Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://ThomasDeLauer.com Bulletproof Bone Broth: Quick Recipe for After Fasting - Thomas DeLauer Fasting and ketosis really aren't super, super complicated once you get the hang of it, but one of the questions that comes up a lot is how to break a fast properly and I figure this is a perfect recipe for you to know for when it comes down to breaking your fast while remaining ketogenic. A lot of people like to do ketosis in conjunction with fasting, but I also want you to know that this recipe is really good for anybody. You don't have to be doing ketosis, you don't have to be in a fasting protocol or anything like that, this is just a tremendous way to use bone broth and really make an awesome almost bullet-proof style bone broth latte. So I'm gonna tell you about all the ingredients so you have a solid understanding. If you haven't already, make sure you hit that subscribe button for three to five videos per week and a ton of live coaching broadcasts. Let's start with the star of the show, we've got bone broth. In this case, we have grass-fed beef bone broth. It is very important in this case that you're going with beef instead of the chicken, that's simply because of the higher collagen content. One of the reasons we are using bone broth in the first place is because we want to stimulate more collagen in the body. Collagen is gonna help heal the gut because the gut gets a little bit crinkly and a little bit brittle after you've been fasting for an extended period of time, so adding that collagen in there can really help you out a lot. Plus the glutamine that bone broth contains is really, really good for boosting the immune system especially when you're coming off of a fast. Now as you well know by now if you follow my channel, I am a huge proponent of Kettle & Fire. I partner with them on a lot of videos, so their bone broth is by far the best one that you're gonna find simply because it has apple cider vinegar in it and because it's actually truly made from marrow, not just stock like a lot of bone broth companies say so there's my plug for them, their link is down below so you can get my special discount on it, so beef bone broth, all right. I've warmed it up for about two minutes so that it's hot because we're gonna need it so the coconut oil melts, which leads me to the next ingredient which is one and a half tablespoons of coconut oil in this case. I've already got it premeasured out. Here's the thing. We're not using the coconut oil for the benefit of the MCTs in this case. I mean, those are great, the medium chain triglycerides are awesome, but we do have to know that coconut oil is only about 20% MCT. The other 80% of the coconut oil is a long-chain fatty acid known as monolaurin or lauric acid, it converts to monolaurin within the body. The reason we want this is it staves off gram-negative bacteria within the gut. Remember how I mentioned after fasting your body is very sensitive? Well, your gut is even more sensitive. It's a perfect time to capitalize on good bacteria and it's a perfect time to kill off some of the bad bacteria when the gut is rather fragile. Plus, this coconut oil is what's gonna give it a really full bodied taste, and of course the MCTs don't hurt too. Those help you burn a little bit more fat. Now the interesting stuff. Cream of tartar. Why cream of tartar, and I've got a quarter teaspoon of this by the way. Cream of tarter is exceptionally high in potassium. The reason we want potassium in this case when we are breaking a fast or just in general is because what it's going to do is it helps the insulin process in the pancreas. So basically, it allows the pancreas to become a little bit more sensitive with insulin but also regulates how much insulin is produced by the pancreas. If we don't have enough potassium, we don't have that ion exchange between potassium and sodium, when we break our fast, even with just a couple grams of carbs, our insulin levels can skyrocket through the roof and throw us totally out of whack. High levels of insulin equal more fat gain and less fat loss, so this potassium helps os out. It puts the minerals right back in the body that we need really quick. Then I have a quarter to a half a teaspoon of cayenne. You can go a little bit more if you're feeling good, but this stuff is spicy so it definitely can ruin the drink if you go too much. The reason I'm doing that is simply for a metabolism boost. Studies have shown that there is about a 45 minute period after consuming cayenne that you have a good boost in your metabolism.

It's also a satisfying alternative to dinner when I'm simply not feeling hungry because of a big late lunch, or even as an alternative to drinking another coffee that day. It's pretty magical how it just always seems to make me & my girlfriend feel better after drinking it. I highly recommend you give it a try! What I use: - A slow cooker on 'Low' - 2,2 pounds (1kg) of grass-fed beef bones & pastured chicken bones in a 50:50 ratio for nice flavour & smell (from the chicken) - 3-4 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar - Approx. 2 liters of water Here are the steps I follow: - Roast the bones in the oven for approx. 20 minutes on 350°F (175°C) - Put them in a slow cooker or in a large pot - Add 3-4 Tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar - Cover them well with water (and make sure to check in to add some more water in case some of it evaporates) - I use approx. 1,7-2 liters for 2,2 pounds of bones - Let the broth simmer for 24 hours (slow cooker on 'low' or on a low temperature in a pot) - After 24 hours, remove the bones from the broth, filter the broth (I use my French Press for that!), put the bone broth in some container, cool it off and put it in the fridge. - After it has been in the fridge for a couple of hours it should have a pudding/jelly like consistency (thanks to the gelatin within the bones) and the fat should have solidified on top. You can either leave it in, remove it or use it for cooking. - Consume the broth within 5-6 days or freeze it - I like to drink mine with some chicken bouillon for extra taste (and sodium) and a little bit of turmeric for some additional anti-inflammatory benefits. 3 Reasons to Eat Pho: Vietnamese Superfood- Thomas DeLauer

Pho is one of the healthiest foods that you can eat! Learn more about the healthy restaurant foods at http://www.thomasdelauer.com When most of us think of Asian cuisine, we think high sodium. We think high levels of MSG. We think lots of grease, and lots of foods that we shouldn't eat if we're being health conscious. But honestly, that's not always the case. See I recently discovered the health benefits of Vietnamese pho. Now, I'm going to admit, I was kind of closed minded. I didn't look at Asian foods a lot because I was always trepidatious of the sodium. I was always trepidatious of what other things might be in it. Kind of a lot of mystery ingredients, mystery spices. But when I discovered Vietnamese pho was made with bone broth, it initially piqued my curiosity and I dove in a little bit deeper, so here I am doing a video on the three reasons that everyone should try eating pho at least a couple times per week to try get the most out of their health and get the most out of their workouts. All right: What I want to talk about first is the fact that it's made with bone broth. Okay. I've done videos on bone broth before. Bone broth is not like traditional broth. It's not traditional stock. It's where the bones are actually cooked and you're creating a broth from the bones for a period of 12 to 36 hours depending on the case. Now why is that beneficial? That's beneficial because you get all the benefits of the collagen. You get that collagen out of the bones, and plus you get a high abundance of red blood cells, so you get that good oxygenated material that's coming from the marrow, which offers a very healthy, nutrient-dense form of broth. Vietnamese pho is very unique in the sense that it uses this kind of broth. In fact, that's what it's predicated on. That's what all the hub bub is about. The higher quality the broth, the higher quality the Vietnamese pho will typically be. Now what that collagen does for you is it can help heal a leaky gut. Now that's just one thing that it can do. It can help your skin, it can help your nails, it can help your hair. But when we're talking about inflammation, we're talking about healing the gut, we're talking about absorbing nutrients, well, collagen converts to gelatin within the body. That gelatin heals up some of the gaps that occur within our intestinal tract as a result of inflammation, so a huge, huge bonus there. Then we get into a couple different things. The next one I want to talk about is the fact that if you get it made properly, and you ask for vegetables instead of the rice noodles, you actually get a high abundance of cruciferous vegetables. You get, of course, broccoli, and then you also get something called bok choy. Now bok choy and broccoli are both cruciferous vegetables that are extremely high in something called di indole methane. That di indole methane, also known as DIM is something that is shown to help combat high estrogen levels, so if you're a male and you're trying to keep your estrogen levels a little bit lower, a very, very, very good option for you. If you're a female trying to keep your estrogen levels in check, it's also a very good option for you. Also, super high in something called indole three carbinole which what it does is it actually raises estrogen in the body, but it raises estrogen in the body temporarily, creating a negative feedback loop so the body slows down the overall production of estrogen in the long run. These are things that can help you reduce water. They can actually drop that water retention and help you reduce inflammation and potentially even moodiness. Now the next reason that Vietnamese pho is a super food, is simply because of the onions. Simple onions, and the way that the onions are cooked within the broth makes them extremely fermented. It makes them extremely good at generating good, healthy bacteria within your gut. Now fair warning, if you're someone that has SIBO, a small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, you usually want to avoid the higher FODMAP foods like onion. You can always ask for it without onion. There you have it. The three simple reasons that Vietnamese pho is one of the best super foods that you can possibly eat. This has now been indoctrinated into my diet one, sometimes two times per week. As long as you can get past a little bit higher level of sodium now and then, just make sure you hit that sauna the next day and sweat it on out. The problem is, most of that advice is terrible and will not help you to get to your goal any faster. As a matter of fact, many popular diet tips will do exactly the opposite of what they are supposed to be helping you to do. In this video, I cover four of the most popular diet and meal plan tips that need to be buried right here and now. Right off the bat, some will have you believe that eating fat makes you fat. That can’t be further from the truth. Eating fat, COULD make you fat if you eat in excess of your daily caloric maintenance levels just as eating too many carbs and protein can as well. The simple act of eating a fat molecule will not cause it to be stored as body fat in your body. In fact, nutritional fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet plan, with fat making up a portion of the surrounding layer of nearly every cell in your body. Next diet myth that needs to die is the concept that eating after 6PM at night is somehow going to make you fat. Again, it comes down to where you are at in your daily caloric intake in relation to your maintenance levels. If you are 800 calories below your daily caloric maintenance intake, eating these calories at 7 or 8 or even 10PM is not going to adversely affect you in your pursuit of getting a ripped six pack. The fact of the matter is, you are still at or below your level to maintain your current level of body fat and simply shifting the time at which you consume these calories does not change their thermal effect. That said, eating your meals too infrequently throughout the day can wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels. Having wildly unstable levels of blood sugar can lead to severe alterations in mood, focus and most importantly cravings. When you allow your cravings to build too significantly, you often find yourself in a position where you will grab foods that don’t align themselves with your healthy eating approach needed to get ripped and stay ripped as you build muscle. The next popular eating and diet tip that is dispensed all too often these days is the concept that you cannot build muscle if you are following a vegan or vegetarian meal plan. Why? There are plenty of protein options available to those following a meat and dairy free meal plan including quinoa, chick peas, and even pea protein powders that enable vegans to get adequate protein without having to follow a meat based eating plan. The total amount of protein needed to build new muscle is still a hotly debated topic however it has been shown to vary from individual to individual and could be far less than what you may have been told previously. Finally, there is a mistaken belief by some that taking supplements and fat burners will get you ripped. That is simply not the case if you refuse to also take your daily diet plan seriously. If you think that you can eat like garbage the whole day and simply pop a supplement and get lean, ripped abs you are wrong. That said, someone that is committed to eating healthy and then supplements their diet plan with workout and nutrition supplements is often able to get much faster results than those that don’t. A lot of the success of workout supplements has to do with their ability to help you remain consistent with your nutrition plan and stay accountable to it. Starting your day with a supplement that you are financially invested in will help you to be emotionally invested in the goals you set forth for getting ripped and muscular that you set when you initially purchased the supplement. You should break your fast with high GI carbs but avoid combining these with fatty foods - fat slows down transit through the stomach, so eating fat post fast may slow the digestion and absorption of carbs.
