Homemade Fungicide Spray ~ Noreen's Garden

06:43
This video is migrated from the Noreen's Garden channel, if you have already watched this video, please feel free to enjoy it once again and if you are new here, please come back and enjoy regular gardening videos on our channel every Tuesday! This time of year when the rains come and it may get more humid in your area, the powdery mildew will set in on cucumbers, squash, pumpkins and anything with a broad and kind of hairy leaf. This spray won't repair damage that has already been done, but it will stop the mildew in it's tracks and stop continued damage to other, newer parts of the plant. The recipe is simple: 1 quart of water 1 1/2 tablespoons baking soda 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons liquid dish soap. Mix it all up in a big jar and pour into a spray bottle. This should be sprayed during a time of the day that is not to hot and not ever in the direct sunlight of mid day. If you are able to, spray this on a slightly overcast day so you will avoid any burning to your plants. Spray once a week to avoid another set in of the powdery mildew. This is a great way to deal with a garden problem in a simple and organic way instead of resorting to harsh chemical sprays that can be expensive and in the end even more damaging to the soil and ground water in the end. I hope that this is helpful for you and I hope you learned something! I hope you give this homemade fungicide spray a try and I hope you love it! Happy Planting! Both the seeds and fruits of the neem plant are pressed to get the vegetable oil we call neem oil. Firstly we shall start with the benefits of Neem oil in Gardening. Its primary use in garden is due to its insecticide or pesticide action due to the compound Azadirachtin in neem oil which kills pests in all their lifecyles like the adult or the larva stage. It also believed to have antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal action. Neem leaf paste was traditionally used for wound dressing in people and animals. It has few effects when concentrated form is ingested like stomach irritation and eye irritation and contact dermatitis especially in children. Otherwise it has an excellent safety profile and its completely biodegradable. Now the Various Formulation of Neem Oil you can make at Home. Before this, one concept you must remember before making formulations is : Because it’s an oil, it doesn’t mix well with water and must be mixed with some kind of surfactant to make it suitable for application in your garden. Also make sure you do not spray neem oil during the sunlight – best to spray in evening when the sun fades. To start, all you need is the neem oil concentrate, which you can get from your local garden store or even order online like the one am using here. You can find the link to this in the video description. 1. Make your FOLIAR SPRAY FORMULATION of insecticidal soap recipe: 1 litre Warm Water + 10 drops of liquid soap like your handwash + 5 ml of Neem oil - to be mixed thoroughly before use and also perform a PATCH TEST on your plant or leaf to see whether its burning the leaf after 24 hours. This means you need to dilute it more. Also make sure you spray the bottom of the leaves as well. 2. You can also spray it on your soil to prevent harmful nematodes like root-knotter worms. 3. Depending on the severity of pests, use it once a week or once every 15 days. So, there we have it folks. That was our episode on Neem oil and its benefits in garden. ASPIRIN IN GARDENING: Top 6 Benefits of Aspirin as Rooting Hormone + Others - Garden Tips English

04:48
The Benefits of ASpirin in Garden and Top 6 proven uses of aspirin in gardening for plants. The Medicine Aspirin, once used to be the most commonly used Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory and Analgesic – now surprisingly has found to benefit your garden. The Top 5 useful effects of Aspirin in gardening. Aspirin is chemically Acetyl Salicylic Acids and salicylic acid is naturally found in willow bark and many other trees. So, what is the actual concept behind using Aspirin in gardening or farming. Studies have found that the plant hormone salicylic acid is released in tiny amounts when plants are in stress. So this concept has been utilized and many benefits of Aspirin have been proven, which am gonna listout one by one. 1. Aspirin as a Rooting Chemical: Rooting hormones like indole acetic and butyric acid are already discussed in my video on What are rooting hormones – you can checkout that video. Well to improve the success rate of rooting while propagating from cuttings, Simply take a teaspoon of cinnamon powder from your kitchen and add it to 1 litre of lukewarm water and then drop in half a 350mg dispersible aspirin tablet and stir it well. Then dip the cuttings into this solutions for about 30 to 60 minutes and then plant those cuttings. 2. Aspiring Improves Seed Germination: A low dose of aspirin water significantly improves seed germination and in one study the plants treated with the aspirin water had a 100 percent germination rate, while the plants that weren't treated had more inconsistent results. For this drop half a tablet of a 350 mg Aspirin into 1 liter of water and stir well and spray on the sown seeds or soak the seeds in it for few hours before planting them. 3. Aspirin for Plant growth: The University of Rhode Island sprayed plants with an aspirin water solution once every three weeks for the course of an entire growing season. At the end, the plants sprayed with the aspirin solution were found much bigger and had more fruit or flowers than their counterparts. 4. To keep Cut flowers stay fresh: Put a half a tablet of aspirin in a vase with fresh cut flowers from your garden to help them stay fresh longer. 5. Aspiring for Healthy Tomatoes: Spray your tomato saplings or even soak the tomato seeds with the same mixture of water and aspirin, before planting them in the ground for healthier, more disease resistant plants. 6. Aspirin spray also an anti fungal and treats Blight in plants: Blight refers to a specific symptom affecting some plants like tomatoes due to infections by pathogenic microrganisms, leading to rapid and complete chlorosis, browning, then death of plant tissues such as leaves, branches, flowers and fruits. Now Coming to some Possible Side Effects of Using Aspiring in Garden if used improperly: - Plants may develop brown spots and appear to have burnt foliage. The best way to protect against this is to spray early in the morning just before sunrise and not under direct hot sun. - Also keep Watching plants for their response to the treatment. Not all plants may be suitable for the aspirin regimen, but it has been shown that eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes benefit the most.. Technically, Using aspirin is not an organic solution, however, it is a safe and very inexpensive option that contains far fewer chemicals than the store-bought chemical products. Please try this in your garden and provide your feedback in the comments section below. Baking Soda is 100 percent sodium bicarbonate used mainly for cooking purpose. Today I am gonna list out the top 10 benefits of baking soda on plants and baking soda in garden soil. It is 100 % biodegradable, non-toxic, inexpensive organic solution in gardening. 1. As a Pesticide & Fungicide: You can make a very effective organic pesticide spray with baking soda to kill harmful pests and insects in garden like the Powdery Mildew, Aphids, Spider mites, Slugs and Snails and also fungus attacks. The Formula to make a spray is: 1 litre of water + 1 tsp baking soda + 1 tsp vegetable oil or olive oil + 1 tsp of liquid soap or detergent. Mix well to make spray and apply on plants weekly once. For slugs and snail – directly sprinkle on them. 2. Killing Cabbage Worms – Mix 50% baking soda + 50 % flour like wheat flour and sprinkle on the cabbage or broccoli leaves. The worms munch on this and die within 1 or 2 days. 3. Cleaning Plant Foliage to remove dust and dirt which encourages better photosynthesis and better health of your plants. Use half a teaspoon of baking soda in 1 liter of water and use a soft cloth to mop the leaves. 4. You can get Sweeter Tomatoes if you sprinkle the powder around the tomato plants. 8. Weed Killer: sprinkle it on the tufts of weeds. It will burn the foliage and weeds will fade and disappear in a few days. 9. To Keep Cut Flowers Fresh: Just add 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the vase water. 10. What Are The Best Antifungal Foods to Eat?

05:35
Here is a brief description of some of the best anti-fungal foods you can eat. Please be sure to check out the many videos on this channel relating to foods and Candida. I'm just looking at my computer here at a website I've been looking at. I typed in “best antifungal foods” and I found a website and it said here that fresh dates are good as antifungal. Think about that for a minute. Fresh dates. You may as well have a can of beer. Why would you want to have fresh dates for if you've got a yeast problem, if you've got bacteria or Candida in your gut, particularly. Why would you want to put a load of sugar into your tummy? Dates are full of sugar. Best antifungal foods that haven't got high sugar content. You're going to see a lot of websites that say sugar is bad for Candida and you're going to see a lot of other websites that say natural sugar is fine for Candida. I keep trying to get the message time and again in my video that there's basic common sense when it comes to an anti-Candida approach. The best antifungal foods are the ones that aren't going to make you feel sick. They're going to inhibit Candida. Maybe not necessarily kill Candida on contact, but have a strong inhibition or power about them. Dates obviously don't make sense to me. The most powerful antifungal foods can vary slightly from person to person. One food for Mrs. Jones over here may be totally terrible for Mrs. Smith. For example, a long time ago, I used to tell everybody to eat lots of garlic, but I've found there are many people who can't tolerate garlic and it makes them feel sick. They have one small clove, they vomit. Other people can eat 10 cloves. One woman's meat is another woman's poison basically. But the common thread generally that runs through a lot of this is there are foods that a wide range of people can tolerate that are antifungal. Coconut, for example, is one. Most people can tolerate coconut. Coconut oil is supremely antifungal and has very high levels of lauric acid, caprylic acid. It's an excellent adjunct in a Candida diet. I recommend you cook with this oil and you can also add a little bit into salads or on top of vegetables. It works quite well. Curries can be made from coconut crème or coconut milk. Coconut oil can be used in cooking. That's a good start for you. If you can't tolerate raw garlic, try and steam the garlic or add it to food. Adding garlic to food after it's been cooked is better than adding it at the beginning because you're going to lose more of the properties. Fresh ginger is a very good antifungal and it can be successfully used with garlic. One clove of garlic, a small piece of fresh ginger, mince them together and use that on food or cook it, you know, enjoying your food. The woody spices. We've spoken about this in other videos. Many types of woody spices you can have. I'm sure that cardamom seed pods will be antifungal. You've got green cardamom and brown cardamom. They belong to the ginger family. I'm pretty they will have antifungal properties about them. Cinnamon also is an antifungal. Clove, a spice called clove. And there are many other woody spices than can be incorporated into your diet. The fresh herbs. Another excellent adjunct as an antifungal into your diet. There are many of them. I speak about these quite often. Basil, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, oregano. Those five are very, very good to add. I grow all of them and I recommend that you grow them all in your garden or just buy them fresh at your green grocer store. I'm sure you can buy them there and then again incorporate those into your food. Antifungal foods don't necessarily have to be foods that are going to kill Candida. They can also be foods that inhibit Candida. Yogurt is quite a good antifungal food for that reason. Many people can tolerate yogurt perfectly fine. If you can't tolerate the cow or the dairy yogurt, try the coconut yogurt. I tried that one about a week ago and I found it to be fantastic in flavor. It's quite nice. It's coconut yogurt. You can make it yourself. Go on line and find some recipes or you can probably by that one already these days in the shelves. Common sense, people. Common sense prevails when it comes to antifungal. You avoid foods that are pro-fungal and you look at foods that are antifungal. Foods we just mentioned. The brassica class of vegetables are also antifungal to a degree. Broccoli, cauliflower, Chinese vegetables, all of these kinds of foods, brussel sprouts. You can grow them like me or you can purchase them yourself. Again, hopefully, from an organic shop. Check out some of my other videos where I go a little bit more in-depth on some of the antifungal foods to a higher degree. Some videos are specifically tailored, for example, just for one vegetable or one spice. You can get a lot more information out of that.

BORAX in Gardening: As a Fertilizer and Ant Control - Borax Ant Bait Recipe

05:26
Today we will look into Borax powder and its uses in gardening. Also will discuss on Boric Acid powder or Boric powder we use for playing carrom board game and also as wound antiseptic and how is it different from borax. Also at the end will show you how to make an Ant Trap and get rid of ants using borax. That’s coming up.. Welcome back! If you are a hobby gardener or interested in growing plants, Consider subscribing to this channel. Also TURN ON the notification bell icon so that you won’t miss anything. Borax is a white powder made up of the element BORON, a naturally occurring mineral salt with acidic properties. It has been used for many years as a natural cleaner, laundry booster and disinfectant which you can buy easily from any grocery store. Borax is the common name for the chemical compound sodium tetraborate decahydrate, which contains sodium, boron, water and oxygen. Because this compound is produced as a natural residue from the repeated evaporation of seasonal lakes, it is suitable for the organic garden but with utmost care and precautions because its misuse can harm your plants. First, let’s talk about the difference between borax and boric acid or boric powder we use as carom board powder. In the most basic terms, borax is a mineral that is mined from the ground, and it turns into boric acid with further processing (usually exposure to an acid such as hydrochloric or sulfuric acid). And infact both have the same value in gardening. Well, Now lets look into the best uses of Borax powder in gardening. 1. To Kill Weeds Add 1 tablespoon of borax powder to 1 liter of water and mix thoroughly and use a sprayer to coat the the unwanted weeds in your garden. Take precaution not to spray on any of your favourite plant. 2. As a Fertilizer The element Boron is the second most widespread micronutrient deficiency problem worldwide after zinc. It improves plant’s health and growth. Its deficiency commonly results in empty pollen grains, poor pollen vitality and a reduced number of flowers per plant. The lack of boron also causes stunted root growth. This is similar to zinc deficiency and also in humans the zinc deficiency is related to infertility issues like low sperm count and motility. The common symptoms to diagnose this problem of boron deficiency are dying growing tips, stunted growth, low productivity but these symptoms are very common. So the way to determine Boron deficiency is to get your soil tested. Soil that is acidic, sandy and low in organic matter often has a deficiency of Boron. You can Dissolve at the rate of 1 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water and apply the solution evenly with a water sprinkling can. 3. Remove Rust from Tools Mix borax and lemon juice together to make a paste. Apply this paste to your rusty tools and allow it to set for at least 30 minutes, and then scrub off. Repeat again if necessary, and always rinse clean with water when finished. Another hack here is after use, always insert your garden tools into a pail of sand to prevent rusting. 4. Disinfect and Clean your Garden Tools and Surface Mix a tablespoon of borax in a liter of warm water. Make use of this solution to soak and scrub pots and tools. 5. Ant Killer If you want to get rid of ants in your garden, try this borax bait hack or borax ant bait recipe. For this, you’ll need of course borax powder, honey or sugar syrup. For a small colony of ants, Take half teaspoon of Borax and mix well in sugar syrup. You can use 1 or 2 teaspoon of sugar and dissolve in 1 teaspoon of water to make sugar syrup. Mix everything well and place this in a bottle with holes in the lid or any container or cup like this with some small holes for the ants to enter into the trap, but not larger enough for honey bees to enter inside or you can also pour directly on the the affected spot. But I have no luck yet. Let s wait for few more days and will update you if ants trapped with a video at my Instagram page. That was our episode on something new in gardening – that’s benefits of borax in garden. If you like the video, please like, share and comment on the video. 04:27
http://www.growyourheirlooms.com/ I am testing the three most popular all natural weed killers from the internet. Many people swear by these. I will say that the methods did kill the grass to a certain extent. Although it's a good thing to want to use natural methods to kill weeds, we have to remember that if we kill weeds, we are also killing natural microbes and fungi in the soil and that will inhibit growth of vegetables and flowers. Now if you're doing this on a sidealk or somewhere you never plan on growing anything then this could work. But my suggestion is to use cardboard. It will not only smother the weeds, but as it breaks down, it will add nutrients to the soil. Please Share & Subscribe http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=growyourheirlooms

If You See This Weed Growing In Your Yard Don't Pick It Here's Why

04:49
If You See This Weed Growing In Your Yard Don't Pick It Here's Why If you take a step outside your front door, how many plants in your garden are you be able to name? Although your grandparents or even great-grandparents could probably name almost every inch of their land, this skill has been lost for new generations. Along with this comes the loss of medicinal plant knowledge. It’s really quite a shame: no matter where you live in the world, you’ll always be surrounded by medicinal plants, even in the concrete jungle. One of these “lost plants” is purslane, a nutritious plant that’s now considered as a useless weed. Purslane can do a lot of good for a wide variety of patients. In traditional medicine, the herb is well appreciated by new mothers for its ability to treat mastitis, lack of milk flow, and postpartum bleeding. It also relaxes skeletal muscles and acts as a diuretic. Still, nursing mothers should consult a naturopath before taking purslane. Purslane also has the ability to cure:  Headache  Stomachache  Painful urination  Dysentery  Enteritis  Burns  Earache  Insect stings  Skin sores  Ulcers  Pruritus  Eczema  Abscesses treat  Colitis  Acute appendicitis  Dermatitis  Shingles  Arthritis  Fever  Diabetes Purslane contains a neurohormone called l-norepinephrine that acts as a vasopressor and antihypotensive agent to quickly treats hemorrhages. The herb even has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal properties. In terms of nutritional value, the herb contains more beta-carotene than spinach and carrots, as well as high levels of vitamins B, C, and E, magnesium, calcium, potassium, folate, lithium, and protein. More interestingly, the herb contains omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid. It’s also said to be the best plant source of the nutrient, containing 8.5 mg of omega 3 for every gram of weight. This fatty acid, as well as others found in the plant, keeps blood pressure and cholesterol in check and prevents blood clots. Another interesting substance of the plant is melatonin, an antioxidant that acts as a hormone and is also produced by the pineal gland. Melatonin regulates your body’s natural sleep and wake cycles to help you get a good night’s sleep. A study performed by the University of Texas at San Antonio discovered that purslane contained 10 to 1000 times more melatonin than other edible plants tested. Also, the plant currently being examined for its ability to combat tumors. How to harvest Purslane? Purslane is best harvested is late summer and early autumn when its leaves are full and juicy. However, it can be harvested year-round in warmer regions. You can plant purslane in your garden, but it can quickly become invasive. How to use Purslane? One of the biggest advantages of eating purslane is that it’s non-GMO since it’s not widely regarded as a food and isn’t widely cultivated. However, because it’s a weed, it’s essential to fully wash it before eating, since it’s most likely come into contact with pesticides. The leaves and stems can be eaten raw, dried, steamed, stir-fried, or even pureed, but beware, the herb gets a little slimy when overcooked. Think of the herb as an alternative to spinach or watercress. We give you 12 ways to use vinegar in your garden: 1. Add 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 4 liters of water, and spray your roses. 4. Keep pests and pets away Pets, moles, and rodents hate vinegar. Spray your garden with white vinegar, and you will never ever see a cat wandering around your garden. Soak old clothes and hang it in your garden. This is another handy trick. 5.
