Why Whole Foods is one of the BEST grocery stores to shop zero waste

04:47
Over the last 8 weeks of transitioning to a zero waste lifestyle we've learned that most grocery stores are not familiar with BYOC (Bring Your Own Container) which creates an awkward encounter at the register. Whole Foods is NOT one of those store. Whole Foods has their system dialed and accommodates shoppers that bring in their own containers. They have a vast bulk section that contains most of the staples you have in your kitchen (except pasta). The customer service is excellent AND if you are an Amazon Prime member then you can receive additional discount off your purchase. Looking forward to your questions and comments. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE. Can you shop ZERO WASTE at Sprouts?

04:34
We're on a mission to radically change the way that we consume resources. One change that we're making is the way that we purchase groceries. We normally buy can beans, plastic bags of rice, boxes of cereal and other items that can be bought in bulk using glass jars. In this vlog we go shopping at Sprouts Farmers Market to learn what we need to do to accomplish our goal.

ZERO WASTE FAIL at Winco Foods

02:29
We went to Winco Foods in Roseville CA to shop for our weekly supplies and assumed that they would let us use our glass jars. I weighed the jars at the register (the clerk didnt say anything about not being able to use them) filled our bags and jars and when we tried to check out the clerk told us that they couldnt subtract the weight and that we would have to pay for the weight of our jars. Uhhhhhh what? The clerk was rude and barely made an effort to help us. I walked across the store, dumped the food out of our jars into plastic bags and completed our checkout while my wife stood there trying to keep our two kids under control. We did some research and found out that Winco doesnt allow glass jars because of "contamination" and "weight" which I think is a poor excuse because other stores like Sprouts have no problem accommodating their customers. Watch the entire vlog to see the FAQ from Winco's website. Should we start a campaign against Winco to encourage them to accept reusable jars? ONE SOLUTION is for Winco to offer their customers glass jars that can be returned for a credit. Sprouts does this with Top O The Morn Farms. Customers get a $2 credit when they return the jar to the store. This way, Winco can control contamination and weight. What do you think? Leave a COMMENT. SUBSCRIBE to see if we get Winco to make this change.

How to ELIMINATE single use plastic bags from your life

02:50
Eliminating single use plastic bags is simple and convenient with the products from Simple Ecology. These 100% organic cotton bags have the tare weight stitched to the fabric which makes it easy for the clerk to subtract the weight from the scale. Sadly, Winco will not subtract the weight from the scale so I recommend buying your produce from a local vendor, Sprouts, Nugget or Whole Foods. I shop at the Placer Grown Farmers Market and Sprouts; both of which can subtract the weight of your bags CLICK HERE to buy your Simple Ecology bags https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Ecology-Reusable-Organic-Shopping/dp/B004UJ0U0C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1529679608&sr=8-2&keywords=simple+ecology CLICK HERE to find a Farmers Market near Sacramento http://www.placergrown.org/farmers-markets/ Connect with me on Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook.

How to Clean and Repurpose Glass Jars

07:29
One of the most sustainable things we can do when transitioning to a low waste lifestyle is to reuse and repurpose items that we already have. To build our bulk, zero waste pantry, we repurposed glass jars. In this video I show you how to remove the labels and glue from the glass jars so they are clean and ready to use in your pantry. Do solar panels need to be cleaned? | Part 1

03:34
One of the most common questions I get from people that are interested in making the transition to Solar is, “Do solar Panels require cleaning & maintenance?” The answer is, YES, they require occasional maintenance through their lifetime. Solar panels need to be kept free from of obstruction like shade and soiling; Trees need to be kept trimmed and the panels need to be cleaned at least once every year. Also, your inverter might need to be replaced once every 15 years. Here in #lincolnca there is a compnay called True Light Solar that specializes in Cleaning and Maintenance of solar energy systems. Check out their website www.truelightsolar.com and contact them at 916-412-7806 for more information. If you live in CA and are curious about Solar then contact LUCID SOLAR at 916-740-5658 or visit our website at www.golucidsolar.com

The Top 4 Reasons Why People Go Solar

02:11
There are many reasons why home and business owners make the transition to solar energy. The most common reasons are: Financial, Environmental, Property Value and Political. Some people go solar because its trendy or they want a consistent monthly bill. Some clients have a hard time budgeting because their bill is $300 in the summer and $100 in the winter. They can finance solar for $175 and budget for the same bill every month. This video gives a brief summary of why people make the transition to solar energy. https://www.facebook.com/joel.ussery https://www.instagram.com/joel_ussery/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/solarleo/ https://twitter.com/Joel_Ussery

HOW the Connolly's BUILT a mini farm in their urban backyard

28:50
Natasha & Mike Connolly are self-sustaining urban farmers living their dream in Orangevale California. They grow seasonal-year-round fruits and vegetables including pumpkins, squash, romaine, kale, butter leaf, leeks, celery, strawberries, nectarines, lemons, apples, apricots, carrots, onions, artichokes and over a dozen kinds of herbs. They are also starting a grapevine and planting blueberries and blackberries along the fence. They are great mentors that can teach all of us how to reduce our footprint on the planet by growing our own food. This vlog is Part 1 of their farm. I will present Part 2 in a few weeks after they've planted for the summer and Part 3 in the Fall during harvest. SUBSCRIBE to follow their journey. Why Homemade Juice is SUSTAINABLE and HEALTHY

03:09
One of the most sustainable things we can do is grow our own food but that’s easier said than done. Luckily here is CA we have access to all kinds of local, organic food that makes accomplishing that goal a little more convenient. Many family’s drink orange juice which is generally from concentrate and stored in a plastic container. By juicing your own OJ, you eliminate the waste from packaging and transportation. This makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE on a global scale. 15 softball size oranges will give you approximately 40oz of juice which can last a single person one week. Also, this is a HEALTHIER option because it’s FRESH and packed full of vitamins unlike store bought juice that’s lost over 50% of its nutrients from the manufacturing process. https://www.facebook.com/joel.ussery https://www.instagram.com/joel_ussery/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/solarleo/ https://twitter.com/Joel_Ussery

Shout out to EVAN CARMICHAEL | #Believe

07:36
**THE SOUND CUT OUT ON MY RECORDING :( I guess his insight was just meant for me and the livestream viewers. Nonetheless uploading to YouTube because it was a radical experience for me and I want to share it with you. OHHHH SNAP!!! Evan Carmichael accepted my request to be on his instagram livestream. - I asked him, “my time is best utilized networking, selling and being in front of the camera. My skills are limited behind the camera. I want to hire a “Drock” (like Gary Vee) but my funds are limited. Should I get an intern or jump straight into paid employment??” - He answered - “Have 3-5 interns jockey for the position. Decide which one best fits your requirements and shares your hustle and passion. Give them a few months to learn from you and be inspired by your leadership. Once their work shows an ROI then start paying them.” - He had more priceless advice that I took to heart and will apply to my business. - This was such a cool experience. Evan has a HUGE following and inspires millions of people to live their dream. The blessing just keep on coming. #believe #believenation - Check out Evans YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/ModelingTheMasters - Check out Evans Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/evancarmichael
