Building a (balsa model) Spitfire
How I spent my Thanksgiving vacation: Reliving my youth by building a Guillows Balsa wood model of a Supermarine Spitfire. It was a lot more sanding and cutting and trimming than I remembered. Still pretty fun. Filmed entirely with a GoPro Hero2 on ten-second time lapse, 5mp image, Medium angle. Edited with Windows Movie Maker at 0.07 seconds per frame. Sixty times faster than real life. Enjoy!

COX .049 Model Airplane Engines & More ))))))
Running up my 3 COX 049s...one is a TD and the other two are Production engines from PT-19 control line planes. One is mounted on a SIG Acrobat 1/2 A control line plane. The TD is on a remote control plane called the HONKER. One is on a board)))) Been 19 years since they have been run. Love that sound as it reminds me of good times with my Dad. We crashed many learning. Also found my childhood Stanzel Electromic Police Rescue Copter. Seems I got one every Christmas. Many hours of lollygagging as a boy! Also a peek at my un-finished yet soon to be finished AeroSmith Prowler Control Line Stunt Plane with a Randy Smith specially tuned OS 40 FP-S Control Line engine. Never been run. I just love distracting myself as I attempt to re-organize my Nut-Hut. Carry forth and thankee for watching. Hope to get to some Hammock Stuff soon....... Whooooo Buddy, Shug

Pilot "Twin Ace" RC Model
This is a video of my Japanese "Twin Ace" which was a "Pilot Kit" made in Japan in the mid 1980's. I purchased the kit from a local hobby shop in Cincinnati for $100.00 in 1986. I laid the plans on the building board and there they stayed for 17 years building a piece here and there...I had the fuselage and main wing completed in 1988. Did not get to it again until 2003 when I finally completed the model... It went through many changes and modifications to accommodate the new 25 FX engines and the mufflers to go with them...They extended plywood rails to mount the engines had plastic cowls that needed to be cut out and the two halves glued together... The cowls were not going to fit around the newer engines so I built up a balsa block on top of the rails then sanded them to shape to mask the engines that were mounted inverted. The original plans were in Japanese with just a few photographs. The instructions were then translated in German and then into broken English which required planning 3 or 4 steps ahead so something was not built out of order.... I suspect the model went through as many changes as I did in those years with several moves and other things going on in my life that never allowed me the time to complete it sooner.... When I finally decided to finish it, I had several cob webs on the wing and the color of the balsawood changed compared to the wood in the kit that was still in the box...The maiden flight in 2003 was a wild and crazy experience as I realized the gaps in the control surfaces were wider than they should have been...I almost lost it on the very first flight.. I ended up sealing the gaps with red 1/8 inch shrink tubing since any type of iron on film would not stick to the "Rust-Oleum" spray paint... The shrink tubing was carefully glued into place on one side only, using a toothpick and "RC 56" canopy glue... This kept the gaps sealed while flexing flat when the control surface was moved and then expanding again when the control surface was in the neutral position.....I have been flying the model every year since at our RC Model Air Show we put on with The Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club....There are no flaps so you do have to bring it a little hot for the smoother landings....Though it took 17 years to complete, the last 11 years I have flown it have been a real joy for me.....The original design of the model was to make it appear to look like a twin engine commercial business model, but needing Japanese look alike type models for our Air Show recreation events I just decided to paint it green and put the Japanese markings on the wings... This is not a Scale Model of any known Japanese aircraft in WW II, but I have seen some prototypes in books that look like it could match up from stand off position. Alas, I created the "Japanese Twin Ace" not because of the WW II markings, but more so since the kit was manufactured in Japan.

Maiden Flight of 1/4 Scale G-BUCO Pietenpol 2 Aug 2014
First flight of radio controlled 1/4 scale Pietenpol built from RCM plans. Bob Hess started this build in 1991 and I finished it this year. For the color scheme and registration, I used Alan James' G-BUCO full scale Pietenpol. At 1/4 scale, it has an 84" wingspan and powered by a Saito .71 four-cycle motor. Weighs 9 lbs 5 ozs. Flown at Western Flyers' flying field at Mead, Nebraska. Concerning the first flight; the landing was hard due to the motor loading up and killing as I gave it full throttle to go around. This was a new engine that I ran with a rich fuel setting. Thanks to Rene Mayo for taking the still pictures, and Tom Wild for running the video camera. Also Loren Blinde for assisting with the first flight. Special thanks to Alan James for allowing me to use his Pietenpol's color scheme and registration letters (G-BUCO) after the fact.

Wright Brothers First Flight RARE Footage
Real footage from the Wright Brother's flight. The Wright brothers, Orville (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948) and Wilbur (April 16, 1867 – May 30, 1912), were two American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who are credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903. From 1905 to 1907, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft. Although not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible. --------------------- This film is brought to you by ApexTV. Let's Fly RC - LF-Trojan - Overview
I have been flying RC Helicopters and Quad-copters for the past 10 years with the intention of filming aerial videos. About 2 years ago, I started watching a YouTube channel called FliteTest. Their videos were so inspirational, and entertaining, that I got more interested in the hobby, and started flying planes too. Well, I got hooked, and, some say I went overboard. I got a laser cutter, and started building planes. Well, here is my 3rd creation, the Let's Fly Trojan. This plane flies great. It has great speed, and it can slow down and glide well too. The roll characteristics are wonderful, and it has no problem with maneuverability. It is a 4 channel airplane, and, so far, my favorite choice in power setup includes: Motor: Suppo 2217-07 ESC: Suppo 30A Prop: 9 x 4.7 slow fly, or a 10 x 4.7 Battery: 2200mah Although it is hard to compete (and I don't plan to) with FliteTest's great quality videos, I hope to continue to make more planes, and showcase them on my YouTube channel Lets Fly RC, and on my newly created website, LetsFlyRC.com. I will have the plans available for free, attached to the build video. Stay tuned. Thanks For watching. Guillow's Arrow - Stick and Tissue Model Plane
Location: Eagle River, Alaska 2014/09/23 The Video and Model/Kit: I was on my own so I both launched the plane and captured the video. Next time I should bring a tripod...and a video camera other than my phone. This is a compilation of a few test flights of my newly built Guillow's Arrow. It comes as a few sheets (shapes laser cut) and some sticks with full size plans for assembly. Covering: The covering is tissue paper (like the tissue one would be used as decoration for a present/gift). I sprayed/misted 3 very light treatments of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating on the tissue before flying. The coating makes the tissue less permeable and less absorbent, and a bit more resistant to damage. Rubber Motor: I did not use the rubber that came with the kit. It is a grey rubber that I will probably use for something. The included rubber is junk compared the the SIG Sport Rubber I bought a few years ago from A2Z/Peck (that no longer sells this type of stuff). I expect that I will not have too much trouble getting some additional quality rubber in the near future. Nose Block: For these test flights I only put about 100 to 220 winds in the rubber -- putting a bit more in each flight. When I said 70 winds during the video, I could more accurately have said "70 seconds of winding" using the little electric winder i made from a power screwdriver. Each second the screwdriver makes 2 to 3 full rotations. Using an electric winder makes it easier to wind the rubber without using a friend or stooge to hold planes. I was unable to stretch the rubber while winding since the hole for the nose bearing is very small. I will need to make a removable nose block that will allow the rubber to be stretched while winding. Propeller: I plan to add additional info for this plane/model on future videos. e.g. info about the popup tail dethermalizer i added, the landing gear modification, etc. I will say that the propeller that was part of the kit seems to be pretty poor. I added 5 dental rubber bands to the tip of one blade to balance the excess weight of the other blade. For other props i have used I have only needed to add a bit (or two) of clear tape to one of the blades.

rc electric airplanes for beginners
I want to fly some cool RC jets but I'm not sure what to get? We aren't sure what to fly either which is why we bring 5 to the field. People are always surprised when we pull out our planes and toss one in the air. They always ask, "Where did you get that" We tell them we made them and they have a hard time believing us. Why pay big bucks for a store bought RC plane that's just going to break and they won't even sell you parts to fix it? Why not build your own RC planes for pennies on the dollar like we do? We have the PDF plans, Instructional Guides, and even a Simulator to do it all from home in a couple evenings. click here: http://bit.ly/1g1YkBt rc electric airplanes rtf rc electric airplanes for sale electric rc airplanes amazon radio controlled electric airplanes rc electric planes rc electric plane motor calculator electric rc planes magazine

Bloody Wonder Kappa
FT Bloody wonder scratch build. I did my build followin the guide from www.flitetest.com http://flitetest.com/articles/FT_Bloody_Wonder_Scratch_Build This is my first scratch built airplane made based on the plans from the marvellous www.flitetest.com . I am a total beginner, begun flying in 9/2013. It soon went under my skin. I built my Bloody wonder from kappa boards which are bulkier and heavier then the original used by flitetest. As result my engine is not adequate and while the plane flies very nice it cannot climb vertically. As a result i plan to buy a stronger motor. On that day it was sunny with absolutely no wind. My flight time was a bit shorter because the day before i hit the ground with propeller and got a crack in my firewall engine mount which broke during the last flight and i was getting a lot of vibrations. I fly usually untill the buzzer goes off, which monitors battery voltage. Bought from hobbyking. Enjoy the nice weather and enjoyable airplane. I welcome comments and questions. My friend here flies a Multiplex Funcub. The streamer behind my airplane is made from crape paper.

Blackburn Monoplane (Britains oldest airworthy aeroplane)
Video and Audio content is Copyright © 2014 Malcolm Auld This video and audio material may not be used in any form without written permission. Robert Blackburn was born on the 26th March 1885 and became one of Britain's first aircraft designers and builders. His first aeroplane to fly did so at Filey in 1910 and he then produced several designs over the next two years. The basic 1912 machine was called the Mercury or the Type D monoplane. It was quite an advanced design for the time with all surfaces fully covered and an engine cowling around the top part of the engine. Although the design looks modern it still retains wing warping as the method of lateral control. The Collection's Blackburn monoplane was the seventh Mercury monoplane built. It was built in October 1912 to the order of Cyril Foggin, who learnt to fly at the Blackburn School at Hendon. It first flew in December 1912 in the hands of Harold Blackburn and was demonstrated by the company during the first part of 1913. Cyril Foggin first flew his new aeroplane on March 24 1913, but the aircraft was still used as a demonstration model by Blackburn. The aircraft was also used by Harold Blackburn to fly copies of the Yorkshire Post newspaper from Leeds to York between July 23-25 1913. The Blackburn Monoplane was then modified to have rounded wing tips and was fitted with a new design of undercarriage. It was then acquired by Montague Francis Glew, but he crashed the Blackburn at Wittering, Lincolnshire in 1914. The outbreak of the First World War led to the Blackburn being abandoned and forgotten. It was discovered in 1937 by Richard Shuttleworth, hidden under a haystack. Richard had to purchase the haystack to obtain the aeroplane. He then took the aircraft back to Old Warden and started to restore the aircraft, but Richard was killed in 1940 and work stopped. After the war, Richard Shuttleworth's chief engineer, Squadron Leader L.A. Jackson completed the restoration in 1949. The first flight of the Blackburn monoplane after restoration was made at nearby RAF Henlow on September 17 1949 by Group Captain A.H. Wheeler. The first public appearance of the Blackburn was made on the 25th September at the Royal Aircraft Establishments display at Farnborough. Since then it has been flying regularly with the Shuttleworth Collection and when the weather is calm enough it still takes to the air. Today it is a unique machine as it is the oldest airworthy British aeroplane in the world. Height: 8ft Length: 33ft Wingspan: 35ft 8in Engine: one 50hp Gnome rotary Max. Speed: 60mph

» Subscribe to Red Bull Air Race: http://win.gs/SubToAirRace British pilots Paul Bonhomme and Nigel Lamb take time out from practice to fly an eighty year old WWII British Spitfire plane in the lead up to the Red Bull Air Race at Ascot in the English countryside. -- About: The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features the world's best pilots in a motorsports competition based on speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile and lightweight racing planes, Red Bull Air Race pilots navigate a low-level aerial race track made up of air filled pylons, flying at speeds reaching 230mph while withstanding forces of up to 10g. The objective is to complete the course, navigating the 65 feet high specially designed inflatable pylons known as Air Gates in the fastest possible time. Red Bull Air Race pilots must pass between the Air Gates in the correct position taking care not to touch them with their wings. The pilots compete for points at each Red Bull Air Race and the one who accumulates the most at the end of the season is crowned Red Bull Air Race World Champion. » Subscribe to Red Bull Air Race: http://win.gs/SubToAirRace » Go Inside Air Race: http://win.gs/VisitRedBullAirRace » Like on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/redbullairrace » Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Redbullairrace

Plans Are Doomed to Fail - The Battle of Galicia I THE GREAT WAR Week 6
While the Germans on the Western Front are very close to reaching Paris, the Eastern Front proves to become a disastrous failure for the Austro-Hungarian forces. Conrad von Hötzendorf overestimated his skills and the strength of his troops. And after his too complicated plan in Galicia failed, the town of Lemberg falls into the hands of the Russians. Meanwhile, the war starts spreading into Asia, as Japan is besieging Tsingtao and New Zealand conquers German Samoa. Fast RC Airplane On the Beach - RcLifeOn
On my trip to Denmark I got the opportunity to fly on a place called Blokhus, with miles of beaches and ocean. I brought my newly built B-2 bomber (plans here: http://www.mesarcfoamfighters.com/#!plane-plans/ccb) and the Bixler. Even though it was windy I managed to get some rather nice looking footage and had a blast! The B-2 bomber was powered by the Turnigy2836 brushless outrunner 2350kv, 40 amp Plush electric speed controller and a 2200 Nano Tech 3s lipo battery. 55 mph would be a rough estimate with eye measure but could probably reach speeds up to 70 mph with perfect winds. Thanks for watching and don´t forget to subsribe!
