Homemade Fungicide Spray ~ Noreen's Garden

06:43
This video is migrated from the Noreen's Garden channel, if you have already watched this video, please feel free to enjoy it once again and if you are new here, please come back and enjoy regular gardening videos on our channel every Tuesday! This time of year when the rains come and it may get more humid in your area, the powdery mildew will set in on cucumbers, squash, pumpkins and anything with a broad and kind of hairy leaf. This spray won't repair damage that has already been done, but it will stop the mildew in it's tracks and stop continued damage to other, newer parts of the plant. The recipe is simple: 1 quart of water 1 1/2 tablespoons baking soda 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons liquid dish soap. Mix it all up in a big jar and pour into a spray bottle. This should be sprayed during a time of the day that is not to hot and not ever in the direct sunlight of mid day. If you are able to, spray this on a slightly overcast day so you will avoid any burning to your plants. Spray once a week to avoid another set in of the powdery mildew. This is a great way to deal with a garden problem in a simple and organic way instead of resorting to harsh chemical sprays that can be expensive and in the end even more damaging to the soil and ground water in the end. I hope that this is helpful for you and I hope you learned something! I hope you give this homemade fungicide spray a try and I hope you love it! Happy Planting! 4 Homemade Organic Pesticide Every Gardener Must Know

03:46
Homemade Organic Pesticide: Aphids, spider mites, and other pests can cause serious damage to flowers, fruits, and vegetables. These creatures attack your garden in swarms, literally draining the life from your crops and often inviting disease in the process. Many chemical pesticides can prove unsafe for the environment or may make fruits and vegetables unsafe for consumption, however. Thankfully, there are many homemade, organic options for you to turn to in your war against pests. Remedy 1 using chilies & Garlic • Combine 1/2 cup (113 grams) of hot peppers with 1/2 cup (113 grams) of garlic cloves or onions. You may also use both onions and garlic. All the vegetables should be chopped prior to use • Blend the vegetables together in a blender to form a thick, chunky paste. • Add the vegetable paste to half a liter of warm water mixing the ingredients together Thoroughly. • Pour the solution into a plastic or glass container and allow it to sit for 24 hours. If possible, keep it in a sunny location. If not, at least keep the mixture in a warm spot. • Next, Pour the solution through a strainer, removing the vegetables and collecting the vegetable-infused water into another container. This water is your pesticide. • Pour your pesticide into a squirt bottle and spray on the affected plants Remedy 2 using orange peels • Peel an orange and Place the peels into a glass container and pour 2 cups (500 milliliters) of boiling water over the peels, Allowing the solution to sit in a warm spot for 24 hours. • Next, Pour the solution into a strainer, removing the peels and saving the citrus-infused water • Add a few drops of castile soap. Peppermint-scented castile soap may prove especially effective. Mix the solution thoroughly to combine • Pour the pesticide into a large squirt bottle and Spray the entire plant to ward off most soft-bodied pests Remedy 3 Using neem • Combine 15 milliliters of neem oil with 1/2 teaspoon mild soap. Many believe neem oil, which comes from a bitter tree leaf, to be one of the most effective natural pesticides in existence • Mix the neem and soap into 2 liters of warm water Stirring slowly but thoroughly. • Pour the pesticide into a spray bottle and spray on spots where you can clearly see pests or signs of pests. Remedy 4 using tobacco • Mix 1 cup of tobacco into 2 liters of water.  • Sit the mixture out in the sun or in warm location, allowing it to rest for 24 hours. • Check the color of the mixture. Ideally, the pesticide will look similar to the hue of a light tea. If it is too dark, dilute it with water. If it is too light to see, allow it to sit an additional few hours • Add 3 tablespoons of mild liquid dish soap to the solution and Mix thoroughly. • Pour the mixture into a large squirt bottle. Shake the solution inside the bottle once more to combine it further and spray on affected plants. BORAX in Gardening: As a Fertilizer and Ant Control - Borax Ant Bait Recipe

05:26
Today we will look into Borax powder and its uses in gardening. Also will discuss on Boric Acid powder or Boric powder we use for playing carrom board game and also as wound antiseptic and how is it different from borax. Also at the end will show you how to make an Ant Trap and get rid of ants using borax. That’s coming up.. Welcome back! If you are a hobby gardener or interested in growing plants, Consider subscribing to this channel. Also TURN ON the notification bell icon so that you won’t miss anything. Borax is a white powder made up of the element BORON, a naturally occurring mineral salt with acidic properties. It has been used for many years as a natural cleaner, laundry booster and disinfectant which you can buy easily from any grocery store. Borax is the common name for the chemical compound sodium tetraborate decahydrate, which contains sodium, boron, water and oxygen. Because this compound is produced as a natural residue from the repeated evaporation of seasonal lakes, it is suitable for the organic garden but with utmost care and precautions because its misuse can harm your plants. First, let’s talk about the difference between borax and boric acid or boric powder we use as carom board powder. In the most basic terms, borax is a mineral that is mined from the ground, and it turns into boric acid with further processing (usually exposure to an acid such as hydrochloric or sulfuric acid). And infact both have the same value in gardening. Well, Now lets look into the best uses of Borax powder in gardening. 1. To Kill Weeds Add 1 tablespoon of borax powder to 1 liter of water and mix thoroughly and use a sprayer to coat the the unwanted weeds in your garden. Take precaution not to spray on any of your favourite plant. 2. As a Fertilizer The element Boron is the second most widespread micronutrient deficiency problem worldwide after zinc. It improves plant’s health and growth. Its deficiency commonly results in empty pollen grains, poor pollen vitality and a reduced number of flowers per plant. The lack of boron also causes stunted root growth. This is similar to zinc deficiency and also in humans the zinc deficiency is related to infertility issues like low sperm count and motility. The common symptoms to diagnose this problem of boron deficiency are dying growing tips, stunted growth, low productivity but these symptoms are very common. So the way to determine Boron deficiency is to get your soil tested. Soil that is acidic, sandy and low in organic matter often has a deficiency of Boron. You can Dissolve at the rate of 1 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water and apply the solution evenly with a water sprinkling can. 3. Remove Rust from Tools Mix borax and lemon juice together to make a paste. Apply this paste to your rusty tools and allow it to set for at least 30 minutes, and then scrub off. Repeat again if necessary, and always rinse clean with water when finished. Another hack here is after use, always insert your garden tools into a pail of sand to prevent rusting. 4. Disinfect and Clean your Garden Tools and Surface Mix a tablespoon of borax in a liter of warm water. Make use of this solution to soak and scrub pots and tools. 5. Ant Killer If you want to get rid of ants in your garden, try this borax bait hack or borax ant bait recipe. For this, you’ll need - watch video. Mix everything well and place this in a bottle with holes in the lid or any container or cup like this with some small holes for the ants to enter into the trap, but not larger enough for honey bees to enter inside or you can also pour directly on the the affected spot. But I have no luck yet. Let s wait for few more days and will update you if ants trapped with a video at my Instagram page. That was our episode on something new in gardening – that’s benefits of borax in garden. MILK IN GARDENING - Benefits of Milk in Garden Soil as Fertilizer - Blossom End Rot Treatment

04:09
Did you know that Milk can be good for your garden and use of milk in gardening can work as a fertilizer and help get rid of plant diseases like powdery mildew and viruses. To know more about this and the exact recipe to use in gardening watch this entire video on how to use milk in garden soul as a fertilizer. Firstly, we shall talk about the benefits of milk in gardening and then in the end about the recipe and how to use it on your plants. 1. Firstly, its use as a FERTILIZER – Milk contains calcium, beneficial proteins, vitamin B and sugars that are good for plants, improving their overall health and crop yields. SO treatment of calcium deficiency in plants with milk spray. 2. Used as a quick remedy for Blossom End Rot (BER) commonly seen in tomato and pepper and spraying milk on the plant leaves helps a lot – that’s called foliar feeding. This Blossom end rot is due to lack of calcium either in the soil or a defect in the plant system to uptake calcium from soil. 3. Milk has been used as an effective antifungal agent, specially in the prevention of powdery mildew. 4. Milk has been used in pesticide applications, especially for aphids. And also milk has been effective in reducing the transmission of mosaic leaf viruses such as tobacco mosaic. There are certain drawbacks of using milk in garden, like: 1. Excessive use of milk can help harmful bacteria to multiply and spoil the plant producing a foul odour and then poor plant growth. 2. Rarely it can induce plant rot and some leaf spots if used inadvertently. But, whatever, the benefits are a good thing for us in gardening. SO lets learn how to correctly use the milk in garden. It’s a simple formula – just two points on this: - If it's skim milk, you can pour or spray it directly onto your plant's leaves - this is called foliar feeding. The leaves will absorb the milk solution. - Secondly to be on the safer side, use 50 percent Milk + 50% Water and spray on the plants foliage. Now the question is How often you can do this – the answer is – use of milk monthly once is recommended. And for plants already suffering from blossom end rot problem, along with this quick remedy, you can also used calcium nitrate spray, egg shell powder in soil, bone meal powder and also garden lime in soil. - - Thirdly – one Gardening Hack to use this milk solution : You can pour the milk solution around the base of the plants where the roots will gradually absorb the milk especially for smaller gardens. The gardening hack here is: Place the top portion of a 1or 2-liter bottle containing milk solution (upside down) in the soil next to the plant. This makes an excellent hack to offer both water and milk feed to your plants. Lastly 2 more TIPS: - 1. When you are finished with your milk container, before you wash it out, fill it with water and shake it and water your plants - 2. Do not spray any form of chemical pesticide or chemical fertilizer after applying milk fertilizer. This can affect the useful ingredients in milk that actually help the plants— that’s the commensal bacteria. Well, that’s all in this episode folks, If you have any comments and better ideas, do let us know in the comments section below the video. Also please give a thumbs up if you like the video. You'll Be Amazed With What Cinnamon Can Do To Your Garden

03:22
Cinnamon is a fantastic aromatic, which makes it great for baking and cooking, but this versatile spice isn't just for the kitchen! With origins dating back to as early as 2700 B.C., cinnamon is a popular spice all over the world for uses in cooking and medicine. Once a very valuable trade commodity, you can find ground cinnamon and cinnamon sticks at most grocery stores at a fair price. You might want to stockpile the spice when you see everything it can do in your garden. 1.Cinnamon as rooting agent Cinnamon as a rooting agent is as useful as willow water or hormone rooting powder. A single application to the stem when you plant the cutting will stimulate root growth in almost every plant variety. Give your cuttings for example rose cuttings a quick start with the help of cinnamon powder. Pour a spoonful onto a paper towel and roll damp stem ends in the powder before Planting the stems in fresh potting soil. The cinnamon will encourage the stem to produce roots and more stems, while helping to prevent the fungus that causes damping-off disease. 2.Protect seedlings from disease The antifungal properties in cinnamon make it a great tool for protecting seedlings from rot and disease, also known as damping off. Keeping moisture at bay is key; dusting the seeds with cinnamon and using a doming tactic can protect the seeds until they grow. 3.Defeat fungus When you sprinkle ground cinnamon on soil, it kills fungi. Take advantage of cinnamon fungicide control by making a cinnamon spray for plants. Stir some cinnamon powder into warm water and allow it to steep overnight. Strain the liquid through a coffee filter and put the results into a spray bottle. Spray the stems and leave of affected plants. You can use cinnamon to kill wild mushrooms too. 4.Heal sick plants Try sprinkling cinnamon on a plant wound from cutting or other damage to speed up the healing process and protect it from further damage or disease. 5.Deter ants If you have a problem with ants in your home or greenhouse, cinnamon is a good deterrent. Ants don’t like to walk where cinnamon powder lays, so ant problems will be decreased. Use cinnamon for pests inside and outside your house. Find their entryway and sprinkle cinnamon powder in the path. Cinnamon won’t kill the ants in your home, but it will help to keep them from coming inside. If you have a problem with ants in your child’s sandbox, mix a container of cinnamon powder with the sand, mixing it well. Ants will steer clear of the sand. 6.Keep mosquitoes away from the garden Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon around your plants to keep mosquitoes and other bugs away. They don't like the strong smell of cinnamon, so you can enjoy your garden even at night in peace. Have you tried using cinnamon in the garden? HYDROGEN PEROXIDE in Garden | Top 5 Uses of Hydrogen-peroxide in Gardening H2O2

03:36
H2o2 - Hydrogen peroxide for plants is an easily available household disinfectant and bleaching agent and is one of the useful garden chemicals. The Top 5 uses of Diluted hydrogen peroxide in garden, mainly because of its antimicrobial and oxygen releasing properties in gardening. Hydrogen peroxide is a colorless liquid with chemical formula H2O2 similar to water, with just an extra oxygen atom, but it is a combustible and corrosive substance, especially at higher concentrations. Although it is inorganic, that is a chemical, but it easily decomposes to water and oxygen, and hence safe to be used even in organic gardening - that is hydrogen peroxide hacks: 1. Disinfecting Garden pots and tools specially the cutter or pruner in cloning process: For this you can use 6% h2o2 solution to wipe off the cutting tool with a cotton soaked in hydrogen peroxide or dip the tool into the solution. This increases the chances of a high success rate in growing plants from cuttings, because you are not introducing pathogens into the plants from cutting tools. 2. Disinfect Germination Trays and Potting Mix: for a high success rate in germination. Add 3% h2o2 solution to the seed starting or potting soil and leave it over night before using the soil for seed sowing. The germination trays can also be wiped with 6% solution. 3. Accelerate Germination Time and Root Development: Seeds soaked in diluted hydrogen peroxide germinate faster and display healthy growth. This is because of the oxygen released when hydrogen peroxide breaks down. Since oxygen requirement of sprouting seeds is very high, this extra oxygen supply is obviously beneficial. So best is to mix 1 to 3 % solution in soil or simply water the seeds with the solution. This also helps in root development. 4. Control Bacterial and Fungal Root or Stem Rots: Spray a diluted solution of 1 to 3 % depending on the severity of the disease. Do not use high concentrations, as this may burn the plant. 5. Weed Killer: At 10% concentration and above it completely destroys all types of vegetation it comes in contact with. so, use it with caution around your plants. One Warning: If it accidentally splashes on your hands or gets into your eyes, flush immediately with lots of cold water. So, there we have it folks. That was our episode on the top 5 h2o2 benefits of hydrogen peroxide in garden. If you like the video, please give a thumbs up and also use share button to share with your friends.
