Female Viagra? Does it exist?

02:56
I am asked frequently if women can take Viagra. Men and women generally have different issues. Men usually complain of performance problems, not sex drive. Women "usually" are looking to improve their low libido. If they have performance issues, it is more related to the vaginal changes of menopause. Studies in women were very disappointing, because it does NOT improve libido, and should have been obvious at the onset of the study. A new medicine, “Flibanserin" is a novel drug, that reportedly works to improve libido in women by stimulating the brain. It was denied by the FDA, but has just resubmitted an application to be approved. It stimulates neurotransmitters in the brain, similar to an antidepressant, but it does it in a different part of the brain.

Female Viagra (Addyi)

05:40
I’m stunned by the extremes to which a pharmaceutical company will go when attempting to get FDA approval for some new drug. Take a look at the latest offering from privately-held Sprout Pharmaceuticals, who claim they now have a “female Viagra.” Yes, really. It is called Addyi. This drug is potentially dangerous, with some frightening side effects. They include an increased risk of syncope—temporary loss of consciousness—as well as severe low blood sugar, insomnia, dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, sedation, and anxiety. Manufacturers warn if you decide to use it, not to drink alcohol. I wouldn’t touch Addyi with a ten foot pole. Addyi is actually Flibanserin—a failed antidepressant. Unlike Viagra, which is designed to bring more blood flow to male genitals if a man chooses to use it temporarily, Addyi is supposed to be used every day—long-term by women. It claims to enhance a woman’s sexual impulses by targeting, not your genitals but your brain. Flibanserin is similar to other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Prozac. Ironically these drugs are notorious not for increasing libido, but for blunting it. Some time ago, Big Pharma invented a whole new “illness” known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, defined as “persistently or recurrently deficient (or absent) sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity.” Addyi is supposed to treat this. Originally developed by family-owned Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany Flibanserin, after lengthy trails was judged to be ineffective as an antidepressant. Boehringer had submitted this drug to the FDA for approval in 2011. It was refused. Out of 1300 women who took part in trials, 15% dropped out due to unpleasant side effects. The FDA rejected the appeal, saying that whatever the drugs drug’s minor benefits might be they could not justify its nasty side effects. So Boehringer sold their invention to Sprout Pharmaceuticals in 2011. Who tried their luck with the FDA in 2013 and also got nowhere. However, Sprout’s persistence, massive lobbying and and financial investments amassed more than 60,000 supporting signatures so finally won FDA’s approval for the drug in August of 2015. This FDA approval stands next to many other applications which have won FDA approval in the past, showing that, when companies spend enough money, they can, in effect, force the FDA to approve many useless or dangerous drugs. Adriane Fugh-Berman MD, Pharmacology Professor at Georgetown University, describes Addyi as "a mediocre aphrodisiac with scary side-effects.” She adds, “The only thing that’s different is a clever, aggressive public relations campaign that Sprout Pharmaceuticals waged successfully.” Meanwhile, the outspoken Dr Mark Sircus makes his own assessment of the situation, which is well worth listening to. Sircus says, “Most doctors and medical associations just do not get that women are different from men sexually. They do not have genitals that function independent of their hearts and minds. The feminine principle is pretty much dead in modern civilization and especially at the FDA, which runs like the SS, a medical Gestapo. The FDA again proves what type of organization it is exposing women in America to the dangers and horrors of pharmaceutical drugs. They are the most unnatural organization in the world poisoning people instead of helping.” Need I say more? If you want to learn about safe natural aphrodisiacs that not only work but are a delight to use, I’ll be covering some of my favorites on our next two videocasts. Look forward to seeing you then.

WOMAN 3: A silent wall of shame grew between us IGOR VOLSKY: These women suffer from lack of sexual desire and now a new pill developed by Sprout Pharmaceuticals could help jump start their libido. JAMES SIMON: This has been under the radar, hidden, most women are just sucking it up, so to speak. IGOR VOLSKY: After years with no FDA-approved solutions, Flibanserin -- popularly known as “the female Viagra” -- may finally provide women with treatment. In fact, women’s health groups have joined with the pharmaceutical company to create a new campaign called Even The Score. That campaign is lobbying the FDA to approve Flibanserin. It's about time, right? CINDY PEARSON: Even The Score is full of lies, knowing willful lies. IGOR VOLSKY: One such lie, the campaign strongly implies the drug is similar to Viagra, but that's not true at all. Men take the little blue pill when they want to have sex to increase blood flow to the penis. Women would have to take Flibanserin daily -- and that pill works to convince the brain to desire sex. Also, as one of the doctors advising the FDA told us, this drug isn’t for nearly any women. CALEB ALEXANDER: In general medicine, in my clinical practice of 15 years, I’ve never met a woman that fulfills the formal diagnostic criteria for this disorder. IGOR VOLSKY: And for the few pre-menopausal women who do qualify, they would have to make some major life changes. The only way I could take this product as a woman is: I have to stop drinking, I have to get off my prescription birth control, contraception pill... CALEB ALEXANDER: No anti-fungal medicine for vaginal yeast infections. IGOR VOLSKY: Ok, stop that. And I have to take it at night and over a six month period I might, during some point in that six months experience a slightly heightened desire to have sex. CALEB ALEXANDER: Right. IGOR VOLSKY: In fact, the few participants who made such a small increase in their sexual activity that we had trouble characterizing it. And many participants experienced adverse effects that the expert panelists feared would only increase in the general population. CALEB ALEXANDER: If you faint while you drive a car, you may kill yourself or someone else. These safety concerns in light of the very modest effectiveness benefit together don’t present a favorable package. IGOR VOLSKY: The FDA previously rejected Flibanserin twice and this third time around, they requested an additional study of how the drug interacts with alcohol. The company enrolled 25 people: 23 men and only 2 women -- and later claimed it didn’t have the ‘foresight’ to enroll more women. CINDY PEARSON: Sprout Pharmaceuticals set off to do the right thing, I believe, but they then went astray. When the FDA said, we’re still not convinced, you still haven’t answered all the questions about safety, then they started advancing pretty significant amounts of money into this marketing campaign IGOR VOLSKY: After a full day of hearings, the panel voted 18-6 to approve the drug, though not without conditions and some serious reservations. PANELIST 1: Women suffering from HSDD deserve better than this. PANELIST 2: I think we all wish it was a drug that was a better one. PANELIST 3: There are serious safety concerns, so my yes is conditional. PANELIST 4: If this were the 7th drug in the class, I think it would be a very different discussion. IGOR VOLSKY: So will this drug really help women? JAMES SIMON: It is not perfect. The drug is not perfect, the FDA is not perfect. We accept certain imperfections to move progress. CINDY PEARSON: If the FDA approves flibanserin, I will be convinced forever that it came about as a result of a brilliant marketing campaign and not the result of good science and I’m afraid women will suffer as a result.

Despite being dubbed the female viagra, unlike Viagra, which affects blood flow to the genitals, Flibanserin, works on the brain. According to Sprout Pharmaceuticals, the privately held startup that designed the drug, Flibanserin focuses on the brain's prefrontal cortex and enables sexual desire to manifest by rebalancing neurotransmitters that influence it. Specifically, flibanserin increases dopamine and norepinephrine, responsible for sexual excitement, and decreases serotonin, which is responsible for sexual satiety and inhibition. This is likely achieved by a reduction of glutamate transmission. Women who took the drug in a clinical study have shown an increase of about 1.0 more sexually satisfying events per month, Reuters reported. The pill needs to be taken every day and its most common side effects are dizziness, nausea and sleepiness. Advocates claim that the increase in sexually satisfying events is meaningful, while critics say the benefit is outweighed by the drug’s risks. Flibanserin will be sold under the brand name Addyi. As the drug could potentially cause dangerously low blood pressure and fainting when taken with alcohol it will be sold exclusively through certified health care professionals and pharmacies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Media Animation’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D animated news graphics that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health. FDA Approves 'Female Viagra' Pill

01:01
The Food and Drug Administration approved a so-called "female Viagra" pill Tuesday, saying it wanted to offer an option to women with sexual dysfunction, a decision that disappointed doctors and advocates who said the drug didn't work safely enough to justify approval. Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said, "Today's approval provides women distressed by their low sexual desire with an approved treatment option." The drug works by changing how brain cells respond to various message carrying chemicals called neurotransmitters, with the aim of changing a woman's sexual desire over time. http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/663303/s/4918331a/sc/14/l/0L0Snbcnews0N0Chealth0Csexual0Ehealth0Cfda0Eapproves0Esays0Eno0Efemale0Eviagra0En411711/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

The Myth of "Female Viagra"

00:39
Viagra does not affect the desire for sex in men, it just helps with the hydraulics. The drug boosts blood flow to the genitals so men can get and sustain an erection. Yet the female libido drug that passed muster at a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel this week will not live up to the “female Viagra” hype it’s been getting. The new drug is designed to alter women’s brain chemistry over time to help increase sex drive. Unlike Viagra, it does not spark an immediate physical change in the body. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-myth-of-female-viagra/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Female “Viagra”: Flibanserin is backed by FDA panel for approval

01:24
SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND — An advisory panel of the Food and Drug Administration has voted for the approval of Flibanserin, dubbed the female “Viagra”. The final decision will be made on August 18. Flibanserin may see its release after being rejected twice in past. Flibanserin does not work like Viagra, which increases blood flow. Instead, it affects the brain’s chemicals, increasing the sexual desire of women. In the clinical trials, the drug was highly successful in improving the sex lives of thousands of women who participated. However, rare cases of side effects such as nausea and low blood pressure were reported. Women’s groups and medical practitioners are currently debating whether Flibanserin should be available in the market. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoUSA, where we animate the most entertaining news from ‘MURRICA. 3 Causes Of Male Impotency

23:06
What the three main causes of male impotency are and what you or your woman can and can’t do to make “The General” or “The Pork Sword” stand at attention. In this video coaching newsletter, I discuss an email from a female viewer who asks about a guy she recently met and fooled around with in the bedroom on two separate dates, but did not have sex with him because he did not get hard. They have a mutual friend who told her that this guy really likes her. While they were in bed together he told her how beautiful and desirable she was. He has been separated for a year from his wife and they have a kid together. She wonders if this guy is simply not that into her, not attracted to her or if he is simply not over his wife yet. She asks my opinion on contacting him because she does not want to appear needy, and what his inability to get hard really means. “There are three main reasons why a man becomes impotent and unable to perform sexually in the bedroom. When “The General” or “The Pork Sword” do not stand at attention, it’s usually because 1) the guy is nervous and has performance anxiety, because he is tense instead of being relaxed 2) he’s simply not turned on sexually, or 3) he has a medical condition usually related to inadequate blood supply to his lower unit. Causes 1 & 2 can be taken care of by the woman making the man feel comfortable, getting him to relax and having him focus on allowing and letting the sensations happen to him, instead of trying to force a boner. For a man, getting an erection is all about proper blood flow to his flesh rocket by allowing, relaxing, letting sensations happen to him, and practicing infinite patience to let an erection and sexual eruption happen slowly over time. Cause 3 needs to be addressed by a medical professional.” ~ Coach Corey Wayne Click the link below to make a donation via PayPal to support my work: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=LKGTSSLYJ93J6 Click the link below to book phone/Skype or email coaching with me personally: http://www.understandingrelationships.com/products Click the link below to get my Kindle eBook: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QOBAPK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004QOBAPK&linkCode=as2&tag=understand0d4-20 Click the link below to read my FREE self-help articles: http://www.understandingrelationships.com/ From my heart to yours, Corey Wayne

'Female Viagra' to Boost Women's Libido One Step Closer

00:47
The development of a pill to boost women's libido is one step closer after an American panel recommended the approval of the female equivalent of Viagra. A panel of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisers has voted in favour of recommending flibanserin, a daily pill nicknamed the “female Viagra”. The recommendation will be seen as a major coup for campaigners who have fought for women’s sex drives to receive the same level of medical attention as men’s. The decision will now be passed to the FDA itself, which will rule on whether the pill will be officially approved for public use later this year. http://telegraph.feedsportal.com/c/32726/f/564430/s/46fb26e7/sc/14/l/0L0Stelegraph0O0Cnews0Chealth0Cnews0C116561290CFemale0EViagra0Eto0Eboost0Ewomens0Elibido0Eone0Estep0Ecloser0Bhtml/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Female Viagra Addyi

01:53
http://www.sexhealthdoc.com/ I was recently asked to comment on the release of the new female Viagra pill, which by the way won't be released until October 17th, 2015, and the differences between how it works and Viagra for men. The main difference that I understand based on all of the information that I've read about, is that the male Viagra affects the genital regions, it basically increases blood flow to male genitals. What's interesting to think about there, is I consider that to be a biological solution to Erectile Dysfunction for men. Now, the female Viagra pill Addyi, which is being marketed by Sprout Pharmaceuticals is more of an anti depressant pill, which must be taken on a daily basis. It's meant to improve sexual desire over time, but it's really more of a psychological approach to female sexual dysfunction, basically hypo-sexual disorder. Basically, it's low libido for women. Of course there's a lot of controversy of the side effects of the drug when women take it. I'm sure we're going to hear and learn a lot more about the drug as it becomes more popular, but for right now that's my comment. PAKISTAN: VIAGRA FINDS ITS WAY ONTO THE BLACK MARKET

02:57
Urdu/Eng/Nat Doctors in Pakistan are warning of the dangers of men buying the impotence pill Viagra on the black market and taking it without prescription. The sale of the drug in the country is currently being debated by the government - it says it wants to make sure the drug will be made available in the safest possible way. But medical experts say the problem of impotency is high in the country and that men are anxious to try out supplies of Viagra introduced illegally at a high price. Viagra, the impotency pill, is proving to be big business in Pakistan. The drug, first released in the U-S in March 1998, is legally available in more than 50 countries worldwide. Many people consider it the beginning of a new revolution in pharmaceuticals. In Pakistan, the government is currently discussing when and how to introduce the drug. But Viagra has already found its way onto the black market in the country's capital Islamabad and can be bought at a high price. One tablet can cost anything from 20 to 50 U-S dollars - a bottle of Viagra tablets can cost anything from 360 to 800 U-S dollars. Some Viagra users say the drug has been freely available to them for some time now and that they're prepared to pay up. SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) "Viagra is a sex drug and I have been using it for about two years and found it very good, because it adds energy to the body if we use it two hours before sexual intercourse. I have found no other medicine better than Viagra and the demand for it is now growing." SUPER CAPTION: Abdul Qadir, Viagra user The country's health department has so far been reluctant to legalise Viagra - but it is aware of the black market problem and is prosecuting anyone found selling the drug. Government officials say they want to make sure that there are no loopholes before Viagra is legally available in Pakistan. SOUNDBITE: (English) "In the West they know that this drug has got side effects and that it is a prescription drug. So nobody can buy it without prescription, while in Pakistan we still have some loopholes, some weaknesses where the drug can be sold over the counter and this is my main worry in resisting to register it." SUPER CAPTION: Professor Ghayyur H. Ayub, Director General of Health Ministry There have been worries that Viagra may have side effects. But Pfizer, the company that produces Viagra, maintains the drug is a safe medicine for erectile dysfunction when used as recommended in the approved package insert. There are already many legal drugs on sale in Pakistan to help enhance sex. Herbal doctors offer remedies for impotency, claiming they're natural products that have no side effects. The herbal remedy sellers can often be found on roadsides doing a roaring trade - but even they now say that the new wonder drug is threatening their trade. Medical experts say there is no official impotency figure in the country because Pakistani men are reluctant to admit they have a problem in a nation where sex is a taboo subject. But doctors say it is an ever increasing problem and they are warning of the dangers of taking the impotence pill without prescription. Doctor Khalid Saeed said it is even more of a worry as impotency affects men of all ages. SOUNDBITE: (English) "There are two basic main groups in which we can find this who come to us commonly. One is the younger age group - they are really people in their early 20s and the other group is somewhere in the late 40s and 50s and both of them have different presentations. People in the younger age group generally come to you just before they are about to get married." SUPER CAPTION: Dr Khalid Saeed, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry, Rawalpindi In the meantime, they are encouraging people to seek alternative remedies. FDA approves "female viagra"

02:12
The FDA approved the first treatment for low sexual libido in women this week. Addyi is the pill dubbed the female viagra. Experts say it works differently than the men's version-which moves blood flow to the pelvic floor. Instead of the physical aspect, Addyi focuses on the mental portion for women. It's hard to miss an ad for 26 medications that help men with low libido, but you won't find one for women just yet.... Amanda Parrish says, "I know the big campaign has been 26-0, we're just on the board now with one option." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved flibanserin also known as Addyi, on Tuesday. Amanda Parrish is not only an advocate, along with her husband Ben...but joined the clinical trial when they were dating. Amanda Parrish says, "It's such an unmet need and such an untalked about thing. About four years into our relationship which was very positive, sexually charged, very emotionally healthy, I noticed a change." With hypo-active sexual desire disorder, she took the pink pill for about 9 months. The FDA then turned it down in 2009. Parrish says, "I was frustrated and worried because after about two weeks everything went back to normal. The whole time I was on the trial I became an active initiator again, we had so much fun." Brooke Faught says, "For the women that do take this medication and do respond to itit can significantly make a difference ." Brooke Faught, is the clinical director of The Womens Institute for Sexual Health. WISH worked with the trial drug developed by Sprout Pharmaceuticals. Fraught says, "This is absolutely not a date rape drug. This medication does not make women hypersexual, it gently increases women's sexual events per month as well as the neurotransmitters." Along with WISH, Parrish is celebrating...texting her husband about the fda approval I said, it's going to be a great winter so cozy up cowboy and he texted back, yeehaw! Even though we haven't had the drug in five years, we've had the benefit of opinion line of communication." Parrish is a womens health blogger and just started She4Women non-profit. Experts say, Addyi should be available this October. The drugs interaction with alcohol showed that flibanserin can cause hypotension and dizziness in some patients who drink.
