How to Get a Chemo Patient to Eat|protein shakes for chemo patients
How to Get a Chemo Patient to Eat|protein shakes for chemo patients One of the most common side effects of chemotherapy is loss of appetite and weight loss. This may be secondary to nausea and vomiting, mouth ulcers that prevent eating or swallowing, depression, changes in taste and/or dry mouth. It is vital that a patient receiving chemotherapy remain hydrated and eat nutrient-dense foods during treatment. Scroll down to Step 1 below to help the patient stay as healthy as possible while receiving chemotherapy. 1 Find high-calorie foods that appeal to the patient. Cravings are often the body’s subliminal attempt to signal a person to eat substances and nutrients in which they are deficient. What does he or she particularly enjoy? Keep the foods they crave around the house and easily accessible. Some examples of calorie and protein dense foods are milk shakes, cheese, smoothies, pudding, chicken, eggs, lean red meat, fish, yogurt, ice cream, peanut butter, almond butter, whole grain toast, lentils, spinach and garlic. 2 Keep snacks around to munch on throughout the day. Examples of high-calorie and protein snacks include: Half a cup of nuts and a fruit 2 graham crackers or a slice of whole grain bread with natural peanut or almond butter A mix of carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber or celery sticks with canola or olive oil based dressing Popcorn trail mix consisting of 1 cup of popcorn made with canola oil and missed with quarter cup of nuts and 2 tablespoons of raisins Low-fat yogurt with 2-3 tablespoons chopped nuts 1 cup of whole grain cereal with skim milk Fruit smoothie consisting of 6 ounces of low fat vanilla yogurt, half a cup of skim milk, a cup of berries 3 Drink plenty of fluids that are not caffeinated or alcohol based. A major symptom of chemotherapy is having a dry mouth (xerostomia). Aside from it being important to hydrate, constantly drinking healthy fluids combats this symptom, too.[1] Water, flavored water, coconut water, smoothies, liquid nutrition supplements, ice cream, sorbet, sherbet, pudding, fruit based popsicles, crushed ice, herbal teas, decaffeinated coffee and teas are all good examples of non-caffeinated beverages. Nutritional supplements such as Ensure and Boost are good as well. SUBSCRIBE TO MORE VIDEOS

How I Killed Cancer - All Protein Diet a Key to Recovery
Killing Cancer Cells with Atkins and Ketosis Diet The basic principle of the Atkins diet is that a state of ketosis will help you burn your fat stores as energy. Many people, even those who are on low carbohydrate diets, don't quite understand ketosis and why it works. Most diets are calorie-reduction diets. They help you lose weight, but some of the weight is from fat and some of it is from lean muscle tissue. While you may look smaller on the scale, your metabolism is actually slowing down. The more muscle you lose the slower your metabolism will be. This makes losing weight more difficult and gaining weight back even simpler. The Atkins diet, on the other hand, is carbohydrate restrictive. It creates a state of ketosis in your body that burns only fat, and not muscle. The primary source of your energy for your body will be fat in the form of ketones. Your liver will convert fat into ketones and it cannot be converted back. It will be excreted naturally.

Protein To Reduce Spread Of Cancer Identified
Subscribe to Health Channel : https://goo.gl/qwUdQQ Protein To Reduce Spread Of Cancer Identified In a new study, researchers have found a new protein that could reduce the spread of cancer by binding the cancer cells together and allowing them to invade tissues. The study was conducted by the researchers from University of Guelph, Ontario. During the study, the researchers have identified a protein called cadherin-22, a potential factor in cancer metastasis or the spread of cancer. In addition to this the protein also decreased the adhesion and invasion rate of breast and brain cancer cells by up to 90 per cent. "Cadherin-22 could be a powerful prognostic marker for advanced cancer stages and patient outcomes. If you can find a treatment or a drug that can block cadherin-22, you could potentially prevent cancer cells from moving, invading and metastasizing" said lead author Jim Uniacke, a professor at the varsity. During the course of the study, researchers found that it is precisely under conditions of low oxygen that cancer cells trigger the production of cadherin-22, putting in motion a kind of protein boost that helps bind cells together, enhancing cellular movement, invasion and likely metastasis. Studying breast and brain cancer cells in a hypoxia incubator, the researchers discovered that cadherin-22 is involved in this process to enable the spread of cancer cells. For both cancer types, the research team used molecular tools to reduce the amount of cadherin-22...

KILL CANCER TUMORS With this [GIANT SEEDS], Packed Powerful Antioxidant Helps PREVENT CANCER
Eat avocado seeds to KILL CANCER CELLS http://bit.ly/2Bh29mw, strengthen the immune system! YOU’VE BEEN THROWING AWAY YOUR AVOCADO SEEDS, Powerful Antioxidant http://bit.ly/2kLycjf Filled Superfood http://bit.ly/2CFuAXp Helps FIGHT CANCER http://bit.ly/2BNeuOV! Avocados are super-healthy green fruits that are packed with vitamins, phytonutrients, and benefits your whole body. From your hair down to your feet, avocados and their oil are useful, even the seeds can be eaten. Did you know that? You’re probably used to throwing the big seeds in your compost or in your guacamole to keep it as fresh as possible. But these seeds are highly nutritious—in fact, an avocado seed has more antioxidants than the fleshy fruit. THE SEED OF HEALTH Most people don’t know that the avocado seed has more antioxidants than most fruits and vegetables. More, even, than most healing teas. The seeds give you more soluble fiber than any other food! Avocado seeds have a nourishing, antioxidant-rich oil that lower high cholesterol and help prevent stroke and heart disease. Eating avocado seeds is a great way to reduce inflammatory diseases in the body. Specifically, the avocado seed’s powerful benefits work to ease swelling in the gastrointestinal tract. In addition to aiding the GI tract, avocado seeds help relieve diarrhea and constipation naturally and effectively. The antioxidants known as phenolic compounds in avocado seeds make it useful for soothing gastric ulcers. These compounds contain antibacterial and antiviral properties that make the seeds effective at preventing ulcers all along the lining of the digestive system. WHY YOU SHOULD EAT AVOCADO SEEDS 1. Kills Cancer Cells 70% of the antioxidants in avocados are found in the seeds. The seeds contain flavonol, a powerful antioxidant that helps to prevent and reduce tumor growth. A 2013 study published in Pharmaceutical Biology found avocado extract from the flesh caused leukemia cells to self-destruct. In a more recent study published in the peer-reviewed journal Cancer Research, researchers discovered that a compound found in avocado seed extract called avocatin B was effective against acute myeloid leukemia cells. In total, study researchers tested 800 natural health products against the human acute myeloid leukemia cells. 2. Strengthens The Immune System Avocado seeds contain procyanidins and catechins. They have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce stiffness, swelling, joint pain and diseases. Flavonol in avocado also boosts the immune system and help protects from cold and flu. 3. Heals Digestive Issues For centuries, avocado seeds have been used in South America to treat gastrointestinal tract issues, including gastric ulcers, constipation, and diarrhea. These anti-inflammatory seeds contain more soluble fibers than most other foods on our planet! 4. Protects Heart Health Avocados are an excellent source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat and thanks to their amino acid and dietary fiber content, the seeds can help lower cholesterol and prevent cardiovascular issues such as the formation of plaque, which can lead to strokes and heart attack “This soluble fiber binds to the fat and excess cholesterol. Then we can lower cholesterol and improve heart function naturally. Soluble fiber is tough to get in our diet. Oatmeal has some, but it cannot compare with the avocado seed.” 5. Live Longer, Feel Better The seeds don’t just help you look younger, they help you feel younger too. Compounds in avocado seeds have the ability to reduce bone disease, joint discomfort, and aches and pains. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals that cause illness and premature aging. Avocados and their seeds, actually slow down the aging process because of their ability to synthesize collagen. Avocado seeds can lower blood glucose levels and help you maintain a healthy weight. Due to its high content of good fats, you will stay satiated for longer, meaning you won’t be munching on snacks all day long. HOW TO PREPARE YOUR AVOCADO SEEDS So now you’re asking, “how can I get all these amazing benefits from this huge seed?” Of course you can’t just bite into it, and it won’t go through the juicer, so how do you get the goodness out of this seed? The next time you eat avocados, keep the seeds and wash them. Dry them with a paper towel and put them into a dehydrator or oven to bake it. Heat the oven to 250oF (120oC) and bake the seeds for 2 hours, till the outer skin of the seed cracks. Discard the outer skin. The seeds will now be soft enough that you can use a knife to cut it into smaller pieces. Throw them into your blender and blend them into powder form. You can use the powder still in its moist form, or lightly roast it and store them away dry (keep longer). Your moist powder may appear whitish, or when roasted may appear orange in color.

The Best Advice on Diet and Cancer

(All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from his books, DVDs, and speaking directly support NutritionFacts.org). The level of evidence required to make decisions depends on the level of risk. If we’re talking about some new drug, for example, given the fact that medications kill more than 100,000 Americans a year (Why Prevention Is Worth a Ton of Cure (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/why-prevention-is-worth-a-ton-of-cure/)) you want to be darn sure that the benefits outweigh the risks before you prescribe it (or take it!). But what level of evidence do you need to eat broccoli? Do you need randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trials? (How would you even design a placebo vegetable?) Even if all the evidence suggesting powerful broccoli turned out to be some crazy cruciferous conspiracy, what’s the worst that could have happened. It’s healthy anyway. Protein and Cancer: The Truth About High-Protein Diets
Think a high-protein diet is good for you? Think again. On this episode of The Sitch, we're talking about why eating too much protein may increase your risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Years of research has shown that high protein diets may contribute to chronic disease and aging by raising levels of a hormone known as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). Mice restricted of protein live longer than those fed a normal diet. Today's episode discusses the research on protein intake and the appropriate amount for normal growth, muscle building, and specific populations like pregnant women and the elderly. ***Correction: original video stated 1 pound = 2.2 kilograms. How to Manage Chemotherapy Symptoms Through Food | Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Eating well during chemotherapy treatment can be a challenge. Chemotherapy can affect both appetite and flavor preference. Foods may start to taste strange or take on a metallic taste. In addition, there are many other symptoms that may affect your ability to keep yourself well-nourished. But don't despair! Here are ways to keep your body healthy and your immune system supported during treatment. For more information, recipes, and tips, and to watch more videos on Eating Well During Cancer, visit http://www.dana-farber.org/eatingwell. Transcription: I’m Stacy Kennedy, a nutrition specialist for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Welcome to eating well during cancer. Today, I’d like to talk with you about how to help manage symptoms associated with treatment, specifically with chemotherapy. During chemotherapy treatment, it’s very common for patients to not really feel like eating, or for appetite to be low, or the taste of food to be off. In addition there are often many other symptoms that can impact your overall wellness and ability to keep yourself well-nourished through a healthy diet. Things like fatigue are very common, bowel changes, like constipation or diarrhea, mouth sores, and nausea. There are so many tips and tricks, and easy, simple ways that you can go about keeping your body healthy, your immune system supported during your treatment, even in the face of all of these symptoms. When it comes to taste changes, if food doesn’t taste good, it’s very hard for it be desirable to eat. One of the ways to help make food taste better is to think about some different flavors. Often times tart, or more sour flavors, things like a pomegranate, ginger, lemon, apples—those can help manage some of that off, or undetectable taste. Now, if you’re experiencing mouth sores, tart flavors can sometimes burn, so you would want to consider something a little more soothing. Think of the texture and flavor, say, of a baked sweet potato. When it comes to a lot of symptoms that I described, there are some overarching, or common, themes that can really help to manage all of these symptoms. For example: To stay well hydrated. If water doesn’t taste good, consider flavoring your water naturally. Not only will you stay hydrated, you’ll get a boost in immune-supporting phytonutrients. One great tip for nausea is to make a tea using ginger and lemons. Ginger and lemon have both been shown in research to have some anti-nausea properties, and they’re in that flavor profile, which can be really, really helpful. In addition to that, having small, frequent meals and drinking your fluids in smaller amounts throughout the day can really make a big difference. Oftentimes, seeing a large plate of food will really decrease a person’s appetite during chemotherapy. So using a smaller plate, making things colorful and light, can really make a big, big difference. When it comes to eating throughout the day, including a healthy source of protein is also a good way to help stave off nausea, and also to reduce some fatigue. When we think about keeping our bowels healthy, eating that plant-based diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, can really make a big difference, when it comes to constipation. If you’re experiencing diarrhea, some fruits and vegetables may be harder to digest. There are many ways to go about helping this, while still staying on your healthy diet. That would include sometimes making a smoothie, or fresh juice. For many more recipes and tips and tricks for managing your symptoms in a healthy, natural way, visit our website, or download our free app.
Cancer, Alzheimer's & Protein Origami | David Pincus | TEDxBeaconStreet
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The two diseases most likely to afflict us as we age – cancer and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's – may both have an Achilles' heel. David Pincus will argue that the two are fundamentally linked by the vital cellular process of "protein folding". This provocative talk posits that protein folding is the key to unlocking all cancers – not just for treating specific cancers, like breast cancer or lung cancer – and for all neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and ALS. David Pincus, a Fellow at the Whitehead Institute and recipient of the NIH Director's Early Independence Award, is a molecular and cell biologist given the rare opportunity to direct an independent research laboratory and pursue his scientific ideas immediately following completion of his PhD. His studies on how cells respond to stress point to an underlying connection between cancer and neurodegenerative diseases that he hopes to exploit through research to potentially solve both. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

What Would I Eat If I Had Cancer?
Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz ***DOWNLOAD THIS RESEARCH DATA FROM THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION: https://www.iarc.fr/en/publications/p... Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about what he would eat if you have cancer. Cancer is dependent on sugar metabolism (glycolysis). The uptake of glucose is 10-12 times more for cancer cells than normal cell. Glucose increases tumor growth. High blood sugars can increase the risk of breast cancer. PET scans detect where cancers are due to the fact that they eat sugar. WHAT TO DO: 1. Avoid all sugars 2. Consume cruciferous 3. Consume all organic foods 4. Garlic is the #1 food for cancer in that studies show the most positive impact. 5. Get a good amount of vitamin D from the sun. Keto Diet, Fasting & Protein Restriction for Cancer w/ Miriam Kalamian
Back in 2007, Miriam leveraged the ketogenic diet to help shrink her seven-year-old son’s brain tumor. Part 2 of this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y-4i9syleQ Instead of moving him to palliative care, as the doctors had suggested, Miriam and her husband ramped up the family's nutrition to help their son live seven more good years—much longer than doctors thought was possible. There are metabolic pathways that are dysregulated in cancer, like the mTOR pathway.  19:26 The ketogenic diet is a systems approach.  20:24 Limiting protein is essential to a successful ketogenic diet for cancer. If protein is not limited, mTOR is stimulated throughout the system. With cancer treatment, keep mTOR upregulation specific to muscle tissue.  24:28 There is room for eating seasonal fruit, berries and vegetables on the ketogenic diet.  25:30 Miriam has seen the worst cancer outcomes in people who eat 10 to 12 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.    28:51 There is more thermogenesis when you burn fat. 30:54 1.0 grams per kilogram of body weight is sufficient protein.  32:48 Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding need to work with a specialist if they are doing a ketogenic diet for any reason.  36:30 High fat diet studies do not use ketogenic diets.    43:43 There is a short comment period for the government dietary guidelines that ends that the end of March. Comment! 44:54 The brain needs the energy equivalent of 130 grams of sugar, not 130 grams of carbohydrates. Sixty to 70 percent of this need can be met with ketones. Our bodies make the needed glucose. 46:50 A modified Atkins or a more liberalized ketogenic diet, is about 12 milligrams per deciliter higher in glucose on the average, which may mean the difference between a tumor growing or not growing. 47:21 Cancer robs glutamine from its neighbors. 49:45 Press Pulse Therapy is being researched for management of glutamine. 52:42 Keto is not the cure for cancer. It is an adjunct therapy. 53:06 In brain cancer, the results of ketogenic diet therapy is dramatic and people live many years past the initial prognosis. 54:36 You change the terrain to be inhospitable to cancer growth. It is not just about doing the ketogenic diet, but changing the lifestyle. 56:53 The ketogenic diet brought Miriam and her husband 6 ½ years of good quality of life time with their son before he died. 58:28 There may be cancers that do not respond to the ketogenic diet. 01:00:38 Drug therapies cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.    01:03:33 Fasting helps with housekeeping, clearing out dead cells.  01:05:01 In a case study in Egypt of glioblastoma multiforme and Keto 01:07:23 Temozolomide (Temodar) may give methylating patients 2 ½ months.   01:15:00 A Diet Skeptics and Saboteur presentation is on Miriam’s website. 01:15:58 A ketogenic diet has potential for improving quality of ageing.  01:22:18 Strong abs or a daily walk makes for less constipation.    01:25:22 How you sit on the toilet makes a difference in defecation.    01:26:25 The advised morning routine for someone with cancer.  01:33:28 Miriam’s favorite herbs or nutrients 01:35:04 Miriam’s elevator pitch

How and Why Too Much Protein Triggers Aging and Cancer with Garth Davis, M.D.
An acclaimed surgeon specializing in weight loss delivers a paradigm-shifting examination of the diet and health industry’s focus on protein, explaining why it is detrimental to our health and can prevent us from losing weight. Whether you are seeing a doctor, nutritionist, or a trainer, all of them advise you to eat more protein. Foods, drinks, and supplements are loaded with extra protein. Many people use protein for weight control, to gain or lose pounds, while others believe it gives them more energy and is essential for a longer, healthier life. Now, Dr. Garth Davis, an expert in weight loss asks, “Is all this protein-making us healthier?” The answer, he emphatically argues, is NO. Too much protein is actually making us sick, fat, and tired, according to Dr. Davis. If you are getting adequate calories in your diet, there is no such thing as protein deficiency. The healthiest countries in the world eat far less protein than we do and yet we have an entire nation on a protein binge getting sicker by the day. As a surgeon treating obese patients, Dr. Davis was frustrated by the ever-increasing number of sick and overweight patients, but it wasn't until his own health scare that he realized he could do something about it. Combining cutting-edge research, with his hands-on patient experience and his years dedicated to analyzing studies of the world’s longest-lived populations, this explosive, groundbreaking lecture reveals the truth about the dangers of protein and shares a proven approach to weight loss, health, and longevity. Do Ketogenic Diets Reverse Cancer? Protein (Part 1)
Ketogenic diets have been promoted as the answer to epilepsy, Alzheimer's, Diabetes, weightloss and even cancer. The reasoning i that cancer cells thrive on glucose and cannot use ketones for energy whereas normal cells can use ketones thus starving the cancer cells of sugar while on a ketogenic diet. I discuss that theory in this 3-part series on ketogenic diets and cancer. Excess Protein = Cancer (You Won't Believe Who Agrees!)
Original article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/05/07/too-much-protein-triggers-aging-cancer.aspx Dr. Michael Greger's video on cancer and methionine restriction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVAog5_muNw America continues its love affair with protein, and cancer rates continue to soar. Why are we so obsessed with a nutrient that it's virtually impossible to have a deficiency in? Did we not ever think that there could be an upper limit to consumption? That at some point it's no longer good for us? Well the science is now clear that excess protein causes cancer, and what's crazy is that doctors and scientists from both the high-carb/low-fat camp and the low-carb/high-fat camp are jumping on the low protein bandwagon.

Whey Protein & Prostate Cancer
http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/endosterol.html http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store/endosterol.html Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor that affects the prostate, a walnut-sized gland in men located below the bladder. Prostate cancer is the third most common cause of cancer-related death among men of all ages, the University of Maryland Medical Center says. Researchers bathed isolated prostate cells in a solution containing whey protein and this caused the prostate cells to express more glutathione, a powerful antioxidant, according to EurekaAlert.org. Enhanced levels of glutathione in prostate cells decreases your risk of developing prostate cancer. Prostate Cancer Risk Factors Your risk of developing prostate cancer is affected by factors such as age, ethnicity, family history and diet. About 70 percent to 90 percent of men by the age of 80 have had prostate cancer, the American Cancer Society says. People of African and Caucasian descent have a higher probability of developing prostate cancer than Latin Americans, the University of Maryland Medical Center notes. If you have brothers who have prostate cancer, then you are about 4.5 times more likely to have prostate cancer. If you have a father with prostate cancer, you are 2.3 times likely to develop it. Eating a diet with a lot of saturated fat will increase your testosterone production. Testosterone stimulates prostate growth and increases your chances of developing prostate cancer. Whey Protein Protection from Prostate Cancer Free radical build-up in the prostate area is closely associated with the onset of cancer, EurekAlert.org explains. Researchers at Ohio State University treated human prostate cells with whey protein for two days and measured the glutathione levels after. The human prostate cells treated with whey proteins increased glutathione levels by as much as 64 percent. The experiment also demonstrated that the sample treated with a dose that was half the concentration of the other increased levels of glutathione by about 60 percent. This suggests that even a small dose of whey protein can be immensely beneficial to prostate cells. Whey protein contains cysteine, an amino acid that increases glutathione in the prostate. Cysteine helps to make healthy levels of glutathione in the prostate. Healthy levels of glutathione in the prostate protects the gland from cancer. Whey Protein Dose As an appetite suppressant, adults should take up to 50 g of whey protein once a day, MayoClinic.com says. The dose can be adjusted to compensate for body weight at a rate of half a gram of whey protein for every kilogram of body weight. The recommended daily dose also varies according to purpose. Children under 18 years of age can take 1 g of whey protein per 1 kg of body weight. Whey Protein Side Effects and Interactions Whey protein lowers blood sugar levels and may increase the risk of bleeding, MayoClinic.com notes. Diabetics and those with bleeding disorders should seek medical advice before taking whey protein in order to avoid adverse reactions. Whey protein may increase or decrease the effects of medications and supplements, so talk to your doctor before using whey protein. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store/ http://balancedhealthtoday.com/products.html

Do "High" Protein Diets Cause Cancer ?
More vids, articles, blogs and books: http://www.brinkzone.com/ Cancer and protein, is their a connection? A recent study claims it found a link between "high" protein diets and cancer rates. Is it true? Learn the FACTS in this video! Red Meat and Health -- have we been blaming the wrong thing? Frequent consumption of red and processed meat has been shown in population studies to be positively correlated with cardiovascular disease [1-3], cancer and type 2 diabetes. Recent meta-analyses also indicate that it increases total mortality [4]. Hence, a high meat intake (regardless of its fat quantity and quality) is generally perceived to be unhealthy and something that should be avoided. However, although there are many studies documenting these associations, results are not always consistent and there are several methodological issues which weakens the strength of their findings (more on that in a bit). In the same way as the putative health risks of red meat consumption is investigated, its documented health benefits (which I will cover below) are equally as important and must be given a fair chance in the establishment of public health messages in relation to red meat consumption. In this article I will therefore cover both the risks and benefits associated with red meat consumption, and after having taken all the scientific data into consideration, argue that meat has been unfairly blamed... Mutated Protein Found In Half Of Cancer Patients
One specific protein may be an important link in determining who gets cancer and how to prevent it. P53, a protein that signals to kill cells with DNA damage, has been difficult to see with standard imaging tools. Computational biologist Rommie Amaro developed a program on a supercomputer that photographed the protein for a month. Her findings have led to further research in developing drugs to fix mutated p53 proteins. As it turns out, nearly half of people diagnosed with cancer each year have mutated p53 proteins. These drugs could change the game of cancer prevention. http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/10/protein-mutated-half-all-cancers-new-drugs-aim-fix-it-it-s-too-late http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

8 Foods that Are Actually Damaging Your Kidneys
Have you ever noticed that final powerful spray of water at the carwash before your vehicle gets a rapid blow dry? The water jets pulverize any remaining remnants of dirt. That’s one way to view how our kidneys work. Their job is to flush out toxins from the blood by way of urine. The National Institutes of Health reports that our kidneys filter an excess of 200 quarts of blood daily. That translates into 2 quarts of waste each day. They don’t get holidays or weekends off; they work day and night. Thankfully, our kidneys can wash away impurities while retaining vital nutrients floating around in our blood. Keeping our internal filters healthy and functioning properly is invaluable for nourishment and detoxification of our bodies. So naturally, whatever we eat and drink has a dramatic impact on our kidneys’ health. A steady diet of unhealthy food and drinks can strain their performance, and put us at risk. The good news is, it’s never too late to improve your diet and lifestyle, even if your kidneys are already impaired. In today’s video we will see how our kidneys react to too much consumption of 8 different foods and beverages. 1. Red meat We’ve all heard that protein is good for our health. But too much of anything can be harmful. For example, a diet that is high in red meat, which contains lots of animal protein, can damage our kidneys. The reason? Our kidneys need to metabolism this protein. When there’s a conveyor belt of rich protein headed toward the kidneys for cleansing, they just can’t keep up with the pace. When kidneys can’t eliminate waste products, there will be a build-up of acidic residue in our body. It’s always good to talk to your health care professional about the diet that’s right for you. 2. Alcohol Just like eating too much red meat can strain our kidneys, the same is true with too much alcohol; they will be unable to properly filter our blood. Also, too much alcohol can cause dehydration. This creates a domino effect: if our blood is dehydrated, our cells and organs will not be able to function properly. 3. Table Salt While our bodies require sodium to maintain proper fluid balance – especially in our electrolytes - an excess amount will cause kidneys to retain water. Too much salt can also increase the amount of protein that is eliminated in urine. 4. Caffeine Caffeine is a stimulant which millions of people depend upon every morning to help them become fully awake. But all of that caffeine in coffee, tea and sodas can jolt your kidneys into overdrive. The stimulant accelerates blood flow, which in turn increases blood pressure. Caffeine has another effect – it can lead to dehydration, just as salt can. Too much dehydration can lead to kidney stones. Most health experts recommend you drink no more than 2 cups of coffee or 3 cups of tea daily. Soda and energy drinks are beverages you may want to eliminate completely. Another source of caffeine is cocoa, which should also be consumed moderately. 5. Artificial Sweeteners Refined sugar has had a bad rap lately. That’s why companies began creating artificial sweeteners. It may sound better for our health, but they can still negatively impact kidney function. Try instead to steer away from artificial sweeteners and use stevia or honey to flavor your food and beverages. 6. Dairy Products While dairy products are an excellent source of protein, they should be consumed in moderation, especially for anyone who has kidney disease. The reason? Too many dairy products will increase calcium in urine which can lead to kidney stones. Also, as kidneys are overworked, they won’t be able to regulate protein waste and it will rise to an unhealthy level. 7. Carbonated Beverages Sodas and energy drinks are usually the chief instigator for kidney problems; they are loaded with caffeine, sugar or artificial sweeteners. They may taste better than thirst-quenching water or lemon water but they aren’t providing any health benefits for your kidneys. 8. Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs) In recent years, crops have been the recipient of various forms of herbicides and pesticides. This includes everything from strawberries to rice. These chemical alterations can create even more problems for those who are already suffering from some type of kidney ailment. ----------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The materials and the information contained on Natural Cures channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. Animal Protein and Cancer
This video chapter summarizes the medical literature addressing the links between animal protein consumption and increased cancer risk. The first part of the transcript is included below for reference, and the full transcript (which is too long to have here) is available on our website with sources and credits at this link: http://meatyourfuture.com/2015/03/chapter-2/ [The following transcript is an approximation of the audio in video. To hear the audio and see the accompanying visuals, please play the video.] PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: In the previous chapter of our health section, we discussed the basics of protein and diet. In this chapter, we’ll be discussing the relationship between animal protein and cancer. Dr. T. Colin Campbell, from Cornell University, one of the most prominent figures of nutritional biochemistry, noted that “an elevated intake of protein (particularly animal protein) is a risk factor for certain cancers” and that it “promotes carcinogenesis.” In this particular study, researchers from Berkeley and Cornell, including Dr. Campbell, delivered a liver carcinogen to rats and then fed those rats different amounts of animal protein. One group of the rats was fed a high protein diet containing 22% animal protein. The other group was fed a diet with only 6% protein. Again, all of the rats were first given the same liver carcinogen. It was observed, at 100 weeks, that most of the lower protein fed rats were still alive and “were healthier and thriftier in appearance”, whereas many of the higher protein fed rats were “already dead or were severely burdened with tumors”. The group with the highest animal protein intake — 22% — developed the highest incidents of tumors (90% developed tumors), had the largest overall tumor mass and had three times higher prevalence of tumor metastases as compared to the group fed the lowest animal protein diet. In another experiment, rats were similarly administered a carcinogen and then fed differing levels of animal protein. Specifically, the rats were given a liver carcinogen called aflatoxin, then half were fed a diet containing 20% animal protein. As shown on the upper curve of this graph, that group exhibited the expected increased cancer development corresponding with the higher doses of the carcinogen they received. This is not surprising. The more carcinogen they were given, the more cancer they developed. But, look what happened to the other half of the rats who were instead fed a lower protein diet after being given the carcinogen. Cancer development did not increase for these rats, as would have been expected with the increasing doses of the carcinogen they received. Decreasing the amount of animal protein in their diet almost made the cancer producing substance stop having its cancer producing effect. As the authors of the study put it, “These data rather convincingly show that the growth and development of preneoplastic foci” (…the precursor clusters of cancer cells that grow into tumors…) “primarily occur in response to the level of dietary casein[,]” providing evidence that, “nutrient intake…is more rate limiting towards the development of these preneoplastic lesions than is the carcinogen dose.” In other words, this study indicated that some cancer development may be controlled more by dietary protein levels than by exposure to the underlying carcinogen. These two studies that we just reviewed examined animal protein. But what about plant protein? Would it have the same effect on cancer development that animal protein has? The answer is, “No” it does not. When rats under the same conditions were similarly dosed with the same liver carcinogen (aflatoxin), but then fed diets with plant protein instead of animal protein, they did not exhibit the same increased cancer development — even when they were given diets with high levels of plant protein after being dosed with the carcinogen. The study found that the rats fed a diet of 20% plant protein after being dosed with the carcinogen exhibited far less cancer development than rats fed diets with 20% animal protein. Again, all of the rats were dosed with the same liver carcinogen, but the rats fed a high animal protein diet exhibited the high levels of cancer development, while the rats fed a high plant protein diet did not. The conclusion of this and similar studies is that large amounts of animal protein greatly enhance tumor growth, while large amounts of plant protein do the opposite. Master “Cut-off Switch” for Cancer-Causing HER2 Protein Located.
Herceptin has been touted as a wonder drug for women with HER2-positive breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease that is fueled by excess production of the HER2 protein. However, not all of these patients respond to the drug, and many who do respond eventually acquire resistance. Researchers at Mayo Clinic have found a promising way to circumvent this obstacle. They identified a small site in the HER2 protein that enables it to pair up, forming a molecular switch that sets off a cascade of events that turn normal cells cancerous. The researchers showed that disrupting this site can stem the growth of breast cancer cells, even more effectively than drugs currently used in the clinic. Their study was published April 17, 2015 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Ruth Lupu, the study's senior author comments.

Study reveals how fusion protein triggers cancer
What happens when two proteins join together? In this study, published Jan. 2011 in Science, they become like a power couple, where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The fusion protein API2-MALT1 joins with the enzyme NIK and cuts it in two, making NIK a renegade protein that fuels lymphoma. Study authors Dr. Linda McAllister-Lucas and Dr. Peter Lucas explain.

Stanford Researchers Halt Brain Cancer Growth with Absence of Protein
Researchers at Stanford University report this week that the growth of specific aggressive brain tumors was stopped by cutting off access to a signaling molecule, according to a study. The tumors, called high-grade gliomas, are a group of deadly brain cancers. The study, published Wednesday in Nature, shows that high-grade gliomas stopped growing in mice when a signaling molecule, neurogligin-3, was absent or the molecule's activity was blocked by drugs. "Lack of neuroligin-3 doesn't kill the cancer cells; the cells that are there remain there, but they do not grow,"Dr. Michelle Monje, an assistant professor of neurology, said. https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2017/09/21/Stanford-researchers-halt-brain-cancer-growth-with-absence-of-protein/6751506009272/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
