Athlete of the Week: Louisa County's Job Whalen
Louisa County running back Job Whalen put up 187 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries Friday in a 62-21 win against previously unbeaten Monticello. As a team, Louisa rushed for 541 yards. Whalen leads the Lions this season with 685 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. (Oct. 17, 2017)

Class 4, Region B semifinals: Louisa County 35, Monacan 28
Louisa quarterback Malik Bell rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns, including a 79-yard score on 4th-and-1, as the No. 3 Lions (12-0) scored 28 unanswered points to top No. 2 Monacan (11-1) and earn a shot at No. 1 Dinwiddie (12-0) in Friday's Class 4, Region B championship game. Job Whalen added 77 yards and two rushing touchdowns, including a 29-yarder on fourth down to give Louisa a 28-21 lead with 7:00 to play. Monacan led, 21-7, early in the second quarter. Louisa County took control of the Jefferson District race with a 62-21 victory over previously unbeaten Monticello. The Lions rushed for 541 yards as a team. Class 4, Region B championship: Louisa 37, Dinwiddie 28
Quarterback Malik Bell racked up 176 rushing yards and four total touchdowns (2 rushing, 2 passing) as No. 3 Louisa County handed No. 1 Dinwiddie its first loss of the season. The Lions put up 319 rushing yards and more than doubled the Generals in time of possession. Louisa hosts Lafayette at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Class 4 state semifinals.

VISAA Division II state semifinals: Miller 65, Walsingham Academy 50
Aundre Hyatt scored 23 points, Jaylin Reed added 21 and No. 1 The Miller School beat No. 4 Walsingham Academy 65-50 in the VISAA Division II state semifinals at Virginia State University in Petersburg. Reed hit four 3-pointers, and Dae Dae Heard added 12 points. Jayline Stewart led Walsingham with 28 points. Miller faces No. 2 Blue Ridge at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the state championship game at VSU.

Athlete of the Week: Woodberry Forest's Dequece Carter
Woodberry Forest wide receiver Dequece Carter posted four-straight games this season with more than 100 receiving yards. The junior leads the Tigers with 36 catches for 776 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score against Collegiate.
