatarsalgia is a rather common foot condition that many people suffer from. Essentially, this condition means ball of foot pain where your metatarsal heads are. Your metatarsal heads are the end of your metatarsal bones in your foot, which you have 5 of. When you have Metatarsalgia, you may feel pain with activities such as running, standing, or walking. You may feel an achy or burning feeling, as well as ball of foot pain where your metatarsal heads are. One reason for this condition could be bad footwear. For example, if you wear high heel shoes, this can place excessive pressure on the front of your foot. Having flat feet can also cause this condition to occur through excessive forces. Very tight calves can also cause this condition. One thing you will want to do for this condition is to stretch your calves. Stretch your Soleus and Gastrocnemius muscle. Next you may want to get cushier shoes with a lower heel that provide more shock absorption. Metatarsal pads on the ball of your foot may help you. Try resting from aggravating activities and icing your foot. Sitting in a chair and picking up marbles with your toes to place in a cup can strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles, which can stabilize your foot more. Finally, an orthotic may help you if you have flat feet, as this can take you out of your flat footed position which can aggravate Metatarsalgia and cause sore feet. Total Ankle Replacement Surgery for Arthritis - Manipal Hospital
This video is an informative animated presentation that explains in detail about Total Ankle Replacement Surgery. If a person has severe arthritis in his ankles, a doctor may recommend ankle surgery in a surgical procedure called ankle arthroplasty or total ankle replacement. Overtime the articular cartilage can wear away, causing the exposed bony surfaces to rub together creating bone spurs on the ankle for which ankle bone spur removal is necessary. In addition, arthritis can lead to changes in the shape of the bone of the ankles of the joint. For example, bony projections called bone spurs can develop. Two type of arthritis that can affect the ankle joint and cause ankle arthritis are osteoarthritis (occurs due to the wear and tear on the joint on injury) and rheumatoid arthritis (one of several autoimmune disorders that causes inflammation in the joint). A surgical procedure called total ankle replacement is done to replace a severely damaged ankle joint. The surgeon will make an incision on the front of the damaged ankle to reveal the ankle joint. Knees are the second largest source of recurrent pain, and once you add in the feet and hips, it turns out that the legs can cause big problems for a lot of people. Simple tip-toeing, besides strengthening your calves, helps improve your balance by reducing the area in contact with the ground, which makes keeping your balance quite a challenge. It strengthens your glutes and core muscles, improves your posture while simultaneously relieving back pain, increases the flexibility of your ankles, stretches the muscles around your shins, which are an otherwise difficult muscle group to target. Heel raises, ankle circles, resistance training and toe games are all effective exercises for relieving pain in different parts of your legs. Try to do rolling foot massage on a daily basis and do as many reps as you want or have time for. It gives the bottom of your foot a nice stretch and prevents foot-related injuries in the long run. Music: Diamond Ortiz - Inevitable https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Exercise #1. Heel raises 1:01 Exercise #2. Tip-toeing 3:22 Exercise #3. Ankle circles 4:34 Exercise #4. Resistance training 5:47 Exercise #5. Toe games 7:42 Exercise #6. Rolling foot massage 9:24 Bonus 10:04 SUMMARY -You’ll need to grab a chair for this exercise. Stand behind it and use the back of the chair to support yourself. This exercise helps strengthen your ankles and works the muscles around the knee. -Simply tip-toe around your house kind of quickly. This will strengthen your calves and give a little workout to your toes and the balls of your feet. Aim to do this exercise regularly for 5 to 15 minutes or until you get tired. -This exercise helps loosen up the tendons and muscles in your legs and ankles. It’ll improve your flexibility, range of motion, and overall comfort while walking or standing. -Resistance training targets the muscles in your calves and inner and outer thighs, not only toning but also strengthening them. -Toe games is an important exercise because it strengthens the tiny muscles in your toes and feet. They tend to be underdeveloped, which can be a big problem since they support your arches, keep your toes properly aligned, and even contribute to balance. -Rolling foot massage works the muscles in the heels and balls of your feet. It’s also a nice relaxing massage for your arches. -If your feet are killing you after a long day, use one thumb to put pressure on the spot between your big toe and pointer toe and use the other thumb to press the point between your ring toe and pinky toe. Gently massage these spots for up to 15 minutes for easy and quick relaxation. I'm doing this video because I've had some knee pain lately, and I found out that I've developed a bone spur. So I started doing some reading immediately on reputable medical sites like these, and I'll summarize what I've learned in the next minute or so. Bone spurs are hard growths that develop along the edges of your bones, often where two bones meet in your joints. You can see a bone spur in the graphic to the left of the screen. The most common reason for bone spurs is a condition called osteoarthritis, which causes joint damage. Osteoarthritis tends to occur in people as they get older. A lot of the time, you don't even know you have a bone spur -- there may be no symptoms and no treatment needed. But sometimes, bone spurs can cause a lot of discomfort and trigger loss of motion in your joints. Specific symptoms depend on where the bone spurs appear. Most occur in the following places. Knee. Bending or extension can cause discomfort. The knee won't move as smoothly. Spine. Bone spurs can narrow the space that contains your spinal cord, pinching nerves roots and causing weakness or numbness in your arms or legs. Hip. Besides causing pain, bone spurs can reduce the range of motion in your hip joint. Shoulder. Bone spurs can cramp a group of muscles and tendons known as the rotator cuff, which helps control your shoulder movements. This can cause swelling and muscle tears. Fingers. When they're large enough, bone spurs appear as hard, knobby (and unattractive) lumps under your skin. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help relieve discomfort. But in severe cases, your doctor will recommend surgical removal. (See the links above to view videos on related topics.)

Arthritis in Foot - Seattle Foot & Ankle Center
What Is Osteoarthritis? Osteoarthritis is a condition characterized by the breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage in one or more joints. Learn more: https://seattlefeet.com/arthritis Cartilage—the connective tissue found at the end of the bones in the joints—protects and cushions the bones during movement. When cartilage deteriorates or is lost, symptoms develop that can restrict one’s ability to easily perform daily activities. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative arthritis, reflecting its nature to develop as part of the aging process. As the most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis affects millions of Americans. Many people refer to osteoarthritis simply as arthritis, even though there are more than 100 different types of arthritis. Osteoarthritis appears at various joints throughout the body, including the hands, feet, spine, hips, and knees. In the foot, the disease most frequently occurs in the big toe, although it is also often found in the midfoot and ankle. Signs and Symptoms People with osteoarthritis in the foot or ankle experience, in varying degrees, one or more of the following: • Pain and stiffness in the joint • Swelling in or near the joint • Difficulty walking or bending the joint Some patients with osteoarthritis also develop a bone spur (a bony protrusion) at the affected joint. Shoe pressure may cause pain at the site of a bone spur, and in some cases blisters or calluses may form over its surface. Bone spurs can also limit the movement of the joint. Causes Osteoarthritis is considered a “wear and tear” disease because the cartilage in the joint wears down with repeated stress and use over time. As the cartilage deteriorates and gets thinner, the bones lose their protective covering and eventually may rub together, causing pain and inflammation of the joint. An injury may also lead to osteoarthritis, although it may take months or years after the injury for the condition to develop. For example, osteoarthritis in the big toe is often caused by kicking or jamming the toe, or by dropping something on the toe. Osteoarthritis in the midfoot is often caused by dropping something on it, or by a sprain or fracture. In the ankle, osteoarthritis is usually caused by a fracture and occasionally by a severe sprain. Sometimes osteoarthritis develops as a result of abnormal foot mechanics. People who have flat feet or high arches are at increased risk for developing osteoarthritis in the foot. A flat foot causes less stability in the ligaments (bands of tissue that connect bones), resulting in excessive strain on the joints, which can cause arthritis. A high arch is rigid and lacks mobility, causing a jamming of joints that creates an increased risk of arthritis. Diagnosis In diagnosing osteoarthritis, Dr. Hoy will examine the foot thoroughly, looking for swelling in the joint, limited mobility, and pain with movement. In some cases, deformity and/or enlargement (spur) of the joint may be noted. In addition to the foot examination, x-rays may be ordered to help the doctor diagnose osteoarthritis and evaluate the extent of the disease in the foot and ankle. Treatment: Non-surgical Options To help relieve symptoms, Dr. Hoy may begin treating osteoarthritis with one or more of the following non-surgical approaches: • Oral medications. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, are often helpful in reducing the inflammation and pain. Occasionally a prescription for a steroid medication is needed to adequately reduce symptoms. In addition, certain nutritional supplements may provide some longer-term benefit. • Orthotic devices. Custom orthotic devices (shoe inserts) are often prescribed to provide support to improve the foot’s mechanics or cushioning to help minimize pain. • Bracing. Bracing, which restricts motion and supports the joint, can reduce pain during walking and help prevent further deformity. • Immobilization. Protecting the foot from movement by wearing a cast or removable cast-boot may be necessary to allow the inflammation to resolve. • Steroid injections. In some cases, steroid injections are applied to the affected joint to deliver anti-inflammatory medication. • Physical therapy. Exercises to strengthen the muscles, especially when the osteoarthritis occurs in the ankle, may give the patient greater stability and help avoid injury that might worsen the condition. When Is Surgery Needed? If non-surgical treatment fails to adequately reduce the pain associated with osteoarthritis, surgery may be recommended. The goal of surgery is to decrease pain and improve function. Dr. Hoy will consider a number of factors when selecting the procedure best suited to the patient’s condition and lifestyle.
Osteophytes - Bone Spurs - Arthritis
Healing from Osteophytes, commonly referred to as bone spurs or parrot beak, are bony projections that form along joint margins. They should not be confused with enthesophytes, which are bony projections which form at the attachment of a tendon or ligament. Osteophytes form because of the increase in a damaged joint's surface area. This is most common from the onset of arthritis. Osteophytes usually limit joint movement and typically cause pain. Osteophytes form naturally on the back of the spine as a person ages and are a sign of degeneration in the spine. In this case the spurs are not the source of back pains, but instead are the common symptom of a deeper problem. However, bone spurs on the spine can impinge on nerves that leave the spine for other parts of the body. This impingement can cause pain in both upper and lower limbs and a numbness or tingling sensations in the hands and feet because the nerves are supplying sensation to their dermatomes.

Miracle Remedies For Heel Spurs To Relieve Pain
If you like the video then do subscribe to my channel. Please leave me a comment for any tips you want and give a thumbs up. Follow Body and Beauty: https://www.facebook.com/BodyandBeauty11/ Home Remedies for Heel Spurs to Relieve the Pain A heel spur is a condition which causes calcium deposits that lead to a bony intrusion under the heel bone. It is often associated to the inflammation of the connective tissues between the foot and the heel bone and thus, leaving you in pain. It may also lead to swelling, irritation and weakening of the arch bone. While the treatment includes exercise, anti-inflammatory medicines and surgery in some cases to remove the calcium deposits, there are few natural solutions to help you deal with the pain. Causes of Heel Spurs Heel spurs are mostly common among athletes but too much strain on the foot muscles and ligaments can put anyone at risk. Here are some of the most common risk factors: • Running or jogging excessively on hard surfaces • Walking abnormally while putting too much stress on the heel bone • Obesity and excessive weight • Wearing ill-fitted shoes regularly that do not support the arch properly • Being diabetic • People who have flat feel or high arches In addition to this, here are seven easy home remedies that can provide a good degree of relief from the throbbing pain. 1. Epsom salt bath Epsom salt is nothing but magnesium sulphate. Interestingly, most of the magnesium in our body is stored in the bones. Sprinkle some Epsom salt in water and dip your feet in it. You can also gently massage your heels with it. 2. Massage with essential oils Pure essential oils like rosemary or lavender and even everyday oils such as coconut and olive oil can help reduce pain due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut oil also acts as a natural moisturizer that softens your heels. Just warm up the oil slightly and rub it deeply but gently into your heel. 3. Apple cider vinegar Apple cider vinegar is the new super food. It can cure anything from skin and stomach problems to pain. Apple cider vinegar is known to pull out the excess calcium from the bone and bring relief. You can either soak your feet in a tub of warm water with few drops of apple cider vinegar or wrap a wet towel drenched in it around your heel for few minutes. 4. Ice pack If you’re looking for quick and instant relief you should look at doing cold fomentation. Applying an ice pack on the affected area for few minutes is a great way to soothe swelling and pain. Avoid applying ice directly to your heel – use an ice pack or wrap in in a towel. 5. Baking soda You’ll be surprised to know the number of things this humble kitchen ingredient can be used for. From giving you beautiful skin to whitening your teeth, baking soda offers a lot of benefits. It works directly on the calcium crystals deposited in the heel. Make a paste by mixing half teaspoon of baking soda in water and apply this on your heel. Baking soda also helps in balancing the PH levels.

Joints are especially susceptible to wear and tear because of the movement and pressure that are necessarily applied to them.Joints are where two bones meet. They are connected with ligaments, tendons, and cartilage to each other and the surrounding muscles. The knee joint is the largest in the human body. It handles a tremendous amount of stress as it allows lower body mobility while supporting the upper body. Over time, the cartilage at the end of the bones that form the joint can deteriorate. In addition, there are fluid sacs in the knee capsule to keep the joint lubricated. These bursae can become irritated or inflamed if injured, resulting in bursitis. There are many potential causes for knee joint pain: Osteoarthritis – a chronic condition that occurs when the cartilage between bones breaks down Rheumatoid arthritis – an autoimmune disease that affects joints, causing swelling Bursitis – inflammation of fluid sacs either in front or directly behind the kneecap Immuno-inflammatory conditions Injury/over-use Infection Tendonitis – inflammation of tendons Gout – a form of arthritis in which uric acid accumulates and crystals of it settle in a joint Fortunately for our knees, there are natural remedies to reduce inflammation and ease the pain. The following recipe is a knee joint pain relieving rub. It contains effective anti-inflammatories and analgesics. Let’s look at what’s in it. 1. Cayenne. Cayenne has been used by Native Americans for millennia for pain relief. Capsaicin is a phytochemical in this spicy pepper that relieves pain through a variety of mechanisms. First, capsaicin blocks chemical pain transmitter “substance P” from reaching the brain. Second, when applied topically, it penetrates the skin to defunctionalize fibers that respond to pain stimuli. Through the skin, capsaicin stops nerves fibers from feeling pain and transmitting it. The capsaicin in cayenne is also effective for inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Cayenne works to relieve inflammation when taken internally as well. 2. Apple Cider Vinegar. Supremely beneficial for human health in a wide range of applications, ACV is a potent anti-inflammatory that can relieve joint stiffness. The acetic acid in ACV penetrates the skin and can help to break up acid crystals that can form in the joint. Acetic acid has also been found to provide effective relief for tendonitis and other joint inflammation. (2) Additionally, unfiltered ACV contains bone-supporting minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. 3. Olive Oil. Anti-inflammatory and emollient, olive oil is a wonderful carrier oil. 4. Ginger. A potent anti-inflammatory, the phytochemical gingerol inhibits excessive immune response that results in inflammation. A 2014 study of the daily topical application of ginger on joints of people with osteoarthritis (OA) resulted in pain relief within a week and continued for the 24-week duration of the study. Natural Rub Recipe for Bone, Knee and Joint Pain You can apply this paste on any joint to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. You may want to experiment with the recipe and mix half the amount of ACV with the olive oil; sometimes the rub can be quite strong and the olive oil will lessen heat and make the paste easier to apply. All of these ingredients will also reduce inflammation if you eat them. Please note that cayenne can stain fabrics, so take care around adjacent clothing. Big Toe Arthritis | Pain Relief with Orthotics
Arthritis of the big toe, or Hallux Rigidus, is the wearing away of the joint surfaces of the toe, as well as the development of bone spurs. The big toe is a vital component of foot function. It bears much of the force created during walking and running. Due to this, a big toe affected by arthritis can be debilitating. Symptoms of this ailment include pain while walking or running, swelling, and loss of mobility in the toe. Over time, without treatment, favoring the toe can change your gait, causing even more systemic problems. To correct or alleviate this condition, it is necessary to restore the foot’s optimal arch, effectively unlocking the big toe, and allowing it to function normally. It is the only practical way to address both the symptoms and the cause of many foot ailments, including big toe arthritis. At McDowell Podiatry Group, we use Sole Supports custom orthotics to help you get better. These custom orthotics, casted to your unique foot to provide support and comfort. Patient Testimony after Arthritic Bone Spur Surgery with Dr Wellens
Listen to this patient testimony only 12 days after surgery.
Arthritis: 8 Early Warning Signs
Arthritis: 8 Early Warning Signs Some forms of arthritis (there are more than 100) can strike anytime, but most often arthritis begins to happen to people in their late 40s or early 50s. The sooner you realize (and accept) that it's happening to you, the soooner you can take steps to protect your joints against a fture featuring persistent pain -- or permanent damage The most common early warning signs and symptoms follow. Typically, these can come and go over time. #1 Morning stiffness. This is a classic symptom. The longer it takes to "loosen up" after you get out of bed, the more likely it is that you're developing arthritis. #2 Going up or down stairs becomes uncomfortable or even painful. You may feel stabs of pain in a knee, or the joint may occasionally lock. #3: Sudden, sharp, stabbing pain in a big toe. This is a symptom of gout, the second-most common form of arthritis and the most common type of inflammatory arthritis. The toe joint will also look red, and feel warm and and tender when you touch it. #4 Fatigue and flu-like symptoms. Many people don't realize that arthritis can cause chronic tiredness, loss of appetite, weight loss, anemia, and/or fever -- just like the flu. #5 Frequent soreness or pain in the hands, making them uncomfortable to use sometimes. Things like buttoning a shirt, tying shoelaces, turning a key in a lock, grasping a doorknob, snapping fingers cause discomfort or even sharp stabs of pain. #6 Bumps appear on fingers. Excess bone grows in joints causing reduced flexibility, disfiguration or deformity at the joints. The joint is probably also stiff to move, although not necessarily painful. Sometimes this excess bone (known as a bone spur) happens in the toes too. #7 Chronic pain discourages you from participating in activities you normally enjoy. You start avoiding family events or other activities you feel worn down by chronic pain. #8 Pain disrupts sleep patterns. Either you have trouble falling asleep, or pain wakes you up during the night. Early warning signs of arthritis can sometimes be deceptive for those who are physically active. You may think you didn't warm up enough, or "worked out too hard" when soreness or stiffness appear. But, in fact, it may be an indication that arthritis has begun.
