A lot of people like to do ketosis in conjunction with fasting, but I also want you to know that this recipe is really good for anybody. You don't have to be doing ketosis, you don't have to be in a fasting protocol or anything like that, this is just a tremendous way to use bone broth and really make an awesome almost bullet-proof style bone broth latte. So I'm gonna tell you about all the ingredients so you have a solid understanding. If you haven't already, make sure you hit that subscribe button for three to five videos per week and a ton of live coaching broadcasts. Let's start with the star of the show, we've got bone broth. In this case, we have grass-fed beef bone broth. It is very important in this case that you're going with beef instead of the chicken, that's simply because of the higher collagen content. One of the reasons we are using bone broth in the first place is because we want to stimulate more collagen in the body. Collagen is gonna help heal the gut because the gut gets a little bit crinkly and a little bit brittle after you've been fasting for an extended period of time, so adding that collagen in there can really help you out a lot. Plus the glutamine that bone broth contains is really, really good for boosting the immune system especially when you're coming off of a fast. Now as you well know by now if you follow my channel, I am a huge proponent of Kettle & Fire. I partner with them on a lot of videos, so their bone broth is by far the best one that you're gonna find simply because it has apple cider vinegar in it and because it's actually truly made from marrow, not just stock like a lot of bone broth companies say so there's my plug for them, their link is down below so you can get my special discount on it, so beef bone broth, all right. I've warmed it up for about two minutes so that it's hot because we're gonna need it so the coconut oil melts, which leads me to the next ingredient which is one and a half tablespoons of coconut oil in this case. I've already got it premeasured out. Here's the thing. We're not using the coconut oil for the benefit of the MCTs in this case. I mean, those are great, the medium chain triglycerides are awesome, but we do have to know that coconut oil is only about 20% MCT. The other 80% of the coconut oil is a long-chain fatty acid known as monolaurin or lauric acid, it converts to monolaurin within the body. The reason we want this is it staves off gram-negative bacteria within the gut. Remember how I mentioned after fasting your body is very sensitive? Well, your gut is even more sensitive. It's a perfect time to capitalize on good bacteria and it's a perfect time to kill off some of the bad bacteria when the gut is rather fragile. Plus, this coconut oil is what's gonna give it a really full bodied taste, and of course the MCTs don't hurt too. Those help you burn a little bit more fat. Now the interesting stuff. Cream of tartar. Why cream of tartar, and I've got a quarter teaspoon of this by the way. Cream of tarter is exceptionally high in potassium. The reason we want potassium in this case when we are breaking a fast or just in general is because what it's going to do is it helps the insulin process in the pancreas. So basically, it allows the pancreas to become a little bit more sensitive with insulin but also regulates how much insulin is produced by the pancreas. If we don't have enough potassium, we don't have that ion exchange between potassium and sodium, when we break our fast, even with just a couple grams of carbs, our insulin levels can skyrocket through the roof and throw us totally out of whack. High levels of insulin equal more fat gain and less fat loss, so this potassium helps os out. It puts the minerals right back in the body that we need really quick. Then I have a quarter to a half a teaspoon of cayenne. You can go a little bit more if you're feeling good, but this stuff is spicy so it definitely can ruin the drink if you go too much. The reason I'm doing that is simply for a metabolism boost. Studies have shown that there is about a 45 minute period after consuming cayenne that you have a good boost in your metabolism.

A lot of times, people don't have the bile salts built up to truly break down the fats that you're consuming. See, the true ketogenic diet you should be consuming three to one or four to one fats to protein. That's a lot of fat, and if you're not accustomed to that, it can be a little bit difficult on your body. You might find yourself getting a little bit bloated. You might even find yourself constipated or sometimes the opposite. It's usually an indicator that your body's not producing enough in the way of bile just yet, but give it time, it gets there. What I've done is, I've come up with a recipe that utilizes a lot of different ingredients that helps this whole process out. If you're new to the ketogenic diet, it's going to help you get into ketosis a little bit faster, simply because it's going to give you the necessary components that you need to start breaking down those fats so your liver can turn them into ketones. Then, if you're already in ketosis, you can utilize this to get a little boost out of your digestion and ultimately use more of those fats so you get more ketones. It's good for beginners and for intermediate and advanced. Now, if you haven't already, I want to make sure you subscribe to my channel. First thing we're going to do is we are going to go ahead and we're going to heat up some bone broth. Those of you that follow my channel know that I am a huge, huge fan of Kettle and Fire. I know Justin over there personally, good friend of mine, so I always offer my subscribers a discount. I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to add a whole carton of Kettle and Fire beef bone broth. Here's the thing. I'm using the beef one because it's higher in collagen. Collagen is not just about the joint health, it's not just about the mucosal layer of the gut. I talk about that a lot, but there's an entirely different aspect that isn't talked about a lot. That's the fact that glycine, which is the predominant amino acid that is in collagen, makes up over a third of collagen, is huge, in fact it's critical to the production of bile salts. Bile salts are secreted by the liver and the gallbladder to ultimately break down the fats. The bile salts literally emulsify fat. Fat doesn't just absorb into the system, it has to be emulsified. Just like when you oil in water, it doesn't mix. The bile salts give it something to actually react to, so we can absorb the fats. A lot of times, we don't have enough bile built up when we first start a ketogenic diet, so this collagen is critical to the bile production, thereby critical to the fat metabolism. All I'm doing is I'm heating that up, nothing fancy. Then what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to take some raw ginger, and I'm just going to take a couple little shavings of this. I don't care if it's got the peel or anything, I just want to get probably about a tablespoon of raw ginger by the time it's all said and done. Don't worry if you get big chunks in there because you're going to end up simmering it and you're going to filter it out ultimately. There's a big reason that I'm putting ginger in here, and it's not just because it tastes good. The whole idea behind ginger is it contains something known as gingerols, which I've talked about in videos a lot. Gingerols do something interesting. They reduce nuclear factor kappa B, which is sort of the master inflammatory hormone. Basically, what it's doing is by reducing nuclear factor kappa B, we're reducing a lot of the other inflammatory signals in the body. Over 400 different inflammatory responses respond through nuclear factor kappa B. If we reduce nuclear factor kappa B, we're basically turning off the master switch for inflammation, so it's very, very important. Also, gingerol is a natural appetite suppressant, so very, very powerful there. Overall, this is just very easy on the gut, reducing the inflammation in the gut.

It's also a satisfying alternative to dinner when I'm simply not feeling hungry because of a big late lunch, or even as an alternative to drinking another coffee that day. It's pretty magical how it just always seems to make me & my girlfriend feel better after drinking it. I highly recommend you give it a try! What I use: - A slow cooker on 'Low' - 2,2 pounds (1kg) of grass-fed beef bones & pastured chicken bones in a 50:50 ratio for nice flavour & smell (from the chicken) - 3-4 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar - Approx. 2 liters of water Here are the steps I follow: - Roast the bones in the oven for approx. 20 minutes on 350°F (175°C) - Put them in a slow cooker or in a large pot - Add 3-4 Tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar - Cover them well with water (and make sure to check in to add some more water in case some of it evaporates) - I use approx. 1,7-2 liters for 2,2 pounds of bones - Let the broth simmer for 24 hours (slow cooker on 'low' or on a low temperature in a pot) - After 24 hours, remove the bones from the broth, filter the broth (I use my French Press for that!), put the bone broth in some container, cool it off and put it in the fridge. - After it has been in the fridge for a couple of hours it should have a pudding/jelly like consistency (thanks to the gelatin within the bones) and the fat should have solidified on top. You can either leave it in, remove it or use it for cooking. - Consume the broth within 5-6 days or freeze it - I like to drink mine with some chicken bouillon for extra taste (and sodium) and a little bit of turmeric for some additional anti-inflammatory benefits. In this video, I cover four of the most popular diet and meal plan tips that need to be buried right here and now. Right off the bat, some will have you believe that eating fat makes you fat. That can’t be further from the truth. Eating fat, COULD make you fat if you eat in excess of your daily caloric maintenance levels just as eating too many carbs and protein can as well. The simple act of eating a fat molecule will not cause it to be stored as body fat in your body. In fact, nutritional fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet plan, with fat making up a portion of the surrounding layer of nearly every cell in your body. Next diet myth that needs to die is the concept that eating after 6PM at night is somehow going to make you fat. Again, it comes down to where you are at in your daily caloric intake in relation to your maintenance levels. If you are 800 calories below your daily caloric maintenance intake, eating these calories at 7 or 8 or even 10PM is not going to adversely affect you in your pursuit of getting a ripped six pack. The fact of the matter is, you are still at or below your level to maintain your current level of body fat and simply shifting the time at which you consume these calories does not change their thermal effect. That said, eating your meals too infrequently throughout the day can wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels. Having wildly unstable levels of blood sugar can lead to severe alterations in mood, focus and most importantly cravings. When you allow your cravings to build too significantly, you often find yourself in a position where you will grab foods that don’t align themselves with your healthy eating approach needed to get ripped and stay ripped as you build muscle. The next popular eating and diet tip that is dispensed all too often these days is the concept that you cannot build muscle if you are following a vegan or vegetarian meal plan. Why? There are plenty of protein options available to those following a meat and dairy free meal plan including quinoa, chick peas, and even pea protein powders that enable vegans to get adequate protein without having to follow a meat based eating plan. The total amount of protein needed to build new muscle is still a hotly debated topic however it has been shown to vary from individual to individual and could be far less than what you may have been told previously.
