Sadly, I have some crappy genetics and gaining muscle and losing fat has always been an uphill battle for me. But I’ve never given up and in the process, I’ve learned everything there is to gaining muscle and losing fat, naturally. This also probably explains why I became an anti-aging, endocrinology doctor - which is the study of hormones. And I’ve coached professional and Olympic athletes, including lots of bodybuilders. So today, I’m here to pass on all of my wisdom, so you can learn from my mistakes. I’ve simplified the entire process of gaining muscle to 4 simple and clinically proven “ingredients”. 4 Primary Ingredients For Building Muscle Ingredient #1 - HORMONES Before anything can be said and done, you must have the right hormones for building muscle. They need to be optimized. We all have different genetics and please don’t compare yourself to someone else who might have great genetics and then think there’s something wrong with you. Just as someone who is a genius and has a high IQ, some people are just born with lots of muscle cells and the perfect hormones for building muscle and losing fat. If you don’t optimize your hormones, anything else you do will NOT work and it’ll be a waste of effort, time and money. In fact, the right hormonal environment will make you grow muscle without doing anything - no exercise, diets or supplements. And, this is exactly what happens when you hit puberty and all of a sudden you start getting muscular, leaner, more aggressive, hornier, etc. It’s ALL about the hormones. But let’s move on to the second most important ingredient and that’s EXERCISE Ingredient #2 - EXERCISE In order for muscle to grow, it FIRST needs to be “stimulated” and that requires exercise. The correct form of exercise ALSO produces important hormones and growth factors, that will build muscle. And in order to do this, you need to lift weights. Now, this can be with dumbbells, barbells, cables, machines or your own bodyweight. It doesn’t matter. Okay, now that you’ve stimulated the muscle, have produced the right hormones, it’s time to FEED your muscles. Ingredient #2 - DIET If you don’t feed your muscles, the workouts will cause you to LOSE muscle. In fact, this is what happened to me when I first started. I thought I’d lift weights to make my muscles grow and then eat less food to lose fat. But all I did was get smaller and weaker. I was like anorexic. However, you don’t need that much extra food. Increase your calories by about 250-500 daily and see how you look and feel after a month. If you’re not getting fat, then good. If you are, lower the calories a little. This has to do with YOUR body, so listen to it, pay attention. As far as WHAT to eat. Okay… this is where all the confusion comes. Simple, easy and effective. Ingredient #4 - REST Now that you’ve stimulate and fed the muscle, you need to REST it. Just like a baby, you need your rest to grow. As far as sleep, get as much as you need. Exercising and doing this every other day could help you develop your pectoral muscles. You can increase the number of push-ups as much as you can. If this is too hard, try the adapted floor push-up with your knees on the floor. Your knees should be shoulder width apart. 3. To Drink Take 3 dates. Open them and remove seeds, wash them and split each one into 3 or 4 parts. Soak these dates in 1 glass of milk for at least 1 hour. Boil the milk and dates until you get the ¾ glass of milk. Let it cool. Add 1 tablespoon of Protein powder and blend it well. Try to eat dinner early and Drink this delicious milk at night before going to bed. Stop drinking tea, coffee, and smoking. In this video, I show you how not paying attention to the strength in your wrists, hands and forearms could be preventing you from making the gains you are seeking in the gym. I show you ways to incorporate extra work for these weak areas into muscle groups and exercises that you are already performing. If you had to spend hours extra in the gym each week to try and fix these, you likely never would. As a result, you would never be as strong as you should be. That said, if you are training your chest you likely are doing pushups at some point. Whether you are doing them as a finishing exercise or one of the main exercises in your chest workout there is a way to change them to make them more effective for your weak wrists or hands. Simply perform them as finger tip pushups if you need to increase your hand strength or as knuckle pushups if you want to increase the strength of your wrists. Likewise on back training day you can extend a regular pullup beyond failure to get more work for your wrists and forearms. Simply hang from the bar on your very last rep for as long as you can. You will feel the burn travel through your hands and forearms as you work to increase your muscular endurance and improve your grip for the bigger exercises. All of these benefits apply to other muscle groups as well. To promote strong bones and deter bone loss, add these foods to your daily diet: 1. Coconut Oil A recent study suggests that supplementing your diet with virgin coconut oil may help reverse the effects of estrogen deficiency, which includes the loss of bone density. The antioxidant properties of coconut oil can help maintain bone structure and prevent bone loss due to hormonal changes. You can take coconut oil in one of two ways: • Consume 3 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil each day to prevent osteoporosis, • Use virgin coconut oil for cooking. 2. Apples The antioxidants, polyphenols and flavonoids in apples make this fruit a powerful tool against osteoporosis. Almond milk also contains magnesium, manganese and potassium, which are essential for strong and healthy bones. 1. Soak 1 cup of almonds in water overnight. 2. The next day, remove the peels, put the almonds in a blender and add 2 cups of water. 3. Blend to a smooth puree, then add a little cinnamon powder and honey to taste. 4. Strain the solution and drink daily. 5. Prunes According to a Florida State University study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, eating prunes on a daily basis can help prevent fractures and osteoporosis. Prunes contain a high concentration of polyphenols – antioxidants that help reduce bone loss. They’re also a good source of boron and copper, which are two trace minerals that are important in bone formation. • Eat 2-3 prunes on a daily basis, and gradually increase to 6-10 per day. 6. Pineapple Pineapple contains manganese, which is beneficial in preventing and treating osteoporosis. Manganese deficiency has been associated with bone loss and bone malformation, which can cause osteoporosis. • Eat 1 cup of fresh pineapple daily for about 75% of the required daily dose of manganese. • Or, drink 1 cup of pineapple juice daily. 7. Omega-3 Fatty Acids A study published in the Journal of Bone Mineral Research found that the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil inhibit the activation of factors that lead to bone loss and muscle loss. Omega-3 fatty acids are able to minimize bone breakdown. Two ways to get more Omega-3s: • Eat cold-water fish such as salmon, to help raise the amount of essential fatty acids in your diet. • Eat walnuts, chia seeds or hemp seeds. 8. Dark, Leafy Green Vegetables Dark, leafy green vegetables such as spinach, collard greens, kale, mustard greens and turnip greens contain Vitamin K, an essential nutrient for keeping bones healthy and strong. Make vegetables a large part of your daily diet, especially leafy green ones! 9. Coriander The minerals in coriander are valuable for maintaining bone health. Coriander leaves and seeds are rich in calcium, potassium and manganese, along with magnesium and iron. Calcium and magnesium play a key role in treating and preventing weak bones. 1. Suffering from fatty liver or kidney problems, treat it yourself with neem leaves at your home. First of all try to plant a neem tree at your home & if you have one pluck some matured neem leaves. Try to eat it raw if possible for maximum benefit for curing your fatty liver. If you find the neem leaves too bitter to eat then pluck some matured neem leaves, wash it & fry it with a little bit of oil & add salt for taste. Please note that you may not be able to use the frying pan to fry other foods because all food will taste bitter for a week, so it will better to use some extra pan as I used to use an old frying pan to fry the neem leaves. Neem leaves are known to contain many beneficial compounds that have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agents. Neem leaves stimulates the immune system, improves liver functionality, detoxifies the blood and promotes a healthy respiratory and digestive system. Neem leaves can be used to cure malaria patients, diabetes, viral disease, effective in purifying blood which helps improve blood circulation, provide physical relief from cancer/tumor cells, Arthiritis, heals viral fever. Neem leaves if taken in small amounts 2-4 days a week can protect both the liver & kidneys but if taken in high quantities may cause damage. The leaf is also used for birth control and to cause abortions.
